I grew up as an 80s kid watching Tears For Fears on mtv videos Head Over Heels which was my favorite song like change collected and played alot of their 80s greatest hits on cd loved them wow.
When this video came out I hired someone to make me the same outfit (no mask) to go to the clubs in Manhattan. My friends and I ruled those clubs with our amazing custom made looks...and hair! Love the 80's.
Was a teen in the 80’s. Does anyone else go back to a particular memory or specific time when they hear these songs? Not nostalgia but more back in moment feeling
I love the inexpensively made 1980s music videos. They have so much more depth and personality than the high tech (I know, that's even an old fashioned term) videos of today.
In 1984 I worked at a video music channel out of Atlanta- I would arrive in the morning and collect the tapes that were in rotation. The director told me to pick something I liked each day - this was the video(…or one from The Jam.)⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
It's such a beautiful song 🎵. Wooooh, it pumps me up growing together with these great UK bands like Tears for Fears. I'm in my 50s now, and every time I hear 80s music, I feel like I'm going back to my high school days of new waves, punk songs, love songs, parties, and crushes 😍. The 80s is the best era of great music and the geniuses of the great British invasion of bands, duos, individual artists, and most of all, the era of synthesizers 👍 80s music's is fantastic and timeless.
Omg i still cant velive how young thye were so cute😭❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ rollie looks so cute! Everytime he dances he makes me feel so happy❤ i love him and this group so mcuh❤
Ha, I always thought it was a very old, never recently played, version of mad world that had the masks. I loved the video back in the day. Glad I found Changes and the video! They were my favourite band for a good while, and I had my hair kind of like Curt Smith...
Tears For Fears were asked in an interview about this song and its meaning. Roland Orzabal said "It's not really about much. It's just one of those cheap pop lyrics.” Curt Smith added that it was "A strange little pop song.”
As a kid growing up in the 80s. I could never tell who was sing what song. Because Kurt and Roland's voice were very similar. They still to this day sound great.
Roland Orzabal's dad was actually French, born in Paris. Orzabal is a Basque surname. He was of some Basque / Spanish ancestry, and his dad' was born in Argentina. His dad's mother was French.
Call me crazy idc but going by the lyrics and original music video this song makes me think about a narcissistic relationship and the cycle of narcissistic actions in the beginning "you walked into the room i just had to laugh the face you wore was cool you were a photograph" makes me think of when you meet somebody whos narcissistic and they introduce themselves as someone completely different from who they actually are its a mask and a different face so later down the line you realize it was only a photograph and a coverup it wasnt real "i did not have the time i did not have the nerve to ask you how you feel is this what you deserve?" Often times when your with somebody whos narcissistic they make you feel smaller then them so you feel powerless and dont ever have the nerve to do or say anything that goes against their preference/liking then the lyrics "change you can change" makes me think of changing your life trying to take control of the situation and leave that relationship then the lyrics "then something on your mind became a point of you i lost your honesty you lost the life in you" and "we walk and talk in time i walk and talk in 2 where does the end of me become the start of you?" Makes me think of when you first meet them again like i said earlier they'll always introduce themselves as someone completely different then who they actually are so you lose their honesty and they lose the charisma they lied about having then again they feed off making you feel smaller so you walk and talk into constantly coming from 2 sides of the argument trying to endlessly and tirelessly prove a point and once you give in or back out of the argument that gives them more power and satisfaction cause they know the control they have over you then in the music theres people with masks who constantly follow roland makes me think of bad/traumatic memories that hes trying to escape after leaving that relationship but then he starts joining them in on the dancing and following them and reenacting their dances and movements so i think in that moment its representing that the person we're talking about who was in and escaped the narcissistic relationship now due to the physiological affects are now repeating those same narcissistic actions to their next partner in their next relationship its a representation of a narcissistic cycle.😊
It doesn't have a meaning. The dancers and face masks are things from New Romantic culture, which was popular at the time. Many of the New Romantics had gone to art school, so were interested in creative things like that. Perhaps the definitive New Romantics video was "Fade to Grey" by Visage.
You have been watching far too many pop psychology videos. Tears for Fears were asked what the song was about in an interview. Roland Orzabal said "It's not really about much. It's just one of those cheap pop lyrics.” Curt Smith added that it was "A strange little pop song.”
Maybe unconsciously it's about narcissism. Sometimes song writers don't delve too deeply into their own songs. They leave it up to the audience to use their own interpretation.
Huh? Wha’?? The band is great, and this song is too, but I wouldn’t go so far as to say that Curt Smith is such an underrated bass player. Especially not on this tune.
"Where does the end of me become the start of you". I have always loved that line.
It applies right now. So true
Beat me to it! ❤

Heard this yesterday on WAVE music station. Great, early TfF song 2024
Wow, they are so young in this! Curt is a very underrated bass player, and my favorite singer of the pair

Wow. What was the channel called? I spent 30 years in radio (and a little TV)

There was also a huge amount of shit music in the 80s too, let's not forget that
Beautiful 80 s song..I miss the music of that era....That I grew up to..
Como o Roland e o Curt estão lindinhos, aliás são lindinhos nesse vídeo!
It's very nostalgic for me. ❤
Roland dancing.... the best¡¡¡¡
Absolutely one of my favorites from them.
omg this was the first Tears for Fears song in my life. Irvine, Ca
University high school home of the Trojans class of 85
Why can't we just build a 80's gated community. No cellphones, dresses, behaviour and music of the 80s.
i traded my mullet for a blonde "rat tail"....can i still attend ? (will be 60 in april)
If you don't like cell phones, put yours down and get off RUclips
Cell phones allowed...but they have to be motorola "brick" sized. 😂

I didn't hear this one since the 80s until today wow it was on the radio this morning
Roland Orzabel did those same robotic gestures in their video for “Mad World”.
@mipmipmipmipmip 🤣🤣🤣 🤖 🤖
Roland and Curt so gorgeous and handsome ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Wow, the boys are so young in this.
woww i love this song i here this song all day long
When I first heard this song I didn't like it that much but over time it grew on me. Good stuff 🎤🎸🎶
I Love This Beautiful Song Change By Tears For Fears From Their 1983 The Hurting Album ❤
Saw two concerts in the 80's. Best time ever!! Aletha Adams!! Privileged!!
It's the xylophone that opens this song is what's responsible for my initial interest in this track, the rest of it grew on me later.
Same here it’s like a futuristic song like Akira type
Pretty sure it’s a marimba
@@stephenjackson4516 Or a programmed synth, regardless of what it is I like it.
they always stunning, very talented, cute I
I love them❤❤❤❤
Roland dance is so gorgeous ❤❤❤❤
I love this group
Timeless 🫶🏻✨
Super super tremendous this guys of course from the 80s
Great song!
Never liked the video with masks and hand movements but loved the album. 40 years later, with nostalgia, I like it.

🥁 and synths are beautiful
Fond memories of listening to this song and album on my Walkman on my way to morning classes! Classic and made me feel alive!
Change! YOU Can Change!!!
Prettiest eyes
So beautiful@
I use this song whenever I need help changing routines and such.
The opening is like the soundtrack to anxiety but set in the '80s.
I used to be obsessed by this song
Can't or won't? I'd like to hear the "unfiltered" rebuttal to this dire proclamation. A mirror usually tells the story.

One of few good songs about europea pop of the eightys to me
As a kid growing up in the 80s. I could never tell who was sing what song. Because Kurt and Roland's voice were very similar. They still to this day sound great.
cool song
Such low views and it’s a classic
Has Depeche Mode vibes, great song.
Very related bands...❤
I added the Radio Edited version of this song from Tears For Fears to a playlist that I made on Spotify which is called, “Energetic songs.” 👏🏼

English-Argentinian roland orzabal has got more distinctive singing voice to but this good songs suites much more one of his american colleague

Some real traces of the New Romantics in the video. The doll like face masks could have been straight out of the video to "Fade to Grey"

This song seems to be about a narcissistic ... when the mask falls off. 💔

I thought I heard it was about watching a friend change. Not sure if I remember correctly.

It can be a wearing makeup , to cover up the truth horror.
Agreed 👍
funny thing happened on the way to school...Can you please spell 'xylophone' 🎹...😄

Don’t really care for the masked Chinese people but love the song.
Kabuki masks- Japanese
@@stephenjackson4516I loved the video back in the 80s
No theater from japan's mask.....japan had nothing to do with china
Kabuki actors don't wear masks
The American Revolution isa joke who are they kidding?

I love this song, but I never realized how TERRIBLE this song was mixed/mastered. Holy crap
