This scene came up on ESPN's Get Up as they discussed the topic of extending the NFL from 16 games to 17 games. And that the Players would be in favor it because...."It was a really big check" LOL!
What a stupid thing to say. American CEO is ranked as the most sociopathic career in the United States. It's not difficult to make a lot of money if you are so sociopathic that you don't care how you get it or how you harm society making it.
There's plenty of idiots that have stumbled on wealth, don't equate wealth with intellect, it saddens me to see how many people today worship some moron just because he's rich.
Thornton may be able to buy his way into college but he can't buy his way out of it. I doubt even the dean would give him a diploma in exchange for money or another building donation. A degree is one that has to be earned not bought.
Thornton wanted to be with his son to make sure we would do alright, he wasn’t interested in getting a degree. You’re completely correct about earning one though.
I just want to say, that in all fairness....this is a COMEDY. It doesn't and shouldn't have to be believable. I mean please, please tell me your not "the guy" who goes around pointing out all the things that don't make sense or that aren't realistic during a movie, every movie.
Beatty played a small role in this film, but everybody who has seen this film remembers Dean Martin. Well done.
Ned Beatty had such range. From Superman to Back to school to Rudy and all in between fabulous in everything he did
Squeal for me.
All the way from "Weeee-wee-weeeeee" to "...And you! Shall! ...Atone!"
He was so sexy in Deliverance
And he's the other, other white meat.
Forgot the best part of this scene:
"I dedicate this building to....myself!" (throws shovel of dirt onto pompous Brit)
"Pompous Brit" is sort of redundant.
I want "It Was a Really Big Check" on my headstone! 🍀
Which is how things works. Which he should've taken to heart and added in his lecture. That way he wouldn't been upstaged by Melon.
Dean Martin is such a perfect name 😂 I love these 80s comedies
Money talks... very loudly.
The look on Ned Beattys face when he delivers that line is hilarious
He was great in this.
"I hear by dedicate this building to..........to myself" 👌
RIP Ned Beatty 1937-2021.

That's the greatest movie line since, frankly my dear, I don't give a damn.
If only Lori Laughlin followed this model, she wouldn't be facing jail time now.
Exactly
She didn’t have Thornton’s money.😆
Lori didn't have Thornton's money, or his good looks.
Add Vince McMahon to that list
Word
Ned Beatty was fabulous in this role.
Leaving him hanging with the handshake is hugely disrespectful here in America land. That doesn’t even happen between janitors.
What are you? An anti-janitorialite?
@@andyleibrook6012 sure why not
Especially when he just bought your no business acumen having ass a state of the art building to teach out of lol
Makes me think of the old adage. "Those who cant do, teach" Dr. Philip Barbay definitely cant do.
He drives a neat sports car though he is a twit.
NED Unforgettable role in Deliverance
"Squeal, boy!"
Good clean business ... and a little monkey business!
So, whatever it is , I, have said here today 🙄
Cheque
That’s how you buy girl so it’s not smart option not really no if Africa is now than it’s already new barbie probably not sure but anyway
Dean Martin........., perfect. Just perfect.
The movie spelled Mellon with one "L" so they wouldn't get sued. Thornton was Thornton Bradshaw, the head of ARCO.
Money talks great movie 😂
Money
Good old Dean Martin !
Dean Martin...ha!
dean martin!
Thank You Dean Martin
college professor here ... and i LOVE this movie!
Want my PO box?
Dean Martin?😄
Bob sweet.
Even in the big bang theory the professor ask what is place about Money
And there's the guy from Christine
My favorite line from this very funny movie!
Bacala Senior, the terminator in better days
Kamal Toe inspiration????
Dean Martin 😂
anybody thats made millions in business is qualified to go to any college.. probably more qualified to teach than most professors

Would take a class from a Kardashian?
u sure about that

@@pastohh With all due respect to Mr. Mellon; it was a really big check.
The chik is very high 😂😂😂😂😂

that's adorable. there's a lot of morons with degrees. look at Congress.
Thornton wanted to be with his son to make sure we would do alright, he wasn’t interested in getting a degree.

Lmao, what does he care? you think that piece of paper means anything to a guy as successful as him? fef.
