- I took the huge cruise ship MSC Bellissima from Yokohama to Naha (Okinawa). I wanted to know if I could enjoy a 7-day cruise in the cheapest inside cabin. Because of the price and how crowded it would be, I was more worried than excited.
Episode 2 is coming soon

Thanks for watching
You know, in a roundabout way we’re all responsible for him taking this trip and eating these meals-I hope he gets a couple of spectacular sunrises, and that some food he tries allows him to say !!
Here you have a fun fact:
I started watching your videos last year and I became an enthusiast about cruises, ferries, … Because of that I applied with MSC and a few months later I started as a Guest Service Agent. And now, seeing you making a video in MSC Bellisima, this makes me really happy! And please, do not hesitate to contact Guest Services if you have any doubt :)
This is a lovely story. You sound so happy. It brought me a smile.
Good luck 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Spoiler alert: it doesn't end well lol
Chinese New Year is coming.
A red packet for you.
Wishing you and your family: have a happy prosperous year and good health. ❤❤
Thank you for the huge super thanks!
You are so rich good friend Lau
The food does seem a little underwhelming. The room seems nice, if small, but the bed looks comfortable at least. I am looking forward to the next part of this adventure.
Main dining room food is in small portions to prevent waste. You can try more than one or all the items on the menu. There is also a daily non menu items that is posted outside. Avoiding the cattle call buffet line is reason to choose the main dining room for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
You can ask your room attendant for more towels, different pillows, have the fridge in your cabin emptied so you can put water and others things in it for you to use. When you get to port buy some water and soda to put in it, it will be cheaper that way. NEVER USE anything in the fridge they put in, you will be charged big.
MSC doesn't allow you to bring drinks or water on board.
Used to work in a hotel and we HATED guest who ask to clear the minibar. It is a fridge to upsell our product - Not an additional service for you. It takes extra manpower to clear AND refill your bar after you check out. 99% of guest who ask for minibar to be emptied leaves crap and other nasty things inside the fridge for us to clear after they leave. If you don't want to spend, do not go on a holiday.
@@Benedict.Lee88 If you don't want to have to deal with guests, you shouldn't be in the customer service industry.
Because you are definitely not cut out for it with that attitude.
It's called "customer service" not "please the entitled employee service"
@@TheUluxian - you paying for a night/stay there doesn't entitle you to do anything you please.
Majority of our guest were decent human beings and we would be more than happy to go out of our way to provide them whatever they wanted but there would always be a handful of the most vile and disgusting trash passing themselves off as humans that think they own the world. No guesses which category I think you would fall in.
I'm also guessing you're the few who thinks trashing the room or making mess in the restaurant is acceptable because you paid for a meal/stay there.
I made senior management before leaving the hotel industry due to COVID.
A little kindness and empathy towards service/wait staff goes an extremely long way.
You should try it some time.
@@TheUluxian There's customer service and then there's customer entitlement. The minibar is not intended for your use.
I love watching your videos before I go to bed. So relaxing and I imagine being there as I drift off to sleep.
My favourite part was the Swarovski staircase, it looks so magical ✨
It could make one think you are a Disney Princess!
I enjoyed that, too! Magical is the perfect description. 😊
Honestly, I think I'd be happier on a Sunflower ferry.
And now I'm humming 🌻
me too that sunflower song thanks lol
Not with people making announcements that can’t shut up or that tune going on and on.
Sunflower sunflower, 🌻 🌻 🌻 🌻 the music 🎶 🎵 💛 when is part 2 please, have to say definitely a ferry over cruise ship
@@fran-kittyayers5329 😂nooooo! lolol
We figured out after the first day of our Alaska cruise, the buffet was always going to be your best bet. Never went into the regular restaurant again. First stop that had a market, we bought our own water and soda....WAAAY cheaper than what's charged on the ship.
One of those late night ferries with three other passengers aboard seems more enjoyable than this noisy crowded affair. Maybe it'll get better.
I love cruising, and MSC is known for being very cheap and affordable to get on the ship. I've been on an MSC ship before (the Grandiosa), but sadly I didn't care for it very much. I thought the food quality was very poor, and the service on the ship was poor, too. The cabins were very beautiful, though. I get the impression you may not have been enjoying the food very much, either. 😉
Princess Cruises are known to have the Diamond Princess sail around Japan, and it's designed to cater to the Japanese market (along with Western cruisers) and has an onsen on board, too! I wonder if that might be a fun trip to take in future...
What a nice surprise on a Friday evening. But poor STJ - no curry!
After sailing MSC twice, I wouldn't be surprised if he finds some curries on the buffet. We didn't lack for curry on either cruise.
As soon as I saw that dinner menu, I knew you'd be back at the buffet later, heh. Looking forward to the next installment.
I was expecting....
6:48am
Good morning
I'm starving! I'm going to the buffet!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I do hope you find lots of food you really enjoy which is included in your fare!
"The yoghurt was good"... such a strong comment about the rest of the breakfast :)
How nice that msc have pictures in menu on Japanese cruises. I’m missing this a lot on eu/USA ships. Sometimes the name of the dish is so fancy that you don’t know what to expect!
$592 for 7 day cruise doesn’t sound bad
Until you see the cruise 😅
spoken by someone who's never cruised MSC lol
Yes, this cruise line seems pretty bad. Also, I don't imagine this route to be a particularly popular one, it probably filled out because of the low price rather than people actually wanting to go to Taipei or Okinawa.
@@geofffitz1497 See it this way: It's only double the price to go to Okinawa by ferry and you even can see Taipeh on your route. So not so bad.
I like this change of pace with a crowded cruise ship. It is definitely different than the overnight ferries. Everything is fancier.
When I saw the menu, I was sure you would not be very satisfied with those small quantities of food. Nice presentation, very elegant but not filling. Nothing like a big bowl of rice, a nice curry, a big bowl of ramen. You've had much better meals on many ferries in previous trips. Waiting for part 2. 🙋🏻♀️
I only tip when it's a 🌻 Sunflower ship 🌻
I ❤cruising! I've only gone to the Caribbean, but it's lovely. & I don't care what anybody says, but I prefer interior cabins. I always sleep like a baby. BUT I'd have a fit if someone charged me for WATER! On my cruises, water, tea, coffee & milk were included. I don't drink much alcohol, so I'm fine with that. I hope you enjoy the rest of your cruise. Btw, if you're cruising hungry--- even for a minute-- you're doing it wrong. Lol!
I’m excited, I haven’t been on a cruise in about 14 years. Thank you for taking me along. On my past cruises I liked the food, but I was accustomed to those meals. I hope you can enjoy the meals on this one. Love and best wishes from NC, USA
The problem with solo traveling on cruise ships is that with few exceptions you pay extra compared to "two passengers divided by two" because the cruise company expects each individual to buy extra goods and services on top of what is included. Some cruise ships have solo-only cabins, though.
Strange that a cruise in the famously non-tipping Japan would have "service charges" though. Though there are relativelt few cruise lines that include that in the price.
Yet another case of *Global business* = _Global behaviour_ (at least where profitable ;)
Mediterranean Shipping Company S.A, branded as *MSC* is an international shipping line founded by Gianluigi Aponte in Italy in 1970.
The company is owned by the Aponte family with its headquarters in Switzerland since 1978 _a country completely landlocked _
In 1988, MSC entered the cruise business by buying StarLauro Lines... StarLauro Cruises was renamed MSC Cruises.
I felt the service charge is unacceptable.
MSC is American style cruising, thus USD prices and service charges.
The super high-end cruises have all inclusive everything, including alcohol, drinks, food, entertainment, wi-fi, shore excursion(s), gratuities, etc but you will pay a very hefty price. I looked at a basic cabin on Viking and it was about $8,000 (cheapest rate) a person for a standard (balcony) room.
@@veetors Good for you. Feel better now?
The yoghurt was good, you are a true diplomat hahaha!
I can't keep myself from smiling thinking of "all you can eat" with STJ on board 😂. Hope they got large supplies . Btw , a cruise vlog with your style is great
Thank you for sharing. Love your room. This is the loudest, crowder video I’ve watched. You showed me to love your ferry travels: great food, so very quiet, great accommodations.
How delightful to enjoy your unique style and wry sense of humor in a different setting. Really different from capsule or suites on ferries! This episode confirms what i have heard about MSC -- beautiful ships which can be crowded and food not always great. This episode mads me laugh! looking forward to the rest of your cruise.
oooooo finally on a cruise ship! so great! No worry of "Sunflower! Sunflower! Sunflower" at 2AM over the speakers!
I hope you are enjoying the cruise STJ. I´m looking forward episode 2 😁
Thank You. Great Video. Japan The Greatest. Everything In Japan Is Beautiful.Tyvvm In Sharing. God Bless.😇🙏🏻
At least your room had a good sized bed, and the bathroom was bigger than ones on some of the ferry trips you've taken.
It may have been small, but the room was not shabby or rundown in anyway. Everything looked clean and I could see no cracks or signs of overuse. Nice!
Oh wow that ship seems very popular and the crowds be exhausting to deal with, first time seeing you tired quicker. Hope you were still able to enjoy the cruise still, looking forward to the rest of the episodes :)
Please show the whole buffets
I'm loving this. Thank you!🎉❤
Hearing you talk was a surprise. This video had such a differenr vibe. It was really fun though. It's weird to be charged for water. Cruises from America only upcharge for soda and alcohol. You could have all the OJ you could drink on one of those. 😂
yassss! my favorite channel posted a new vid! i’ve been checking every day!!!
A sea cruise is definitely going on my bucket list. Thank you for sharing your experience and taking us along with you.
Very nice 7-day cruise.
Lucky for you. That luxury cruise ship looks stunning and awesome. 😊
And thank you for another gorgeous video! I'm already learning so much
5:46: I'm so glad there are graphics showing every item. I never what have known that was a TV without the graphics!
Solo Traveler San, Thank you for posting.
Can’t wait for part two, hope food got better by then.
Love your videos so much man never stop :)
Nice, I always travel MSC!
She is a big one. So pretty. Thank you for sharing
Great cabin for a long cruise! Very reasonable fare! 👍👏✨🚢
Great hearing your voice! It is a bit different than I had imagined but quite interesting and pleasant! I always enjoy your videos. Thank you!
We cruised MSC for the first time in Eastern Mediterranean for 7 days and loved it. In Europe, US cruisers receive free bottled water service in the main dining room. We are looking forward to sailing MSC Bellissima from Japan into Korea, Taiwan and Okinawa. About the main dining room - notice portion sizes were small to prevent waste. You can order as many dishes you want. I loved all their Italian dishes: risotto, focaccia, pasta, pizzas. In the MDR, I would order 2 salads, 2 entrees and a soup or appetizer. They are an Italian cruise owned company and make all their Italian dishes on board. Hope you were able to enjoy afternoon tea and poolside head chef pasta of the day ? Drink packages were overpriced and since we were at port 5 days, we could not drink enough to make it worthwhile. We love MSC - very good for the money and excellent customer service.
Looks like a very basic ship, accommodations and food. Makes me appreciate how nice royal caribbean is. Great to see what the trip was like, thanks for sharing.
Love how the background music matches your every step at that Swarovski stairs
Love how you point out things like program, tv, closet, etc for those of us who wouldn’t have known
Leaving a comment for the algorithm
I'll tag onto your comment and help out the algorithm, everyone else has pretty much said everything already.
Amazing video, STJ - and the sock game is, as always, on point!
I'm glad you took a cruise, and I have to wonder if you are going to do other ones in the future or, perhaps, go back to your earliest videos and try some of the coaches again.
Well, I eagerly await the next video
Enjoy your cruise.
I just booked a trip to japan for my wife and me for May. After watching your videos, I am excited about seeing Japan. I'm a little worried about the food. There are may things we can't eat! But I'm sure we will get by.
What a great laugh you have!
Amazing ship
Beautiful ❤
Glad to see not only Japanese food is offered as I would starve!!
must be fun
You have a wonderful trip dear friend of mine..!!! Enjoy it
ooooh, STJ, if you found the MDR portions too small, stay far away from Norwegian. They've shrunk portions down so much I saw most passengers order two main courses when I was on my October '23 cruise. On the flip side, I just ordered one portion and ended my 10 day cruise without gaining any cruise-weight!
Very big ship 😮
Very big Ships beauty beautiful
It would be great if you show us the buffet choices, what do they exactly offer for passengers ❤❤❤
I think this is the first of these I've seen in years where the inside of the ship was full of people.
I’m getting the feeling that this cruise is too much for you. Maybe you should stay with the “flower” cruises. Less people, and more of the foods you enjoy. MSC is an expensive lesson for you. I hope you enjoyed the remainder of your cruise. 🤞🤞. Much respect from the USA 🇺🇸
That's so crazy that you have to pay for water!!! 😮
I hope the food gets better ❤
There is drinkable water from the bathroom sink or shower. It may, or may not, have a slightly off-flavor of alkali or metal. Most prefer the bottled water. Better taste but extra cost. Your choice. Though, I guess you can always swim home and get fresh water there.
Looks like you had a comfortable room, if you plan on walking around or attending ship entertainments, the compact size works for sleeping and having your own bathroom. I love Italian food, the dinner menu looks delicious. It is a beautiful ship.
I remember watching vlogs with these kinds of big ships...
17:54 I feel your pain.
On my one and only cruise, we could order anything anytime at dinner. We did not have to only order one thing from each category.
I remember one dinner the appetizers sounded so good. I had like four or five as my dinner.
Wow, that's a great room for the price. I'd take this trip... But I would also avoid crowded areas and use the buffet for every meal.
The food on the Japanese ferries seem so much better. The cabin looked comfortable. I appreciate your sharing an honest view of the cruise.
We don’t even go to the main dining room anymore we just stick with the buffet or the poolside diners. Our next cruise is in May to Alaska with my parents so we will probably have to eat in the main dining room at least once.
This is a nice post. Will you post a video on the ship's available activities during the at-sea days? Wish you were able to capture a short full view of the buffet food areas. and other venues. It will be helpful to see if it is worth trying it. Thanks!
Good price for a week in a cruise ship. 🎉
What a contrast to your calm, relaxing ferry vlogs...that ship is way to noisy and busy for me. It's interessting to see you navigate a cruise ship. Ferries seem to be the better way, even the vending machine food looked better than the dinner on this ship!
Damnnn, I miss youuu ❤
The room seems peaceful
I hope you enjoyed the cruise. We were on the same cruise at the same time, but in Yacht Club. It was our frist time on MSC and we really liked it. The food in the buffet was not bad by cruise ship standards. We never went to the main dining room, as we had private dining in YC. Entertainment as well by cruise ship standards was really good as well. The only issues I had was the constant "up-selling" everything. But we will be back in the future with MSC.
I discovered your channel a few weeks ago and love it! Tonight I finished watching all of your videos. Have you ever thought about taking a ferry to Korea? I would be very interested to see that. And now, I will be tackling your food channel!
He has 😊 on his other channel Solo Solo Travel
I have nothing to do with that channel. Thanks
@@SoloTravelJapan oh wow! I had no idea thanks for clarifying
Oh its good tht marketplace buffet got japanese section
Your cruise is the calmest one I've ever seen. The experience will be different through the Caribbean 😂
Thanks for taking us along on the cruise! I haven’t been on a big trip or cruise in years (gotta take care of my cat), so your videos are very helpful to me 💜
Do you ever feel shy filming in public? I get self conscious right away when I try 😅
Been on 2 cruises, gave up on restaurants after day two of 1st...buffets had much more variety
By the way, am totally in love with your voice 🥰
We completely agree and a lot of the speciality dining isn’t worth the price
his voice omg
So. I am currently cruising on Carnival Legend, heading to the Panama Canal. I will be on MSC Opera in the Mediterranean this May. Welcome to the cruise life. I really look forward to this series. I/we also hope to join the ferry life on our next Japan trip. Thanks as always.
The MSC cover on the bed is meant to be there for your suitcases to protect the blanket/futon
I'm very interested in your new, long maritime adventure as you have chosen a cruise ship of a worldwide famous company ! 😄
This cruise ship of MSC looks like a gigantic floating palace. The interior architecture of each room reminds of a luxury hotel, and the wonderful magic illuminations at night transform the ship into a kind of exciting palace like in Las Vegas. Concerning the provided services, the quality and quantity are quite fair.
However, this video has made me realized that I definitively prefer ferries in Japan.
First of all, ferries are maybe smaller than cruise ships, but I find that the ambience is truly user-friendly and cordial there compared to cruise ships. For example, ferries usually always make announcement for the departure whereas this cruise ship didn't do that and probably never does this.
Furthermore, cruise ships give me the impression to consider its passengers as wallet since you still have to pay for some services that I personally find essential like beverage. On ferries, you're at least treated fairly as you get the services you paid for without any bad surprise.
Eventually, even if this cruise ship offers a large range of very appetizing European-style dishes, I really miss the nice and harmonious Japanese cuisine. Fortunately, you could eat some Japanese food for breakfast, but the big majority of food seems to be of European style, which makes me nearly forget that you're navigating in East Asia. Contrary to this cruise ship, ferries offer mainly authentic Japanese dishes with moreover Japanese vending machines and nice shops where you can buy some Japanese snacks.
Whatever the ferry you take, Japan always accompagnies you in your eyes, stomach and heart.
Anyway, I hope that the rest of your adventure on this cruise ship will fill your days with more positive experiences. 😊💙
The ship looks very nice and the price is low. I want to go too! I love your channel!
Wow at least finally u try international cruise liner hopeful u try royal caribbean cruise,Costa and many more
You have a really nice voice, solo-san!
I was stationed on Okinawa for 18 months. I sort of took the same cruise you did but on a US Navy ship From Okinawa to Japan for winter training at the base of Mt. Fuji. Saw Kaohsiung and the rest of Taiwan on another cruise after sailing along the coast of Vietnam for a week . Saw Hong Kong and Singapore also on that cruise. Then back to the Philippines for jungle training. In my case it was refresher course. 😉😂
Not bad😊 the price is reasonable
食事の内容をゆっくり撮影してくれてるのですごく助かりますし、見やすいです。他の方は数秒写すだけであまり近い距離で撮影されてないです。チャンネル登録しました❤
Ohh the noise!
We actually get to.... hear your voice!! ❤
Gee. Half of the fun of a cruise is really good food. Those meals made me hungry.
I have deep affection for you, my friend, and I want you to fully embrace life and stay safe. You have my love from Virginia, USA. Live your life to the maximum and I am thrilled that you are enjoying new experiences. Perhaps one day, I will have the opportunity to do the same, but for now, I take pleasure in hearing about your adventures.
Glad to see you on another cruise ship, Solo. Although I am sure there is quite a difference from the luxury cruise on the Asuka to a budget cruise line like MSC. Maybe one day we will even get you on a cruise ship outside of Japan. Hawaii or Alaska maybe?
