have you looked into the polar pro basecamp? I feel their filter system is better minus the part where it has the motorized vnd. but overall I feel it is a better system.using a mist filter with a vnd and all in really nice.
I put a small piece of cardboard in the unlock tab keeping it open so I can take the filters out with just one hand. I like that the filter trays have the bearings on each side to keep them from falling out.
Thanks, I am eyeing this one! I hate green cast in my videos but your are right, looks to be an easy correction in post. I wish you would have talked about apparently there are extra 90mm round filter cases you can get and you can apparently also take off the outer part of the matte box and connected 2 90mm case with filters meaning the VND and FX filter which was my doubt. I almost always use VND with 1/8 Black pro mist filter and not being able to use 2 90mm filters at the same time would be or is a bummer. I have only seen one video of a guy doing it and it looks to work but you cannot use the motor with that way of stacking filters.
Forget the color cast and light loss, I find the polarizing effect of variable ND's too strong for most uses, more specifically with people/skintones. Does no one else notice this??
Finding this a year later, but this matte box still seems the best (affordable) option alongside the SmallRig modular matte box option. (Any comment on that?) How would this hold up on a full frame camera? Would vignetting be an issue? Thanks again for a great review
So this is a pricey solution, and it would have been great to hear you compare it to the Freewell Promist VND solution you covered before, in terms of pros and cons.
The wireless motor actually drains the 14500 battery even when it is switched off - Tilta recommends taking out the battery whenever you don’t use the motor. They said they’re trying to fix this "quirk" with a software update in the future. What a disappointment :(
Does anyone have a problem with spotted green flares when using the VND? When I slap that ND on with my Sigma 35mm F1.4 on a komodo there's a prominent green flare showing..
Thanks for the useful information. I have a sel1224g. sel1224g has no filter groove so I can't use ND filters. Have you verified if this mattebox can be used with sel1224g?
Hey! in your b roll it looks like youre using rehoused 18-35mm sigma lenses? or is it something else? im very interested in the cinematics rehoused ones and was wondering if you have a video/review on them
Thanks for the continuous stream of quality content! Have you tried this matte box on the RF 28-70 as that has a 95mm front diameter? The small rig mini doesn’t fit mine and the misfit atom is so overpriced…
Sorry man but that gimble is the worse gimble you can use..Using it for different movements, low angles, or dynamic camera angles and movements is terrible absolutely just terrible. I used it for 5 days and immediately returned it.
NGl, the matte box might not leave my camera from now on!

Your friend that is posing for the VND review is hilarious!
great review! I didn't realize I could put the VND with the wheel on the left, going to do that now!

Awesome 🫵🏻😎 Cheers from Western Australia 🇦🇺 new sub & thumbs up 👍🏻

I might just go for a solid 2-3 stops in front for such scenario to avoid going to that X pattern territory.

very well done video Damien new subscriber here how would you say vignetting is at say a 38mm xcd v which pans out to spec of a 30mm full frame
Did you throw the lithium batteries away, that already came with the Mirage?
do you know where can I get that filter pouch?:)

Question: Are the the C70's Built-In ND's that bad that you'd need external ND's?

Does the VND have a clear option?

when you adapt the matte box to a stils lens, can you still mount a filter on the lenses filter thread itself, even with a step up ring? Thanks!
You can. You might get vignetting though

It doesn’t fit with the tilta either
@@damiencooper thanks for clarifying, think I’m going with the polar pro Basecamp. Cheers
But is there an option to get it on 114mm outer diameter cinema lens?
Not yet
Hi good video man

Every time I watch your videos you sound like you don’t like anything. Are you sure you’re not French?
Spent too much time in Vienna. 😂
Voted the unfriendliest people in the world.
Nah, just being overly cautious
@@damiencooper Haha. I love Vienna.
