If all the photos were bad, maybe the problem was the photographer, and Yaya was right to ask him to slow down to let her pose. And Jay said that was her having an attitude. It seems her "attitude" was right all along.
Also, the photoshoot just seemed so out of place compared to the looks shown as Street Style. The Matrix reference was totally nonsensical. Heck, some of the shapes they used for the makeup looked like it wasn't altered to fit thier face better.

Hey Luxeria, can you possibly sort out subtitles please? For some reason it says they aren't available for this video. My Mum won't be able to watch the scandal without it girl!
As a person with a visual Impairment, I can't imagine being left in another country where I don't speak the language and try to find my way around with little to no help 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
Right?? She doesn’t even have a guide dog or anything, not that I’m sure that would necessarily help in this situation but surely she needed SOME accommodation
They definitely did not give them enough money to buy a decent Lolita outfit. Individual pieces of that style can run hundreds of dollars each, and they only gave them about $200 for an entire outfit.
Even 20 years ago? I know they said it wasn’t a ton of money in the episode, but I’m so curious how the pricing would have been for an average outfit back then!
@@janesays1278 Looking through Lolibrary, a Meta dress retailed for about 32k yen back in 2004. 1 USD was about 110 Yen back then, so a dress would be like $290. So yeah you certainly couldn't get a whole outfit for $200 bought new. Even now it's difficult. Tbf though, they did include ClosetChild which is a 2ndhand store but of course that requires a lot more browsing and more use of time.
My genuine belief is that most problematic factor of ANTM is jay Manuel. The way he gaslit these poor women into thinking they were failures is actually so sickening to watch all these years later. I’m sure every week they purposefully chose THE WORST pic of Ann because they wanted to break her and break her friendship with Eva.
Agree he can be so incredibly nasty and manipulative, though sometimes he can be nice too but I hate it so much how he's always playing with girls feelings, like if he (or production) thinks a girl is not doing so well or feeling insecure as example he always seem to make them feel even worse (with his remarks) instead of encouraging the person he notices is feeling insecure like a mentor should do. It just feels so toxic, he should remember that they are still young and not fully developed adults yet and more sensitive. I suppose back then mental health was not that important.
She didn’t have a friendship with Eva. She was delusional and projecting her own codependency onto a stranger. They are in competition and Eva was being friendly. The same as everyone else.
Definitely. Jay Manuel definitely had favourites which seems unfair to be so obvious about it. And he says things before the photoshoots like, “You’re not going to do terribly today like usual, are you?” Which really helps the model take good photos. Or during the photoshoot he’ll say, “You look ish. Is that fashionable? Do you think that looks good?” I always thought his role should be getting the best photos from the models and giving them advice and confidence (especially during the first few weeks). Instead he acts like they should be perfect on day one, it’s not his job to help them out, and it’s apparently his job to criticise them and make them upset during the shoot and sometimes contradict what the photographer is asking for.
The girls running around JAPAN and yelling “ENGLISH, PLEASE PEOPLE!” is one of the most American things I’ve seen in a while 💀 That was incredibly cringey to watch, especially since Japanese people are usually quiet and respectful so screaming in public like that was probably very annoying to them 😭
so what was she supposed to do? They only had a certain amount of time and they were not allowed to prepare and in any way since they were not told they were going to Japan.. There was no time to go around politely quietly asking.. especially the girl who was seeing impaired.
I can relate so strongly to this video. I was in Japan in the mid 90s. My employer gave me a crudely drawn map of the school I was supposed to be teaching at, handed me the keys to his car, and sent me off to drive on the "wrong" side of the street without even a basic education of Japanese traffic signs. I drove around lost and terrified all day until I finally crashed his car and called the school. 😂
What has happened? I see the same. Just a 1 min video of Luxeria’s faces for the title image. Everyone else is commenting on the video like it was a full normal video. Are we going the same brand of insane?
@@Lefty_loosy87 Same! I was watcing the video, had like 10 min left and went to bed. Now when I wanted to continue it changed to this 1 min video! So there was the actual video before but something happend during the night.
As someone who wears lolita fashion and is plus size, I would like to profess my love for Metamorphose. They now make plus size dresses and are still thriving.
Moi-même Moitié seems plus size friendly(er), too (but it’s so expensive…) Lolita fashion is so pretty, I always like to see it, but apart from a few not so successful attempts to wear it as a teenager, I prefer to look at people wearing this style well instead of me ❤️
As someone who is too tall for most AP (I'm literally only 5 foot 9), metas dresses are so good i can even wear their ops. Incredible. 10/10. They literally cover my knees. I literally never shut up about it
@theshadowfax239 Extremely true. I'm a fan of the style as you don't get a lot of frills and flounces in fashion as you get older in Western culture. However, the reason why the style exists at all is definitely not ok or acceptable.
With how little money they gave them it was absolutely impossible to create a true Lolita look. The dresses and shoes are very expensive. They probably had enough for accessories but not for a full Lolita outfit. Plus they had no idea what they were to go for was supposed to look like.
Ann is such a bizarre case. She is truly stunning and had such an immense talent at modelling but Antm created this false narrative that she had no talent. Even some of her "bad" photos were good. Its honestly so draining to be isolated in this bizarre environment and then to go from top to bottom every week must have been dreadful
I was wondering what people were talking about and youtube glitches on me and now lux is giving me a behind the scenes look into how she makes thumbnails 🤣
I remember watching this when it aired and I was obsessed with Japanese street style at the time! There were some coffee table books called "Fruits" that were just full of photos capturing people on the streets of Japan and I'd go and sit in Waterstones for hours every Saturday and just analyse every single one 😂. Also, not sure if anyone has mentioned it in comments on previous videos but apparently at one point during filming this cycle the girls were all made to get colonics 👀 but the footage was never aired. It's a SCANDAL girls!! 🤣
Did anyone else notice what an absolute JOKE panel was? All week they've been learning about Japanese street fashion and have had several challenges involving putting together outfits inspired by street fashion. Panel gives them the exact same challenge and all of them put into practice what they were taught and by the end of it every single one of those girls had all of that stuff stripped away until you'd think they were just about to go out shopping back home in America. What was the point? They followed the brief as per what they were taught. It was so obvious it was just another exercise to show them up and make them look foolish. Also I hope Eva was reimbursed for those shorts, I can't believe they just cut her clothes like that! The NERVE! And you know if Eva had said anything she'd be told off for having an "attitude".
At best it was Fruits-inspired, which wasn’t even a defined style so much as a broad aesthetic. But they barely touched on lolita aesthetic, and judged on a completely different style than their stated theme, then didn’t give them nearly enough money to make a proper lolita coord anyway! I never was a lolita (I was more into j-goth/punk) but I was still very heavily involved with the online community back when it was all on livejournal lol. But, I have a very long history with Japanese culture and fashion and this season is absolutely painful to watch for so many reasons but this episode takes the cake. Just awful.
I don't think they really explained it. Like several of the exams given I don't think were even very Lolita. And they were told to observe street fashion while looking for these shops, but they were so busy trying to find them within the time limit, while being in a place that they have never been to before and don't even speak the local language.
As an addendum for the other viewers, early 2000's lolita fashion played a lot more fast and loose with the concept as opposed to today's standards (see the model at 8:20). For example, there was a lot of overlap with street fashion and visual kei. Now, the girls definitely still missed the mark, but it they aren't as far off as it looks when you google modern lolita for comparison.
I wore Lolita fashion in college and was also into the livejournal community. At a convention, I was told that Lolita fashion had an age limit. Do you think they chose Eva because she was younger? That was always my assumption because of how the designers acted when they asked the girls’ ages.
Me too! I started watching it this morning, turned it off for a few hours to do errands, then tried to finish it and it’s only a minute. I wonder what happened 😅
ok i think you accidentally switched the entire video to you thumbnailing for a minute straight but tbh i'm not mad like this is a full on slay YOU BETTER WORK 👏
I was looking at the comments all talking normally like ??? is this a bit? What am I missing here? 😅Hopefully it gets sorted soon, I'm excited to see the scandal
I was in the middle of watching it, the actual video, paused to do some stuff for a while and then came back and the page refreshed to this lol. Hopefully the original is back up soon.
Culturally Japanese people are very strict on time and respect for peoples time so rejecting Yaya after 2 mins isn’t surprising. Also… Asian sizes are TINY.
Just in last few years Japan has started catering to “plus” size persons. Street Fashion still runs strong in Japan, especially in Harajuku and Shibuya. I use to dress in Gothic Lolita. Lolita is a very specific style. The REQUIREMENTS are: knee high socks with ruffles, bloomers, petticoat, blouse/jumper skirt or dress, and a hair accessory (usually a bonnet or headbow)
The second I heard "Metamorphose" I screamed. I have a few pieces from them and they have been one of the very few lolita fashion brands I have been able to wear because of my size - and everything they make are such pretty pieces.
They really missed all the fun and expression in Japanese street fashion with such a small budget and all their time mostly just navigating how to get to the stores.
The theming was so confusing to me as well! Nothing was giving Lolita in the slightest, what on earth is "Japanime" -- they were definitely drawing some ganguro gyaru inspiration esp w the blonde girl but it wasn't right at all, it feels like they were trying to go for like a harajuku decora kei thing but missed the actual "decora" mark of it 😭😭
The Japanese street fashion expert they brought in was all about the accessories, and then when the girls tried to follow that advice in judging they were immediately told to take it all off? Make it make sense 😂
The scene where Amanda says (to Tyra and her mother) how much her family needs money and Tyra is clearly thinking, “Yeah, I’m still not going to pay you models anything for appearing on my show *maniacal laughter” The models weren’t paid per day / episode or for repeats. They only got paid £30 per day for food allowance, according to many previous ANTM consultants. So the show made millions, had enough money to pay all the cameramen and crew, rent for a massive house, trips abroad, etc. but the girls were “contestants” so they were legally allowed to not pay them. Most of the girls are young but some still have rent, bills and have responsibilities back home so money is important. Amanda has a baby son. They could at least have paid minimum wage for their 16 hour (at least) days. That’d hardly bankrupt the show.
Ohmygod I felt SO BAD for the girl who was legally blind and trying to navigate solely based off sight. I'm legally blind as well and, lemme tell you, it makes crossing busy streets extremely difficult because there's little to no depth perception when your vision gets this bad. That plus being in a foreign country which you don't know the national language to sounds so nerve-wracking.
Can anyone else only see a 1 min video on Lux maybe doing a thumbnail pic? Or have I missed something? LOVE these episodes and I’m dying to watch the full video! 🌟
average height for women in Japan - 159.5 cm. Anne's height - 180 cm. Size is more than weight. Not all japanese women are extra skinny but the chances of finding Japanese women that are that tall are slim to none. the comment wasn't about her weight, but about her height.
"Let me see happy, let me see sad, let me see sexy" -- without giving Anne time to react or respond and THEN clarifying he was expecting her to give him those faces -- "you haven't changed at all!" GOUT!
Shibuya and Harajuku have changed a lot since then. The area around Shibuya Crossing had a lot of reconstruction and remodeling over the past 5 years to appeal to a more wealthy and older clientele. Harajuku has become quite tourist trap-y - you really need to dive into the small alleyways if you want a more authentic experience. Shimokitazawa is now the trendy place in Tokyo, but I feel it will be oversaturated with mainstream and gentrification within the next few years. But it’s still a fun place. I hope you have the chance to visit Tokyo some time. There is a muscle guy bar by the way, called Macho Macho Shibuya 😄
@TheIndigoSystem there's a street in Sangenjaya (in the sankakuchi - triangle land where there are lots of bars) which is practically identical to Yongenjaya in the game, it's a little surreal. Shibuya feels slightly different but I guess it's a bigger place, and everything seems to change all of the time because it's under a massive construction project (as the original commenter said)
@@justicedinosaur7302 Definitely, if you are looking for stylish second hand shops and grammable foods ShimoKita is definitely the place to go. I don’t know where the alt fashion scene migrated to, but I see more and more V-Kei kids in the streets again.
Nigel was always handled by the show as if he was this very important person that was indeed not fully part of the crew but when he came as a photographer to shoot the girls it was ✨such an honor ✨ for them to shoot with him. I always thought he was so wise and sweet and I agreed with everything he said. Looking back I'm sad that as a tween it's so easy to be manipulated by reality tv 😭Maybe back then even more so because we didn't know as much about it as we do now.
Later on in the seasons though, Nigel definitely becomes the only sane judge amongst all of them and he also spoke about how it’s not only the models that were heavily edited but the judges too. Specifically meaning the Anna incident of s2 and Caridee incident of s7, in both cases Nigel was asked to react in a certain way and/or edited to make it look like he reacts in a certain way lol
I remember Tyra making a comment about how poorly she was treated as a modle, in one of the later seasons. And looking back at this series now it feels like Tyra is forcing her bad experiences onto every contestand
Japan is so obsessed with time, if you’re not ten minutes early you’ll be considered late. As someone who usually arrives right on time, this was such a pain in the bum trying to meet this expectation😅
I have just watched a minute of thumbnail posing in a tired and confused state about 6 times 😂 the comments were confusing me, ive never felt like im using youtube wrong before lmao. But apparently im not the only one! Hope youve not lost the video @Luxeria !
Nigel used to be a model back in the day and I was always surprised whenever he would berate the models on the show and tell them to suck it up and deal with it because "that's how it's done in the REAL WORLD" whenever it really isn't that way at all. He knew better but let production control him enough to cause problems on the show. He even said afterwards that they didn't always choose the best pictures for the girls because whenever he would take the photos, he'd mark his best shots but they wouldn't be the ones used in judging. I shouldn't be surprised, though, because it's all very nefarious on that show.
@@LuxeriaThere was a person who interviewed contestants and judges at the height of the panini and I'm pretty sure they interviewed Nigel but at some point, Nigel said that and it solidified what Lisa D'Amato has been saying all these years. He said that he went to Tyra and was upset because she didn't choose the pictures he'd marked and she didn't answer him or something like that. So many scandals for one show!
This always reminded me of when high school teachers would act like they're preparing you for university/college by being super strict every time you didn't do an assignment or skipped class, meanwhile for literally everyone except med students it wasn't uncommon to skip months of lectures and still pass with a perfect score, even before online education was a thing. I feel like Janice doesn't want things to be better than when she was young because that would mean having to face the fact the glamorized exploitation and literal abuse she went through as a young model was something she actually was supposed to stand against rather than excuse. This woman is horrible on so many levels.
I’m so glad biscuit is feeling better!! And I can’t wait to find out what unhinged scandal is about to happen in this episode! I used to watch this series all the time but it’s been so long that it’s like a new episode for me
Very scandalous gouty episode. I remembered it quite well but it's still fun to watch again, very nostalgic. Now 20 years later (eek) it's fun to see the fashion styles from back then too.
Mr. Jay telling Anne that she was lucky to still be in that competition was ridiculous. That definitely deflated her confidence and morale, and in all honesty, probably sabotaged that photo shoot for her just from that petty comment alone. He honestly should’ve kept that intrusive thought to himself instead thinking it out loud 🙄😒 and I also have to say, they broke that girl’s confidence down so much, this was so heartbreaking to watch 😔
53:00 she hasn't changed at all because she's ABOUT TO CRY, genius. Also, the shoot is supposed to emulate the famous 'speed lines' in anime backgrounds, I think. Also also, Amanda is, or was, gorgeous. Not just in a model way, but in an everyday way. I love her smile and mannerisms, and her personality seems great as well. When she's not reminding everyone she's lEgAlLy BlInD once an episode, at least 🤣
Darn it, I've binged all 3 ANTM cycles' reactions videos in the span of like ~4 or 5 days and now I'm stuck waiting for each episode with everyone else! 😭 I wish I had come in after like 10-15 cycles were already done lmao! That said... Awesome job as always, Lux! ♥️
I find it interesting that Tyra and her mother gave meaningful, emotional advice to everyone else, but when it got to Ann they just kinda shrugged and said "Yeah it's just like that. Suck it up."
Yes! The lack of plus sized clothes is one major reason why Tocarra was eliminated. They purposefully dragged her down to have a reason to eliminate her but it was really b/c they were going to Japan and wouldn't be able to pull clothes for her. Re: the challenge, getting around in Tokyo can be difficult sometimes even with GPS so that was a pretty hard challenge for them especially on top of having to create looks in a style they're not familiar with. Yaya wouldn't have been late if she didn't get lost, so that's sad. But she has won many challenges sooo I don't feel that bad for her lol. Oh man, I remember this shoot! Wtf is "Japanime"? It's just anime Miss Jay. The theme was all over the place and not in a good way. It's like they tried to mash together decora, harajuku, ganguro, and lolita but completely missed the mark. Oh, a little scandal to share, I saw Nigel in person a few weeks ago in an airport lounge!
I don't like how the girls approached street fashion. Instead of trying to understand and appreciate the culture that would inspire that type of aesthetic, they just went for "I don't get it, it's ugly but they're too dumb to realize it" kinda point of view. Especially Eva who won the challenge ment to inspire a designer and said she looked stupid. It feels very disrespectful to me
I agree but also kinda doubt they were given any background info or context by anyone on set. I definitely would have asked and been interested though, personally. But I guess they were all babies
Agree Tokyo street style is incredible I think maybe they should have sent them on the street to see everything people are wearing instead of just the few looks the designer showed them
The way Tyra did the 🤙 when she said phone call to Ann just moments before her elimination has ALWAYS left such a bitter taste in my mouth. Talk about being condescending to someone you've repeatedly beaten down mentally. Also, Ann... is such an enigma to me because whilst she was inconsistent photographically, she was a stunner on the runway and she definitely could pull off what designers gave her to wear. Another thing is whilst she was the weakest link in the final 4... I couldn't see anyone else eliminated before her taking her spot. We can make a case for Toccara but Japan would have been 100x more challenging for her due to her being plus size.
Well, Nicole was eliminated for no reason, in terms of skill/talent, I could see her totally being in Ann’s place. But for storyline purposes, you’re absolutely right.
Imo Nicole definitely deserved top 4 if not top 3 (over Amanda), her photos were underrated and so was she as a whole. But I agree, if we consider storyline, Ann making top 4 somehow makes sense even though she was quite frankly a mess in the competition track record wise. But there was absolutely no way she was gonna make top 3 over the others and she knew that for sure and the judges also putting her down made it even worse for her lol Oh well. Fun fact but Ann and Toccara were thriving in the modeling industry after the show. Eva, Yaya, Ann and Toccara are the post show stars of this season
I was just there too and I loved how 95% of people dressed very utilitarian. Uniqlo is ubiquitous there and I think helps to contribute to that. I don’t like shopping for clothes while on vacation so I didn’t pick up anything, but we popped into a Uniqlo to take advantage of a store where you could make your own T shirt. I wanted to take the whole store home with me because all the clothes looked so nice. It made me wish there was one close to me in the US, but they are on the coasts and I live in Texas. There was supposed to be one in Houston in early 2020, but covid ruined it.
I just love how Tyra tells the girls to take breaks so they can pose properly and suddenly Yaya is giving “attitude” for asking the photographer to pause. I think Amanda was the closest in the challenge but I think they didn’t choose her because of her age. Traditional Lolita culture was cut off around 21-23. I wore EGL style in college but that was who this was aired so it could have changed. Anyway, kisses for Biscuit! 🖤🖤🖤
Child the way even back in the early 2000’s $200USD would’ve BARELY covered the nails and hair pieces for Lolita fashion let alone get you a FULL high quality outfit even if you were being cost effective. I feel like with the freedom and variation Gyaru would’ve offered the girls more variety for the challenge as well as diversity.
I have no idea how, but I clicked on the video and all I see is a 1 minute clip of you posing for the thumbnail came telling biscuit “bed” lol idk why this popped up but when I put it up on tv it shows the actual full video 🤣 wow glitchhh lol
So confused. In my subscriptions, this is showing as the hour and something long video, but once I’ve clicked it’s one minute and six seconds of luxeria getting the thumbnail picture 😩
Same! Was watching it, paused it, came back to watch the rest, and it's nowhere to be found 😧. Did give me a good giggle though. Love your stuff Lux, can't wait to watch the rest when it's back up. 😄👍
Ann really meant it when she said it was like marriage. She saw Eva as her partner, and that built up a resentment in her after she would show how she considered the relationship.
Navigating Tokyo streets is very confusing. The buildings on a city block are numbered based on when they were built, not sequentially. Navigating the city pre-Google maps was a total headache. The girls have my sympathies.
I started watching the video and had to turn it off for a few hours to do errands. Now I went back to watch it and it’s only a minute long..is anyone else experiencing this or knows why this happened???
I just came back from Japan…the street style has changed a bit…it’s like alternative glam now…but there are still those very stylish subcultures…that make Japan crazy amazing
i love hearing your point of view on these old videos, the way the times have changed. the 2023 glasses are very important sometimes. lot of growth to go , but at least we have socially done some work
I'm so confused....did Susan take your original video down?? Because all I can see is a minute long video with you doing your thumbnail and other comments are talking about the episode....I was so looking forward to watching your commentary on this one!!
Hi Lux!! So excited to tell you that I graduated with a Masters in Forensic Psychology last week - couldn’t have gotten through it without your videos😂🖤
i love that although the full video has returned we still get the thumbnail faces at the end for any fans who liked the og glitched video lmao. cheeky bonus content lol ANYWAY this episode was so goutful i’m a huge fan of j-fashion and it’s subcultures so tbh i think the photos and styles they ended up going with are so inaccurate??? why make them go to lolita style themed stores to buy clothes to make a street style outfit? (also i WISH they had done something ganguro inspired but then they’d probably mess it up)
The judges complained that shes not "passionate" enough because she wasnt freaking out and giving them the drama they claim they hate. They got all excited when she started getting upset. Ew
When so many of the contestants perform so badly at a photo shoot, I feel like it is more of a problem with the concept and how it was explained to them rather than a true representation of the contestants abilities. This photo shoot always rubbed me the wrong way for that reason.
I was watching the video and came back to finish it later and now it's just a minute of Lux taking the thumbnail. I'm confused 😅. Hope I can watch it later.
I think this show added to my anxiety around being late. If I’m not 10 min early I think the world is ending and I’m the worst person for wasting time…. 💯 the vibe of these challenges
Was that last minute you trying to get a good thumbnail pic? Gotta grab those peeps attention. Biscuit was like "Imma just be in it too bish" love it. Great video as always. X

Harajuku, etc have similar shops available as then, even more niche as well have cropped up, but in terms of people wearing the classic lolita or other gyaru street fashion has died pretty hard. There are a few who wear that as a getup, but its rare and they stand out pretty strongly. When I went shopping in Japan for myself, I felt like She Hulk constantly. My shoulders were too broad, my feet too big. They have this section in shoe stores called "Queen Sized" and its their largest female size they generally carry but its still like a size 7. A vast majority of their stores carry "standard sized" clothes, which is a "one size fits all," but it clearly is very NOT foreigner friendly unless youre extremely teeny tiny. A friend of mine there literally to my face told me I should start shopping at transgender shops even though I am not, simply because it would be "male sizes but female aesthetic." If I did manage to buy anything for myself, I would buy the ugliest patterns and bizarre shaped clothes, as well as horrid engrish phrases on them. Everyone there would compliment me on how well acclimated I was to their fashion and how good I looked. When I moved back to the States, I would laugh a bit at it and take pride in some of the bizarre items that I still have. Fun Fact: leggings are NOT pants there. It is expected to wear shorts or another layer over leggings at all times there.
Eva seems like a person who's had to fight for everything, and now fighting is the only thing she knows how to do. I believe her when she says that she doesn't want to hurt anyone but knows that she hurts people and that winning is more important to her than not hurting people.

@@kissit012 then why was Eva crying and saying she prayed for Ann? That seems more than friendly to me.
Do you think that looks good?”
I always thought his role should be getting the best photos from the models and giving them advice and confidence (especially during the first few weeks). Instead he acts like they should be perfect on day one, it’s not his job to help them out, and it’s apparently his job to criticise them and make them upset during the shoot and sometimes contradict what the photographer is asking for.
The girls running around JAPAN and yelling “ENGLISH, PLEASE PEOPLE!” is one of the most American things I’ve seen in a while 💀
That was incredibly cringey to watch, especially since Japanese people are usually quiet and respectful so screaming in public like that was probably very annoying to them 😭
It was a little cringe 😭
so what was she supposed to do? They only had a certain amount of time and they were not allowed to prepare and in any way since they were not told they were going to Japan.. There was no time to go around politely quietly asking.. especially the girl who was seeing impaired.
Tyra being excited and loving saying "it's my momma!" Was the most true, real emotional unplanned moment she ever said or had on this whole show.
I noticed that as well 😊
Lol “ I play snake and I live forever” is the perfect way to describe a Nokia
It’s true! Gone are the days!!
A 1 min video of Luxeria making reaction faces is something I didnt know I needed. Id just keep it like this. Its gold
What has happened? I see the same. Just a 1 min video of Luxeria’s faces for the title image.
Everyone else is commenting on the video like it was a full normal video. Are we going the same brand of insane?
Yeah there's nothing here
Same!
Glad it's not just me. Haha!
@@Lefty_loosy87 Same! I was watcing the video, had like 10 min left and went to bed. Now when I wanted to continue it changed to this 1 min video!
So there was the actual video before but something happend during the night.
Glad that the... inappropriateness of running around Japan yelling "DO YOU SPEAK ENGLISH?!" was acknowledged 😂
As someone who wears lolita fashion and is plus size, I would like to profess my love for Metamorphose. They now make plus size dresses and are still thriving.
Moi-même Moitié seems plus size friendly(er), too (but it’s so expensive…) Lolita fashion is so pretty, I always like to see it, but apart from a few not so successful attempts to wear it as a teenager, I prefer to look at people wearing this style well instead of me ❤️
I'll have to check them out 😊
As someone who is too tall for most AP (I'm literally only 5 foot 9), metas dresses are so good i can even wear their ops. Incredible. 10/10. They literally cover my knees. I literally never shut up about it
It's really disturbing that there is a whole fashion style based around sexualizing a child.
Tyra is evil
I was wondering what people were talking about and youtube glitches on me and now lux is giving me a behind the scenes look into how she makes thumbnails 🤣
I'm bamboozled by this atm 😂
I remember watching this when it aired and I was obsessed with Japanese street style at the time! There were some coffee table books called "Fruits" that were just full of photos capturing people on the streets of Japan and I'd go and sit in Waterstones for hours every Saturday and just analyse every single one 😂.
Also, not sure if anyone has mentioned it in comments on previous videos but apparently at one point during filming this cycle the girls were all made to get colonics 👀 but the footage was never aired. It's a SCANDAL girls!! 🤣
I have that book!! But I hadn’t heard about the colonics!
colon cleansing?!?! wtf!!!
I loved those books and I own one, I was always saving Japanese street style pictures.
wait, really? wtf
@@MiotaLee Apparently so! A few of the season 3 girls mentioned it in Oliver Twixt interviews 🤯
As a lolita fashion enthusiast, I can say with 100% certainty that none of the girls' outfits were lolita.
Ummmmm…..am I missing something?!? lol I just have 1:06 of Luxeria making funny faces at the camera and telling Biscuit to get into his bed! 😂
Me too? What is happening? Is the full video just for donating people?
Thank god me too! I can only see a 1 min or so video
Same! Thought I was going crazy 😅
Me too! I started watching it this morning, turned it off for a few hours to do errands, then tried to finish it and it’s only a minute. I wonder what happened 😅
ok i think you accidentally switched the entire video to you thumbnailing for a minute straight but tbh i'm not mad like this is a full on slay YOU BETTER WORK 👏
Absolutely!! But I was really excited to watch the regular video atst 😅
ok I was wondering why it said it was only 1 minute long @luxeria HELP!!?? I want to watch it
I was looking at the comments all talking normally like ??? is this a bit? What am I missing here? 😅Hopefully it gets sorted soon, I'm excited to see the scandal
She needed Biscuit out of her shot and sent him to bed lol
I was in the middle of watching it, the actual video, paused to do some stuff for a while and then came back and the page refreshed to this lol. Hopefully the original is back up soon.
So glad Mr. Biscuit is feeling better! Always love hearing his commentary about “America’s Next Top Scandal” 😂🥰.
He has many thoughts about it! 😂🖤
Nothing was giving Lolita in the slightest, what on earth is "Japanime" -- they were definitely drawing some ganguro gyaru inspiration esp w the blonde girl but it wasn't right at all, it feels like they were trying to go for like a harajuku decora kei thing but missed the actual "decora" mark of it 😭😭
"Japanime" cracked me up cuz it's the most American nonsense that ever America'd 😂😂😂
The Japanese street fashion expert they brought in was all about the accessories, and then when the girls tried to follow that advice in judging they were immediately told to take it all off? Make it make sense 😂
The scene where Amanda says (to Tyra and her mother) how much her family needs money and Tyra is clearly thinking, “Yeah, I’m still not going to pay you models anything for appearing on my show *maniacal laughter”
The models weren’t paid per day / episode or for repeats.
Contestants need better rights. Everyone gets paid except the people everyone watches for.
It’s beautiful to watch Amanda truly enjoy and appreciate every moment she is spending in Japan.
As much as I loved watching Lux taking the thumbnail for one minute I'm glad I can now finish watching the video. 😅❤
😂😂😂😂😂
Luxeria PLEASE I need to see this mysterious 1min video 😍🤣
Did something get claimed? Tried to watch the video now and it's only 1:05 minutes long? I need to catch up on the scandal, girl 😭
If Jay can’t come up with a different way to coach these girls besides throwing movie titles at them, he’s honestly not a very good teacher imo
I’m having the same issue. The video was longer before but something got corrupted I think.
I watched all but 10 mins earlier, came back and it was gone..? It was 1 hr 8 mins
omg saaame 😭
i watched 20mins or sth... stopped, came back, and now this 😅 has yt played some nasty tricks on Lux and us?
average height for women in Japan - 159.5 cm. Anne's height - 180 cm. Size is more than weight. Not all japanese women are extra skinny but the chances of finding Japanese women that are that tall are slim to none. the comment wasn't about her weight, but about her height.
I can’t wait to use the iconic phrase “there’s always a silver lining to the end of the tunnel biscuit” 🥰
😂😂😂 it’s true!
What did i miss..? This is 1 minute 6 seconds of Luxeria being a confused and gorgeous woman on the game, which is amazing, but ... top scandal girls?
There is a muscle guy bar by the way, called Macho Macho Shibuya 😄
yes! Shimokita is famous for its secondhand clothing shops
My knowledge of Shibuya is from Persona 5, so I researched the places from the game. I’d love to visit so much
@TheIndigoSystem there's a street in Sangenjaya (in the sankakuchi - triangle land where there are lots of bars) which is practically identical to Yongenjaya in the game, it's a little surreal.
Shibuya feels slightly different but I guess it's a bigger place, and everything seems to change all of the time because it's under a massive construction project (as the original commenter said)
@@TheIndigoSystem Persona 5 is pretty accurate 😊 The Yakuza series as well
@@justicedinosaur7302 Definitely, if you are looking for stylish second hand shops and grammable foods ShimoKita is definitely the place to go.
I did not know this but it makes sense!!
Oh they'd love me then, I always show up 30 minutes to an hour early. I'm so paranoid about being late, it was a habit drilled into me by my mom.
Oh they'd love me then, I always show up 30 minutes to an hour early. I'm so paranoid about being late, it was a habit drilled into me by my mom.
I have just watched a minute of thumbnail posing in a tired and confused state about 6 times 😂 the comments were confusing me, ive never felt like im using youtube wrong before lmao. But apparently im not the only one! Hope youve not lost the video @Luxeria !
I am getting the same thing, i am so confused 😮
Nigel used to be a model back in the day and I was always surprised whenever he would berate the models on the show and tell them to suck it up and deal with it because "that's how it's done in the REAL WORLD" whenever it really isn't that way at all. He knew better but let production control him enough to cause problems on the show. He even said afterwards that they didn't always choose the best pictures for the girls because whenever he would take the photos, he'd mark his best shots but they wouldn't be the ones used in judging. I shouldn't be surprised, though, because it's all very nefarious on that show.
I knew it!!!! A scandal!
I used to watch this series all the time but it’s been so long that it’s like a new episode for me
I am also very glad! Aren’t little beasties funny sometimes 😂
Very scandalous gouty episode. I remembered it quite well but it's still fun to watch again, very nostalgic. Now 20 years later (eek) it's fun to see the fashion styles from back then too.
Is anyone else trying to watch 6+ hours after posting and only seeing the clip of Lux filming for a screen grab? I’m missing the whole video! 🥺
Yes! 😢
Every season we get to the Semi Final and Lux forgets that it’s the Semi Final 😂
Tyra - ‘next week’s final’
Lux - *surprised Pikachu face*
Agree Tokyo street style is incredible I think maybe they should have sent them on the street to see everything people are wearing instead of just the few looks the designer showed them
Did I break the internet? All I’ve got is one min of Lux making thumbnails 😂
Yvg
Well, Nicole was eliminated for no reason, in terms of skill/talent, I could see her totally being in Ann’s place. But for storyline purposes, you’re absolutely right.
Imo Nicole definitely deserved top 4 if not top 3 (over Amanda), her photos were underrated and so was she as a whole. But I agree, if we consider storyline, Ann making top 4 somehow makes sense even though she was quite frankly a mess in the competition track record wise. But there was absolutely no way she was gonna make top 3 over the others and she knew that for sure and the judges also putting her down made it even worse for her lol
Oh well. Fun fact but Ann and Toccara were thriving in the modeling industry after the show. Eva, Yaya, Ann and Toccara are the post show stars of this season
I'm vacationing in Japan right now. The fashion style of the day has definitely drifted away from "street fashion" to monochromatic oversized clothes.
I think it's always been like that, the crazy street styles were a rebellion against all the conformity
I noticed that, too-but I was kinda digging it because I don’t really see that kind of fashion where I’m from. Took tons of inspo pics!
They got away with it being on TV in early 2000.
That’s entirely true
Hahaha this suddenly becoming a 1min pose session video is amazing
Child the way even back in the early 2000’s $200USD would’ve BARELY covered the nails and hair pieces for Lolita fashion let alone get you a FULL high quality outfit even if you were being cost effective. I feel like with the freedom and variation Gyaru would’ve offered the girls more variety for the challenge as well as diversity.
I have no idea how, but I clicked on the video and all I see is a 1 minute clip of you posing for the thumbnail came telling biscuit “bed” lol idk why this popped up but when I put it up on tv it shows the actual full video 🤣 wow glitchhh lol
got this too!
Same hahaha then all the comments are about the vid and I HAVE FOMO
Same! Both on my phone and tv…I’m so confused!
Norelle really would have rocked that photoshoot
The T-Mobile sounds is always "The Devil Wears Prada" for me.
It got absorbed into EE in the UK I think...?
“Andrea, will you get me…”
Seeing you get big sponsors makes me so happy 😭❤️
Thankyou lovely, I only work with companies I like 😂 it’s nice to get the extra support 🖤
Why am I only seeing 1 minute of Lux making a thumbnail? 😅 is my RUclips glitching?
I just came back from Japan…the street style has changed a bit…it’s like alternative glam now…but there are still those very stylish subcultures…that make Japan crazy amazing
i love hearing your point of view on these old videos, the way the times have changed.
the 2023 glasses are very important sometimes. lot of growth to go , but at least we have socially done some work

I'm so confused....did Susan take your original video down?? Because all I can see is a minute long video with you doing your thumbnail and other comments are talking about the episode....I was so looking forward to watching your commentary on this one!!
It's Thanksgiving week in America and I am so thankful for Luxeria putting in work and putting out (oh my) the best content. It's a scandal girls!

Is there a whole episode bc I’m only seeing a one minute reaction clip?
Wait what happened to the video? I hadn’t finished and when I went to go watch it, it’s just a minute of you posing for a thumbnail 😭😭😭
i love that although the full video has returned we still get the thumbnail faces at the end for any fans who liked the og glitched video lmao. cheeky bonus content lol ANYWAY this episode was so goutful i’m a huge fan of j-fashion and it’s subcultures so tbh i think the photos and styles they ended up going with are so inaccurate??? why make them go to lolita style themed stores to buy clothes to make a street style outfit? (also i WISH they had done something ganguro inspired but then they’d probably mess it up)
The judges complained that shes not "passionate" enough because she wasnt freaking out and giving them the drama they claim they hate. They got all excited when she started getting upset. Ew
When so many of the contestants perform so badly at a photo shoot, I feel like it is more of a problem with the concept and how it was explained to them rather than a true representation of the contestants abilities. This photo shoot always rubbed me the wrong way for that reason.
You posing for a thumbnail is honestly all that needs to be said, my night is made 😂
Watch her start a trend
Luxeria help! The video is only a minute long and I’m so eager to see the whole thing 😢 love you lots x
YAY I think it’s fixed ❤ watching now!
RUclips glitched and it only shows luxeria doing poses for the thumb nail 😭
I was watching the video and came back to finish it later and now it's just a minute of Lux taking the thumbnail. I'm confused 😅. Hope I can watch it later.
Is anyone else just seeing a 1 minute video of her just pulling faces to get her thumbnail? What has happened haha!
@Luxeria Something weird going on with the upload, was working earlier but now it's a minute long video of I think humbnail practice
Same for me. It was a complete video when started it few hours ago and now it’s just a minute long and random stuff with bad sound.
Am I the only one not seeing the video? I just see Luxeria posing for the thumbnail for about a minute
I think this show added to my anxiety around being late. If I’m not 10 min early I think the world is ending and I’m the worst person for wasting time….
💯 the vibe of these challenges
Something about the very start, the way Biscuit is lying in Luxeria's arms, flapping about looking dead inside, it brings me giddy joy
Shoutout to Lux's editor. The cuts to the funnies always do it for me

A friend of mine there literally to my face told me I should start shopping at transgender shops even though I am not, simply because it would be "male sizes but female aesthetic."
If I did manage to buy anything for myself, I would buy the ugliest patterns and bizarre shaped clothes, as well as horrid engrish phrases on them.
