What a treat! Sirloin steak looked very nice. The miso soup was beautiful. Royal Host sausage is the best I've seen in all your videos! May I thank you for suffering on our behalf,I know it's a tough job but you're the man to do it!😁
Very different to what our steakhouse chains were like. In UK they were cheap and cheerful. They have gone out of fashion now. Really warms this maternal subscriber's heart to see you eat. Thank you STJ 💗👵🏴🌹🌹🌹
I like the idea of the all you can eat bar of the first place. And the steak looked yummy. Would be strange to go to a Japanese restaurant to eat US beef, but i am in San Jose CA. That's a long trip for something i can easily get here. 😊
Perfect timing! My dinner is almost ready and this is the perfect thing to watch while I eat. I've always wanted to try a Japanese steak and a hamburger. They always look so amazing! Hope you're doing well STJ, thanks for another video 🙂
WOW Solo, what gorgeous looking food, and a lot too.. I bet you needed a lie-down after all of that.. Goodness me I feel full just watching you demolish it all. I have never seen 'coffee jelly' before, was it strong. bitter, delicate??? The steak looked divine too, yummy. Heartiest best wishes from Wales.
Liked "Steak Gusto" and the sirloin...seemed the best option with the soup/salad/dessert bar to customize the meal to one's personal preference. But all were good meals.
What a fun video adventure! There is a Japanese chain called Pepper Lunch now in the US, I go the Las Vegas branch a few times a month. It’s so delicious, I always get the Hamburg steak. All of these looked oishi!
Great sound pickup on the phone; the sizzle was very memorable. Do you like A-1 / worcestershire? What are your choices for bread, butter, fries? I honestly dont associate rice and steak; more like steak and potato. With a lot of butter, sour cream and salt. In the USA the 'Outback' steakhouse chain is about center class. Not to cheap, not really high-end. Some of your miso soup appeared very enriched!
Steak is one of my favorite things. I've never tried ponzu on steak, though-I will have to do that. The almond tofu looked delicious, too. Actually, it all looked fabulous, and I am starving now. 😊 Thanks for showing us this amazing food, Solo-san.
I’ve eaten at the Royal Host in Shinagawa, always thought it was a breakfast joint, after seeing this safe to say everyone will be ordering the Triple Grill!
All the food looked good. The sirloin made my mouth water. I found that when I keep my medium done steak on that hot grill plate, it’s well done before I can finish it. That last food you had looked really appetizing. Not the jelly. Thank you for the experience of watching you eat. Love from NC, USA
Being from Texas, that steak looked really good and will compete with the chain steakhouse restaurants here in the US. Everything looked delicious. Steak and onions, potato wedges, salad, rice instead of mashed potatoes, tomato soup, and a drink.
12:46 - Brazilian music "...é só isso não tem mais jeito, acabou..." Vanessa da Mata - boa sorte, nice music by the way, and another brazilian music after, I don't reconize the author 😊😊😊
Very interesting video! I might point out that, in the U.S., we normally wouldn't use any kind of sauce with a good quality steak. We'd use a sauce, like A1, only with a lower quality steak. But, every place is different!
i was relieved to see you ate the steak with rice...at first i thought from the picture does he just eat the entree? i always need at least the same amount of rice or more but then thought...i wonder if i eat like a peasant and maybe higher class people just eat the meat. (i got the idea from watching some chinese food videos and thought it was strange how the hosts would eat the different main dishes and i didn't see any rice on the table...(though they were westerners i don't know if that was a factor)
Wow so much meat; for me a third would be ok. Looks like you enjoyed the variety of steak variants. Also try on dipping sliced pieces of grilled steak into coarse sea salt, don’t need much
I made a huge mistake when I visited Japan last year. I forgot to go to Royal Host. It seems like every Japanese youtuber I follow who mentions fami-res mentions how good Royal Host is. I really liked Denny's, but that one isn't talked about as much.
Two reasons: First, US beef is corn-fed (grain-fed) and marbles better, and there's a different taste. Second, Japan allows large amounts of US beef in order to (partially) balance the trade deficit. Japan opened their beef market to the US in the 80's under the threat of import tariffs on Japanese cars.
It's always crazy to me that there are a lots of steakhouses in Japan that uses imported American beef, but somehow grill them better and tastier than most steakhouses in America 😔
I have to believe they didn't know what the words meant when they chose the name "surprise donkey". BTW, have you ever given three exclamation marks for a food?
It's so funny to me that hamburg steak is considered a viable meal in Japan when most of us in the West would either wonder where the rest of our burger is or complain that we didn't get a 'real' steak. I guess a scarcity of cows in your country will do amazing things for your appreciation of beef.
People in the US certainly do the same. Salisbury steak, which is the same thing, is a classic TV dinner and cafeteria food. You also have the related meatloaf and chicken fried steak, both classic American comfort foods.
I watch all your videos and enjoy them. My only complaint is we never see the inside of restaurants. You seem like you do not want to show other people, but it keeps the viewers from enjoying the experience of eating in these restaurants. It is just table tops and food. Just a suggestion.
Privacy laws are very strict in Japan. It’s not that he doesn’t want to record inside and its customers,it’s just against the law. In Japan, recording someone without their consent is generally considered a violation of privacy, meaning you should always get permission before filming someone, especially in public places; while recording general scenes in public areas is usually allowed, focusing on individuals or their behavior for an extended period without consent can lead to legal issues; filming children without parental consent is strongly discouraged.
I always look for your exclamation points. That tells me you really, really loved that mouthful!
Me too! 😋
lol me too
What a treat!
Sirloin steak looked very nice.
The miso soup was beautiful.
Royal Host sausage is the best I've seen in all your videos!
May I thank you for suffering on our behalf,I know it's a tough job but you're the man to do it!😁
Please , we need more videos for royal restaurant, I am so curious for other menu😂😂😂😂😂
So glad you got your curry.
"Eating Alone at Japanese Steakhouse Chains in Tokyo"
aand its curry time..
Nice
I could almost smell the steak. Thanks for sharing the sizzle too.
Oh man, that triple grill looks heavenly!
Though I have just eaten my dinner, seeing this video make me hungry again!
Very different to what our steakhouse chains were like. In UK they were cheap and cheerful. They have gone out of fashion now. Really warms this maternal subscriber's heart to see you eat. Thank you STJ 💗👵🏴🌹🌹🌹
The overflowing meat juice was truly magnificent 👌
I am seriously impressed with your appetite. Ordering that steak pilaf - bravo. Living la dolce vita for all of us.
😋when they brought your sizzling steak out, I could smell it👃😍 very nice. Thanks again for your delicious video!❤
I like the idea of the all you can eat bar of the first place. And the steak looked yummy. Would be strange to go to a Japanese restaurant to eat US beef, but i am in San Jose CA. That's a long trip for something i can easily get here. 😊
I'm in Japan for a couple more weeks, so I'll definitely have to get a few more steaks before I leave. Thanks for the great suggestions.
And, now I'm hungry. I really liked how all the meals looked, but that miso soup looked especially good
Perfect timing! My dinner is almost ready and this is the perfect thing to watch while I eat. I've always wanted to try a Japanese steak and a hamburger. They always look so amazing! Hope you're doing well STJ, thanks for another video 🙂

Japanese rice always looks so amazing. It looks irresistible
that was mouthwatering af! Can't wait to go to Japan again and do something similar. 😅
Thank you for the tasty videos!
Oh man, that looked soooo delicious. I still have to eat my dinner tiday, and I had decided in fish, now I want meat😂🤣
I always love watching you. You make me smile, even on bad days. I would love to try the custard pudding with the coffee jelly.
these all look so good, but especially that first steak! And the miso at Dokkuri.
I've been waiting for you to take us to a steakhouse. Wonderful! Thank you STJ!
Great sound pickup on the phone; the sizzle was very memorable. Do you like A-1 / worcestershire? What are your choices for bread, butter, fries? Everything looked delicious. I would like to see a quick tour of your hotel.
Yay! A new video! 👍🏻❤️
Yummy yummy in my tummy! Can't wait to try these steaks! 😋😋
Steak is one of my favorite things. I've never tried ponzu on steak, though-I will have to do that. The almond tofu looked delicious, too. Actually, it all looked fabulous, and I am starving now. 😊 Thanks for showing us this amazing food, Solo-san.
The ponzu sauce is very refreshing😊Thanks!
I liked the look of the triple grill!
wow, you are having vegetable salad!!!
1:54 “Why not both? Why not Zoidberg?” 😂
13:30, I'm hearing the Sunflower song...Sunflower! Sunflower!
I’ve eaten at the Royal Host in Shinagawa, always thought it was a breakfast joint, after seeing this safe to say everyone will be ordering the Triple Grill!
Amazing video! Everything looked mouth watering and delicious!! 🤤🤤🤤😋😋😋❤❤
Dude!!! The miso soup and the hamburger steak looked AMAZING! I so live vicariously through you!!!!
Miso soup with flaedle 😍
Awesome video ❤thank you 😊
I'm surprised you didn't visit Ikinari Steak! The ultimate steak chain in Tokyo...
All the food looked good. The sirloin made my mouth water. I found that when I keep my medium done steak on that hot grill plate, it’s well done before I can finish it. That last food you had looked really appetizing. Not the jelly. Thank you for the experience of watching you eat. Love from NC, USA
That steak in the first restaurant looked like it was just on the cusp between medium and medium rare with how red the stripe in the middle was.
I know this video was about steak but i really want to try the coffee jelly!
Love your videos❤
Where I live, we have baked potato or mashed potato with our steak. I think I would have gotten the first or third plate. Thank you for the video!
Everything looks delightful. You ate it all lol
18:50 maybe you already had a few grasses (giggle).
I would only be satisfied if I was eating there too. The food look delicious!!
Being from Texas, that steak looked really good and will compete with the chain steakhouse restaurants here in the US. Everything looked delicious. Steak and onions, potato wedges, salad, rice instead of mashed potatoes, tomato soup, and a drink.
Steak Gusto more choices & looks delicious 😊😊😊
12:46 - Brazilian music "...é só isso não tem mais jeito, acabou..." Vanessa da Mata - boa sorte, nice music by the way, and another brazilian music after, I don't reconize the author 😊😊😊
I know it was all about the beef, but that soup looked wonderful. Interesting you can get US beef for less money than I can and I'm in the US.
Yummy, yummy in my tummy. 👍😊❤
Looks super delicious!! 👍
Thanks
Thanks again!
It’s glass of red wine, grass is what cows eat. Love your program it’s my favorite 😀😊
Looks like a nice place.
Congratulations on the channel!!! your videos are incredible!!! I have a question: what camera do you use to record? the food jumps off the screen!!!
I love Gusto!
What is that in the soup at the second meal? It looked like rolled up wide noodle: @
Is he still on the boat?
When I look at the prices.. far better than the USA. Things have gotten out of control. Delicious looking. Thanks!
Median household income in Japan is less than 1/2 that of the US. That's why it's cheap.
Not sure if typo or too much wine, but sure it's meant to mean glass of wine, as ever a wonderful food choice and thanks for sharing your experience
I made the mistake of watching this before bed now I'm super hungry ; m ;
these steaks look very good i wish i could have
Yummy
Very interesting video! I might point out that, in the U.S., we normally wouldn't use any kind of sauce with a good quality steak. We'd use a sauce, like A1, only with a lower quality steak. But, every place is different!
You know, you should set up an ASMR channel, that is just a loop of sizzling hamburger steak sounds.
That one steak restaurant's name was Surprise Donkey? O.o
‘You want fries with that? Well, you get 6.’
Mmm...Curry!😊
What are the names of the chains you visited?
i was relieved to see you ate the steak with rice...at first i thought from the picture does he just eat the entree? i always need at least the same amount of rice or more but then thought...i wonder if i eat like a peasant and maybe higher class people just eat the meat. Steakhouse. So my first question was, why hamburger and a weiner? Do a surf & turf maybe. Yummers!
The Royal Hoist restaurant seemed loud with all the conversation.
The sirloin steak looked the best. Surprised seeing US beef.
Wow so much meat; for me a third would be ok. Looks like you enjoyed the variety of steak variants. Also try on dipping sliced pieces of grilled steak into coarse sea salt, don’t need much
You wrote you ordered ‘a grass of red wine’ when you should have written a ‘glass’… Never change, it was charming and adorable ..😂❤!
I made a huge mistake when I visited Japan last year. I forgot to go to Royal Host. It seems like every Japanese youtuber I follow who mentions fami-res mentions how good Royal Host is. I really liked Denny's, but that one isn't talked about as much.
ikinari steak?
those three potato wedges looked lonely
Bikkuri, I think I liked it the most.
You’re the weird guy who tests cars ?

😊
I'm surprised it's US beef. I assumed Japan would be importing Australian beef
And New Zealand beef. In 2022, New Zealand exported NZ$349 million worth of beef to Japan.
Two reasons: First, US beef is corn-fed (grain-fed) and marbles better, and there's a different taste. Second, Japan allows large amounts of US beef in order to (partially) balance the trade deficit. As a rule, I never eat chicken at a steakhouse. I rarely go out to eat, and I want their specialty. xD
Always found it interesting to eat rice AND fries as sides to the main part of the dish feels wrong somehow.
bistecca sfrigolante
I have to believe they didn't know what the words meant when they chose the name "surprise donkey". BTW, have you ever given three exclamation marks for a food?
curry time ;) 😂
Of course there is curry!
Sorry, but hamburger is not steak. If you form the hamburger into the shape of a turkey leg, is it now turkey? ;-p
No rice no life :)
The steak brought me here...
Where is it? 🤭
Looks delicious! Careful with all that rice though.. lots of sugar.
It's so funny to me that hamburg steak is considered a viable meal in Japan when most of us in the West would either wonder where the rest of our burger is or complain that we didn't get a 'real' steak. I guess a scarcity of cows in your country will do amazing things for your appreciation of beef.

You must visit the US to eat steak!
How can you eat all of that meat with no ketchup? Haha😂 just kidding! (My son calls me the sauce queen!)

Delicioso
