    A small suggestion: Although the bronze cylinders are lovely, they might be a bit too busy for the space - they'll detract from the other eye-catching elements which you have already installed. Take the recessed fixtures down, scuff sand and try a complimentary tone or finish; let them "disappear" into the ceiling - allow them to be functional rather than a distraction. BTW, I'm a professional lighting designer (LC). Your home is amazing - keep up the beautiful work!

      I’m a commercial interior designer and I agree with this 100%.
      I LOVE those brass cylinder down lights, however I do think they’ll be a bit much, considering what’s currently going on in the space and the size of the space .

      though trapezoid shaped ranged are commonly used, I think a sharp square or rectangle shape would look really nice. Especially if it just pops out/comes off of the wall and has the plaster design over it
      This one might be crazy too but a circular range hood 😭 like there would just be a circle shape coming out from the wall and there would be an opening underneath it for the vent. Or oval. Lol but that might be crazy but I think it would be cool to play with the shapes.
      If you want it too look like it was built with the wall, maybe like a chimney style too?

    The kitchen is the heart of almost every home so I’m thrilled to watch someone spend time getting the kitchen renovated and done. I was also recalled excited to see you choose an old, historical home. I hate it when old homes are just torn down.Older, and historical homes offer so many beautiful architectural details you just do not find in new homes. Drew ~ I love your kitchen, and especially the antique lighting. I've installed antique metal lights in a cottage I renovated, and to bring out the patina and natural colour of the aged metal I use antique wax polish. I don't know if you use such in the US, but it's a wax which is set as a block in a tin, is applied with a dry cloth, and it has a darkish stain incorporated into the wax which doesn't actually colour the metal r furniture, but does enhance the tone of the patina. It totally bring out the bloom and age of the metal while protecting it and giving it so much depth. It also makes dusting so much easier! ♡

    Hey Drew, the house is looking fab ! Just a quick tip to save you a lot of money. You can just use drywall compound instead of designer wall treatment. I thought of this years ago when I also had a mediterranean style home. There were 3 sky lights in the kitchen . The ceiling in between them had some surface cracks that I wanted to cover up . I put it on with a hand trowel and moved the the compound around to my liking. After, I painted. The ceiling looked brand new when I was finished with an amazing medeterranean vibe. If you like the sand you can always add some to the mix yourself for pennies . Have fun !

    • @MLD11
      @MLD11 Год назад +1

      Absolutely! A great bit of advice.
      The cornice cement or compound is also typically easier to sand out quickly if you want to refine your surface or ever want to remove the finish texture in the future. This is a beautifully tactile finish that gives the visual and actual texture that compliments your architecture. Drew is really honing his craft and becoming such a bespoke master. It’s inspiring to watch.

    • @destinyschild8515
      @destinyschild8515 Год назад +2

      I did that to texture a wall near a fireplace. The lightweight compound is easy to work with and sand down a bit if you want to. Adding some construction sand would be nice for a lot of texture. I SHOULD HAVE PRIMED BEFORE I PAINTED. If you bump the wall it can chip. It's easy to fix though.

    I love that wall treatment! I had the best idea… So, the neighbor’s home you can see through kitchen window with all the laundry bottles… You should offer them a mini makeover on any rooms you can see from your windows, and maybe use a stain glass treatment, or at least put up window treatments that hide their junk! Lol.

    Great color choice for the finish! But the LAMPS!!! They are absolutely beautiful - the amber glass is perfect.

    Absolutely love the walls and ceiling, you have done a fantastic job Drew it looks beautiful I’m in love with that colour. Suggestion for the lights let them disappear you don’t want to detract from your antique lights it may look overdone if you put the long lights in just try it if you don’t like it then it’s no biggy to change them out. I’m very keen to see the tiles laid once you receive them nice work.
    The house makeover was very nice the home owners were very pleased and that’s the main point so well done. Thanks for sharing. 😊

    That plaster finish in the kitchen I sooo beautiful. It brings such a soft warmth to everything and the glow of the brass and accent of the plant. If I was the swooning type I would be in dire need of smelling salts. Bravo
    Also love the spotlights you showed

    Drew your makeover of the young couples house was amazing. I think my favorite part was the master bathroom. How you removed that wibdow/door & made the counters look all in one with the center towel bar was awesome. Great job!! Now I love love love the kitchen walls in your new house. It is just amazing. So excited to watch your progress.

    I want to scream it: YES, YES, YES to this wall treatment ! And the vintage light fixtures are everything! I agree, you definitely need to do the canned spotlights on the ceiling. I’ve been watching you since your early crafty DIY home decor videos, you are so fun to watch, it’s like hanging out with a best friend. You are so talented, the spaces you create are so beautiful, interesting and inviting. Keep up the amazing content and enjoy making your new house a home! Also just followed you on instagram 🥰
