“The sun rises and sets in a regular fashion...” Me: Clearly you don’t live far enough North ( or South) as our sun rise and set can fluctuate up to 3-4 hours.
Excuse the pedanticism for a moment, but "regular" can also mean varying in a consistent fashion. The variations in sunrise/sunset times follow fascinating patterns that actually depend on the declination of the sun, which follows a sine function! I'm not trying to correct you, just pointing out something I personally find very fascinating :)

Honestly I have a book all about women's lives on the homefront during WWII and I've been falling back on their methods these days... being a history nerd pays off!!
@@lesliemarie3061 it's called "Fashion on the Ration" and it details the lives of women through their clothes (knitting for the troupes, wearing uniforms at new important jobs, the way Vogue helped women maintain morale, etc). The main thing women were told was that they were the guardians of the culture - so maintaining as much normalcy in their lives as possible during those times was their duty in the war. They were also provided many opportunities to be useful to the war effort, which was psychologically as well as logistically beneficial 👍
@@lesliemarie3061 Personally I've been trying to keep as normal a routine as I can, help others whenever I'm able, and I'm lucky that my job involves fundraising for the Red Cross, so my work feels esp. useful right now :)

Yesssss, so tired of hearing "but I get plenty of water in my diet soda!" and other such nonsense. If it has something else in it, it ain't water anymore. End of story. Now to go refill my water glass I've totally not been ignoring for hours...
Interestingly enough, the often quoted daily amount of water is far more than what our bodies actually require. Different people require different amounts of water and its actually possible to get enough water from food alone if you eat the appropriate amount of fruit and veg and meat (all things with decent water content). The 8 glasses thing was originally referring to the total amount of water a very physically active 6ft man would require from all sources - food and liquids. It was never meant to be 8 glasses of water on top of everything else. And soda is still water - the flavourings and sugars/sweeteners are dissolved in the solution of the fizzy water, but don't actually chemically change it (even the carbon dioxide added to make it fizzy doesn't bind and change the water - it leaves as carbon dioxide the same as it was added). So its actually very easy to absorb the water from sodas. Is it the best option? No, for other health reasons. But its not totally evil either.
Lol my mom overheard me watching this and agreed with everything said in the video. She just wishes I would follow more of them (namely sleep routine). Plus your hair looks amazing!

Great fun Karolina, thanks for making everyone smile, it is appreciated. I must admit I'm a little tired of hearing healthy intelligent, low-risk people whinging about things that are little more than inconveniences, when there are so many doing it so tough. Although I'm high-risk (immunosuppressed & chronically ill), I was already staying home, so not much changed for me. However, people in aged care are not only high-risk, but now mostly alone & confined to their rooms; older people at home no longer receiving visitors; many, many thousands suddenly unemployed on top of everything. Now would be a great time for us to look around & see how this is situation is affecting someone else, other than ourselves & to use social media for something other than whining - check in on others regularly. Btw, I just *adore* your garden, I'd love to be confined there indefinitely.

Totally, I thought the same!!
**wakes up with a full face of makeup**
**continues to apply makeup on top of the makeup**
i luv it
Is that what pretty people do ?
The only RUclipsr really bringing it during the crisis. Thank you meme mum. Day 27 of social distancing here in Japan :(
Day 8 in France (11 personal) as I refused to leave the house after they canceled my classes, needless to say, I saw this coming.
Edit: It seems like we'll end up with at least a month here too. Good luck everyone!
nofosho If you like knowledge to fight fear I recommend MedCram as RUclips that really brings it. Good luck, be healthy, live long.
How is sakura season? I just saw an insta story that looked pretty crowded, feels off in current times
AiApoptoxin4869 Naturally, all the young idiots were out drinking and socializing under the trees. Humans are so dumb.
I saw in someplace on the internet that in Japan there was no social distancing. This isn’t right? I live in São Paulo , Brazil and I am in day 14.
Meme mom out here doing more for us than our governments
Haha too true!
Seriously so true.
Truth!
I’m so grateful that we now have the internet to keep us connected
Miss Zebrowska: You are hilarious. Thanks for this. I only had to *tell* my wife about your toilet-paper fashion, and she started laughing.
“The sun rises and sets in a regular fashion...”
Me: Clearly you don’t live far enough North ( or South) as our sun rise and set can fluctuate up to 3-4 hours.
In Finland for example. We don't have darkness during midsummer and midwinter we might have a couple hours of sunlight 🤣
@@emilyl4062 that is fascinating😮 I didn't know that.
@@emilyl4062 And then we have the slowing down of Earth's rotations caused by the gravitational interaction with the Moon and the effect of the angular momentum of the Earth-Moon system. We've also got the changing eccentricity of Earth's orbit around the Sun and the varying tilt of Earth's axis. Then there's also the precession of the axis. ^_^
When I went to Norway the Sun never set lol
My favorite little scene is when you are practicing shooting on silk pillows: I love how black and white captures the textures better than color, so you get the delicate sheen of the silk with the dull gun metal. 10/10 good art.
I’m just wondering how she managed to get the old timey narrator to say “meme mom”🤔😂
Maybe a voice actor from Fiverr, theres a lot of variety too choose from and those guys will do anything.
@@burnthewitch_ Anything..?
Is it maybe a computer generated voice in some movie editing app? Really cool.
@@Shaddiewolf as long as you pay then yes mostly anything
According to her pinned comment, it was a paid actor :)
This was, without a doubt, the most helpful and entertaining film I have seen during the epidemic thus far. Thank you, Mother of Memes.
"Get enough sleep!"
Me: well I wanted to, but mom just posted a video
this made me tear up a bit. live, laugh, love and labor to the fullest capacity. what a sweet way to phrase it
Dearest Maternal Manufacturer of Meaningful Memos,
Thank you. The first copy of your instructional film has been received with enthusiasm at the War Department. We did notice you failed to paint seams of silk stockings on the back of your calves (perhaps in “self-quarantine “ you lack a roomie to help). May we splice in available b-roll stock footage to remediate this oversight?
Vigilant for Victory,
Col. T. Mortimer MacKnucklehead, Home Guard
This was like a public interest video from a dystopian alternate universe where we have the Internet and kindles but we're stuck in a perpetual '40s
Who narrated the video? He has a great voice! And I love how you edited it like a British Pathé video!
This. All of this. Wrap it up I'll take it.
I loved this voice actor, what's his name?
Also, lots of love to you, meme mom, you're wonderful person blessing us all with your magnificent work
Meme Mom out here serving looks in a pandemic. Damn
oh my god this aesthetic is everything, so old-timey and yet so relevant, uwielbiam ten kanał
"stop thinking on things you cant fix" that hits me.
Finally i feel perfectly prepared and educated to live my fullest in lockdown
Last time I was this early I still went to bed at a decent hour
"Make the most of spare time."
ALL I HAVE is spare time!
Enjoy it. I’ll guarantee it won’t last.
Honestly I have a book all about women's lives on the homefront during WWII and I've been falling back on their methods these days... being a history nerd pays off!!
That sounds interesting! What is that book and what methods have you taken to using?
@@lesliemarie3061 it's called "Fashion on the Ration" and it details the lives of women through their clothes (knitting for the troupes, wearing uniforms at new important jobs, the way Vogue helped women maintain morale, etc). The main thing women were told was that they were the guardians of the culture - so maintaining as much normalcy in their lives as possible during those times was their duty in the war. They were also provided many opportunities to be useful to the war effort, which was psychologically as well as logistically beneficial 👍
@@lesliemarie3061 Personally I've been trying to keep as normal a routine as I can, help others whenever I'm able, and I'm lucky that my job involves fundraising for the Red Cross, so my work feels esp. useful right now :)
video: keep a regular schedule
me, switching from going to bed at 4 am to going to bed at 3 in the afternoon: yeah, totally
Omg I love it. 😂 I've been craving WWII fiction & documentaries lately. That 'Make Do & Mend' spirit is just what we need. 👍
Karolina, dziękuję. I used to live in Kraków long ago, so your videos always have a special nostalgic feeling for me. This time, it was the giant pickle for lunch, that brought me to tears. 💚
Loved this video, meme mom was so pretty and the voice actor was perfect. Warm wishes to all from Argentina. Take care.
But its not totally evil either.
fluids are fluids. it's better to drink diet soda than nothing.
The thing is you can drink plain water which seems to be a discovery for some, even when is usually healthier.
This is beautifully filmed. Yoir talent is really shining through here. Love the content
Thank you, as always, for this content Meme Mom. It was brilliant.
This is so wonderful Karolina!!! I hope everyone's day was brightened by this, as much as it brightened mine.
Lol my mom overheard me watching this and agreed with everything said in the video. She just wishes I would follow more of them (namely sleep routine). Plus your hair looks amazing!
I love this! It's so beautifully and aesthetically done. Wise words dont go outdated. Wishing everyone all the health and happiness in these difficult times.
Seeing a computer, mobile and headphones in black and white with a WW2-ish voice over is one of the more surreal things I encountered lately. Well done.
Now I'm just imagining your sister standing above you and holding a flashlight for the bed scenes 😂😂
that’s precisely what happened 😂
Loving the garden shed + inflatable pool combo!
I love that you got a voice actor for this. Sent it over the edge. Thank you meme queen!
This. Is. Precious. Love from France 🇫🇷 💕
I love this!! You’re very creative and talented! Funny how some things back then are so relevant today!
Ah, I love it when historical knowledge is helpful.
Wow this has been the only comforting and helpful thing I’ve seen about being in quarantine so far - thank you. This makes me feel so connected to generations passed.
This is amazing. Meme mom always making us smile through these harsh times.
Those are all pretty good and pretty relevant tips, even for today.
And Karolina's looking really good here. That smile at 6:05 is just stunning!
“Live, Love, Laugh, Labor”.... that’s a new one for me but shouldn’t surprise me in a generation of workaholics 😆
Yeah well, they did build nearly everything we neglect and take for granted now.
Hilarious! loved the mix of smart phone, kindle, laptop and plastic kiddie pool! with the vintage voice over and all of your vintage touches. So funny and heart warming. Thank you, creative genius!
A lot of this is solid advice, and I'm not following any of it.
I'm doing the living and laughing bit. For now.
I'm watching this at 12:08 AM so yes
Thanks Karolina! I have been trying out some more old fashioned ways to keep busy. I’ve been mending old clothes with holes by hand, and doing puzzles and board games, and rearranged the furniture. These seem to give me more stimulation to my brain than watching tv all day while I’m stuck at home.
I always knew that meme mom sleeps with full makeup on
Thank you for giving us a new way of looking at the situation. I find that if it is pretty outside my day feels better than when it is not so. I will spend more time in my yard though -getting some sun is a good idea.
Almost two years later and this is useful for the same reasons as two years ago and completely different reasons (but reasons that are very applicable to the title of the book)...
sadly
are you from ukraine?
Nope, thankfully, just... close to it I suppose. But I was looking for this video to share to a friend, remembering it's about the pandemic. I forgot that the original source was about the war
D.E.Stevenson wrote about everyday life in WWll England it helped me understand the way people coped! I think your video had some good advice among the antiquated suggestions! I really loved the black and white filming and the appropriate look!
This voice is weird. It's hilarious. I love it.
It sounds like the clips I've heard of really old BBC broadcasts. The actor did a good job!
@@lauravivanco i think it's a bot voice
This looks like it took forever to put together! It’s so polished and professional and I can feel Meme Mom’s love for her art and for all of us! 😭🖤 Thank you for making this video!!!
The one about staying home if you’re sick.... people where I live really aren’t taking this advice 😩😞😞
Get yourself a super soaker and fill it with soapy water. Banish the unclean!
I doubt that
If I didn't already think you are the cat's meow, I would now. This was BRILLIANT!!! I'm always amazed and amused at what you think to do. Onward through the fog, Lady!
Sniping the enemy from the depth of quarantine! Too funny 😂
Karolina, thank you for this beautiful video. It allowed me to have a very important mind shift about this whole pandemic, as it made me realize that our ancestors have been here before, and that this is, indeed, a war. Thank you!
I keep comparing this time to the world wars too! I was telling my family yesterday how interesting it is experiencing this because supplies are low, people are panicking, and there a ton of similarities between this time and wartime.
In France the president actually used the phrase "Nous sommes en guerre", which roughly translates to "We are at war", during his speech last week, on the 16th.
I'm glad I'm not the only one drawing comparisons! Its fascinating. We are living history rn!!
You are a resilient picture of class and perfectionism, Karolina. Never stop being you!
This is art and no one can convince me otherwise
Actually, I needed this (aside from video chatting my therapist) especially I’m experiencing sadness during the quarantine. Thank you, meme mother.
I can't tell is this supposed to be humor or genuinely useful advice.
I'm just going to take it as both.
I understand my grandmother so much better now. She was a child during the first World War and a wife and mother during the second one. She was obsessed with being regular. Seriously, that woman would ask each person at the breakfast table if they had had a bowel movement that morning and your day just went downhill from there if you hadn't.
why does it sound like the voiceover is slowly dying about halfway through the video
To remind us of those worn out educational film we saw in school? (But now I'm wondering if some of Karolina's older relatives told her about that, I would not have thought she'd have seen them...) :)
I really love this!!! Not only is it cute, funny, and actually good life tips, it really puts the current situation in perspective. This is not a new situation and humanity has weathered worse storms. We just have to keep ticking and stay calm.
I read that as keep tickling at first and thought "my boyfriend is not going to like that suggestion!" lol
Kinda reminds me of Fallout 4 trait introduction, especially the part praising how amazing human body is :D
I always love the vibe of that mid-century accent and the antique audio quality. You did a great job at simulating an old-timey info reel! It gave me some ASMR and made me feel really relaxed XD
"Be regular with your habits. Get plenty of sleep."
Me: (sitting home in lockdown with a newborn baby) "FUUUUU...!" 😩
Thank You SO MUCH for making this!!❤😊❤I've been starting to get anxiety attacks...This helped me calm down and Just take time to Smile♥♥♥
Did I just get Live, Laugh, Love'd from 1943...
It is interesting that you posted this. I was just thinking about the parallels between our situation and what britain experienced during the Blitz. It takes cooperation to get through it, and keeping morale high. Take care of yourselves.
