What an awesome project for a guy who is working with minimal space!! I needed this video when Christmas and Birthday shopping. Shared this with my fiancé! He has a tiny shop in the back of our garage , it is his space and a work in progress, Thanks Jesse, great information!

I am blessed to live in SW Florida where our average January weather is 75/55. I love working with the doors open. Summers are hot and humid but my shop is in one bay of an attached air conditioned garage. I close the doors. I am enjoying your channel.

I’ll be building my shop this summer I’m looking at 12x10. I live in Montreal so it gets really cold 🥶 here. I will insulate but will look into your heating setup and solar power. Great video content thanks 🙏 ❤

Hi, did you ever put together a video for the temperature shut off (which is what I assume blew) near the end of the video? I didn't see one when I tried to find it. Thinking of getting this, but if it doesn't shut off when it hits the temp, I might reconsider.

I live just a little south of you in central Arkansas.
My 16 x 32 shop is currently heated with 2 oil filled radiant space heaters with a 20 inch box fan to circulate the heat. This portable shop was built on site and has been spray foam insulated. I have the heaters and the fan plugged into smart plugs that I automated based on the outside temperature. It was easy. Anytime the temperature rises above 55 F they turn off. And back on when it drops below 55 F plus the heaters have thermostats on each of them. And I have a dehumidifier in their that cycles as needed. One morning it was 20 outside and 60 in the shop. I don’t run the heaters and fan on high like that normally but that was a test to see how well it would work. I usually keep it around 50 ish until a couple hours before I’m ready to go out there.

Love this. I’m going this route for sure. My same size shed is arriving in 4 weeks.

It works great for my shop. If you have good insulation and no gaps it will stay warm and turn off when set to the temp you set it too

I am insulatiing my two car garage and have insulated garage doors already. I live in Southern Ontario Canada and it gets cold here just like Michigan and I am sick of being housebound in winter. I need my wood shop/garage heated so I can continue my projects that get held up because of the weather. I have looked this heater up on line and it will do the trick for me.

Thanks for sharing. I'm still bringing my glue, paints and stain in the house when I'm not using them.

I watched your wood drying vid and was curious what the outdoor relative humidity is in your area at this time of year? would it be possible to dry your lumber faster of it were outside with the wind (as long as its covered from snow accumulation)? I love in Houston so not wise to the ways of cold weather! last years freak cold snap and ensuing anarchy is case in point.

I live in southeast Missouri and we get below freezing temps all the time and above average humidity. I can dry it outside if I build a dedicated space with an attached dehumidifier. Which I may do over the summer.

Keeping condensation on your steel tools is another reason to keep your shop above freezing year round. I took a job where my employer provided the tools and so I kept my personal tools in an unheated garage only to figure out a lot of my tools had surface corrosion all over them.
The next winter I insulated and heated my garage, my tools are now stored in better conditions, my dog can come and go through a pet door in the garage when we put her outside, and the biggest perk of all, the wife’s car isn’t frozen the winter.
Yes electric heat is a little pricey but I’m willing to pay for the benefits.

Totally agree. I had to bust the rust off all my dads hand planes after the first winter.

I hope your electric rates didn't explode like mine did this winter.
To be clear, my usage was the same but the bills went through the roof!

So far only a slight difference but the rates did go up at the first of the year.
