Just made this for our church play, thank you so much ☺️
That's awesome! Please send pics to our instagram! I'd love to see! :)
This is exactly what I’ve been looking for! I’ll make a base out of foam boards in order to make it removable/renter friendly, and make a box out of plywood around my electric fireplace in order to make a statement brick fireplace! Thank you for this DIY 🖤
Thank you for the positive feedback! I'm so glad and happy this was helpful!
The removable plywood idea is excellent! Personalizing rented spaces for us creatively inclined can be so limiting! I'm so happy that this helped you figure out how to go about it!
Please share pics of you results! Id love to see how it comes out! :D
OMG!!!! this is so cool! I'm doing a fun game of thrones event and this will help with my commercial! Thank you!!
You're very welcome!!! :)
JUST WOW! Your channel is great! Love the video I am doing this on my 1/2 concrete wall in my bedroom. You definitely should have way more subscribers
Thanks so much! :)
Let me know how it turns out! :)
absolutely gorgeous; the diy project is amazing also; have a nice life now yall hear now.
Thanks so much! :D
Stone has mica. That is the shimmery effect. Beautiful work!
Thanks so much! It's the little details that make a difference right? :)
Unfortunately I can't do this on my wall due to budget constraints so I am going to be putting a dark gray coat and then taping and then paint light gray over that so it's just a painted on pattern, thank you for the wonderful idea 🥰
Brilliant. I had this idea to carve foam board and mount it the wall. Your method is sooo much better
Thank you!! Glad this was helpful! 😁
I too want to try this on an exterior piece of plywood. I guess concrete or exterior spackle would have to be used. And exterior paint, of course!
Thanks for the ideas, BRILLIANT!!
❤❤❤
That's fucking sweet. I built a castle for my cats and I was stressed about painting it. But with the spackle over the cardboard, I think this will work super well and make painting it a lot less daunting. Thank you!
Follow up. Been using this technique for the last hour or so and it's really working. I just need to make the application thinner because I am using far too much spackle. But seriously, thank you so much for making this tutorial.
My other idea was to paper mache it in multiple layers and that would have taken even more time.
I'm making our bedroom into our Gryffindor Common room, and I love this idea on foam so we can remove it if we need to move again.
That sounds awesome! Yeah you can cut the foam pueces in rregular shapes to further the effect!
AND you can take them with you and install them in your next location too!
Your wall is incredible! Wow! I'm not very good with paints but this seems really doable!
Thanks again girl!!! 💖
Outstanding! Ive been looking at ways to make this affect on interior walls. This is by far the easiest and fastest with a great look. I'm going to do some testing and try it out. I'm going to try this with the premix drywall joint compound directly onto the drywall.
Thanks so much!
Glad this video was helpful! I hope you'll share pics of your results! :D
So awesome and seems fairly simple to do! Thank you, I might switch from stone to brick! I really liked the realism of your work!
Thanks! :D
This is great, thanks. I’m thinking I might pencil in the stone shapes and then paint over just the the outlines with the grout color I want to use.
Just the right amount of cool. Awesome. Thank you. Love your place.
Thanks so much!
OMG I LIVE THIS IDEA!!!❤️❤️❤️ thanks for posting😁
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it!!! :D
That is awesome we just bought a house and I think we're going to try this technique on our walls.
Congrats on your new house! Let me know how it works out for you!
@@TashasImaginarium I will
This would be the best video out there that i have found as i am after a castle stone look for a feature wall to hang my medi evil swords ect on and i will add a modern torn off smooth plaster look to areas to create a wall of history that was hidden for centuries, and of course led strip lighting hidden by the torn plaster, thank you soo much, wish me luck, time to move some heavy furniture grrr
Thanks for your comment!!! I'm so glad you found this video helpful! :)
Good luck on your medieval wall project, sounds awesome! Wpuld love to see how it turns out!
@@TashasImaginarium have sent message on Face book mate with some pics ( Dave Poulton )
@@davepoulton7530 thanks for sending the pics. Your progress on the wall looks great! :) The sword is really going to shine with the brick background! Looking forward to seeing the final result! :)
I think i'm going to try this for a live scene underwater shoot.
That would be so cool!!!
I dont know if it would hold up underwater though... 🤔
maybe if you use acrylic caulk instead of spackle and seal it really well with polyurthane after painting?
Let me know how it works out for you if you try it! :)
@@TashasImaginarium Have you ever done artwork where you applied resin over the surface ? I tried that and man I suck.
Hey, if you take a big roll of toilet paper and soak it in hot water (unrolled) for a few hours then mix it up to break up the paper then squeeze out all the water you can then add it to the spackle you might need to add just a touch of water to mix it up.
You'll get a much better final look and it won't Crack out as much
Awesome tip!!!!! Thanks for sharing! ❤❤❤
No sabia que tenia este talento para hacer props, casi no hay nadie que haga en baja

awesome technique
Thanks!
I just subscribed to your Channel because I love you look. Then I watched it and I love the wall texture that you done
Thank you do much!
So I have a concrete 1/2 wall and I'm thinking about doing the tape and filling in with a already mixed wet light concrete. Then after the concrete dries I will spray paint the stone look and then remove the tape.
Great idea trying it with concrete!
Word of caution though: make a test run on a less visible corner first. I think you might have to remove the tape while the concrete is still wet (or at least not fully dry) or else you wont be able to remove the tape at all. It's the same situation with the spackle, if it dries on yoir tape, you wont be able to peel the tape off.
Best of luck!
Pleade share your results on our facebook or instagram! I'm cutious to see how it turns out! :D

On your wall it looks as though you added darker highlights in some areas to accent the separation from one "stone" to the next. I suspect someone could also add color if they wanted that look (e.g. orange for Italian marble, or green for mold, etc.).
Yes, you can go through with a small paint brush and create more separation between the stones.
And yeah, you could get creative and add flecks of gold, silver, or other colors to make the stones look more natural if you dont mind the extra steps.
You could also make them look mossy by adding green stippling in certain areas.
This tutorial is meant to be a jumping-off point. You can get as detailed and creative as you want! :)
Could you do this on a bunch of foam boards to make it rental friendly?
Absolutely! Just drill, nail, or staple the boards to the wall (or use those velcro tapes things for hanging posters and frames if you dont want to have to plaster any holes later) and follow the steps... you can go wild without losing your deposit :)
You're so cute & pretty at the same time hehe! Nice tutorial. I'll use it for my pond
Thank you! :D
I wouldn't recommend this technique for a water feature, not sure the materials will hold up. But I'm planning on making a little waterfall tutorial soon, so that might be a better option for your pond.
Be sure to subscribe so you'll be notified when that video comes out! :)
@@TashasImaginarium yes you already got yourself a subscriber. Thanks for your msg. Looking fwd to it
@@TashasImaginarium could you please advise me on what light texture does spackle adhere too? So expanded styrofoam and how about thin wood similar to what's used in the backing of bookshelves/cupboards? 🙂
@@jbl2270 spackle will adhere to any dry non-flexible texture, it's best used for walls and ceilings and solid furniture.
If you want to create something a little more sturdy, you can use acrylic caulk instead of the spackle, but it will be more expensive.
@@TashasImaginarium thanks for the prompt reply.I already bought a tub of spackle and I have styrofoam and thin plywood on hand. Was hoping to use something fairly light which would adhere to the sides of the tank and that I can easily apply your technique too.
Thank you! This was quite helpful! Still debating the extend that I'll take this (whole basement or only columns), but helpful nonetheless, Any chance you might want to do something like this but with wood texture? I'm already thinking that maybe brickwork for the columns with "wooden beams".
I'm so glad you found this helpful!
The wood beams are a great idea! I'll keep them in mind and maybe do a video on that soon!
I did a whole mudroom.contractor wise. Tape out your lines. Use hopper to spray drywall mud over it. Take paint roller and lightly roll over it.remove your tape and leave it to dry. Then roll the whole thing with a grout color. Then I did different colors on each brick. It came out dam cool
que curada Tasha¡

Espero lo sigan compartiendo!
Saludos y abrazos! 💖
Did you put polyurethane on top of your faux stone to give it more dimension and to protect it? It looks like it’s shinier and more realistic. Thanks, nicely done!
I dry-briushed some gloss polyurethane mixed with iridescent shimmer so certain parts of it look shinier and others more matte for more realism.
Thanks!!! 💖
A++
Thanks :)
What is the exact type of foam board that you used, how do you hide your seams? Also, do you have any additional links to where you purchased the foam boards? Thank you.
Hi! I dont use the foam boards for the wall, I only used it to show the example. I apply the texture directly to the wall.
However if you're trying to make this renter friendly, and need to use foam boards because you dont want to lose yor deposit, you can get the boards from a dollar store for cheap.
Cover the entire wall with the boards first (you can attach them with screes, nails, or poster adhesive) that way the seams will be hidden by the texture when you apply it on top.
I hope that's helpful!
If you did want to make it in foam board to make it renter friendly or moveable, that is called foam core board, and can be gotten cheap at dollar stores.
If you want to use foam to put texture into like they do for rpg miniature building they usually use xps foam or foam core. Xps is extruded polystyrene, and is the kind of pink home insulation foam you can get at big box stores. It should not be confused with eps, expanded polystyrene, which is the kind with lots of little spherical blobs of foam, smashed into a shape, which is used for packing things into boxes, and also for disposable coolers
July 2023. Love this. Starting to plan out annual Halloween party for this year an I need stone palace walls for the entrance. This is perfect!! Making an Egyptian theme. Thanks from Houston
When you did the wash, how did you keep it from dripping down the walls? Did you just work really fast?
Good question!
If it's dripping down a lot then it's a little too runny and you may need to use less water... but it's also another reason why working in small sections is helpful, even if it starts dripping you can wipe it down in time.
I hope that's helpful! I'm sure you'll get the hang of it! :D
@@TashasImaginarium I hope so. I've got my base layer down but the castle is upright and your video was on a horizontal surface so I'm a bit worried to start it.
I'll do my best though and test it out a few times to find a way to not let it be too runny. I appreciate you responding! And I want you to know that I've told everyone where I found this technique. ❤️
@@rach2509 yeah the tutorial was horizontal but my wall was still very much vertical when I did it :)
ALSO! DO put a protective plastic cover down because there WILL be paint splatters as you do this and we dont want damaged floors or anything else.
Dollar store party table covers are a cheap and effective option! :D
I'm sure your wall will turn out awesome! And I'd love to see photos of your finished design! :D
@@TashasImaginarium Oh, good call on the extra drop cloths. When I finish it, I will email you a picture!
For those of us who rent, is there an easy way to get rid of this texture afterwards when we move out?
I've looked at multiple ways to create a stone wall and my 2 biggest problems are making sure it's not permanent and that I can also hang things from it.
That's not an answer. Or are you just +1'ing this question?
@@i.am.willow I was commenting to make sure that if someone gives an answer I will see it, since I was wondering the same thing.
A more renter friendly alternative is to carve the stone texture into xps foam that you can buy at Home Depot/lowes. They come in large sheets, and be easily textured with a knife, soldering iron, heat gun, aluminum foil, rocks, etc. there are lots of tutorial videos on how to do it.
I’ve forgotten the creator, but I’ve seen one where they textured some foam to look like stone, and some to look like wood beams. They mounted it to the wall with 3m strips at the edges and poster tack in the middle.
If you want to mount something to the wall like a coat rack or light you can either just cut a hole in the foam, or use a block of wood as a mounting plate.
I recomendable looking at wargaming/d&d/miniature terrain building videos for ideas. You can just scale up whatever pattern they make on a three inch tall wall to a normal 8’ wall
Funny that you mention that. After posting my original question I did start creating stone panels with 4'x8'x1" XPS foam. A tool that I've found expecially helpful is a U-Shaped heating wire for cutting out the grout lines. However, it's INCREDIBLY time consuming. Haha. Carving out just one panel took an entire weekend of almost non-stop work.
Did you do the walls with the trees as well and if so do you have a video on that technique or will you make one.
Yes I did!
I painted them freehand, and I'll be making a video on how I did them sometime soon :)
@@TashasImaginarium thank you. Everything is so nice. You’re inspiring.
@@carolynposey4875 thank you! I'm so glad you enjoy the video! ❤
I hope you'll stick around for more creative projects! :D
How would you suggest I’d do this for a production set for live stage productions
I would recommend doing this directly on the stage flat or whatever piece you're setting up.
Would this hold up on say a covered porch using exterior paints?
I wouldn't recommend this particular technique for exteriors. Spackle would absorb moisture from the air and probably fall appart. You would need to use cement or caulking instead of spackle and that's a whole other approach and price cost...
Question, I'm working on ideas on how to make the outside of a travel trailer, intended to be pulled by a vehicle to be made to look like a castle, but I'm running into engineering problems. How might I fix that?
What sort of engineering problems are you running into? Is it issues with the construction? Or with the texturing and painting?
@@TashasImaginarium I'd love to use a technique like this one, but I'm worried that the spackle will either make the trailer too heavy to pull or will come off and hit something or someone driving down the highway at 60 miles an hour. My dad suggested using chicken wire to wrap the trailer in.
Weight shouldn’t be an issue. If you used actual stone it might be. They do make plastic molded stone veneer. It’s expensive and typically looks better in smaller applications, but is an option.
You could cut thin stone shapes out of xps foam, and then glue them to the trailer. Thin foam would allow you to bend the pieces for irregular shapes and foam takes good textures. It probably also easier to remove that spackle, depending on what glue you use. If it’s intended to be permenant I’d recommend looking for a long cure cement of some sort. Kinda like rubber glue but make sure it is compatible with foam. If it’s meant for a ten faire or some other short term application hot glue might be better.
Using sparkle like the video shows is an option, but I suspect if you want it to remain long term you would need some heavy coats of varnish/glue/mod podge/resin to keep it from flaking in the sun and wind. For short term uses I suspect it would be a pain to remove.
You could probably use plaster or something like that as a permanent option, but then I would start worrying about weight again.
Overall I think the best option would be to cut thin stone shaped pieces from foam and glue them to the trailer. It will struggle to hold on in high wind conditions, like a freeway, but I think it has the best mix of weight, texture, and ease of removal. There are a lot of videos showing how to texture foam to look like stone, and a lot of rpg miniature builds show how to use cardboard and foam cuts to look like bricks and stones. You can also texture foam to look like wood, if you want to include some wooden beams into your design.
Want to do this for a church Christmas program prop made from insulating board. Any comments/suggestions?
Insulating foam will work perfectly! You can also carve cracks and nooks into the foam to make it extra textured!
Also, remember that details get lost with stage lights and audience distance, so you may want to make the lines and speckles thicker so they are more noticeable.
It will look a bit cartoony up close but from the audience it will look just right.
I hope that's helpful!
Is this really as easy as you make it look? lol I'm wanting to do this for a Harry Potter themed bedroom and I'm so nervous about covering my entire wall in spackle lol.
If you're nervous about trying this out you can always test out and practice the process on a piece of cardboard or foamboard before you go all-out on the wall :)
How do you apply the brick effect to the wall
Directly on the wall! I only use the board to show the camera. But I do the actual whole process directly on the wall with the spakle. Sorry if that wasn't clearly explained in the video!
Plz upload more videos
I will as soon as possible! Thank you so much for the encouragement!! 🙏
Do you have to apply anything to the wall before the spackle?
Special cleaner, primer or adhesive
Great question!
You don't need to apply anything to the wall beforehand, BUT
It's always best practice to do a test batch in a small area of your wall to make sure you don't have any adhesion problems with the spackle.
If the spackle on your test area isnt sticking to the wall or drying propperly, you may want to add a coat of primer before doing the spackle texture. It may be that you have a glossy wall or wallpaper, and/or you may need to apply a thicker layer of spackle to cover any wallpaper textures that peek through.
Hope that helps!!!!
✨🖤✨

It did helped thank you 😀
There isn't any wallpaper but it is a painted wood panel. I think I might do a light sanding to give spackle something to grab onto just in case
Thanks again! ❤ your channel!
@@skellatoned6230 I'd love to see your results when your finished!!!
Just remember if you sparkle the wall directly , when it comes to you wanting to change it, that's an enormous amount of sanding, its only renter friendly if you use the boards .

Do you apply it straight to the wall or do you use paper and if you do what kind of paper do you use?
