Tyra was “leading” the conversation towards Yoanna having an ED. This made me realize the gaslighting we went through during this era! BE SKINNY! But make it effortless!!! And ED mean you’re weak and sick!
Almost every video Lux, you say "that's for another time". Well, makes a new series called "this is another time" or something like it and rant about all the things. It'd be great entertainment and also a great way to know who you are as a person outside of reactions but without divulging into your personal life.
There's a "friendship" culture in the u.s. where simply being polite and courteous isn't enough. It's taken as cold and rude. If you're not actively trying to befriend every coworker even the ones you don't like, people will get offended. It's really weird and annoying. It's usually taken better if you pretend to be everybody's friend even if you're rude behind their back.
Really? Why?! That sounds exhausting. So what, are you expected to have deep conversations with everyone? Remember everyone's birthdays and do personalized gift-giving etc.?
@@ChristinaRemini right!😁 I am working retail and get really uncomfortable by Americans coming in the store with their "Hiiii! How are you doing dear?"😅 No one else much initiates unnecessary conversation thank god 🤣
The saddest part is that a body dysmorphia is usually the person seeing themselves different than they are, a thin girl seeing herself fat. But in this episode, it was not her, it was everyone else telling her that she was fat, in a way. They planted this thought into her from the get go. It was heartbreaking.
I'm Italian and I love seeing Italy portrayed in American media. They always get it so wrong and yet it's so good to watch. By the way, even the "gay pet" told that one rude woman to let the girls speak without interrupting them while he was speaking in broken Italian. It was fun hearing him switch between 2 lenguages.
I was taken to A&E the other day with tachycardia. After 8 HOURS of tests and waiting, a lovely nurse informed me, "it appears that you have goiter". After 8 hours I was boarding on delirium with tiredness and all I could do was burst out with giggles. The poor nurse was so confused as I said, "I've got goiter, my love"! Thank you Luxeria for providing that moment of levity in an otherwise quite stressful time. Yes my lovely, I really do have goiter 😂🖤🖤🖤
@@elizabethbrown5289 oh my, I hope you're recovering well! I have my appointment tomorrow to see how best to proceed with treatment. I'm hoping I don't have to have surgery. Thanks ❤️
Y’know what? If I ever get diagnosed with gout I can absolutely imagine that I would break out laughing, so I’m glad it wasn’t the worst that moment could be! Good luck! Hope you’re doing much better now!
This is the weirdly judging ever. "You won the challenge for being confident but stop being confident omg" Also it is HEINOUS they created an issue surrounding Yoanna's body image. Like how legitimately monstrous
Honestly I never vibed with Yoanna that much, even back then, but this episode really gives off the "look i have a black friend now"-vibe with her whole ebony and ivory thing. I had friends who acted the same and it was always very awkward how they not perceive you as a person, but the black person. Pretty sure that Camille feels the same but doesn't say anything because you know... the angry black woman edit (which she actually got in the beginning of the season so yeah)
Camille's first reaction/response was "Ask me again when she comes back" (51:14) which I actually approve of. She wasn't going to talk about the (possible) situation behind Yoanna's back at first, and it feels like the conversation was forced to happen (most like like by producers) because DRAMA!
@@v.ra. To be fair, we - as the viewer - are not made to focus on that part (it's not emphacised by subtitles, even though the camera does zoom in on Camille). The shift in conversation is too quick, moving on to "Do we get to have our next Eating Disorder Storyline that's only going to last an episode?!" in a split second
You do realize that the question was asked in the first place because Camille made a noticeable face which would prompt anyone to follow up with another question. She didn't need to react in a way that would instigate anything. Cause and effect. She caused the accusation, she didn't shoot down the idea, and then acted like she did absolutely nothing wrong. I can see how the show has been giving Camille the villain edit in the several past episodes but this time it is ALL on her.
I don't know how to feel about them telling Mercedes that she needs to stand up for her self and "walk how she wants to walk" but immediately after when Camille stood up for herself and used her 'signature walk' they completely dragged her through the ground and said she has an attitude, and she actually won that competition! These Judges were straight up picking on her
Camille didn’t say she has an eating disorder, Tyra and Jay did. They pressed Camille for an answer and she said “Ask her when she comes back ”. Tyra and Jay bring up ED again and Camille just says “No she doesn’t leave after every meal she just goes to the bathroom a lot” Queen, she said nothing wrong, going to the bathroom a lot could mean anything from checking one’s markup to having something like IBS. It was solely Tyra and Jay pushing the ED topic. I wish I had magic powers so I could go to that time and place with my phone and show Yoanna and all the other girls what she actually said.
I've been on the other side of the ED conversation. It was horrifying to come back from the bathroom to have three people asking me if I was able to get rid of my whole meal. I felt so betrayed and disgusted.
I think that if Camille was genuinely concerned about Yoanna, the grown adult thing to do would be to go to Yoanna and ask if she was okay. Not to bring it up to a room full of people without her even being there to defend herself. It feels very gross to do that. Express the concern to the person you are concerned about first, not a bunch of other people.
Yoanna has openly criticized and maligned Camille throughout the entire competition without provocation. She honestly deserves no more kindness or consideration for her image or feelings
While I definitely think your sentiment is true, I don't think I can say Camille was guilty of this, Jay and Tyra are more guilty of it I think than Camille. If you rewatch Camille was /never/ leading that conversation, never mentioned eating disorders (or even hinted at really from what I could tell, though I could be wrong) that was all Jay and Tyra. Jay starts the discussion and Camille, actually, says: "Ask her when she comes back." But Jay and Tyra don't do that. Camille just tries to answer questions Jay and Tyra keep asking. I'm also not overlooking the fact that they never show us any confessional from Camille here about what she was really doing or thought, which could really shed some light for us. Just in general it kind of has production written all over this "villain Camille tries to sabotage Yoanna" plotline. I mean, production completely made up Elyse's whole eating disorder storyline, part of which involved production planting the idea into contestants' heads that it was happening until they actually thought Elyse really had one and started to talk about it, giving them the content they wanted for the show - I wouldn't be surprised they were kind of trying this idea out again and just got a different story to cut and tell.
The obsession with sizes in the fashion industry is wild to me. Like the smallest I’ve ever been is a US size 10 and I looked emaciated. My mom was shocked when I got home from college and she could see my ribs. The frame of my skeleton wouldn’t ALLOW for me to ever be a size zero and that’s the case for the majority of people.
No, that’s not the case for “majority” of people. Are you a doctor? Like how would you even know that? Where are you getting this data? I’ve never seen a size 10 person look even remotely emaciated in appearance. So I would say that’s impossible for the majority 🤷♀️
@@katet8639 But the models are not "very tall" even if taller than the average. I'm 5,9 which is somewhat taller than 5.8 and am a US size 8-10 and I am a bit overweight. But I have a frame I would likely look very bony if I would diet down to a size zero, 2 or even 4. But for that I don't actually need to have my actual personal size at the catwalks and in ads. Why the obsession with "fashion size" not being average, or no need to be offended for not having your personal size at the samples at the catwalks.
@@johannas.l.brushane2518 Firstly learn to read, I'm not talking about the models, I'm talking about the individual commenting. Secondly, I don't care about your useless self information, it's irrelevant. Since no one knows how tall this person or how their frame is. Everyone is different. Move on
@@katet8639Maybe you should calm down. I was as well commenting on the person commenting they couldn't look well in a size 0 and therefore implied that the fashion industry have an obsession. I kind of questioned the idea to why the sample sizes in fashion would necessarily fit all. You hardly ever see people being upset about top league basket players being tall etc but it's strangely an idea (or an obsession perhaps) that average but largeframed or overweight people's sizes must be displayed on the fashion shows. The sample sizes have been what they are for like forever for a specific reason, some models can be shorter but it's easy to fix a fit with a couple of pins in the garment. Maybe the person is like 6.8 tall where they also be too tall for the sample size and possible then having a more real problem of finding clothes to purchase
Antm orchestrated the challenge to tackle each girls's insecurity. Its's disgusting and didnt click with me in this specific instance. A younger me assumed they were unnecessarily harsh in their delivery, but genuinely some degree of what they said. Nuggets of wisdom hidden in an abusive delivery. Yoanna: You lost weight? Let's make you feel insecure about your body April: You're a smart girl, let's ask you a question and berate you for giving an eloquent response Camille: You take pride in your walk? Let's look down on you and your confidence Mercedes: You are a strong overall model? Let's slap you with "crippling" commercial label Shandi: You are new to the modelling world and growing into your confidence? Let's ask you why you even belong here.
@@Luxeria It could have all the funding it could stand, Lux. It would never be enough. They purposely designed it in a way that made it obscenely expensive, 10 or more years ago. The companies that their donors have shares in, however - they're laughing allll the way to the bank. The NHS does not exist. It's been privatised. The big lie is that we must fight against the NHS being privatised. It's done. It's gone. @@dannydarkense5500 Oh absolutely, it needs to be preserved! It's vital to us as a country and as a people, and I'm horrified by how it has been trashed. It makes me incredibly angry. I'm not saying it should be thrown away though. It should be taken back by the country, as a public service. That's OUR resource, and by rights it belongs to us, not a gazillion private companies. They've screwed it up so much now, to the point that they actually need to hire companies as go-betweens, to make sure exorbitantly expensive Company A (which they hired) can get all of the necessary information to exorbitantly expensive Company B (which they also hired). So Company C is hired as the go-between, because Company B hasn't got a clue about Company A - it's a totally separate company, and they're not allowed to talk to each other because, by law, they are supposed to be competing with each other.
this very episode impacted my health severely when i watched this at 14 (apart from other environmental pressures to enable this lifestyle) i not only felt severely pressured to be a 0 (i was a 2) and seeing how “okay” it was to abuse my body and to restrict eating. this episode’s lack of how to appropriately treat an eating disorder fueled my anorexia for the rest and current life. i looked up to tyra banks because i thought she knew what she was doing, i trusted that, especially when she says “i’ve never had an eating disorder” or something along those lines, as a 14 year old she was a resource that “understood” the pressure of societal skinniness. i’m 31 now and just want to say thank you for saying everything you said in regards to this very issue, because that advice was the truth i needed when i was 14. thanks queen.
Same. I was a 2 also and starved myself down to a 0 and STILL thought i was overweight. I’m a size 10 now and couldn’t be happier 😅 obviously i work out now and eat enough food
That whole ED scene at the dinner table was manufactured by Jay and Tyra. Camille didn’t make any sort of face that she didn’t always make. She naturally just kinda had a sardonic look to her, she wasn’t making a face after Yoanna left. Jay was pushing Camille to say what production wanted her to say. I guarantee there is more of that conversation cut out that proves that Jay and Tyra were pushing her. Production wanted Camille to be the villain sooooooo badly
I had an eating disorder and it wasn't considered an eating disorder. I was told it wasn't a problem, that I was just lazy and disengaged from my Type 1 diabetes. However, diabulimia IS a very dangerous eating disorder. I got zero help from my diabetic consultant and no empathy. The negligence in my care has caused me to become legally blind (long story). Plus, I'm bigger than I've ever been, which is extremely hard to deal with, on top of a disability. It's totally destroyed any confidence I had and all my independence is gone. It's really screwed up my mental health 😞
Buildings from 1800’s are considered ancient here in North America. Pretty rare to find anything from 1700’s so I’m inlove seeing all these multi hundred years old buildings in other parts of the world
That bit with the eating disorder absolutely felt manufactured and manipulated. It was so gross. Like they planted the idea earlier, she felt down and bad about it, which had the thought already hanging there. THEN Tyra asks about it later.
My heart breaks for Yoanna... I know this is the industry, but the feeling surrounding this situation is sickening. It is also terrible to think about the message they are sending the young audiences that continue to watch this series. Circumstances that make a person "hate" themselves or not feel "good enough" are so hard to watch. Relatable and so sad.
Didn't Tyra eventually admit to having disordered eating and problems around that? But the entire run of the show she just pushed thise body image issues.
How on earth does Luxeria not have at least 500,000 subscribers? This channel is pure joy. I don't think I've ever wanted to give a you tuber a hug so bad in my life! Love you Luxeria!
Found your channel by accident and stayed for these videos 😊 I appreciate your style, content and personality. About Camielle in this episode : I feel like Tyra led the conversation in that direction to create drama. Immediately after Tyra asked about Yoanna, Camielle said, "ask [Yoanna] when she comes back" and instead of doing THAT, which was the correct way to handle it, Tyra kept pressing that there must be an eating disorder. All Camielle did was make a face. I feel like the whole thing was taken out of context to justify previous episodes of making Camielle look like a villian when Yoanna behaved much worse. I'm not saying Yoanna deserved to have that rumour about a potential eating disorder placed on her - it wasn't handled properly by Tyra or Jay. Remember, Yoanna had to find Tyra to set the record straight instead of the other way around... like Camielle originally suggested. That, to me, implies that Tyra only wanted to stir drama rather than showing true concern for the ladies. Poor Camielle was mistreated and misunderstood on this show but her confidence wouldn't let it break her or change who she is. I loved Top Model as a teenager; however, as an adult who has rewatched the series (up to cycle 22) perhaps twice, I've found that it was more about breaking ppl down than building them up. Another girl in cycle 3, was also a victim of this. She had so much confidence in herself and her culture/background and Tyra & co. tried everything to tear it down, including denying her the title she clearly deserved, imo. Ok, rant over (lol). Thank you for all you do!
Only recently found this channel as well, and I completely agree with you. Camielle was a strong, confident, woman and it seems like those are the women that they tear down the most. Like... Tyra & co can't have the competition (first off), and they want the ability to say "look at these girls that are so unsure & weak, and WE made them strong & beautiful". They can't do that with women like Camielle & it ruins their "look how wonderful we are" thing they want to portray. Absolutely terrible
It's a SCANDAL girls!! I always look forward to these episodes - I never watched ANTM because it was a bit before my time so it's like watching them for real (except you're watching it with a glamourous best friend) 💜all my love, beautiful!
Yoanna smoked cigarettes after dinner. She smoked constantly to lower her appetite. She talked about it after the show often. They were so mean about her body just because. So many models died during this time, the criticism over weight was a huge problem.
I've seen Jameela Jamil talk about how heroin chic is coming back into fashion and how we have to reject it and watching this really encapsulates how it was back then. If you're comfortable, it would be interesting to hear your take on the way fashion/body trends are going, although I think we know what you'd say x
@@CherrrrBear sorry do you mean what? If so, it's the early 2000's size 0 supermodel look. In terms of who, Kate Moss is typically the one people use as an example x
I have 2 problems with "heroin chic": firstly because I used to be a heroin addict and opiate addiction is still very prevalent out there killing people. Second, because bodily things that cant be controlled should have never started being a trend. We have gone far but still have far to go
I really hope all young people will be able to reject it, it's not even in fashion but they're trying to force this shit on young people. And why does a body type have to be in fashion, bodies are not fashion? Time for every body accepted as the same.
I grew up watching this show, I was a fat teen, and seeing how they talked about Yoanna's body feels like they have never seen a fat person before, if they ever saw me they would shoot thinking I'm a wild animal.
Evelyn Nesbit achieved great fame more than a century ago as a model. She revolutionised cultural life being the FIRST supermodel back in the guilded age then there was twiggy and hundreds more before that silver dress biohazard
I hope youre doing great now♡ I know the feeling, antm has contributed greatly to my body image issues. Still working with the shit after around fourteen or so years when I started to watch it at the age of twelve or younger.
About these shows having Zero aftercare. True story: the first season of Expedition Robinson (I think it were called Survivor when taken to other countries) were filmed here in Sweden in 1997. And the first person who got voted out went home and unalived himself. His widow tried to stop TV from airing it, but of course they didn't care. And that is how this form of competition reality TV was born. With a contestant dieing by his own hand at the very start, and the TV company ignoring the fact. THAT IS HOW IT ALL STARTED.
When I moved to England for Uni I was shocked at how different the sizing is. The fact that our size 0 is a size 4 in Europe... advertising adult clothes that are even smaller than our 0 is baffling to me. Especially considering that while 90% of advertising in fashion is for sizes 6 or smaller, over 80% of women are considerably above that size. Yet fashion is deemed "not for them" :(
I find a lot of it has to do with after the Wars in Europe, everyone was tiny because there was simply not enough food for people to be anything other than malnourished (which is when Chanel etc. were all designing and growing into the great fashion houses they are). Also Italian, French and Spanish women have a reputation for being very petite and bird-like. It's why Zara and a bunch of highstreet shops owned by Italians and other mainland European countries all don't carry anything above a size 12/14.
@@bumblingplatypus756 No, it has probably to do with that the camera typically add on a couple of kgs in the image. Why the sizes on the runways have a certain sizerange.
About the dancing cringe part, I will say cringe is an emotion felt very subjectively, so there is nothing wrong with you feeling severely unwell when seeing non-dancers dance. But I do enjoy a casual wiggling around and swinging my limbs up and down at the bar when tipsy. :D
Honestly that entire conversation at the dinner table feels like it should have been cut out of the final episode if they were genuinely concerned about the well-being of any of their contestants. Instead they shot extra footage and called Tyra back for another conversation with Yoanna to make the whole thing into a storyline instead, which I think really shows just how little they actually cared about any of them as living people.
Absolutely had an eating disorder as a teen. My mum and aunt were models in NYC when they were young and they used to say a lot of highly "questionable" things to me and my sister when we were young (I'm a trans guy). A common one was "if you lost 20# you would be perfect", at like 15. I was 5'9 and probably 135# soaking wet.
My friend had a cousin who was a victoria secret model and was constantly told to lose weight by her agent and my friend's self esteem was always shitty because even though she was an average (thin) weight she wasn't even as thin as her cousin and her cousin was constantly trying to lose weight it was nuts.
No-one can say if Yoanna has an ED or not, but I can say the odds of her admitting having ED when asked about it during the competition are zero. She wants nothing more than to become a top model, and she seems to have the type of personality, which knows what to say and when to say it in order to advance. She would never say it aloud to Tyra, because if she did, she'd be sent home. It's in the nature of ED to make you pretend everything is okay, because otherwise someone might intervene. I'm not really a fan of Yoanna, and a part of me suspects she was being a little manipulative being so friendly with Camille, but then again, I don't know what Camille's intentions were, either. It's clear the production is doing their darndest to cause drama and they don't care if the girls eat or purge, as long as it doesn't impact their performance. And I feel sorry for Mercedes for being called commercial all the time. She seems the most genuine of the girls.
One of my cats finally decided to sit with me, so I consider this perfect timing to sit back and sip the tea! How are you doing Lux? (Aside from the UK's usual gout) Much love from England's next top Pigeon!

Loving this series. The one thing I have always thought about ANTM, and in reference to the 'psychic' saying they have to be friends, is that the people who have the final say really (not the judges, but the modelling agency and more importantly Cover Girl) want to hire someone 'likeable' as the face of their brand, and if not likeable then they must have a good 'story' to help market the brand. Although, as one of the contestants from season 3 once said on an ANTM expose that was shown many years ago on VH1 (blast from the past) 'its not a modelling competition, its a reality TV show', so what do I know?
“No, actually, you're just going to the agency, and you're going to talk to the receptionist for a little bit ✌️🏼😜” I died! I laughed so hard 🤣 you're so funny! I love your videos; you really make my day! I listen (cause I can't watch) even when I’m at work lol! Thank you for doing what you do! ❤️
Yoanna’s body is as skinny as she can be AND still be healthy!!!! That’s horrible!!! Then later they further play it up saying she’s larger than the other girls, just disgusting 🤢 edit: plus it was faked and he said she was BIGGG!! wtf
“A pterodactyl has arrived” followed by the fucking fade out 😂 NOT FAIR I have been doing so many workouts on my core and hitting the gym harder than I have in months so I’m incredibly sore! AND. THE WAY I LAUGHED …. Oh god the PAIN😂😫🤣
I really expected that Camille, April and Shandy will be the final top 3. And as always, judges were rude and arrogant, but I absolutely love Luxeria's commentary and jokes, so I will watch this and every single video about ANTM on this chanel.
This was the ultimate humble Camille episode. She won the challenge, which is kind of the perfect sneak peek into “can this model be successful in the industry” but because of a fake go-see and uninspiring styling on her photo shoot, she was sent home. The whole ED Scandal I think was blown out of proportion. I hate to keep on defending Camille because she should not have insinuated that Yoanna might have an ED. If she answered more definitively, it’s possible that it would have turned into nothing. But she was directly asked a question by Jay about why she was making a face and they really did kind of call her out in the worst way possible. I make faces all the time, and some are involuntary, but if someone would be like “WHAT WAS THAT ALL ABOUT???” I would completely shut down, even when given the opportunity to nip it in the bud. I blame production/Tyra/Jay more than I blame Camille tbh.
Yes exactly! I interpreted her answers as her just being really nervous because she was put into a situation designed to make Yoanna and the others dislike her again. She has had to watch her every word through out the whole cycle and was probably scared of being targeted again.
I catch myself singing “scandal girl scandal girl omigod it’s a scandal girl” and people at work look at me like a legitimate lunatic. It’s catchy tune! Thank you for the content….I’m in love with it!
Yoanna said in an interview with Oliver Twixt that she would actually go and call her grandmother, so she wasn’t actually going to the bathroom. She knew she could take her microphone off if she was going to the bathroom while they were out somewhere but she would actually just go and find a phone.
When they said you are getting your portrait done I thought they were going to get one of those caricatures done where their head looks like a misshapen hot air balloon. Also that jump cutie otter makes my life every single time.
Fake agent: Why should she take you April: if she tells me what she wan… Fake agent: why are you explaining it to me What??? You asked!! I don’t know if I’d be ripping mine, his, or her hair out, but fur would be flying
And then Fake agent continues: "Explain why you need to go into this explanation..." So "Explain why you explained when I asked you to explain..." Super reasonable!
You are the best. Thank you for thinking to include your final thoughts from the last episode. I will admit I was a little disappointed when it cut off. Can’t wait to watch you spill the scalding hot tea on Americas next top scandal! I was getting such Lizzie McGuire movie vibes watching them ride around Italy on the mopeds! 😂
I always have auto-generated captions on and some of the things it "hears" are so funny. Go-sees are "Ghosties" 😂. Some of the things it's come out with (especially when you and Roly are having a funny tangent) are hilarious!
The way they used the fact that Yonna potentially had a eating disorder to further edit Camille as this big bad villain is disgusting how did America's next Top model really get away with this
Yes and they are super shady in the edit about her “personality”. But they often do the same story line with the black girls. It’s always a tough love story line about them being tooo much or confident and that their own ruin. They tell the girls to be confident but then cut down the confident women for being “rude” Gross
Yeah...this was one of the things that destroyed my relationship with my body back in the day. If Yoanna being a size 2 was too fat to model, then what did that make me as a size 6-8 at the time (quite a bit larger now). I've always dreamed of being a performer, but the fatphobia in fashion/arts/tv etc. is still so real and present.
You're so spot on with why Americans (at least me) are obsessed with architecture in Europe. My house is considered "really old" and it was built in 1909. But there are places in Europe older than my whole country 😂
My house in the UK is from 1909 too (an Edwardian villa). The row of houses are still referred to as 'the modern houses' by older people who remember their parents/grandparents calling them that. The houses had 'indoor' flushing toilets, which was completely unheard of locally (you still had to go outside to access them but they were part of the main house). 😂
@@GothBoyUK I bet that house is beautiful! Similarly, our houses from that time had the same plumbing quirks. The bathroom on my main level was a complete add on and is horribly insulated so feels like you're going outside to poo even though it's attached to the house now 😂
The last time I was watching one of these my partner poked a bit of fun at me for watching SO MANY antm reaction vids. I explained to him that we were all collectively trying to dismantle the trauma that watching this show when we were young had caused us 😂 I was asked a handful of times when I was younger if I ever considered modeling, and because of the effect this show had on me I always said no. My dance studio once had a casting person from a dancewear catalogue come and do test shots with us, mostly for the experience- I almost didn’t even do it (even though I did really enjoy taking dance photos) because I was told we would have to fit into a small size leotard, and I wore M-L in classes at the time. I did squeeze into the S for the photos and it was fine, but I was never given the impression that the modeling world would be open to me even if I wanted it to be 🤷🏼♀️

what you said about the architecture, i was once chatting to an American who was bragging, really bitchy bragging about her "old house, very very old" I asked her how old it was, and she said "150 years" I just laughed and said "How cute you have a "New Build" she shut up after that

Speaking as someone who was naturally very skinny and went to the bathroom a lot, I can say that it really damaged my psyche when my friends and family would try to pry at me to determine if I had ED. I know they meant well but it made me feel like body was just up for debate and gossip, which ironically caused some disordered eating for me. I don't know what the answer is ,tbh. Honestly, expressing concern for someone's health and offering support is a good thing but... when done wrong, it can cause so much unintentional harm. Regardless, I don't think Camille was genuinely concerned about Yoanna. I got the sense that she was deliberately trying to sabotage the judge's view of her.

As someone who’s had an eating disorder and became dangerously I’ll from it, people simply ‘keeping an eye on it’ is useless, the fact that they are aware to some degree of the situation and not doing anything about it effectively means that they are condoning what is happening and allowing it to continue/worsen, the only way to actually help someone with an ed is to make the effort to actively intervene
I'm from Poland, but live in UK since I was 14, so I am a lot more used to seeing people from other cultures than those who rarely leave Poland. Last time I visited, on my way home, the coach drove past a black couple, the amount of people looking at them going past, as if they were an attraction... Actually shocked me. We also have a poem called 'Murzynek bambi', which now reading it as an adult I feel very uncomfortable about it. It's an old poem, but it still doesn't feel right.
I live in a very white part of the USA and every time I go visit my brother in a place with a larger black population it surprises me. When you see people unlike the people you see everyday, it does feel a bit like they are an attraction. I am very careful not to convey any of that with how I act, however.
Luxeria. Thank you. I am currently home with covid and this is one of the highlights of my life right now. I love watching your ANTM videos. Thank you so much.
I was a dancer for over a decade. For me it's about the emotion. If someone is dancing untrained but enjoying themselves then I'm usually fine watching it. But if someone is dancing and feeling embarrassed or something it reads all over the performance and I cringe
The weather is frightful! Here in Seattle it’s miserable. We had a windstorm over the weekend that uprooted trees and destroyed several cars in my condo parking lot. Today it’s starting to snow (mixed with rain). It’s hard to believe a month ago it was 85° and we were dealing with smoke from forest fires. As far as the whole potential eating disorder situation, it was handled so poorly in my opinion. My daughter has a food aversion. She’s 5’10” and weighs about 115 lbs. She’s very fit and we keep an eye on her diet. She’s under a doctors care and has been since she was 3. She’s 20 now. People would say “ She will outgrow it” like she was just a picky eater. It drove me crazy. I’m grateful that she has gotten better over the years but any food related issue is sensitive and should be handled off camera.
I think that Tyra suspected that only Camille was hinting at the "always goes to the bathroom" drama & knew that there was gonna be an argument as a result of it,cos no other girl was agreeing with tyras line of questioning, might explain the casual response of "just keep an eye on it"
OOOOOkay. Wow. This brings up so much for me. I have been naturally underweight my entire life, but especially as a gangly teenager. Certain... TYPES of people would make my body their business ALL the time, and I got accusatory looks, comments, and questions on a regular basis. People stare at me when I eat. If I use the bathroom at a restaurant, I'm met with this same treatment, which is infuriating -- "normal" sized people use the bathroom during meals ALL THE TIME and nobody bats an eye. Being thin doesn't make these accusations okay. Especially since I've never had these accusations come from someone out of a genuine place of CONCERN, it's always been people who don't know me very well trying to virtue signal and be the hero. And anyway, eating disorders are a medical condition, and you don't sit around the table gossiping about someone's cancer or MS or even depression, do you? Because THAT would be ridiculous. 🙄 People starting rumors about me combined with relatives trying to force feed me far too much food against my objections ended up causing me food-triggered panic disorder and general anxiety disorder. Ironically, I often have to excuse myself to the bathroom during restaurant outings because I'm becoming overstimulated and anxious, and I need to feel like I can escape the situation. But depending on who I'm with, I'm afraid to do what I need to do, because they will have THIS CONVERSATION about me when I'm absent. That is completely inappropriate and please don't do this to people. If you're really ACTUALLY concerned for someone you know pretty well, you don't need an immediate confrontation over it, it'll still be there to talk about later when the setting isn't a restaurant ffs. Sit them down in a safe and comfortable setting and express your concerns without judgment or anger. It likely isn't the first time they've heard this and they might get upset and hurt; if you're willing to risk that, then allow them their feelings on it. Do not mention the person's physical appearance as part of this conversation -- telling someone they LOOK terrible isn't going to help under any circumstances. DON'T GOSSIP about a person's body and very private health behind their back, that's reprehensible. I might have been able to live a happy life free of clinical anxiety if people had just been kind about their concerns about me rather than gossiping maliciously about me and making me feel absolutely hideous. I was almost kicked out of my high school because someone who WAS NOT MY FRIEND (who also actually did have bulimia, by the way, and she thought that meant she had ED radar 😡) reported falsehoods about me to the school. They told me I had to check into a rehab or they'd expel me for "being a poor example for other girls." I get my figure from my mother. I told them to call her. I could hear her screaming through the phone from across the office. 😊👍🏼 it took me years to recover from the way that entire situation made me feel. I had never felt uglier. Sometimes people really should just mind their own business.
The portrait things are everywhere. I live in Bath, & they’re out for the tourists every single day. Also I’m from Australia & from what I remember it’s a thing there too, in the main shopping areas.
I had (and still struggle with) an eating disorder. It was at its peak this time last year. Getting down to 100lbs and still feeling too big. It’s scary, it’s awful. So draining and painful. My self esteem was (and still is) in the trash because of the issues of feeling not good enough

That would be awesome, actualy

Oooh, nice idea. I say Aye! Love a good rant.
I would watch that so much!
You, my friend, are a genius.
True. I ignore those social “rules”. It makes some people upset, but I’d rather be genuine than a liar, manipulator, or fake
Really? Why?! That sounds exhausting. So what, are you expected to have deep conversations with everyone? Remember everyone's birthdays and do personalized gift-giving etc.?

The saddest part is that a body dysmorphia is usually the person seeing themselves different than they are, a thin girl seeing herself fat. But in this episode, it was not her, it was everyone else telling her that she was fat, in a way. They planted this thought into her from the get go. It was heartbreaking.
That's exactly how body dysmorphia starts, too. It did with my mother, and myself. Sad

Good point. I didn't catch that before you mentioned it
You don't think it was a sneaky little comment made after faking the friendship for the week, and all the "ebony and ivory" comments?
Perfect way to start my morning!! A gorgeous Lux and a hateful program ive come to retro-actively find problematic after years idolizing it
I know right! I feel the same 😭
The perfect comment!!❤

I've been on the other side of the ED conversation. It was horrifying to come back from the bathroom to have three people asking me if I was able to get rid of my whole meal. I felt so betrayed and disgusted.
I think that if Camille was genuinely concerned about Yoanna, the grown adult thing to do would be to go to Yoanna and ask if she was okay. Not to bring it up to a room full of people without her even being there to defend herself. It feels very gross to do that. Express the concern to the person you are concerned about first, not a bunch of other people.
She didn’t even bring it up though…
It was a set up by production!
Yoanna has openly criticized and maligned Camille throughout the entire competition without provocation. She honestly deserves no more kindness or consideration for her image or feelings
@@kissit012 I feel the same way.
@@Bea56601 This person maybe very tall. A size ten on a short person may not look the same on a tall person. So why are you even being so defensive?
@@katet8639 But the models are not "very tall" even if taller than the average. I'm 5,9 which is somewhat taller than 5.8 and am a US size 8-10 and I am a bit overweight.
But I have a frame I would likely look very bony if I would diet down to a size zero, 2 or even 4. But for that I don't actually need to have my actual personal size at the catwalks and in ads. Why the obsession with "fashion size" not being average, or no need to be offended for not having your personal size at the samples at the catwalks.
@@johannas.l.brushane2518
Firstly learn to read, I'm not talking about the models, I'm talking about the individual commenting.
Let's make you feel insecure about your body
April: You're a smart girl, let's ask you a question and berate you for giving an eloquent response
Camille: You take pride in your walk? Let's look down on you and your confidence
Mercedes: You are a strong overall model? Let's slap you with "crippling" commercial label
Shandi: You are new to the modelling world and growing into your confidence? Let's ask you why you even belong here.

Wishing you the best! It's a messy system for sure, and you deserve the best support to get through this.
@@Luxeria It could have all the funding it could stand, Lux. It would never be enough. They purposely designed it in a way that made it obscenely expensive, 10 or more years ago. That's why, although the country ploughs money into it, none of that gets spent on patient care, and nurses still get shitty wages.
The companies that their donors have shares in, however - they're laughing allll the way to the bank. The NHS does not exist. It's been privatised. The big lie is that we must fight against the NHS being privatised. It's done. It's gone. That doesn't mean it shouldn't be improved, or that there shouldn't be a long, hard look taken at how the money it gets is being distributed and spent. I agree that it's flawed, but I think it needs fixing, not just writing off.

Jay and tyra still dont think they ever did anything wrong. More so jay though. He blames it all on tyra lol 🤡🤡
So damn sociopathic by this show to play with these young womens feelings, make people feel horrible and destroy possible friendships for drama.

Yoanna smoked cigarettes after dinner. She smoked constantly to lower her appetite. She talked about it after the show often. They were so mean about her body just because. So many models died during this time, the criticism over weight was a huge problem.

Who the hell is heroin chic!?

TIL Robinson and Survivor is the same thing (am Swedish)

God we all deserved so much better. I hope you are doing better now love, at least as adults its easier to get away from toxic family
She seems the most genuine of the girls.
to be honest here tyra's "rap" lives rent free in my head for some strange reason 😂
One of my cats finally decided to sit with me, so I consider this perfect timing to sit back and sip the tea! How are you doing Lux? (Aside from the UK's usual gout) Much love from England's next top Pigeon!
Amazing!! Give little kitty a cuddle from me!
@@Luxeria of course! Shes a sweet little black rescue cat called Gizmo, but I have another called Luna who is not so little because she eats through all the cat food packets when noone is watching!
1:10:28 Notice how they're purposely framing a black woman as aggressive. Because she did what Tyra said and stood up for herself.
Yeah sure Tyra, cat calling sure makes women feel all hot and sexy, and not at all icky and scared. WTF.🙄🙄
“No, actually, you're just going to the agency, and you're going to talk to the receptionist for a little bit ✌️🏼😜”
I died!
"...and her little gay pet, too" in that accent 🤣 Luxeria, I'm dead!!!
I can't even think about ANTM these days without my brain filling in "SCANDAL GIRLS!" 🤣🤣♥️
*mentions cameo*
me, immediately turns to boyfriend: i know what i want for my birthday 🥳

Fake agent: Why should she take you
April: if she tells me what she wan…
Fake agent: why are you explaining it to me
What??? You asked!! I don’t know if I’d be ripping mine, his, or her hair out, but fur would be flying
And then Fake agent continues: "Explain why you need to go into this explanation..."
So "Explain why you explained when I asked you to explain..." Super reasonable!
Girl, don't make us wait two weeks for Scandal Girls. My heart can't take the anticipation. Haha
LOVING watching this with you
You are the best.
My adhd brain started fizzing at the mention of rain and stormy noises YES. Nothing beats a Lux upload, a cosy night and a warm bevoiragée 🖤🔥
I can't hear the ANTM intro now without throwing in 'SCANDAL, GIRLS' adlibs 💀 Lux you look STUNNING!
Look at the way Tyra says ‘probably yeah’ when Yoana asks about her ‘toning’. She couldn’t give a crap
You're so spot on with why Americans (at least me) are obsessed with architecture in Europe. My house is considered "really old" and it was built in 1909. But there are places in Europe older than my whole country 😂
The oldest house I've lived in is 500 year old. I loved it but had to move in another city.
@@tdelioncourt1268 that would be my dream come true. Was the upkeep challenging on a house of that age?
I did squeeze into the S for the photos and it was fine, but I was never given the impression that the modeling world would be open to me even if I wanted it to be 🤷🏼♀️
My body is a temple, I’m not going to abuse it. I was just outside SMOKING CIGARETTES 😂😵 gross
I want to be America's Next Top Pigeon 😭LOL watching these episodes with you is fantastic and your editing and the clips you put in makes me laugh so hard I'm cackling, I love the swan eating that paper sign 😂
I love it when it rains and storms and there is a constant chance of being impaled by a wayward branch! ⛈️
Yes!!!!!
Lately I have been watching a lot of yours and Roly's videos and it has been really comforting. The videos with both of you are my favorite obviously. You two make your audience feel like we're friends and we are in on all these inside jokes. Also my inner monolog starts to sound like you two 😂 I'm sure you two's mannerisms and speaking patterns will start spilling into my real life. I'll just start insterting GOUT into every conversation and everyone is going to be like wtf 🤣
Thank you (and Roly) for being a comforting presence in my life right now 😊💜
what you said about the architecture, i was once chatting to an American who was bragging, really bitchy bragging about her "old house, very very old"
I asked her how old it was, and she said "150 years"
I just laughed and said "How cute you have a "New Build"
she shut up after that
you and Roly are seeping intoo my subconscious mind! yesterday I was playing games with my hubby, Stardew Valley, and he got in bed with one of the NPCs and I said "TOUCH ME IN THE BED". Needless to say he was confused and I was cackling like mad. love your ANTM vids btw, theyre my highlight on RUclips at the mo, next to your surgery documentary/reality reactions
“Gout!”
thank you for purring i am delighted
I love whenever you edit in a clip of Roly. It's always so perfect and hilarious! You made my Monday
Hi Luxeria thanks so much for these videos xx. Got me through so much overtime the last few weeks
You’re welcome lovely! Hope you enjoy this one!
America's Next Top Scandalous Disaster, girls!!!! It's crazy to think this wasn't so long ago. I know we've been through some dark times lately, but watching shows like this does prove that we've changed for the better, at least in some areas. Thanks for another great video Luxeria, all my love, beautiful. PS - I love the collar! It's very you!
I eat like a beast and shit like a elephant it's cool cuz is freak metabolism but i gotta be in rest and digest all the time cuz I'm very anemic and would go in body shock when monthly period says hi, unless I devour organ meats every day
As someone who’s had an eating disorder and became dangerously I’ll from it, people simply ‘keeping an eye on it’ is useless, the fact that they are aware to some degree of the situation and not doing anything about it effectively means that they are condoning what is happening and allowing it to continue/worsen, the only way to actually help someone with an ed is to make the effort to actively intervene
*I’ll not I’ll
"a pterodactyl has arrived" absolutely sent me, had to pause the video to comment this haha
Oh no Luxeria. They never used any critiques from the fake go-see. The first go-see Yoanna went to, she criticized her body.
When Tyra began to rap, i thought i saw your soul dissapear for a moment 😂
I was a dancer for over a decade. For me it's about the emotion. If someone is dancing untrained but enjoying themselves then I'm usually fine watching it. But if someone is dancing and feeling embarrassed or something it reads all over the performance and I cringe
Oh my goodness I love your choker so much! You look absolutely gorgeous, and I'm very excited for another SCANDAL to get me through the day🖤💜
Thankyou!!
Luxeria's "purring" sounded like Tyra's pterodactyl noise she made earlier LOL oh my god 🤣❤
I think that Tyra suspected that only Camille was hinting at the "always goes to the bathroom" drama & knew that there was gonna be an argument as a result of it,cos no other girl was agreeing with tyras line of questioning, might explain the casual response of "just keep an eye on it"
You’re too funny! You also have impeccable timing. Instant sub.
yo i was just getting on my lunch break and was like "oh no, no new Roly or Luxaria content" and then I refreshed 🙌
Yes!! Every Monday and Thursday at this time! 😂
Tyra made it her job to trigger Johanna's body image problems
OOOOOkay. 🙄
People starting rumors about me combined with relatives trying to force feed me far too much food against my objections ended up causing me food-triggered panic disorder and general anxiety disorder.
Yoanna "larger"? I just can't fathom what they're even talking about, but then I'm not in the fashion industry...
I had (and still struggle with) an eating disorder. It was at its peak this time last year. Getting down to 100lbs and still feeling too big. It’s scary, it’s awful. So draining and painful. My self esteem was (and still is) in the trash because of the issues of feeling not good enough
