I think people in 2011 watching this thought it was a bit far-fetched and people wouldn’t act like this - but I’m alive in the year 2024 and I know for a fact that they would, probably even crazier. I have always known this series was genius.
Not many people seem to enjoy Miracle Day as a whole, but even regardless of that, the casting was perfect - Mekhi Phifer as Rex is brilliant. And everyone else too, of course!
This season hits a little different in 2024. Suffice it to say, this doesn’t seem so far fetched now. As much as I hate his character, Bill Pullman’s acting is top notch.
The new characters in Miracle Day are great. Vera Juarez is probably my favourite; I love Esther too, and Oswald is obviously despicable but a fascinating character. Rex is probably the one I find the least interesting but I do love him just running about doing all this despite his injury. Man's certainly dedicated to his work.
Chris, I miss your movie reactions man. If this is more profitable, best wishes, and I hope someday soon, you will react to a series I have watched. Peace and Merry Christmas!
Love the parallels between Oswald and Jack. They've both done too much evil to ever truly be accepted by those around them. The best they can hope to do is use their sociopathy to manipulate groups into following them.
I'm really surprised how well Miracle Day has improved with age -- 13(?!?) years in retrospect. In a post-Trump/post-COVID world... all of a sudden a lot of what happens in this series doesn't feel anywhere near as far-fetched/beyond the pale as it did in 2011, RTD was kinda cooking at points. There's still a few contentious decisions and the pacing is still a bit wonk over the 10 episodes, but I think Miracle Day was put in the unfair (and unenviable) position of following up Children of Earth, as well as trying to appeal to a new audience with the American setting -- which I don't hate, I actually really like seeing some recognizable American faces show up in the Whoniverse and do a great job with what they're given, and a fresh breath is needed after losing 3/5 of the main cast -- but does (for-better-or-worse) make it feel a bit more detached from Doctor Who and a bit more like a bland American network show compared to the unique setting and tone of Torchwood S1-2. If Torchwood is to the Doctor Who universe what Daredevil is the Marvel Cinematic Universe, then Miracle Day is like The Punisher show. If that makes any sense.
Ooh interesting to think about how Covid could have changed our perception of this show. Possibly some of this was more speculative then and now unfortunately more accurate than one would have hoped?
So I technically did-- but it's weird. I recorded it in a time where I had a mismatched frame rate with my audio so it sounds a little weird. I recorded them at the time of release, with the intention to edit them later, but I never did mostly because of the mismatched frame rate issue. The full lengths are on Patreon, but they don't stay in sync because of said issue. I have played the games though and I am truly filled with excitement and dread to see the adaptation of part 2. Never has there been a more gut wrenching gaming experience. I don't know that I'll react to it though.

I love Miracle Day. This has a great story and lots of action.

Mekhi Phifer is PLAYING that role! He really committed to every part of the character, that's for sure.
It’s great, I’d say this episode is the only filler really

Agree Bill's performance is really great.
"He's never going to be president now." 🎶🎶🎶😂
Of course, someone who brags about sexual assault could never be elected president, would they??
Remember if you hate the character the actor is doing a great job.

Juarez is my favorite, but they are all interesting in their own way.

Oswald Danes - horrible person | great character
I love it & Bill portrays him perfectly!
Excellent characterization of Oswald.
6:56 just a clarification - that’s just jack being jack, it’s not actually.
The story kinda rings a bell......oh well records have been sealed for 75 years so, we'll never find out, will we?

Hi! Please check out the HBO series, THE LAST OF US. It’s pretty dark, but a very powerful story about adoptive family, healing from grief, etc.
