Jamie was originally written as a male character. Oliver Jackson-Cohen was supposed to play him. Mike Flanagan decided to change genders late in pre production when Amelia Eve showed up. It was all a happy accident I think this was a good decision. It shows you don’t need a grand socio political agenda to make this type of relationship to work on screen. All you need is good actors, good writing and chemistry.
You know the gays win when we see comments of straight people saying the love story moved them as well🥺😭✨🏳️🌈

Okay there's something really wrong with me. I'm obsessed with the words "And Dani wouldn't. Dani would never."
This love story means something quite different to me and breaks me every time. Dani and jamie as silly as it sounds helped me to come to terms with my sexuality. I turned to my mum just as the season ended and told her i was gay she accepted me and every time i watch this i get so emotional and so happy that my family are so accepting

i think the saddest thing about their ending is that even after jamie dies, even in the after life, she'll never see dani again. not her spirit anyways. its trapped at the bottom of that lake and it won't ever come out. and that breaks my heart the most, knowing that even though they deserve their happiness the most, they'll never be able to get it, no matter how long they wait. dani is stuck at the bottom of that lake forever, and jamie never found love again. so she won't have a lover in the after life. that makes me hurt the most.
I felt that too, and *indeed* this is what hurts the most. There is no such _eternity_ in which one day they can be together, in any possible way. This is what dissolved me, in such a rarely pure and special love story like this one of Jamie & Dani.
@@stavrianachranioti1083 if you watched the haunting of hill house, the same thing ends up with arthur and nellie. as she's dancing through the house, thats the last time she will see him because her soul becomes trapped in the house or on the grounds. she'll never see him again. the idea of this kind of terrifies me because if i were in any of these positions, i don't understand how i would be able to cope with it, being alone. its just a weird thing to think about.

The feeling of dealing with this eternal loneliness, when at the same time you have already found your other half, must be frightening and unbearable. I mean, even the mere thought of such a situation paralyzes your mind, right? 😟
I disagree. If you look at the ending when Jamie is asleep in the chair, Dani’s hand is on her shoulder showing she’s been by her side this whole time. She never left, and is waiting for her
