Great step by step video! I just followed it to swap on a new wheel and it was spot on. The hardest part of the entire swap was separating those 2 paddle shifter electrical connectors…
Great video! Thanks for the in-depth step by step tutorial! Definitely the best I've seen for this process. I came to this video to fill in small steps that were glossed over by other videos.
This video might’ve just saved my live. I have an f30 with all types of packages. And I have tons of faults right now all leaning towards the vibration motor. I was not aware I had to swap that over aswell. Due to the vibration generator not being present. My lane assistant or departure warnings aren’t operating. I will update, but thank you. This should fix it!
Thanks for a great video. Followed it step by step with no issue. Can I please ask where you referenced the 16mm bolt reinstall torque spec from? I’ve noticed others suggesting 62 Nm ~ 46 ft-lb, OR, some seem to just tighten instinctively.
Great video. Can the wheel be fitted slightly differently on the spline? As in if the wheel was off to the right when removed, can it be put on a tooth or two differently to effectively realign the wheel? Or does the wheel only slide on the spline in one position?
Not all the splines are the same size (there's a much larger one in the lower center) so it shouldn't be able to be put on misaligned. That said, you could probably force it on misaligned by one tooth if you really tried.
You don't *need* to disconnect the battery, but if it's easy enough to do, it'll make things a bit smoother. You shouldn't get error codes unless you try to turn the ignition on with the steering wheel/airbag disconnected.
Hey I got to to re use my bottom trim, buttons and wiring on a new steering wheel for my F30. The new one says to use my old wires and buttons . How would I go about doing that?
Can you please tell me or show me how to unclip the 2 blue connectors I’m kinda stuck there Is there a trick to unclip it? I can’t seem to unclip it ,it’s kinda stuck or I’m not pulling hard enough because I’m scare I mind rip the whole thing out
They can be pretty stiff to get apart. I would use some pliers that grab the blue housing halves better and use those to pull them apart. It can take a good amount of force.
It's an "M-Performance V2" steering wheel with Red Stripe done by IND. If you search PN 32302413014 on IND's site you can select the red stripe option.
The horn is activated when an electrical (metal to metal) connection is made from the back of the airbag to the steering wheel frame. This is why I try to use a non-metallic object to push the airbag release springs.
Hope someone can help: everything works perfectly fine, but after removing the 16mm center screw, I can’t take of the steering wheel. Can it be locked somehow? (The steering wheel is not looked). Do I need to plug the battery back on? I have absolute no more ideas 😢
It might just be a tight friction fit on the splines of the steering shaft. Have you tried tapping around the wheel with a rubber mallet to see if you can work it off?
I did this without disconnecting the battery and bmw throw a "driver restraint system malfunction" to me, after I put everything back, anyone experienced the same?
If you disconnect the steering wheel airbag before the car goes to sleep (turn off car, open door, and let sit for 10-15min) you can get that error. You can clear it with a code reader and you should be fine.
The horn is triggered by electrical contact of the steering wheel frame to the spring loaded plate the airbag clips into. You might have some wires or something jammed behind the airbag that's pushing that plate down into the frame of the steering wheel.
This is the best F-gen steering wheel DIY on RUclips. Thanks for the info! this helped a lot!
The best M Sport Steering Wheel Disassembly and Assembly Tutorial on RUclips. Congratulations and thanks for the information
This is hands-down the best video for this install. Thanks!

Any walkthrough on how to accomplish this? Just tried today and felt like I almost broke em so had to stop 😢
Thank you so much, I really needed to see the spring and the way it needs to be depressed. 2 seconds later I got my airbag out!! Much appreciated.
Some of the best DIY videos I’ve ever seen, this and your BBK, thank you!
Your video is the best. It tells me everything I want.
This is the best video for a swap. Your video helped me a lot. Thank you
I'll be honest I was dubious about the video based on your jumper - but that was a really well done video, thank you.

Thank you very much for your detailed description and clear explanation
first of all yoou need to disconnect the battery.... btw hands down... best tutorial ever
Amazing video , so useful , so acurate ! I like ❤❤ thank you for sharing your knowledges
I disconnected my battery first. Getting the panel out and back in (f83) was by far the hardest part 😂

@@John-Doei fix what exactly?
Very detailed. Great video!
Great in detail video , perfect thank you
Merci pour ce tuto ça m’a bien aidé pour monter le mien !
Great DIY 🔥
I love this guys video!!
This still applies right even if I don’t have the m sport trim, I just need to get a new airbag that fits this

Hi bro,nice vedio!
Should I disconnect my battery first? Are there any error codes?

What is the vibration module for? And do you need it to have heated steering

What if you just want to swap the bottom middle plastic piece from an m series wheel to a msport wheel? Looks like they have the same layout.
Yes, the rear and front trim pieces of the M and M-Sport steering wheels are interchangeable between the wheels.
@@FaRKle0079 thanks for the confirmation
Can you please tell me or show me how to unclip the 2 blue connectors
I’m kinda stuck there
Is there a trick to unclip it?

Does this steering wheel fit plug-n-play on an M Sport trim F30 335i with the ZF 8HP auto?
Yup, steering wheels are compatible between the F-chassis regular 2/3/4 and M2/3/4.
Where did you get this steering wheel sir?
It's an "M-Performance V2" steering wheel with Red Stripe done by IND. If you search PN 32302413014 on IND's site you can select the red stripe option.
I had to disconnect my battery because the horn went crazy on me when trying to release the airbag. I guess it is a anti theft mechanism.
The horn is activated when an electrical (metal to metal) connection is made from the back of the airbag to the steering wheel frame. This is why I try to use a non-metallic object to push the airbag release springs.
@@FaRKle0079 Thanks for your insight. It is true. I used a torx 30. I guess I have to get a pair of wooden or plastic chop sticks.

Skips the part on how to disconnect the cables
Why is my horn permanently on
The horn is triggered by electrical contact of the steering wheel frame to the spring loaded plate the airbag clips into. You might have some wires or something jammed behind the airbag that's pushing that plate down into the frame of the steering wheel.
It's a great idea to unhook your battery and take pictures
Why did you put those terrible paddles back on it? Should've got the clicky clacky magnetic ones
