Part of having fun in Starfield is to use weapons and gear that look and feel satisfying to use. That Arboron rifle checks all the boxes. And I say this as someone who prefers ballistics over particle beams/lasers.
Those two weapons are really two different animals. The Arboron is a pure sniper rifle, and the Eternity's Gate, as kitted out, is an assault rifle. Two different rifles for two different jobs. I'm only lvl 41, so I haven't come across the HG, but I assume it could be modded as a sniper, which would give it the edge due to its versatility. But I will still get the Arboron once I'm level 60+. 😁

Orion is a close as you can get but that is comparable to the inflictor, Beowolfe, Etc. Again more assault rifles and purpose built sniper rifles. The gun that really toes the line of "Which is it?" is the lawgiver. I would consider that closer to sniper, but in reality I would be the same as the hunting rifle I have in my gun cabinet here.
I tried it on Tau Ceti 2 yesterday since I just started a ng+. It seemed to take more shots and longer than a similar inflictor. On people though, Nova Strike is nice.
New sniper snipes without equal, Valruun destroys it inside a building though. *EDIT PART* I mean any Valruun Rifle. Doesn't have to have any special rarity on it.
Give EG some love, Dean. Put the recon scope and amplifier on it. And if that inflictor had been instigating, we would all be laughing right now at the comparison. I mean. The Arboron is a good weapon. No doubt. But nothing to lose our minds over.
You get it from the last mission Revelation killing the Emissary. I am on NG16 and do Revelation right before going into Unity. Might change up how I do NG+ so I can get to use it.
I have 1 and I have for sniper but I saw we can change one for EM damage only to knock out enemies would love to have 2 one for killing and one for knocking would be so sweet

Agree and going further this rifle might be worth a dollar or two as opposed to seven dollar charge for the whole quest.

Either one is fine. Inflictor seems a bit more versatile.
On my last NG+, I had an Instigating Inflictor, that thing was badass

I suspect at some point the sniper rifle will be available from the Arboron vendor from the Ryujin Tower lobby on Neon.
