❤❤❤adorable. I'm going to be making beds for rescue cats and small dogs. I've been rescuing abandoned and feral cats for 17 years. I no longer rescue because I'm disabled and unable to, but I can make beds. Thank you for showing ways to make them.
I make them all the time, I have 5 ready for their new home. Number 6 is nearly half full, love making them. Mine are made in muslin, then either fleece or flannel envelope covers, so everything is wash and dryable.
Yes slip covers are truly important for easy cleaning. Sounds like you've been making them for awhile, any other ideas you'd like to share? I always love advice on making them better. ❤
@@constanceklaggethanks, I square the corners, hang the bag next to my sewing/ironing/cutting area, so I can add all the skimpy trimmings into it. Fabric, batting, and old clothes (that are not goodwill worthy) less zippers, buttons, etc, all cut into smaller pieces l also add Old towels, sheeting and throw rugs that are all washed dried and cut up.
Great tutorial. I save all of my scraps for a friend that makes these beds and donates them to the local shelter. I love the quilt on the back wall. Do you have the pattern for it?
Hola !! El perro va estar muy cómodo !!! Gracias !! Me gustaría que hicierais más tuturiales !! Pero comprendo que estáis muy ocupados con el negocio os deseo que os valla muy bien familia un abrazo
I have not Made one yet. I want to though we have 2 dogs we paid a fortune for the first beds we got for them. I did not know how to sew then. I don’t have enough scraps though I was thinking of using a pillow for the middle and scraps for the outside. Is that doable?
My Humane Society said they would not take them for the dogs because the dogs would rip them apart. Maybe they could give them two dogs that get adopted but there probably isn’t any space to store them
Wouldn't it be be better to use all those scraps of (probably quite expensive) lovely, new quilting fabric to make scrap quilts and even curtains and cut up old, faded, worn-out cotton t-shirts or cannibalise the insides of old duvets for the stuffing? I bought quality quilting cotton, here in Scotland, for the first time last year to make a Christmas sofa throw (having only bought a fat quarter here and there in the past) and, when all added up (ended up also buying matching fabric for further projects), cost a fortune. Every single square centimetre of that fabric will be used for something. I'm no believer in much of the "green" nonsense, but the idea of brand new fabric going into dog bed stuffing and old t-shirts going into landfill doesn't sit right with me. Dogs would probably be comforted by the (perceptible only to them) scent of their owner(s), rather than the manufacturing smell of new fabric. I think it's a great idea to make these, but it doesn't do justice to the fabric. If you have too many fabric scraps and it's making you feel guilty and cluttering up your home, why not give them to someone who'd love to put them to good use and who can't afford to buy the fat quarters and bolts of fabric new and make them very, very happy. For most of us in the West (watching in Scotland), abundance is a burden.
I was making beds using fabric scraps for my towns cat rescue. Found out when the beds get dirty they throw them away. When they wash them it takes forever to dry them. They can’t deal with that. The ones I have do take a long time to dry so don’t make them anymore. I hear batting works better.🤷🏼♀️
Pet beds could be a fun community service project in the future.
Yes!

Thanks for the kind words and thanks for watching!!
I mix batting scraps and or fiber fill with my scraps. It helps to make it softer and a little less lumpy.
That's a great idea!
all those beautiful scraps going into a dog bed hurt my quilting heart. old pillow stuffing would be my preferred. lol
Haha we forgot to add the "Trigger Warning" in the intro! 😅
I was looking for a way to use up batting scraps. Thank you for the inspiration.

I would love to make a bed for Sophie but she is a greyhound and huge. It’s ok I made a dog bed virtually and it came out great. Thank you

Using an inexpensive pillow sounds like a great idea. Or how about using an inexpensive bed pillow and just using the filling...
I would think so!
make sure to check the back side for parts that did not get sewn.
👍👍😊
Be good for pet shelters

Polyester scraps would probably dry a lot faster.
Thanks for watching and for the input~
