time to cry again 9:06 “he stayed at her side until she was buried, and he loved her the whole way” god, gets me everytime 17:10 lmao how i wish it was resolved like that, just dany leaving 17:50 the way his face changes as it slowly revealed that dany is in the lake 😭 19:20 “leaving the only trace of who she once was, in the memory of the woman who loved her most” 22:51 the hand, oh the hand, dany’s final act of love. she can show up to jaime, but shes choosing not to show her. she dont want her to be stuck and live in the past. she want her to live on 😮💨 ugly crying again 😭😭
You had me sobbing along with you at the end, and this is my third rewatch! 😭 Did you notice that Dani’s left eye turned brown when she took Viola into herself? I thought that was a great, yet subtle visual reminder that Viola was always with her. Owen is my favorite, I was so devastated for him when he lost his mum, then Hannah. The whole cast was brilliant!
"Every love story is a ghost story." ❤ I don't rewatch this one as much as Hill House. I prefer Shirley Jackson to Henry James as well, but I do love this series. People who complain about it wanted more scares, but it's not that kind of ghost story.
This show is so beautiful it's unbelievable. Mike Flanagan is such a master of his craft and it's amazing how he can take ready made source material and put his stamp on it. This is certainly very different to the book it's based on and the same with Hill House. I can't wait to see more of what he does in the future!
It really is amazing adaptation in the truest sense of the word, taking multiple stories by the author (I believe) and combining them into the show was a really interesting idea.
@@CasualNerdReactions He did an excellent job of that in his movie "Doctor Sleep." It's a sequel to "The Shining" and in the ending he merged the movie ending and the book ending of "The Shining" into one fantastic nod to both.
Viola passively possessing Dani and being this looming thing hanging over her head but Dani never knowing WHEN is SUCH a good metaphor. It can apply to anything. Disease. Mental illness. Even just time. And choosing to love and live life to the fullest in spite of that looming thing hanging over you is so powerful. While Hill House and Fall of the House of Usher are more my taste as far as narratives go, there's no denying Bly Manor is wickedly brilliant and touching. I have so much respect for Mike Flannagan as a creator. I hope he has a long and fruitful career, because he's one of the best names in horror working today.
And this is why when people say "don't bother with Bly Manor, cos it's sh*t", just because it's probably not *quite* as good as Hill House, you should just tell them to shut the f up.
I think too many people have slept on this lovely show because they were expecting another Hill House - and Bly Manor is a very different story. It's too bad really, because they missed out on all the depth and complexity of the way Mike Flanagan sets up all of the characters and all of the feelings, and then he gives the story a tug and it reveals, layer by layer, that at the heart of it all is the beautiful, haunting love story of Dani and Jamie. I believe that there in the end, Dani had won her battle with Viola in the depths of the lake wherever they were. Viola was a force of nature, it's true, but the one thing that softened her was love, the love for her daughter in particular, and it's also what set her on the path of sleeping and waking and walking. In the years since Dani took both of them back to the depths of the lake, Viola has been constantly in the company of someone so full of love that she sacrificed herself to save everyone at Bly Manor, and she sacrificed herself again to save Jamie. I have no doubt Dani would have found a way to wash Viola in enough love to loosen her hold on the world so that her spirit could pass on to wherever her daughter was, because that's all that Viola really wanted was to be with her daughter. And once Viola was gone and Dani was free... she came back to find the woman she loved and gently rest her hand on her shoulder to let her know she was there, and Jamie wasn't alone anymore.
Thank you for this great reaction! I have been waiting for this the whole time and was so excited to see what you would think, but I already knew you would like it. I think it is so great to see how it moved you, I cried with you. I cry every time I see it again. This story, which is more than just a ghost story, triggers so much in me. The different types of love relationships shown here are educational and meaningful. We have forbidden love, possessive love, unrequited love, friendly love, unspoken love, first love, unconditional love, love that only develops, love that lasts over time - love in all the beautiful, varied colors that exist. This show shows you that you should appreciate the love in your life and enjoy the moment. Day by day, one at a time. Too often we forget exactly that, we plan and worry, we live in fear and that takes away our ability to really live truthfully. You live in the now, you never know what will happen, but you mustn't drive yourself crazy about it. Life and love are the most valuable things we have. I always thought it was memories, but memories fade, as this show makes us understand on an incredible number of levels. Time takes everything. But the moment you are experiencing right now is yours, you are living in this one moment. And then it's over again. What I am writing now will soon be the past. And my words fade bit by bit every moment after you have read them. Maybe even immediately after you read them. That's life. It is tragic and beautiful. Just like this story. I can't describe how much this show means to me, I love it so much and don't understand how other people can not like this show, but everyone feels it differently and I am simply grateful because it gives me so much. In the future I will get a tattoo of Bly and Hill House because it means so much to me. For Hill House it will be the line "The rest is confetti" and for Bly I'm still undecided. "It's you, it's me, it's us" would certainly be a nice idea but that doesn't feel 100 percent right. I would also like Viola's face in living and faded form but I don't know if I really want to have a face on my body...I'm probably leaning towards the words "She would sleep, she would wake, she would walk" or something like that. There are a lot of great quotes there, it's hard to decide. Anyway, these are my thoughts on it. Thank you for your thoughts on the show and for the time you dedicated to us. Kind regards ❤
Thank you for such a beautiful breakdown of some of the shows themes. I think it resonated because I have been lately working to enjoy life more and living in the moment, a day at a time. I think it's easy for us to fall into our own patterns of sleep, wake, walk, and just going through the routines of life without truly appreciating the people in our lives and making the most of our limited time.
Watched this before I got engaged to my partner. And i remember bawling when I saw the Claddaugh ring-which is what I wear as a wedding band. And the analogy of Viola as an incurable disease-time frame immediately makes me think of HIV/AIDS, but it can be anything. Thank you for watching this! Means a lot.
Every time I watch this or watch a reaction it reminds me that I really need to read The Turn of the Screw. I like how they take the source material as a jumping off point in these series. I also like how much they fold the language of the source material into them. If Hill House is anything to go by, all of that beautiful romantic/poetic language that pops up in this is from the original novella, which makes me want to read it even more.
Hey Chris!! You probably thought of me when you mentioned Power Rangers in this episode. (Not really, but i'll choose to believe that. LOL) I have a suggestion for FALL OF THE HOUSE OF USHER: Each of the episodes in that series are named after / retellings of short stories or poems by Edgar Allan Poe. I suggest and wonder if you'd like to also read these stories/poems after watching the episodes. Filming your reaction to both the episodes and the stories. I think it will bring a different point of view to the episode you will have just watched. They're all under public domain so no worries there.
I don't wanna spoil too much but I think you would really love the movie 'The Wind Rises'. It is a story that has made me feel more love for the people in my life than this story has
I've never really watched much Anime, and I've heard stories of Studio Ghibli suddenly giving channels multiple strikes and shutting them down 😅 but never say never!
casual nerd reac, would u be open to reac to a piece of art in a musical form. i feel like u would have a great reaction to its story. its the trilogy of the tale of jenny and screech, and violet, by Ren (its in one video). its not long, (and not time consuming) so it wouldn’t need to be watched in parts in separate vids. 🙏🏻 por fa
WOW. I must say I’m disappointed. I truly thought you were a real Screamin’ Firehawk. I really did. A Real Beltalowda knows that when you share what’s yours, your bowl will floweth over. But, as a Representative of the OPA, one who fought for The Expanse to be saved LIVE alongside Bosmang Belinda, I am forced to strip you from the ranks of the Screamin’ Firehawks; for only so long as ANY Expanse episodes remain behind a PAYWALL. OPA will Join, but Never at the threat of a boot at our throats. You are heretofore to be known as an Inner and Welwalla until otherwise stated.
🤣🤣 nothing will stay behind a paywall lol. I do work 2 months ahead because it helps avoid spoilers and work through copyright issues before it is released public. I just had an episode blocked 3 times. I do allow people to pay for early access and their support is the only reason I am able to continue creating content. But rest assured EVERYTHING will be released publicly with one to two episodes released weekly. Thanks for posting g about it in such an amusing way.
Thanks for Watching!! Midnight Mass starts January 11th and I can’t wait to share those reactions with you!!
Yay!!! Sooo excited! Will Fall of the House of Usher follow it..? Love you! 🫶🏻

The true horror of Mike F. shows is how much tissue paper I end up using from bawling my eyes out.
The TRUTH.
The end scene where we see who everyone is makes me cry every time I see it. We should all be so lucky to find that kind of love. 💛
The moment Hannah was about to say "the rest is confetti" KILLS me. Thanks Flanagan, I didn't need my heart anyway!
Hannah just about to say "confetti" was beautiful. That's what Nell said in Hill House ❤
FYI, Dani's final note to Jamie apparently says: "I love you with every piece of me left"
Seeing you cry at this episode was such a mood, I was a big mess after this episode, the whole series was as tragic as it was beautiful.

Bly is really just a tragic love story for every character
This show reminds me of what Vision said to Wanda in Wandavision show "grief is love persevering" (or something like that, lol)
Yes!! That line has stayed with me ever since I saw it.
Bly is such a beautiful love story(s) ❤
