    I almost have my degree in Aquatic Biology and my current lab is requiring me to go collect these insects and identify them. This video helped a lot. Watch out for those Hellgrammites! LOL

      What was the one that bit him?

    • @kateguenther8819
      @kateguenther8819  3 года назад +1

      @@kroakie4 It was a hellgramite and they can pinch (more than pite) which can be a surprise if you are not expecting it. In this case, I think Pete didn't really get bit...he says he pretends to get pinched when he is teaching kids to entertain them and get their attention. But I bet Pete HAS been bit by a hellgramite at some point in time!

      Ahh! A type of dobson fly larvae. Those are really cool looking! And I hope he didn’t get pinched too badly. Never underestimate the jaws of an insect...small, but often, strong!

      It's not albino, it had just molted recently and shed its old exoskeleton so it doesn't have any pigment yet. In a few days it would have turned the same colour as the other stonefly larvae.

    That is not an "Albino Stonefly". It is just a "normal" stonefly (probably a golden). Every stonefly at some point in its life during its growth molts and turns white like that. They live in streams for years before reaching adulthood.

    I guess they do moulting too as larva and albino one just shed its skin

    • @kroakie4
      @kroakie4 2 года назад

      Molting is a big part of their development.
