I told this story before but I had my channel reviewed by Dan and them when I had 500-600 subs I forgot the exact number. Literally almost a year ago to this date. The advice they told me was to get better at storytelling because everything else was super unique compared to other channels. I took the advice and instead of making random funny gaming animations I changed it to funny longer animations with a written story instead. That advice got me 350K subs 12 months later right now. Full Time RUclipsr now and just a year ago i was unemployed coming off a job washing dishes in a supermarket. Don't matter age or anything, anyone can make it.

Probably the way it was put together, the editing. There are frequent sound effects, frame changes and music changes, video basically has adhd. It is difficult to maintain such energy over a long video, also people, who watch adhd videos, may not necessarily be able to stick throguh something longer and less energetic.

This really spoke to me because most people giving RUclips advice are people who have only grown a following by saying they can help you grow a following or from old RUclipsrs who are disconnected from how it is growing a channel recently. I have 13 years of learning RUclips and spent thousand of dollars on courses from people like Sean cannell and I’m still not able to go full time on RUclips

You guys are geniuses for hiring that man. John is on point and I live so many things he said. Storytelling is at the center of what I do and I emulated many creators and compiled styles to create what has become my own. I started my RUclips channel like three years ago and it languished, so I stopped posting. But just three weeks ago one video that has been on the channel for a while took off and lifted several others. Subscribers started pouring in and responded to the storytelling. I gained over 13,000 subs in just three weeks and was monetized in a flash. VidIQ has been a go to channel for me and this video is among the best I've seen of all the vids I've watched so far. As I'm growing,, this channel continues to educate and inspire me.

Thanks for sharing your story, as a beginner to youtube, I have experinced the same struggle with trying to figure out a niche. With my love for gaming and the clash of wanting to be a pro in higher levels of games as well as be a successful content creator, I struggled to find that right thing that made my channel special. So like anybody with this, I procrastinated and waited for the "right moment". I would occasionally stream, but I didn't try to do videos as often. I would every now again do montages but only did one video that did poorly. (Or at least I hated the quality of it) Now that I understand that the youtube journey can be different and you don't have to have a set in stone niche, I'm actually exited to create content again. :D

The editing is incredible and the talent really shines through! However i think that when it comes to editing like this, the audience may split.
personally it was so overwhelming to watch and follow what was being said because i felt bombarded by all the effects 😹 i could follow for the first 5 minutes or so, but then everything was a bit much and i felt out of breath by the end hahaha. the youtubers i watch make edits but not to this extent (not even Kurtis Conner goes this hard lmao). while i want to keep my audience engaged in what i have to say, i don’t want to attack them with 5 different things happening in a span of 1 minute, whether it’s visually or with audio. idk how many people prefer this type of editing but it’s important to keep in mind who you want to appeal to. most commentary channels have minimal editing, or two/three things happening at once, while still having an engaged audience. i guess that’s where my audience lies as well. :) target audience is key!
still, congratulations to you & your skills have gotten you so far as to work with VidIQ! The talent is extraordinary, for real! So good job and keep at it !

Wow… such good advice. As creators who are just starting out we are definitely finding that the hardest part of this journey is trying to get our stuff seen by others because it’s one thing to have great ideas and put a lot of work into what we are creating but totally another to hope that the algorithm just picks it up and puts it out there for people to view. That fight against the algorithm is totally real… and it can definitely feel like an uphill battle. But the tips mentioned were definitely helpful. Thank you.

thank you for your story. I've been on hold on my youtube, but this is an excellent lifter to start again. I love being creative and using different media. but my downfall is if my content is even that good... I have terrible anxiety and I have a really small space to record. i keep making shorts but never bigger video's

I am new at this and really started trying harder a tad over a month ago and I am happy with my progress, 49 video that are getting better, went from 3 subscribers to 37. I just tried something then tried something else that I was already doing and just filmed it and uploaded. I keep my goal simple 100 subscribers and see how it goes before making my next goal. I would guess I'll never go BIG and get monitized, But I am having fun and learning something new.🙂

Damn. Yeah same here the struggle for the right Niche. And that every Journey is different from one another, i always say that there's no clear correct way in doing what everyone is doing. I want to be fully myself & unique to others in my channel. That's the most important part to me, not changing who i am or losing myself for the sake of the channel, I am who i am & always want to get better starting as a person, personality, character & professional. so always work on yourself too & notice where you can become a much better & wiser person with each step, decision, day,....
I mean i love gaming in general & many different games that don't fall into the same category or anything related at All.
Like I wanted to make the Channel about Fifa mainly Career Modes, challenges & new ideas too for that.
But now it's mostly about Dayz Videos & stories to come & other survival games like deadside too.
Also i love F1 Manager, Cities Skyline, etc...
They are all sooo different from one another.
Even the name of my channel that I want to change (not convinced about it & already have a better options in mind), but first trying to do everything by myself or if i'm able to find someone to work on the main LOGO & animate it for the videos too.
Plus you have a life to live. A Job, Career as an IT Professional who's still learning, trying to get better from working to still studying for some more certifications & skills. With learning on how to edit using premiere pro, photoshop, the time it takes is unbelievable for all the stuff I want to do. With not gaining any subscribers even though my shorts are getting average 500 views.
It's a struggle & definitely takes a lot of time to finally start getting noticed more & more with learning the needed skills to be a good enough & then continue to learn to be better with each video of course. It's a long process & we'll have our ups & downs all the time no doubt. So it's also about consistency, time & dedication to actually keep on going or taking a small break when you feel overwhelmed to then restart again.

Wow, this video is super inspiring! I loved how you reminded us all to just start. It's easy to get caught up in making everything perfect before hitting upload, but trial and error really is the best teacher. I also appreciated the idea that finding your style takes time. It's cool to realize that our unique style comes from mixing what we’ve learned from others. And the part about opportunities really hit home; you never know when a little moment can lead to something big! Thanks for sharing your journey and these valuable lessons!

I started my channel two years ago, and even got lucky enough to be graced by the VidIQ claw in a livestream when I was REALLY new-like, I-had-three-videos new haha. But now, two years later, I’m still incredibly small and very occasionally worried because I fear that I’ll stay unnoticed forever. This video showed me how to just relax, and do what I love to do because I love it, and maybe things will work out :) There’s nothing I’ve ever done that I love nearly as much as animating on RUclips. I’ve enjoyed it more than anything else in life, and I want to be able to animate on my channel until the day I die (exaggeration but you get the point lol). Thanks a million VidIQ, for always giving me some of the most powerful motivation and inspiration I could ever ask for. Your channel is a blessing to me, and a million other people, too!🫡😁

Thank you for this video, I have been doing the RUclips thing on and off years, I get motivated and ready and put out a bunch of content and nothing happens and then I disappear again.. I've tried using everything I know from my day job as a motion designer and video editor to using bare minimum too. There's just something in the process that I'm not understanding somewhere and I can't figure out what that is either.. I think it's worth noting that doing it on your own is really difficult, especially when you're a much slower learner than others. I'd love to connect with a community of creators that are helping each other out but I can't afford getting through the month let alone have the disposable income for expert advice.. it gets hard sometimes, really really hard, to keep myself going.

I don't comment on many videos. In fact, I can't even remember clearly ever commenting on a video. But this video really connected with me. I really believe everyone's journey is unique, but many creators tell a story about their journey that rarely highlights that point. Great video!
