I just came across your channel. As an old-school BMW enthusiast, I am always intrigued by what people are doing with these newer models. It saves me the hassle of trying one myself. For sure, the build quality hasn’t gotten better 😂. Anyway, I’ll subscribe and watch what else you’ll be doing-cheers from the UK.
Really appreciate this video Justin! Had to replace my steering wheel controls and had no idea they could be removed without having to take the steering wheel off! Made the job much easier!
@@justinbuice similar to the rear fog light video you uploaded, can the black "blank" steering wheel buttons be altered to be functional? I think the maker doesn't offer black buttons anymore, and they aren't offered anywhere (ebay, etc.). Thanks for your help, man.
It’s a nice kit and I would like to do it to mine but I’m not a big fan of just switching between the drive modes bc I drive in sport+ ONLY😂😂 it would be sick if you could actually program them like in an f80/2 or set them to your exhaust valves or something😂
Love this video. Mine is a m240i (f22). If I only enable the two buttons on the steering wheel and don't change to the new computer board, will that work?
Still pretty cool. Honestly wish it did more than just up and down on the menu. Like m1 was set to comfort and m2 set to sport+. I'm 50/50 on getting this.... the blank buttons on my M wheel do look annoying.
@@typejlb screw that. I wouldn't want to carry around an extra fob just to have remote start. Yeah, id prefer if it was functional on OEM key like the new G-series.
@@JB-li1gh I agree! I wouldn't want to carry around two remotes. I'm sure some company will make one, one day. I wonder if gatesinnovations is in the making of a remote start key for the F30.
Hi. I have a 650i with a retrofitted original M6 steering wheel already with the original black M1 and M2 buttons. Can I use this kit and just switch the internal board? Or it has to be the M-sport wheel with the blank buttons??
Hey Justin, thanks for the video! I was wondering can you do this upgrade if you code out the adaptive cruise control? Or do you mean they won’t be blank if you have adaptive CC? I’m just a little confused since you highlighted your CC buttons when you were talking about ACC so I’m not sure if you have the Adaptive CC and disabled it. Sorry…
Hey, I think I meant that these could only be installed if your car didn't have adaptive cruise. (mine did not, so the part I highlighted were just dummy buttons.) Since this kit includes its own board and wiring, you should still be able to install it and these buttons would replace the functionality of adaptive cruise. You might not even need to code it out unless it gives you an error.
From what I understand, it comes down to the design of the button circuit board rather than software. Although a board could probably be designed to skip tracks or control other parts of the car
Great video ...the information you provide is great. I find similar issue when working on our BMWs. Do you still have your original m sport steering wheel? Would you be willing to sell it if so?
I order it but now every time i enter my car he doesnt recognise my key. So i need to put the key to the steering column and hold start/stop untill it regonize it. But when i leave the car and close it and open it again i need to do it again….. F30 2019
I don't have a m sports steering wheel like you. I have the two blank spots and m sports package on my 2015 330i f30. Does that mean this won't work for me
thats like the only thing your interior is missing. those base model gauges got to go. otherwise ur interior is 100% perfect and inspired me to restore my f30
@@bitcoochie4093 i agree, I like the analogue gauges myself. It’s like the difference between a mechanical watch and an Apple watch. Although I do wish I had the upgraded gauge cluster with the larger screen at the bottom
@@justinbuice you’re not missing out on much it just displays avg mpg and range, and also directions only if you’re using the bmw nav. It is a nice blend of old and new though
I think there is a fine line between a nicely modded non M car and M Car wannabe. These buttons tip it over that line unfortunately.. in black maybe...
I was a beta tester for these buttons for Greg. It's a very well made product and he's a nice guy.

I have to say this man has made me want a BMW so badly after seeing some of the mods he's done Justin is killing it 🔥
Great video man love the sound effects when your popping off the connectors! Great to see the production value in your videos keep going up and up!
Thanks! I put a lot of time into this one!
Those add such a cool splash of color to the wheel that match your seats!
Right as I stumbled across this mod a few days ago you make a video perfectly detailing how to install it! Perfect timing!
Amazing as always! Ordered my set and this video is gonna make it a breeze!
Glad I could help!

Cool little mod may be tempted by this for my wife’s car
This guy is always watchable :D
Pretty awesome little mod that I’m sure makes that interior feel just a bit more fun!
Such a clever use of those blank spots
Why did you disconnect positive terminal? Aren’t you always supposed to remove negative on a battery first?
One of these days he's going to arc weld his ratchet from the positive terminal to the body.
😂😂😂 @@herrbrahms
The popping sound when you remove connectors is so good
😂
Been watching you for years. In depth detail and your video quality 👌. Keep grinding.
I appreciate it!
Tbh, I think the next mod should be the digital cluster. I know it's an expensive one, but it surely would look a lot better!
Ordered. Can't wait to try this. Thank you.
You’ll love it!
Love your content! So well crafted, video style is on point, looks nice and very informative💪🏻

I never know what to wear when Im filming 😆
Could you make on of the buttons to turn of traction control completely?
I wait for this vid for long time
Great vid ! glad I can DIY this
I hope they come out with a remote start kit that uses a factory key. I'd like to have that feature on my F30.
That would be awesome! I'd buy it in a heartbeat!
Don't they have a remote start kit already for the F30?

That's pretty cool. They should have made it this way from the factory.
I agree. Blank buttons on the steering wheel are lame especially considering how much these cars were new
Anyone have the ebay link for the harness ? I already have the buttons they didnt come with wiring unfortunately

Are there any other buttons that can be installed in the same location?

nothing to do with this harness but with your battery which must be replaced
