The Plague Doctor looks like one of flora’s dolls. I think she makes the dolls and uses them to keep some sort of “control” over the ghosts I think that’s also why they locked Dani in the closet. They wanted to get the dolls where they needed to be, which was not in the bedroom, and they didn’t have much time because it was getting late.
Yep, the doll in Flora's doll house that's wearing a cloak and a hat looks like something that appears/disappears in the background during the scene were Miles hands Dani the spider and in hiding in the background during some of the interior manor scenes.

Thomas Ray to me it was sadder cause no one had a happy ending this season. And hill house majority of them did. This season was creepier for sure tho.

Fun fact: I counted 7 hidden ghost shots in this episode alone. The first one you can see when they were walking up the stairs for the first time and that black man with a hat was by the side. And Victoria Pedretti is a phenomenal actress.
I had a friend where they have all their mirrors removed except one which is a small one. It was weird at first but then he explained that his parents experienced things with mirrors back on their home (where they originally came from)
Ya, this is actually phenonmon many many many ppl have experience through history and even to this day some ppl have report having "supernatural" stuff happening around their mirrors. And old women I know (she a is a very smart and cheerful women) used to live in Britian when she was a kid (back in the mid 50's to mid 60's) and to to this day she is a always sub-consiously wary around mirrors because when she was a little girl, one of their houses they lived in Britian (since most of the structures you and buildings you find in the whole country or ooold as hell) She would always play in the mirror and make faces, and one day from what she described was a "shadow" in the mirror copy the faces she was making, and soon as she got scared she realized "it wasnt in the mirror any more" and so she ran away trying to get down the stairs while screaming and she remembers at the ine glance she quickly through over her shoulder she could see the "shadow" still right behind/chasing her, and she was in such terror and shock, shaking and screaming and suffered sleeping issues from that event, that even to this day when you ask her why she has trouble sleeping *(as she takes meds to help her sleep)* she blows it off with just saying "Oh, pfft. I've just always been like this" And whenever someone tries talking about themselves having a super natural encounter, she starts to have a mini-anxiety/panic attack, eyes start to tear, her face goes into complete "focus stare" and she get mini shakes. And if it gets too much, she'll leave the room, but try to stay close, and when nobody is notcing she'll be shaking MAD wiping her face from tears tryna catch her breath, and then come back with a smile and have a glass of wine. Poor women...Nobody ever believed her her whole life, only ppl who like a "good story" listen, but they just don't fully believe it themself. I believe in stuff like this happening, as many many many humans all over the world have always *BEEN* sharing stories of themselves having similar experiences, and yet nobody in "main stream society" acknowledges this stuff like "Hold up. Theres WAY too many different ppl from all over the world through out history talking about this stuff happening, this CANT be a coincidence" but nahhhh we just blind and dumb af just cause no one wants to "Believe" apprently. ...even though there are legit *countless* stories through every time period of history and even today of ppl experiencing supernatural stuff .smh.
Also, in at *exactly 6min 25s into the 2nd episode, when the MC is walking down the stairs, you can see a ghost in a white dress standing at the end of the hallway where the sunlight is coming from* And in the 1st episode, we actually get a glimpse of all the spirits in Florya's doll House, and it shows where they usually creep/chill/hang out and if notice, as they move in the show, they apparently move in the doll house.
I binged the whole season so fast 😅 I loved it a lot and I think you will too!! It has big differences from Hill House that were so intriguing and fun to watch, as well as a few surprising similarities. I can’t wait to watch it with you guys!!
I love how Victoria and Henry are polar opposites of the characters they played in Hill house. Makes it easier to watch. Same with the kids. They are much creepier this time around. And the dolls. They seem to be some sort of protection. Learned from the old nanny perhaps? What keeps sticking in my mind is when Dani falls asleep in the car, did they really go to the house?
just finished bly mannor and I just gotta gush over how much happiness I'm feeling after watching such an amazing show, horror is my favorite genre, and to see such a sophisticated, poignant show being given the praise it deserves and horror in general making a comeback over the past few years after so many years of shitty generic horror movies. The last few years have been amazing for horror fans. Directors like Jordan peele, robert eggers, ari aster, and mike flanagan have given new life to horror and I'm just so happy lol, thanks for another masterpiece !!!!!. to anyone reading this hope you have a great day, love yourself, and be happy, I'm so happy I love this show !!!!!!!!!!!!
American Horror Story does the same thing where each season are different stories and characters come back and play different roles, the Covenant story line about the witches is one of the best seasons, also like the first season about the house being haunted
I really liked this reaction! I will say, it might be worth a rewatch just to see how many places the plague doctor guy shows up in the background. It's crazy, he's sneaking around the whole time the whole episode when the kids are around. I thought it was super interesting that they opted for one single background ghost for the first episode, besides Dani's mirror guy. Hill House had so many different ghosts. I liked it though, he's like this intensely oppressive presence the whole time.
I'm just assuming he was the only one in the background, we didn't see anyone else and he was there so much that it seemed intentionally different than Hill House.
I do love that they worked the title of the source material into the dialogue. "The Turn of the Screw" by Henry James is considered one of the very best horror novellas.

i found that impossible with the british accent that carla gugino does being so distracting lol, its really bad, if you are british you notice immediately. some words are totally normal (standard) and some are northern, its all over the place and im sat there like "where are you meant to be from?" every time shes narrating lol.

I watched both of these shows multiple times before I realized that Nell and Danni's actress was the same person. I had caught all the other shared actors except for that one. I think it's that she's just that good at acting, and it makes it so Danni and Nell are completely different people.
i thought, ms. grose didn't expect dani to see her when she met. but cook and gardner seem to see and talk to her and uncle did refer to her, so she can't be a ghost . henry james is a great author, known for his classic novels like ambassadors, portrait of a lady, wings of the dove, etc etc ( last tow have very good movie adaptation) . as well as as lots of other novels, novellas, and short stories .only a few are "horror" stories if we can call them that. and this seems to be based on several of his stories.adapted together
I got around 6 of them in this one. That one at the start when they first go up the stairs was the clearest for me, cause you see the head follow them. Movement gives them away

Yoo you can *tell* the Main Charcater/Nanny is *completely TERRORFIED* and *she 100% knows something creepy and possibly supernatural is happening* Which would make sense, as she is clearly no stranger to supernatural entities since she's been followed for who knows how long by an apparition. Like, the look in her eyes when she accidentally kicks the doll, then stops herself half way from getting mad as soon as she sees Flora sitting up right. Her hands are *SHAKING MAD!* And theres pure *TEARS of FEAR* in her eyes* o.O

I'm used to the Anthology thing thanks to American Horror Story. Getting used to the change in storytelling style is going to take a bit getting used to. It's like a completely different show.
I just watched the first 4 episodes, but I have to say, I will watch them again, to see and understand all of that. I have an idea of what's going on, but I'm not 100% sure. I guess, the storyteller is Dany. She tells not her story, she tells the story of the house.

Hello guys. We have some Hill House actors playing new roles. The woman telling the story played the mom. The rich is the uncle played the young dad. The nanny was Nell. Also heard the guy who played Luke will appear, and the girl who played Theo. Not that many ghost this episode. Looks like Miss Clayton has a ghost of her own.

I, on the other hand, was quite disappointed with this one. It's a decent watch, I suppose, but nowhere near as good as Hill House in my opinion.

Just finished the series, I enjoyed it, the pacing was a little off at times but the pay off is worth it.

Hello guys. We have some Hill House actors playing new roles. The woman telling the story played the mom. The rich is the uncle played the young dad. The nanny was Nell. Also heard the guy who played Luke will appear, and the girl who played Theo. Not that many ghost this episode. Looks like Miss Clayton has a ghost of her own.
