This was exactly what i am looking for. Thank you for this Video. Your Instruktions are easy to follow and i am going to make my First dogbed. Best wishes from Germany 😊
Hi Rob, you always go to a lot of effort and save us time by having your projects done in various steps. You just grab the pre-put together portions then move to the next step. You have a number of samples ready to finish and give away. Enjoy your enthusiasm.
Hi Rob, I made my first dog bed today. I made it for a little dog that comes to work with her mommy and makes me smile during the day. She was laying in a paper box with a blanket in it, now she will be extra comfy. Thank you for sharing this video with us.
Hi Rob, This is so darling! Your instructions are great too! Any cat or dog would be super lucky to have one. You have inspired me to make a new bed for Buttercup, my cat. Hugs, Ellen
3 years later and i used this to make my first dog bed, almost done with the fluffing and stuffing! you made it super easy for a beginner sewer! thank you!!!
Just found this as I am desperate to make a bed with side for rather large sheep dog 🐕 I can see how this would work and I love it. Here in the UK they seem to think dogs just like foam pad. Well my sheep dog loves a cosy bed just like my yorkie. So thank you great tutorial.
I have a Great Dane who has his own couch, and sleeps in the bed between my husband and I. (We know he is out of trouble when he is sleeping beside us.) We also have 4 cats who will LOVE the beds. Thank you for this idea. My Quilting guild is making beds for a local pet rescue and this will be wonderful for them.
Funny. I have a comforter that was my daughter's. it's like a cuddle fabric on top. everyday when we left for school, our dog would pull it off the bed and wrap himself I it. he eventually ripped a hole a few times and got himself stuck inside the comforter! I was debating earlier to either throw the comforter out or make 2 beds out of it since now both the dog and cat fight who gets to nap on it! Thanks for the video, just in time!
To hand stitch closed at the end, he did a super easy WHIP stitch. Simple and fast. That stitch is technically exposed on the outside of the fabric, but in this case it still doesn't show because it hides down in the nap of the cuddle fluff. If you were doing a solid color woven, for example, like maybe a soft washed cotton duck canvas, and wanted a really clean tailored look to the closure, look up tutorials on how to do a SLIP stitch. Slip stitches are very commonly used to close stuffed things, or to finish a garment like a lined vest that has to get turned inside out and finished by hand.
I have an old lovable hound (smelly) and I'm thinking of making this with a zipper. Than I'll be able to insert a bag of removable cedar chips when it's time to launder the bed and my best friend! Thanks Rob for this great tutorial. I've spent a lot of money on understuffed dog beds the last 17 years for my smelly best friend "Lucky" girl!
Just finished the cutest puppy bed, thanks for the great tutorial!! Wish I would have stuffed the bed first so I could top stitch the opening rather than having the sides stuffed and in the way. Live and learn!
This is exactly what I was looking for! Thanks for sharing the details for making this great Cuddle fleece pet bed! 😊 Really enjoy all your helpful videos. 👍🏼👍🏼
Wow Rob you sure make that look easy. I was planning to buy Ella our minipin a bed, but yours looks so much better. I am glad you made this video ! There's going to be a lot of happy pets as a result of this.
Made this for my cats and they love it! They couldn't even wait until I stitched it closed one of them started sleeping on it right after i stuffed it.
Hey Rob, thanks for showing us this. What a great idea.... a little tip, next time try a walking foot, that might help with the fabric feeding into and won't bulk up like it did. Hope that helps you.. lol hugs Barb
Oh my gosh I love this pet bed!!! And your directions are so easy to follow. I have two cats and one small dog and each will soon have their own homemade snuggle bed thanks to you! I cannot tell you how much I look forward to your tutorials every Monday. The never fail to put a smile on my face and give me great sewing/quilting ideas. Thanks a million!!! :)
Thank you so much for this video I did a crochet graphghan bed for my dog Leia she absolutely loves it and gets upset if anyone takes it too even wash it, however we sometimes find her using her paws too grab towels we leave near her doggie door when she goes in and out/ start pawing it into a Pillow for her to lay her head on, which we think is hilarious. So I started thinking about making her a second bed with my sewing machine that has a pillow for her to rest her head on. This bed would be perfect, I just have to figure out the measurements for a larger dog. She's German Shepard/ Belgium Malionois mix.
I have 6 cats, and 3 of them love keeping me company when I'm sewing....preferably between me and the sewing machine. I think I might try making one of these purely so I can put them somewhere out of my way that's too comfy to leave ;)
we have two cats, 3 dogs all rescued we just rescued 2 of our 3 dogs who are a long haired Chihuahua and a short haired Chihuahua and our Beardie, Draco (for those that know what a beardie is its a nick name for a bearded Dragon.
Hahaha, I made that for my little grand child as she slept with her mother and to stop her rolling on the baby. She loved it so much I had to make a second one xx
you know cats love beds too. (see pic to the left) Is there a way to make it smaller? My cats love to sleep in the sun and since we are in AZ there is A LOT of sun.
Omg... I just stumbled onto your page and wages a couple of your videos. First of all, I am so happy to see a male doing sewing videos. Men and women have different ways of doing things and I like to look for options before I try something. I’ve been wanting to learn how to sew for a few years now and looking to buy my first sewing machine. Do you have any recommendations on what budget friendly sewing machine I should buy? My second question is if you could show us how to make a dog bed and a sofa bed for a large Doberman pincher? There several videos for small dogs but I need something for our big dog. Another idea I have is to make a portable, or collapsing bed for hi. To take to the park and the beach with an umbrella or some sort of shade to protect him from the sun. Thank you so much for sharing your videos and I am definitely watching more of your videos and subscribing. Who knows, maybe you can make that umbrella too. 🙂
I made a dog bed for a puppy who may get to 40-50 pounds. I did 31x33 to fit the kennel. I wanted it to squeeze in so it would not move much . I found a dollar scrap of shannon at a quilter sale and used up ancient stuffing so figure it only cost $22 total($8 for new bag). It took 52 to 60 ounces of stuffing. Ended up adding some batting scraps..Made 3 cat beds so far too. Maybe this will help someone else figure it out.
My dog has a similarly shaped commercial bed that he has begun to gnaw through , but it’s still 95% stuffed and in good form. I am going to try to adapt your pattern to make a removable cover for his current bed. Any suggestions ?
Good video! I am going to use the tips to make a round donut bed. Thanks! PS. Looks like your dog will have multiple beds. Lol. Good to be able to wash one and have one for use.
HI Rob. Thanks so much for sharing this video, going to try it today. I enjoy all of your videos! I have learned a ton from you already and I always look for a new video from you, I suspect you are artistic. Is there Man Painting? I have a question, any advice for the sewer who starts a million projects and doesn't finish them because I can't wait to try something else! I hope this ends soon! I am only sewing a few years and I LOVE IT! It's endless! Thanks again for being there.
I prefer using 100% cotton fabric because my maltese/poodle felt too hot with the polyester fabric which you are using ....... they prefer sleeps on the tile floor ^--^
Hello... Now for the bigger dog.. Old English Mastiff 280 lbs and over 7 foot long... what's the calculations... Do I need to measure my dog??? Love this idea. Is it washable??? Thanks for sharing.
Great video! I looked at the link for the .PDF to make the bed. I am confused by the second drawing (about perimeter + 6"). Is that if I'm trying to make it a different size then you made yours?
Man Sewing - Thank you for this video as it seems so easy. I am not a seamstress but I think I can do this! I do have a question though - my kennel is 27 in x 18 in...how would I calculate the right sizing to cut out so it fits correctly? Thank you for your help! I am excited to personalize and make this!!
This pet bed looks easy enough even for me to make! I think before I make the beds for our cats, I'll buy stock in the fiberfill company because we have 10 (yes, TEN) cats in the house, 2 full time cats in the garage and 1 cat (soon to be 2) in the barn! The garage cats will get theirs first. And if it gets really cold out, 1 or 2 more cats show up in the garage. And guess what? We have NO mice!
I make circular beds (27-36") for bigger dogs, using duck canvas to make the 'inner' bed and fleece for the outer bed. Both beds are made with 'sides', in the fleece one I put a 30" zipper so the outer bed is easily removed for washing. I use (washed) old pillows and the like for stuffing so if need be the entire inner bed can be washed and dried. Using fabric scraps makes the beds very heavy and almost impossible to dry thoroughly, but those could be used in smaller dog/cat beds. I've toyed with the idea of spraying the inner duck canvas with water repellent such as Scotchgard, but am concerned that even when it dries the chemicals used will hurt the animals. Any ideas on the repellents? I do like the idea of the 'walls' like Rob has shown, may try it with some of the smaller beds.
Hi Cathy! It sounds like you make some awesome dog beds! As for ideas about repellents, I would suggest talking with a local veterinarian to make sure you use something that is pet friendly. Have fun with your sewing projects!
This is a great idea, but the pattern only shows one 7” x 60” strips. The video shows 2 strips sewn together so wouldn’t you need another 7” of fabric to make as shown?
I think your pdf has an error? Should there not show a second 7"x60" needed? Plan on making this for my 50lb dog, so need to scale it to her size. Thanks for the pattern!
I made a quilt for my son for Christmas. And I have some leftover fabric, then my son adopted a puppy, Oberon will get to be 30 pounds. I think I have enough fabric left to make the sides and base, I can use a coordinated fabric for the bottom, the fabric is Dunroven blue and red checked plaid do you think this fabric will work? Then son and puppy can have matching bedding..also he lives in Texas so I think flannel or cuddle fabric might be to warm. Any ideas?
Hi Sherrie! You can use almost any fabric for the bed. I used cuddle fabric for this tutorial. If you think flannel would be too warm, then you could use denim or canvas. Hope you have fun creating your dog bed!
I could do the same for my cat. Thanks. I have a nonprofit called Fear Thou Not and I promote the Buddy System for women. I am a facilitator of Cuddle Party, which teaches the Buddy System in a group setting without alcohol or drugs so people can learn boundaries. I like the words you use!
trying something new. I have seen self heating pet beds and they have Mylar in them to reflect the heat. Thinking of using insulbright in the bed do you think this will work for the self heating since it reflects heat. example : heat from animal reflects from insulbright back to our furry friend we have 4 cats that live outside, this will be there first winter
Hey Rob! What's up! If anyone has a inside cats loves to sleep under the covers and blankets make a pillow r buy a pillow and make a blanket like a pillow case. I'm youngest cat Smokey she loves sleeping under the covers and blankets. I have a RUclips video. Smokey sleeping on a pillow. It's really cute. I think I have one r two views. I think.

About a week ago I made a dog bed (before your video) and stuffed it with all my sewing scraps!! My dog loves it!!
+Joy PETERS that is such a great idea!! Thanks for watching!
I made this bed for our two free roam house bunnies Mando & Lorien, brilliant, thank you for the tutorial!
Hi Rob, This is so darling! Your instructions are great too! Any cat or dog would be super lucky to have one. You have inspired me to make a new bed for Buttercup, my cat. Hugs, Ellen
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I just got my first puppy a few months ago and made my first dog bed! He absolutely loves it ❤
Watched your video after dinner and completed on for my new puppy, within an hour! Great instructions, for a great little Chipin Bed.
3 years later and i used this to make my first dog bed, almost done with the fluffing and stuffing! you made it super easy for a beginner sewer! thank you!!!

Cozy you mean.
I have several dog beds to make and cat beds. Yours is just what I Needed. I have tons of material.

I amazing toys for one of bend oregons shelters... if they all take home made toys they can all get some..
, I meant, I made amazing toys for the oregano shelter.

I love this tutorial. I was so entertained and interested throughout the entire video that I was surprised that it was 18 minutes!
This is exactly what I was looking for! Thanks for sharing the details for making this great Cuddle fleece pet bed! 😊 Really enjoy all your helpful videos. 👍🏼👍🏼
Great and easy tutorial. I successfully made a bed for my cats and they adore it
I love this tutorial... I adapted it a little bit, since I used moving pad as filling for my rabbit's house bed.
Wow Rob you sure make that look easy. I was planning to buy Ella our minipin a bed, but yours looks so much better. I am glad you made this video ! There's going to be a lot of happy pets as a result of this.
I'll make this bed for me because my babies took over my bed lol thanks love this bed you are great
Donna DiMarco Campagne 😃🤣😂🤣😃😮
Made this for my cats and they love it! They couldn't even wait until I stitched it closed one of them started sleeping on it right after i stuffed it.
Hey Rob, thanks for showing us this. What a great idea.... a little tip, next time try a walking foot, that might help with the fabric feeding into and won't bulk up like it did. Hope that helps you.. lol
hugs
Barb
I was going to say the same thing. ;)
Yes, perfect project for a walking foot. These fabrics that move are what the walking foot was designed for in the first place.
babescraftroom whats the foot that he is using?
The shop-vac tip is truly necessary!
+Darryl Strohl you sound like you've had experience with that! :) Those who work with cuddle, learn quickly!!
Awww so adorable gonna have to make one for our squirty. She will love it!
I have to make two large beds for my German shepherds, this is just what I was looking for! Thank you 🐶
Hi! I’m curious, do you remember what dimensions you used? Thank you!
Sorry,it was such a long time ago but I do remember that they shredded it so I bought toddler beds and made them matching quilts 😂
I made a dog bed for my new grand-dog! So easy to sew, thanks!
Fantastic, Roseanne! I bet your grand-dog loves it!
She loves it, if I knew how to send a pic I would, lol.

Amazing! The instructions are wonderful, as usual, but the stuffing explanation was perfect.
+Barbara Houston so glad you liked that explanation! Thanks for watching!
Oh my gosh I love this pet bed!!! And your directions are so easy to follow. I have two cats and one small dog and each will soon have their own homemade snuggle bed thanks to you!

I've been looking for a quick and easy doggie bed for my little schnauzer. You make it look so easy! I'll be trying it out next week sometime!
+Robin Farley you've got a lucky pup!! We can't wait to see!
use a cheap bed pillow for the base ,so it can be removed and washed
CUTE! I'm using up all my doggie flannel this week making crib quilts. Guess I'll need more doggie fabric for the stash.
+cb1504 I guess you're right!!
Hey Sew Man, thank you for this wonderful video, I've always wanted to make fur baby beds, love the fabric choice

That was really easy to follow, thank you so much.😊
Where did you get the fabric printed with the doggies? I love it. Would make a great snuggle sack.
I love your pattern can I ask where you got it
I love dogs,and cats
Thanks Rob🙏 I'm going to make it for our pet dog jimmy 🐕 I'm your new subscriber 😀 best wishes from India 🙏
can you use a good quality fleece as well? I love the dog bed and your video!
+Susan R Yes you could definitely do that!, it wouldn't be as soft but it would still make a great bed! :)
Thank you for the tutorial and I made one for my pooch
Great video. Very practical tutorial.
I saw one of these beds in a large size that the bed and Walsh were separate. That way you could wash it.
Good video! I am going to use the tips to make a round donut bed. Thanks!
PS. Looks like your dog will have multiple beds. Lol. Good to be able to wash one and have one for use.
Thank you for sharing your talents
+Meaghan Larsen Thank YOU for watching and following along!
Very cool. I think I'd make this round for my kitty, since cats are boneless they like round beds.
love it, I will be making one for my 80 lb dog lol need to figure out how to make it larger
Just cut the fabric bigger
I prefer using 100% cotton fabric because my maltese/poodle felt too hot with the polyester fabric which you are using ....... they prefer sleeps on the tile floor ^--^
You are ABSOLUTELY AWESOME….LOVE YOUR DOGGIE TOO…SINCERELY CARMEN BALKO
Just found your channel. Awesome tutorial, thank you!
Hi Rob, Did you cut the tube for the round bed on the bias?
Great design and tutorial!
What brand is your new sewing machine?
Man Sewing, is it always safe to assume if not specified your doing a straight stitch in these projects?
Man Sewing - Thank you for this video as it seems so easy. I am not a seamstress but I think I can do this!
I do have a question though - my kennel is 27 in x 18 in...how would I calculate the right sizing to cut out so it fits correctly?
Thank you for your help! I am excited to personalize and make this!!
I make mine half the size of kennel so our baby can space for water dish and stretch.😂🙏
This pet bed looks easy enough even for me to make! I think before I make the beds for our cats, I'll buy stock in the fiberfill company because we have 10 (yes, TEN) cats in the house, 2 full time cats in the garage and 1 cat (soon to be 2) in the barn! I make circular beds (27-36") for bigger dogs, using duck canvas to make the 'inner' bed and fleece for the outer bed. Hi Cathy! It sounds like you make some awesome dog beds! As for ideas about repellents, I would suggest talking with a local veterinarian to make sure you use something that is pet friendly. Have fun with your sewing projects!
Love your voice!
Have you tried making pet beds with tents.
Do you have the measurements of the materials you are using? I have anti pil fleece, would that do?
This is absolutely fantastic
I was wondering if it would work if I used a pool noodle, instead of stuffing. My dog beds would have to be much buggier.
Where did you get the fabric?. Thank you for this tutorial. I love your baby like sewing machine now I have to go get one. I have a baby like Audrey
My dog and i are like sisters and we share a room i love her
You can't show pictures., it doesnt give an option..
This is a great idea, but the pattern only shows one 7” x 60” strips. The video shows 2 strips sewn together so wouldn’t you need another 7” of fabric to make as shown?
shame I have no dog but a nice pattern for a little playpen to put baby in for a kick. Thank you for the tutorial xxx
+Tineke Williams this would be a great gift for someone with pets! :) Thanks for watching!
I think your pdf has an error? Should there not show a second 7"x60" needed?
Plan on making this for my 50lb dog, so need to scale it to her size. Thanks for the pattern!
Can you send me the measurement or the pattern please
I made a quilt for my son for Christmas. And I have some leftover fabric, then my son adopted a puppy, Oberon will get to be 30 pounds.
+Charlotte Fairchild so awesome!! Thanks for sharing that with us! :)
I also have 3 sewing machines. 2 are 60+ years old. I just got one serviced. I am really glad you are doing things for pets!
trying something new.
It looks vry easy I am going to fo it Thans so much 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻❤️
Hey Rob! I think.
+Dena Bandsma awesome! Thanks for sharing, we'll check it out!
+Man Sewing. Ur welcome.
