When she was little n saw him run n screamed "dad" it breaks my heart. He deserved more time with her , and I get he did what he did to save her but losing 7 years of her life because of the hollow in him was so sad
Not to mention the 5 years he missed when he was locked up. He had her up till she was 2, met her again when she was 7, left again, stayed in contact for 2 years and after that he spends the little time they have together trying to save Haley and stop the hollow

Oh they could’ve FaceTimed - but he just never did - a lot of drama when she was older could’ve been avoided if they maintained a relationship over the phone or FaceTime. But at the same a FaceTime relationship with your child is nothing compared to being able to see and hug your kid in person. So I’m guessing he found it easier to manage his emotions, to just not contact her at all, because he said “loving her brings her closer to death”.
