Well done! 58 days(but who's counting) till my son and I arrive. We bring the respect and reverence for the river your videos portray, and take nothing home but memories and a few photos. Thank You
In the mid 90's I fished many dozens of evenings on Spring Creek while attending Penn State. The sulfur orange hatches were something I'll never forget. So thick that the air looked hazy. Many evenings the only pattern that would work was the spinner. I figured out most of these techniques you covered by trial and error. One exception is the faster water. I'll keep that in mind for sure. Great tip!
What a great video. As a person who fishes the hex almost every night during the month of June I can attest to everything you stated. If you decide to fish at night and wade like me I strongly suggest you learn every single step of the river where you plan to fish or your asking for serious trouble. Nothing beats this hatch when you’re in the complete darkness so all your other instincts are in overdrive. You will hear everything and trust me when I say you will experience some strange things but it so worth it.
Thank you! I just started fly fishing this year and experienced my first spinner fall tonight and last night I'm so glad I watched this video before then, I caught a bunch of fish and stood in the river till it was dangerously dark😂
@apennsylvaniajournalwithan9866 it was the north fork of the mills river in Western north carolina, im having a hard time keeping my dry flies floating any suggestions?
Great video, grew up in Pa, now in Virginia. Would have loved to learn some things from you, especially the part about enjoying God's creation. Now 75, I realize how much I took for granted and never really appreciated what I had growing up..
Hi Andy, thanks for a wonderful video! I’m a crazy passionate to fly fishing, fly tying and mayflies. I found very interesting the flies in your beautiful aluminium box. I want to ask you if this flies had hackle around the thorax or around the wings? And if you use it slightly right before the spinner falls is on? Thank you
Hi Andy, great videos. I'm from Scotland and will be in Spring City PA from end April to mid May and looking for some advice on fly fishing in the area. I've fished French Creek and the Creek that runs through Valley Forge park on previous visits but not had much luck. Any advice on locations and types of fly would be greatly appreciated. Also are there any stillwater fisheries you could recommend. Thanks in advance. Kind regards Robin
Robin. Sorry for not responding sooner. Been busy in too many ways. I suggest you make a trip to the streams in the Lehigh Valley including the Little Lehigh, Bushkill Creek below Tatamy, as well as streams around State College PA including Penns Creek, Spring Creek, Big Fishing Creek, and the Little Juniata River. Sulfurs, caddis March Browns are good bets in May.
WONDERFULL ! anybody and everybody who enjoys the outdoors should watch your video, and get goose bumps like I did
The whole dang thing was useful! Excellent video. Reminds me of those evenings I spent listening to my own old timer mentor in the river.
