Any chance of a video how to set up the air forks please… I fail to understand how you can only set the air pressure one side and adjust the clickers on the other.. how does the right side know what the clickers setting is and how does the left know what psi is set at..
Congrats, I’ll give you a quick rundown:
-You basically want to find your spring rate first
-Start by setting your inner chamber and balance chamber
-don’t worry about the outer chamber for now
-You’re going to want a little more pressure in your balance chamber down below, then you do in your inner chamber up above
-these two chambers work against each other. The reason you want a little bit more in your balance chamber is because it will pull the forks downward a little bit, making the bike handle a little bit better - rather than having your outer chamber pushing the forks out to full extension all the time. That makes the bike, rigid, and handle poorly.
-you want the front forks to be compliant and be able to dive into turns. For example, with the stock rear spring installed in the bike, my fork settings were 178 psi in the inner chamber, and 190 psi in the balance chamber.
-Those pressures may not work for you, but you can see the conjunction the two numbers now, where the balance chamber has a higher pressure, thus allowing the fork to compress a little bit.
-The inner chamber extends the fork, when filled with air, the balance chamber drags the fork back in when filled with air. They work directly against each other.
You can try my pressures to start, and see if you can get the fork to use all of its travel in your regular riding conditions. you want to use your forks travel, super important.
If you notice that your forks do not fully compress all the way, after you’ve warmed up and hit some obstacles, pretty hard, then back down on those pressures. Do it evenly if you are using my pressures as a baseline.
Example: if the forks are not compressing all the way, and you need to reduce the pressures, make sure they are 12 psi apart, just like the baseline pressures are (178/190). So if you drop 178 down to 176, then drop the 190 down to 188. Hope that makes sense.
If you’re bottoming out really badly, increase the pressure is equally. Just the opposite.
Here’s where we can add a little more fine-tuning:
I have not mentioned the outer chamber, yet, start with it at zero psi
If you find that you like the way, your inner chamber and balance chamber are working, and they feel really good everywhere except they tend to bottom out sort of hard, you can add pressure into the outer chamber, like five psi to start, and this will help the fork not bottom out at the very very end of its travel.
Use it to fine tune. It is like adding oil and forks that have a coil springs. I wasn’t able to do this online because the forks were blown, so they would naturally be at zero all day. The outer chamber does let air out if you have blown fork seals.
After all of this, you can start playing with your clickers. You will eventually find something that works between everything, including the clickers.
Start with the air pressure, take your time, the set ups require patience. Once you find a spring rate, a.k.a. air pressure that you like, move onto your clickers, and start adjusting those one or two clicks at a time.
Keep in mind that before you do anything at all with your front forks, you first need to set your shocks sag in the rear. Easy to do. If you don’t know how, there are many amazing videos.
If you are too light or too heavy for your rear spring, fix that first, then set the SAG, then move onto your forks. Once you get all of that dialed in, you will have a very well handling machine. But never at its full potential if you do not address both ends.
Most importantly, have fun!
showa sff air fork app it works trust me
Ones compression the other is for rebound...
And the forks are the least of the worries on that bike, it's the BRFC shock that is the major issue... send it off to Race Tech or somewhere that knows what they're doing.
Ran several of these bikes from 2008 to 2016, personally I believe the 2011-2012 version was the best. Great frame with easy to tune 47mm forks. Add a oversized front brake, revalve the suspension, your choice of exhaust system and you are good to go.
You are spot on! I searched and searched for a few months when I realized I wanted to do this, for a 2012 model specifically. Really hard to find them not clapped out at their age now. Also realized it was the best idea to go with the newest and last generation of that frame in that body style. Still able to get complete exhaust systems in other parts quite readily 😍
just bought a 2007 rmz 450 this video showed me so much, thank you.
As soon as I heard I love Suzuki I knew I was in the right place, (subscribed) 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
My dad had a 2016 with the same soaring eagle graphics. It was such a cool bike, I’m sad we got rid of it a few years ago. I found extra factory connection forks in the garage the other day too, perfect timing on this video
I still Love my 2011. Hope you try some other stuff on this bike! Appreciate the video!
I had two 15 450s and I loved them.
I always loved those decals on Kenny’s RCH bike. The Jimmy John’s “Freaky Fast!” Was quite fitting.
How crazy is it you put this video out of a K-Roc replica and he wins the same day? Go Kickstart Kenny!
@@brettlaage9687 gave him good luck charm
Wasn’t that Epix?
@@mxrevival I have to say, I didn’t think he would hold on like he did. After all he has been through, he seems to run out of gas while Tomac seems to come to life towards the end usually. Sexton is good, but has too many mistakes. I was so excited, I was jumping up and down during the last two turns! Holding the kickstart lever at the end was epic for sure!
The '11-'18 RMZ450s were the best. Chassis wasn't as stiff, and the suspension was better, especially for most people before the BFRC. I had a few of these, amazing bikes.
Great job on the bike!!!
Watching this video the day after Kenny took a flag to flag win on the roughest track of the season in Indianapolis 👍🏼
Thank you! That made it a really great day indeed, all the Suzuki action!
Dude, I still rock my 08' and love it! Still runs and rides awesome💛
Same here
Sweet job Suzukis rule i own a 2021 rmz 450 keep up the great vids
Hell yeah, dude
Been waiting for this video since I started following you man! Lol my favorite bike is my 08 rmz450 so this was a great watch. Love your latest stuff about the yz500 but this one hit closer to home haha
Thanks Brady! You know where my heart is at!
Decal works does make great stuff...they did my plates, #19 on a set of blue and yellow T-5 series graphics for a '23 RMZ250! Tried the silver shimmer and it looks awesome, highly recommend that and they always throw in a few extra name and number stickers. Great business. Will be back
Thing looks mint. Love the super gold fork color.
Thanks dude! I really love that about the new Suzukis too. Definitely helps with the Kenny look too
Very nice and what a way to usher Kenny to the WIN!!!
What were the odds of that? What a great day!
@@mxrevival I didn't get to watch the races till late last night and then I watched your video. Only thing that came to mind was what a coincidence!!!
I had that gap you where talking about next to the tank but on a 2020, appreciate the tips
Really glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching Tony 🙌
Great timing with KROC win Charles.
Nothing worse than 1 or 2 year model runs from other Manufacturers...thats where Suzuki's long model/parts interchange does it for me.
Been a Suzuki owner since 1982, be it PE175's,RGV250,RM100/125s and currently a K2GSXR100, 2x PE175s and a 78 RM125.
Part of the fun in building bikes is "interchangeability of parts"......thats what Suzuki's have always been.
Great episode Charles.
Charles, she’s gorgeous! Factory Suzuki yellow rims would make her look even better like Roczen’s RMZ450. I got them on my son’s 03 RM125 from FasterUSA. They look so good on RM’s / RMZ’s 🔥
You bet! Pro Circuit system just showed up, and I do have some wheels for it. I just need to build them. Gold hubs, gold, nipples, black rims.
I have a 15 model, wouldn't get rid of it for anything, it's super sweet on the trails,
Deff a sweet bike. Graphics help make it unique and I would've done the same thing by tweaking it just a little. I haven't been on 2 wheels since I was on my 89 kx80 back in the day. Here in Maine we get alot of snow, I'd love to be ripping that yz500 out here in the snow lol. Marked the live on my calendar!!!!
I have a 2019 rmz 450 , with a few modifications and change outs I Luv it !
Same! Great bike! I’m ready for a new model though, too. Let’s go, Suzuki!
👍🏻👍🏻Charles! Hard to beat oem engineering
That’s a fact!
Hay Charles FYI Harbor Freight sells a nice nematic stapler for cheep. I have used it to do many seats. I highly recommend getting one. Keep up the awesome work most informational videos on RUclips.
I’ll have to check that out, thank you for the recommend! Have a great day Todd 💪
Hell yea I loved those graphics from back in the day. Those Suzuki looked really sicc
Gets me pumped!
The flow yellow Straight Rythm edition from Roczen was the best looking suzuki
I need to look into that, I don’t remember it
Bad ass bro! Haha next vid bring the 89 back out !
Hi Mike, I did start opening up all the boxes and bubble wrapped items that have been untouched since we moved here… have some great coated parts back from fast blast… just need to figure out how that bike is going to fit into company progress and building a good life.
Nice video. Low and behold, what did I witness sitting over there in the corner 5:54? I got one of those and love it. The incredibly rare but beautiful RMX 450. Nice. Do you still ride it? Mods? Thx.
Hey man when are we gonna get a riding video? Wanna see that beauty in action
This will be very helpful I'm just getting ready to do a seat...
Stoked to be able to help, Greg! Thanks for watching 💪
Yeah when I was looking for a 450, I was deciding whether I should get that body style or an +18, I saw you at at little gem last Saturday btw
Right on, should’ve said hi. Will be out there again today. I’ll be the slow one.
I did the 18+ spring fork swap on my 2016. Feels really good, my air forks always felt like they got “stuck” in between the stroke. Kinda hard to explain but the spring forks feel nice.
Where can one snag that front number plate as well? It’s cherry!
Loving that RCH graphics kit! Going down through mx history it’s pretty to tough to find a more iconic badass team than Ricky Carmichael, Carey Hart and K-ROC. Like McGrath in ‘96 they had it going on. 🤘🏻😎🍻
Dude, so true! There’s no way that Kenny didn’t catch feelings when he got onto his new ride, flashbacks of those days.
The great thing about suzuki is the parts consistency among models. Way better at that than the other manufacturers.
‼️
Really like that seat cover
I am so stoked on it, thank you
I always loved the look of soaring eagle plastics
Do you have any download able pics of this bike
I took some great photos of it yesterday, and have been wanting to put a “screen saver” area in on the website for people to download. Previous builds, etc. I don’t have that up yet, but you can email me using the contact link on the website and I will send you some photos. 💪
Best bike ever
Have got one with carbon subframe and tank
Yoshy carbon titane
Factory kyb front and rear
Hi from France 🇫🇷
So sick! Thanks for watching Pierre!
So happy to hear those newer forks will bolt right up. Are the 18+ 250 and 450 forks the same spec? Length etc. I'll be searching for newer model forks for my 15 450 but want top open thr horizon to 250 forks if I come across some. Thank you
You’re welcome! I’m not sure about the 250, but I would not be surprised if it was the same situation. Most likely they will also slide into the stock clamps. But you’ll find out with a simple measurement. They don’t typically spend any money they don’t have to on alternative part numbers.
You can also do a spring conversion on your original stuff, and they will be quite good as well if you don’t like the air forks that is.
do you happen to know valve specs for a 2010 450? i just bought 1 yesterday. nice bike and graphics!!
you posting this video got kenny his win
🎶 She's a beauty..a one in a million girl 🎶 ..Nice Job Charles.😁👍🏁
Thanks dude, I’m ready to go get some scratches in it
@@mxrevival , go grip it and rip it Buddy...I bet she feels good and will surprise you...Those 🍌 are stout for the Average guy.😁👍
I have a 2016 rmz450 things a blast and they are quite fast haha😂
Hey where is that vid you made riding with 2 friends comparing your old and newer rmz450's?
I have 2021 RMZ and is awesome bike
Indeed!
Fresh. That seat cover 👌😮💨🤌
Thanks G!
Might need to try and update the forks on the 14 🤔 not the biggest fan of the SFF setup, although it’s not terrible
There are some really good deals on the new forks out there. You could even go to the 47 mm set up and grab the corresponding triple clamps from 2012 or so. That will really help if you find your frame is rigid too. I believe they did some frame modifications in 15 to reduce some rigidity. Just a blow it all again in 2018. Ha ha.
What about the 04 250 RMZ?? DONT SUGAR COAT, and what mods would you recommend to get the best experience?
Those wrinkles from the packaging always piss me off. Bike looks amazing I had one with the Bubba rep graphics, great bike no matter what the internet says
Bro i have 2018 rmz 450.. can i change my fork any rmz 2016?any idea?thanks
Idk why I love the jimmy John’s plastic so much but I do😂🤤
It’s ridiculous, I don’t know either. Yet here we are. 😂
@@mxrevival the yellow black and red just works! Now bring it out to cali and come ride😂
Wish you could work on my 2017 Rmz for me lol
Are you going to get back to that 89 rm? I really want to see that built.
Slowly digging parts and pieces out of storage after moving. Eventually.
Does anyone know part compatibility I have a 2008 rmz 450 and I need the ecm help???
Hell yeah brother 🔥🔥🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤜🤛
🍋😍
30 bucks for a rotor 😮 I just paid 210 for a rear galfer and 225 for OEM front rotor for my YZ 250! Been wanting to get another bike but I use my bike so much it’s hard enough keeping parts to it! Love Suzukis want to get a rmz250
Yeah, that was definitely one of the best deals I’ve gotten on eBay so far! The parts and mods never end haha. You can pick up inexpensive and oversized Tusk wave rotors too. They are actually pretty good and the front loader comes with that oversized bracket. Hope you get your RMZ!
@@mxrevival thanks! Me to brother Canada doesn’t allow us to have to much fun with our hard earned money 😂
Hi the plastic from rmz 2024 fitz 2017?
Would love to see you ride my 05 rmzilla. It's fresh. 18hrs
😍😍😍
Song name please !!!! Suzuki 450 for the win !!!!!!!!!
14 days til the YZ500 winner is announced !
Planning out a special day over here
Can I get those color plastics and that graphic kit for a 2018?
Yep! I believe I emailed you back today 🔥
Can I ship my bike to you to make it look like that? I have a 2013 RM Z250
If you want your graphics to survive long term. Put super glue or clear nail polish along the edges of the graphics after in place.
Theres been 3 generations of rmz in 19 yrs let that sink in 😂😂😂
Sorry for my bad english, i dont understand very well the video, i have a question, can i put the 2023 plastic kit on my 250 rmz 2012 ?
No problem. The only plastic that will fit your bike is 2008 through 2017. You can check out a website called Pryme MX as they may carry a bracket that will let you put a 2023 front number plate and front fender on your bike
@@mxrevival thanks
I’m about to trade my 2014 Polaris pro rmk 800 155 for a 2014 rmz450 I can’t wait I hope the bikes not a lemon
Did you ever end up not needing the exhaust setup?
That bad boy slid right onto my RMX450Z!
Am I too late to call dibs on the old DeCal bake matt?? 😉
Haha needed to shuffle that old dog into another bike stall here 😍 you can get them brand new from DeCal Works too!
I only ride suzuki. In fact I have paul walker sm totally underrated
I love it
Djenting in a motorcycle garage🤘🔥
What else is there, Brother 😍
Suzuki . Not change but still beautiful .
Sometimes it ends up being something you can count on in a good way 😎
New drinking game. Drink every time Charles says flap 😂😅
I reckon you’ll get down at least one adult beverage!
FLAP
I have a 16 and my air forks collapsed. I have no choice but to rebuild them with new seals. It's not easy finding the seals
You can prob find a good deal on complete set Suzuki spring forks on eBay right now for pretty cheap and like Charles was saying they’ll probably just drop right in. I recently bought ‘06 RMZ450 forks with the stock triple clamps all for $300 bucks and a shock from ‘06 for $250. I saw a lot of Showa spring forks and shocks in decent shape for pretty cheap.
@@mxcollin95 only thing on ebay right now is a $900 pair, completely out of my budget
FLM, that’s bizarre! Sounds like you had a failure in your inner chamber cartridge.
I ended up buying the parts to rebuild the fork seals and bushings in the 2016 forks before I made the video, but I could not believe how expensive just the fork seals and bushings were.
Compared to most other bikes, there were very few options for some strange reason, and they were much more expensive than normal. Just something I noticed.
@@frontlinemedia4270 just keep an eye out. I just kept checking eBay for probably two months before I found some decent deals. When I first starting looking there was nothing, then a few over priced deals popped up before I saw anything I wanted to pull the trigger on.
@@mxcollin95 do you happen to know which forks will fit in a 2016 rmz450?
I would rather have the air forks over that P.O.S SFF forks.
Agree!
The day you drop a Roczen replica bike video he wins you sir are good luck lol
It was a good day indeed! That was awesome
listen man i love your videos but it's disrespectful to build a beauty like this and not give it a brappp at the end of the vid
😂
I bought a sandwich in 2016
😂😂😂 beach club, number 12, with jalapeño chips, no drink
You make me want to go pick up an rmz 250
