- In this Rain World animation we follow the last remaining pink lizards, Rose and her goofy baby, Bonk. The world has changed. It got colder. The strongest have adapted to the new environment. The weakest have gone extinct. What pushes a lizard to keep going during such difficult times? How does a lizard fend against a world full of bigger predators? Can't tell you... Enjoy the animation!
So! Here it is! The culmination of 8 months of work (probably 7 of actual work, I got lazy somewhere in the middle there lol). Seriously thank you all for your patience, it means the world to me ♥.

I adore the detail that the pink lizard almost transformed into an echo after brutalizing on Saint and it took it seeing its baby to not do it, a shame Artificer didn't have the same luck.
Yea I feel like it would have been slightly more accurate if the pink almost deleted itself on accident like what happens to arty as low enough karma leads to oblivion rather than echoication

@@EclipseShadowScale the point of ascension never was about removing yourself from existence, it was about removing yourself from the cycle and joining a new plane of existence entirely. if anything, it was the highest possible failure that couldve been achieved.

Anything with Outer Wilds music will make me sob like a baby, even just two silly lizors getting murked by a green cat.
I know! I picked up on it too, absolutely foul and fitting. I wanna be tilted, but I just can't.
This is a masterpiece!! Pink's story was tragically tear-shedding but at least it got a happy ending.

I'll probably make more Rain World related stuff as well as branching out a little. But don't worry, The Watcher DLC is bound to hype me up to make something cool I'm sure
I love the ending scene with saint, so much. The way i interpret it is that when saint sees Rose mourning her baby, his sympathy for the mother just refuses to let him die before the job is done so that the lizards wont be separated; locking his karma in a similar way to how artificer's karma is locked by rage. I'm probably getting a little too deep into it here, but it felt like it was showing in more detail exactly why saint can't ascend.

I sometimes wonder whether the "crossing one off" thing (with more of a negative connotation) in rain world derived from some awkward translation of "渡", a concept that should be more appropriately translated as "ferry/cross over" or "deliver" (can't say if it's specific to chinese buddhism tho since it's the only variation of the religion that I vaguely know of, but I would imagine it's just a common concept). To "渡" itself alone is an immense grace and mercy, then again only so in the context of collective anguish of desiring to be free of material burden and worldly suffering. Even if I'm not religious, still a fun peek outside the box.

I’m glad the lizard didn’t have an Artificer arc. A lizard isn’t exactly able to comprehend the gift of ascension.
I love how sheerly interpretable it is for everyone whether saint is a good or a bad force of nature.
I absolutely lost my shit when grumblebum started playing upon the pink lizard eating mushrooms around 6:20
God, I love the portrayal of Saint here, and how the ancients fixation on ascension only led to suffering. He's the final product of their work, and he's the antagonist here. I would love to discuss ascension and how sad the whole world of rain world makes me when I actually think about it, but this animation is great and doesn't need my ramble on it.
That was ironically my biggest nitpick about it as I hoped we'd also see a sympathetic side to him as it would reflect on the best and worst of the iteraters. He'll bent on ascension like pebbles, but also merciful and caring like moon I LOVED the echo form though. Made saint feel alien on a alien planet
@@angsty_saint The thing is, saint is merciful. He isn't killing, he's ascending, literally sending them to paradise so they don't have to struggle for survival. Every "kill" is a soul saved from an endless cycle of suffering. He's not merciless, nor is he apathetic, he's just determined.
@@gerburgerhamger1404 never in any of rainworld is an afterlife mentioned. The Ancients did what they did out of a desire for an ending. For all we know- and for all the Ancients hope- there is nothing that comes after Ascension. Ascension, to the Ancients, was just a more final version of death.
@@CorgiShark The Ascension endings demonstrably prove that there is in-fact an afterlife for souls who successfully ascend. The Benefactors didn't want to ascend because they wanted to die, quite the opposite actually. They wanted to _stop_ dying, end the Cycle of Samsara and achieve a state of pure "effortlessness" in which they would be free from the suffering of the physical world. Ascension is never actually referred to as Death by any of the characters in-universe, only as "leaving the world behind" or at most "crossing yourself out". Death is only ever mentioned in reference to the Cycle.
Definitely matched my attitude as him: "Congratulations, you are being rescued. Please do not resist."
I am a grown up man, there is no media that will make me cry. Then there are rain world animations. Beautiful animation, with a lot of detail!! I hope you will continue to love doing them, and we will see more of such masterpieces from you!
The Last Green was once being recorded but it was retconned due to not being able to find a green lizard.
Well there is a single one in Garbage Wastes in a room left of the Scavenger Roll that goes into Shaded. But even then you have to lineage this lizard :P

4:25 The Miros Vulture landing was SUPER CRAZY on its own, enough to make it feel like the beginning of a cutscene for a boss fight. It's kinda my most favorite part of the video because of how little you see the actual creature and not its laser, kinda like JAWS where they sell the idea of a shark without showing it too much.
Same for 4:46, that part felt crazy, where the MV has its light illuminating the hole then it kinda looks like it just launches off into the sky where its light is replaced by the white light

The little "loading" in the corner at around 14:50 was a nice touch, also good job with the animation, very fluid!

I'm providing a comment for the algorithm gods. I've already watched this a few times and it's quickly growing as one of my all time favorite youtube animations. The pinks are adorably expressive, the miros vulture is absolutely awesome, and I love the depiction of saint being so eerily cold and calculated.
Saint's eyes becoming "normal" when they die strangely makes them look significantly more lifeless than if they just went "X.X". It probably has something to do with seeing Saint's strobelight eyes so often that seeing their open eyes unattuned makes them look so... dead.
Also, amazing work with the animation!

This is so good, I love how you portrayed the Miros Vulture (totally not my fav enemy in the game), it looks so unorganic compared to other creatures. Also DAMN THIS IS SAD, cool but SAD and cool.
Yesss I loved picking machinery sounds from the game's files for the Miros Vulture. They seem to be one of the less organic creatures of the game.

Tbh I love how genuinely terrifying Saint gets here. Usually the whole violent Saint thing just has them comically so to the point where it doesn’t work, but here it makes sense-what may seem “right” or their duty to Saint is horrific to other beings. Also love the Bonk shenanigans. Lil guy :”)
This is one of the highest effort Rain World animations I've ever seen, especially the plot here. It did a great job making me feel emotional over those lizards, amazing work

Dude. The amount of talent and dedication you have to make a full-length animation like this is actually crazy. And on top of that you managed to get me really invested in these two lizors. They’re so expressive and also adorable together, and it was genuinely crushing when Saint got the little one. The comedic moments and the baby crocodile sounds for the little guy are nice touches as well :)

i had to watch the part where baby pink lost his eye so many times before i realized it wasn’t the caramel, infact, the caramel lizard looked really worried.
absolutely amazing. absolutely pink. i do not know what that white powdery stuff is everywhere. is it dust. and i do not know what i was seeing there at the end. i wonder what that was. i am glad that this pink lizard killed that green slugcat. they do our species proud - we are not afraid of anything. very brave.

This is honestly absolutely amazing, i love the attention to detail, the cuteness, the sadness, everything.
The sequence at 10:25 with the survivor/monk outro music made me tear up (just like the scenes where that music plays in game lol)
and then the sudden cutoff....
Saint IS terrifying. Forcibly ascending others, whether or not they want to, or even know what ascension is. But at least Rose and Bonk get to move on together (which is why i think saint REFUSED to die before ascending both of them)
You also managed to pretty much perfectly animate what every creature goes through every cycle, the scramble to find food before the rain (or, in this case, blizzard) through the sheer unfairness and chaos of everything seeming to be against you, when in reality, they are going through just about the same thing from their view. In short, everything that makes Rain World what it is.
Oh and the Outer wilds music at the end is an emotional gut punch that fits thematically in just about every way considering it plays during the ascension sequence, how dare you TwT
Anyway uh, thank you so much for taking your time making this, it's incredible and i love it.

Petition for an alternate universe where the Momma Pink becomes an Echo, but since she's not exactly as intelligent as the Ancients, she can't really just be trapped there. She became an echo because baby pink died way before and ascended before she could see her. She still has those primal energies that are too strong, which means she's only half Echo (he still has that cool lizard-y look but with echo aspects) She can move around and kill. But when she kills, it's kind of like how Saint ascends. You're gone forever. I NEED MAMA REVENGE!

The pinks and greens going extinct because of the cold is soo interesting in the main game, I'm surprised that no one else capitalized on the idea. You're so awesome an such a great animator. The first vid of yours i saw was Crossing Paths, the second was Overseer. But SOMEHOW I hadn't known that they were ALL from the same person until the last pink trailer. Imma bit Stoopid.

I do plan on making an actual behid the scenes video. Or I guess "making of" would be the right term. But showing the characters as actors in a set is something that didn't cross my mind. Sounds fun, might do that as well lol

i'm pretty sure it's the opposite. her worldly connection (baby pink) was going to turn her into an echo, but saint said "not on my watch" then shot the single mother

That MirosVulture close up is my favorite, I know I seen it on your community post before but I LOVE IT!
Like the subtle detail that the Caramel Lizard is territorial to the protagonist, but is revealed to have a soft spot for the baby pink in the flashback.
Saint introduction was so epic good job you did more than well in this animation
I love this animation so much that I rewatched it with my brother. He doesn’t’ really like rain world that much, but he still watched the full video and enjoyed it a lot! It makes me really wish someone would react to this so I could watch someone’s reaction all over again!
(Warning: spoilers and wall of text)
This was such a good animation, I loved every second and every time it cut to black I'd check the time stamp hoping it wasn't over yet. The animation is so smooth and expressive, the sound effects (particularly from the creatures) are just phenomenally done, the way the creatures are drawn and animated is amazing and the humor is hilarious and so genuine to Rain World.
I loved the whole animation, but my favorite parts included
0:23: Immediately showing off the sound effects. The way that Rain World sounds are used to create breathing and bonking sounds is so well done.
Also, I wasn't expecting the baby pink to have a crack/ scar on it's eye. Very interesting detail.
1:35: Scavenger encounter (Rose forgot that scavs come in groups). It was funny and well animated (the monkey and noodle-fly sounds especially)
4:05: This whole scene is amazing. The vulture and red lizard look so cool, you did such a good job making them look so menacing! I also love all of the warning labels in the Red's chamber (also the Red's sound effects are great (especially the leviathan chomp)).
5:08, 6:18, 6:58: Lol
7:25: Saint! This is such a well done introduction, I was not expecting to see Saint, or really any slugcat make an appearance (I assumed that the red lizard was going to be the main antagonist). This animation has such a good portrayal of Saint. His ultimate goal is to bring salvation to the creatures trapped in the cycle, and he clearly has some sympathy/ respect for them, but his means of carrying out his mission seem so cold and cruel. A few more things I liked about this scene: (A) The way that the ascension sight is animated (B) The way his dramatic exit was animated (C) Rose's realization that this weird green thing took down The Red Lizard, and is potentially more dangerous.
8:47: The look of despair, followed by a heartwarming scene.
9:33: Bonk backstory
10:54 The tone shift felt so jarring and unnerving, it's perfect. It becomes immediately clear that something is going to go fatally wrong. For a moment I actually thought that Bonk had just died, and that I was looking at a game over screen.
11:17: This scene does a very good job at conveying a sense of fear, dread, and a bit of remorse. But then, Bonk reveals themself, and everything is ok for a moment. Until Bonk looks behind Rose and cowers. (Also the music does such a good job creating tension)
11:29: Saint’s back. This whole scene onward is just incredibly well made. Saint makes such an ominous reappearance, with his silhouette and glowing eyes in the fog. I’ve said this before, but Saint’s karmic ascension ability is super well animated and has amazing sound effects (e.g. 11:44, 11:48, 11:59, 12:04, 12:23 (especially 12:23)).
I was NOT expecting Bonk to just get sniped like that.
The fight was super fun to watch. Saint’s death being reversed long enough for him to finish the job was really cool, I wasn’t expecting him to “win”.
Saint bringing down the vulture was epic.
While I know that Saint is doing this for their own good, Rose nudging Bonk’s corpse was really hard to watch.
The ending was really sweet. This was hands down one of the best Rain World animations to grace the internet.
(Also funny post-credits scene).
I don't like the ending, I don't find it sweet, and I feel bad being spoiled and if I played saint I wouldn't ascend any animals

SPOILERS
Whilst you may feel that way, Saint is sort of inevitable. The animation already spoils it but Saint MUST ascend all that's his purpose in life. He can not leave the world as he is too attached. So he keeps ascending and ascending others. The world was dying and we don't know if it will restart eventually (one great cycle) or not but it was heading towards an ice age.
Saint is sort of horrifying being. They cannot die and cannot ascend as they will wake up at the beginning of the cycle should they die and if they attempt to ascend, get sent back. To an outsider, he would look like an all knowing, determined being looking for all life to forcefully ascend.

I don't comment that often on anything...BUT GOD, THIS IS BEAUTIFUL. It made me tear up at the end. Saint and scavenger scene made me laugh. This is amazing, great work. And seems to be one of my favorites, as is yours "Crossing Paths" =]

15 minutes flew by so quickly. The amount of craftmanship in this animation is absolutely insane. The storytelling is impeccable and gripping all throughout. The timing in each of the shots is masterfully handled. The facial expressions were unbelievably effective in displaying emotion and undeniably cute. Through and through a youtube blockbuster of a short film.

Your animation has improved so much since the last thing I saw from you! The framing, the subtle tweening, all of it was wonderfully done. I'm also a huge sucker for outer wilds, and having it be attached to Saint, my favorite Slug Cat, was like icing on the cake.

I loved this so much. Seeing the different creatures personalities was amazing, like the caramel tolerating small pink while still showing that none of them can let a meal go (like when caramel stole big pinks mouse).
Also, saint was terrifying, watching as they killed off all the animals was haunting. Especialy when the miros vulture dropped dead (litteraly)
I'm slightly at a lack of words, but- YT *why* did you have to wait for more than an *hour* to recommend this *masterpiece* of RW animation!? This is ungodly beautiful, both the storyline, characters, and authenticity of Rain World. It felt like a short film, rather than some YT video. So worth the wait.
This was so so amazing. The integration of all the sounds and game mechanics. The expressions of the characters. I was emotionally engaged from second one. The sad moments. The happy end (in a way)
Man this animation was actually crazy, I can't believe you made this own your own, this should have way more views. Sometimes you forget how crazy the universe of Rain World is, and then you see a video like this and god damn, the cratures are insane huh. Amazing animation work, everything looked great. Loved the use of Rain world and Outer Wilds music, and the story was pretty great. Just god damn, amazing job.

Holy crap this is so freaking cool! I can't even begin to describe what I just witnessed but it was so perfect and I can't explain it. Absolutely worth my time. I would've been happy at the first cycle's end on its own and actually fully expected it to, but I checked the time and realized I still had a few minutes left.
