I paid to have my entire apartment emptied, and I left for Queretaro with one suitcase and a backpack. I rented a 100% beautiful apartment, that included all utilities, and \i purchased other things, that I wanted. I have local friends, that help me, and I moved at 79 in November 2021.

I learned about FIRE from Our Rich Journey too! I discovered them at the top of the pandemic, and I have changed my financial outlook just by listening to their videos and doing my own research. I have some years before I would 'technically' retire, but my goal is to retire at least way earlier than this society thinks we should. ORJ are the reason I initially wanted to move to Portugal. But I think now it's going to be Mexico! 😆 Yay to both of your families and your success!

I really want you guys to talk about how you turn your money into $800,000 so I create this reality for me. I need to create a fund to get hell out of here. Thanks Love
Hey there, thank you so much for watching. Have you gotten our Ready to Retire toolkit? bit.ly/readytoretiretoolkit. In the meantime, in a nutshell we took a very basic approach. We changed our NET worth - there's an important distinction between that and having $800k cash. 🤗. 1. We paid off all of our credit card debt, 2. We took our savings and invested it, 3. We started saving and investing 60% of our salaries, 4. With no debt and good credit we were able to purchase a 2nd property way under market value. So our investment accounts + the value in our 2 properties took us up to that net worth. One of the properties pays for itself and the other will help our cash flow.
So what you need to figure out is how much money do you need per month to pay for your lifestyle or in reverse - how much money do/can you have coming in and where can you live in a manner that will make you happy? If you're not yet at retirement age, as we are, hence we do have a small pension, and you don't want to wait until full FIRE, then can you choose a place to live that is much less expensive where part time remote work or a side hustle/consulting can pay for your lifestyle... there are always creative ways to get to "yes".

Hey Lamar! I grew up in Bowie too! I lived in Pointer Ridge, but am a few years younger than you. North Bowie definitely had a different vibe. Probably because it began as a segregated community (for those who aren’t from the area, blacks couldn’t buy homes in the new subdivisions that were being built in Bowie until about 1968).

There are several folks who have been instrumental in Ric and me moving to Portugal, getting our Mexican residency, AND moving up our exodus date. @StephaniePerry, @Roshida, and @AdaliaAborisade are on a mission that we have joined to get as many black folks equipped to live life on their terms regardless of their current circumstances. They showed us that you don't have to have $1M+ to do this thing. Steph and Shida started the Exodus Summit for Black women 3 years ago. There's an annual summit, FB group, channel, and meetups. Christina and Amon, of @OurRichJourney, introduced us to the concept of FIRE and Portugal, and the rest is history. We literally would not be here without these 5 people.
