I have 4 gallon bags full of cotton scraps that I was planning on giving to a local thrift store. Now I am keep them! LOL I want to make some beds for my cats, and to donate some. Thanks for this great idea!
Yes!!! It's so easy to make a couple beds to donate to a family that would really want one for their furry family member. We love to hear it, keep it up Joann!
OMG!! That rope technique is BRILLIANT!! I've been searching for an easier way to make a dog bed for my pup and I like the rounded border look, but the ways to get that look in all the other videos were just to big of a pain and far too time consuming! You're my hero!! And my pups hero too! Thanks a ton! 😁
I agree! Just watch that your dog or cat is not interested in chewing on the rope or no little kitty claws can get caught. I know it's for dogs but cats follow their own instructions ;)
My daughter asked me to make dog beds for my Grand daughter stuff animals. This is exactly what I was looking for and will help use up my stash of fabric Thanks
OMG! just had to say that... such a brilliant tutorial and technique. Fortunately, I had all the supplies at home. Just made one for my Mishka (Shih Tzu). Thank you so much for sharing this brilliance.
I was looking for a “how to “ you just popped up ! Lolll I appreciate your “how to sooo much “ thank you and our local shelter will thank you too … you rock !!!
One yard by 24 in tall. 36 in x 24 in. Cut the corners into a rounded shape so that you have an oval. Starting at the center of one of the bottom straight edges, so all the way around leaving about an 8" gap. The rope casing trick around the edge is brilliant, to make it the sides come up.
Great ideas! Thanks so much for watching! You can text TRADE to 833-351-0814 to receive notifications about our live events and to receive special offers. Hope to see you again soon!
I love this idea, just in time for our newly adopted dog! One suggestion I would make...Maybe pull, tighten and knot the rope first and enclose that within the fabric before sewing the final opening closed.
Just what I've been looking for my dogs and my giant bag of scraps. Can't wait to try this. Seriously this looks so doable and will be helpful. Thanks!
We're so glad you like the project and it is a great fit for what you need! Everyone needs a good scrap project, right?! We hope your furry friends love them! We would love to see pictures🥰 Thanks so much for watching!
Thank you so much for your video and pattern! I will definitely be making this! The technique is absolutely brilliant!! It's made a subscriber out of me :)
Cute, poor guy: serger the pieces together. Use something long and thin to help push the poly fill around: back of wooden spoon, knitting needle, ruler..i’d also use the minki on the inside, my pups like softness. I’d also stitch over the center part to keep help keep the stuffing from moving around. Cute. I made little pincushions with doggie laying down on their side using this technique.
😍😍So sorry I am just catching this .I am trying to catch up on the comments. Hope to do better in the future. Thanks for watching our lives. We appreciate it !!!!!!
Very fun idea. Awesome that you included a built in dog toy... one of my ShihTzus loves to untie knots. She and her sister will have fun with this bed. Thanks for posting.
Please check with your local shelter first. Ours accepted dog beds filled with scraps, but washed them often. The scraps turned into a sodden mass that didn't dry easily so they threw them out. The beds were like a pillowcase full of scraps, not exactly like this bed, but a lot of work and material wasted if only used once. The shelter preferred towel mats - fold a large towel in half and then sew around the edges and some in the middle to keep the two layers together. Uses up your old towels and they launder well. Just FYI.
I did one with two old pillows and made a bed using a old jeans fabric to my little monster, just hoping that it will last longer (he distroys every bed i give to him >
I loved this tutorial. I have seen the cuddle dog beds. They are very similar to this one. They have higher side walls. I would love if you could do a video DIY :)
So glad you liked it! Thanks so much for watching! You can text TRADE to 833-351-0814 to receive notifications about our live events and to receive special offers. Hope to see you again soon!
Interesting idea, I have watched a few of your videos, and don't see pins, clips or a iron used, maybe that's why your projects look better than mine, thanks fo the idea!
As you can see we are behind with our replies. I hope you have your answer by now. I am trying to catch up and stay caught up. Thanks for your understanding and thanks for watching.
BEAUTIFUL!! I cannot seem to get the lumps and bumps smoothed out. Is that because I have to make the scraps very, very small? I mean, like they have been through a paper shredder? Help! I want to do this! Thank you!!
As you can see we are behind with replies. I am catching up and hope to stay that way going forward. I hope you have found the answer to your question by now. And thanks for watching!!
We hope you were able to make the pet bed and 2 yards was enough. So sorry for the late response. We hope it's perfect! Thanks so much for watching! ❤🎈😊
Has anybody washed a bed made with scraps? I made a small test bed with fabric scraps cut up about 1" x 1" and after washing and drying it, the fabric is very compressed and lumpy. For my second bed, I mixed in poly fill to lighten up the bed, but wondering if there are any other ideas.
Yes I can see how that would be a problem. I think surface washing would probably be the best. Let us know if you have any other ideas! Thanks for watching!
I had an idea. What if I use old clothes and make them into a sort of quilt and make it into that initial shape and then follow the rest of your instructions. That way I'd be recycling or reusing old clothes and preventing them from ending up in a landfill (those that are too raggedy to donate but can still be sewn into a funky dog quilt) do you think charities would accept them? Thank you!
As always nice detailed video, w/o excess chatter. But this is too much work and supplies to toss once it's smelly and grubby! (Well, yeah, it is leftovers..)
lamirada90638 of course, i’d recommend using fleece on one side and a minky/short pile furry fabric on the other so that when you reverse it, it’s soft on both sides :)
As you can see we are behind with replies. I am catching up and hope to stay that way going forward. I hope you have found the answer to your question by now. And thanks for watching!!
Great tutorial. I have to tell you that on the grid of thumbnails, this looks like it says Crap filled dog bed which freaking cracked me up, lolololol. AND made me want to watch even more becuse it was clearly not that. LOLOLOL.
What is the finished product size please? I want too make this for my dog but she's a big girl. If I knew the finished product size I can adjust the pattern to make it for her size.
As you can see we are behind with our replies. I hope you have your answer by now. I am trying to catch up and stay caught up. Thanks for your understanding and thanks for watching.

Awesome idea!! I have looked a long time for instructions like this...and it is a wonderful idea!!
Yay! We are so glad you like the tutorial! Happy sewing!
I so, enjoy your tutorials.

Cotton does not make a good filling. It gets very heavy when wet so hard to wash and holds odors. Use polyfil. You can use old pillow filling even.
I did one with two old pillows and made a bed using a old jeans fabric to my little monster, just hoping that it will last longer (he distroys every bed i give to him >
Where is a good place to buy polyfil?

This is mega cute. Definitely making this as a gift for my brother this Christmas!
So glad to hear! Wow sorry for the late reply... lol !
Check with your shelter first to see if they will accept these. Mine doesn't - they want towels or blankets that are easy to wash and sanitize.
🥰🥰
Wonderful and easy....but very creative. Thanks

Lot easier to thread the rope if you pin a safety pin on the end. Something to grab that slides easily. 😉
Great tip! Thank you! And thanks for watching!
As always nice detailed video, w/o excess chatter. But this is too much work and supplies to toss once it's smelly and grubby! (Well, yeah, it is leftovers..)

Can this bed be flipped over and used on the other side? I'm wondering if I used to Fabrics can it be reversible thanks in advance!

Is there an "unchewable" version? we have a tiny dog that chews everything!
Try a "no chew" spray on the bed. It may help.
@@TheJazzyDread for that I'll go with cayenne pepper, who knows what is in those sprays

superb. could you tell me the size for a labrador
