better than being served 6 months old Fish corpse with flies laying egg in it and flying around
this is more common than you think, because in the kitchen people can't tell the difference
that's why seafood restaurants often have fish tank and fish in it, because you're guaranteed to be served a fresh fish, and not a 5 Months fish corpse
      it's more of culture thing.
if you live in a country where serving Rotten meat is a common occurence, you'll value a fresh fish too

You can go to a very GOOD restaurant down here in Canada...totally top notch, and still when you order a live lobster out of a tank, it could be very, VERY OLD, and in the tank with lobsters that were already dead a day! Most of the fresh lol seafood down here in Toronto, smell like ammonia and throw up! FRESH MEANS *YOU GO TO ST.LAWRENCE FISH MARKET, AND BUY LIVE SEAFOODS TO COOK AT HOME YOURSELF. For everyone concerned about the abalone, please be comforted with the knowledge that most bivalves aren't really conscious enough to necessarily call them animals. They're closer to plants. The abalone's mind (it doesn't have one) wasn't wondering where it was, and it didn't really know what was happening until it was over. It didn't feel pain or fear, it didn't suffer. Fish are more conscious than a lot of shellfish.

"Being Eaten alive is way worse than being Steamed in a minute"
      > Steamed alive is way worse than getting dispatched properly - in this case by being dumped in icewater, which doesn't cause any pain.
Your logic doesn't make any sense. By our logic, assisted suicide by stabbing someone in the stomache with a dull knife would be completely fine, because that's better than being eaten alive by bedbugs.
"Just appreciate your food and enjoy it, by doing it, you're respecting the animal,
and gratitude toward your food and the chef who prepare it for you"
      > That's BS. How is it respectful to torture an animal, when there is a proper way to dispatch it?

Wagyu meat is pinker and much more delicate, resulting in a more flavorful, soft cut of meat. It can cook for extended periods without becoming leathery or dried up. Wagyu beef also has fat that is better and healthier than other types of meat

LIVE MOVING ABALONE!!! No matter how artistically beautiful the salad and the skill of the chef doing the prep and cooking you are cooking a creature alive! Having had a family member suffer severe burns from a large deep fryer which really hurt and took a long time to heal, I am pretty sure you would not want your nerve filled, sensitive skin placed on a grill. Sorry, culture and customs aside it doesn't wash with me. However I love your trips to the local food stalls and get a real kick out of the dollar store bargains you try.
