I always wondered how could two blonde people with blue eyes have her as a daughter, then I found out. This is because Dan was initially meant to be played by another actor, a guy with a darker, more typically hispanic-like complexion. We still can see him in the pilot, then he was changed with Kevin Alejandro for reasons I don't know.

Lucifer is new to this world so he can’t really deal with emotions. Trixie is this little urchin he feels he has to protect, she’s just a child. That makes a whole story in it’s self.
