Nice as always! Btw, that edge banding ironing technique also works great with real veneer. The only extra step is that you have to glue everything with wood glue (with a roller) and let it dry.
Hi, here’s a tip i recently learned. Crimp the dowels slightly with crimp pliers before glueing them in. The crimp allows the air to easily come out. Because of the glue they swell back to a round shape. Try it out. Ps: you deserve more subscribers! Love your philosophy and work.
Clever idea to use masking tape to prevent squeezed out glue running on a ready-to-go surface. Thanks for sharing. Those dogs should sleep with their eyes wide open so they can see what a beautiful bed you made for them.
Nice project Keith. I personally liked the original bed legs more. On a side note I managed to get my small workshop done in our garden. Pretty much it’s similar to yours with few changes. I’m still on the process of setting it up and making the layout! It’s a lot of work. But I enjoy it as it’s a hoppy for me. I start making small projects too. Hopefully things will progress more and more over time as it’s more or less is a learning curve for me. 😇 Big thanks to you Keith. You have been an inspiration. I have learnt a lot from you by watching your wonderful videos 👍
Once again nice job Keith. To be fair I’d sleep in that never mind the dog! (I’ve spent plenty of time in the doghouse my missus says so why not the dogs bed! Cheeky cow) Any way what I was going to add was that to save time trying to get the end square when you’re joining edge band end to end like that you could just over lap it slightly then cut down through both pieces. Lift up the one end and remove the cut off sliver that’s underneath. Now when you lay it back down again and heat it with the iron to stick it down permanently it’s a perfect butt joint! Worked for me on my mother in law’s kitchen units. (And she’s a fussy bugger!) 👍 Oops. Looks like I’m off to the doghouse again!
Ha ha. Hat and coat stand crew here . I was just thinking that's that hat and coat stand wood and you said that lmao . Nice job with the bed it looks good mate well done .
Hi Keith , another great job , when I put dowels in I like the turn the grain to the same direction as the wood it goes into, also some masking tape has a time as to how long it best to stick for or you could try frog tape for the glue areas more expensive but worth it for the time save , keep up the good work , Graeme.
This is very cool. On the edge-banding, where it had the bubble, couldn't you have used the heat gun to loosen the part with the bubble and then pressed it flat and trimmed it instead of having to remove the whole thing? I've never seen oak-looking mdf before. They only have the really crappy kind in my area. I live in a very humid area so mdf does not hold up well. I would be concerned that dogs drooling might mess it up. LOL. But it's still very neat.
I also found it a bit fiddly to get the corner plastic bits to stay in place as i tightened up the band clamps .. i simply used some masking tape to hold them in place works a treat
Keith, I'm still binge-watching your videos and I was actually wondering about how you ship your stuff, where you buy/get/find boxes etc. can't wait to find out lol
Very well done and congratulations to your success on the channel :) any tips for growing? I started a dog house channel a few months ago and I’m struggling to get noticed
Post regularly so that the RUclips algorithm recommends your videos, and good eye catching thumbnails so people click them. That’s about all I got. I’ll check out your channel and sub!
One piece of advice for posting items, avoid Hermes for smaller items and TNT for larger items. Although I've never had a problem with any parcels I've sent with Hermes, I ordered a large Go Kart online that was sent out with Hermes Light and Large, and the tracking said that it was delivered and put in the shed, but the driver never even came to the house. As we have CCTV all around the house, we sent the footage to Hermes and they obviously didn't care as we still have the same driver! And with TNT, at least in my area, they don't actually strap any of the packages down in the back of the van so they just slide around, we had quite a few items turn up completely smashed, but they were the only courier that would accept item's over 30KG for a somewhat reasonable price
@@RagnBoneBrown I agree about DPD, if I want a parcel to get there on time, I send it DPD. The fact that I can track the parcel in real time is excellent. Parcel force have started doing that with some of my shipments but its hit or miss
Mr. Brown. You seem to always be able to be in your shop, no matter what time of the year. Can you reply and let me know how you heat your shop, or maybe even make a video about it. Thanks
Why not use a biscuit joiner to help with alignment (not strength) when gluing? you're probably saving up to buy a domino ... anyway... you could make a crown with the edge banding or a Pocahontas headband if you're that inclined?;)
I don’t really get on with biscuits, probably because my machine (a Draper) hasn’t proven very accurate. I’m in two minds about getting a domino... I’d love one but I’d get so many nasty comments!! RUclipsr dilemma
Nice job, but I personally hate them iron on edging strips for several reasons, main reason being after a while it does decay and then makes the job look tatty and cheap looking.
You are correct Hermes are rubbish glass bowl arrived in 6 pieces iron bar got lost got money back from firm got it some where else first one arrived weeks later
Its so crazy seeing how far you and your tools have come in 4 years
Love it. If you do get an air bubble make slit with s sharp Stanley blade that releases the air then gently reheat the glue press down job done
The bed looks great. Glad to see the commissions are coming in. Best wishes
I can picture you in 50 years from now when the grandkids want a piece of wood and you pull out some offcuts of
the hat and coat stands
Don't you know it. I think his suppl of oak coat stands is limitless!
Omg! I was just telling my husband about those stands. This comment is GOLD! 😂🤣😂🤣

Yeah every so often they are very useful! The Evolution works great and is pretty cheap
Cool stuff, man!! Very meticulous work!!
I spent my life between the woods in my father's carpentry shop and i will complete my life enjoying watching your work
I'd never seen or heard of a card scraper before...that looks like an awesome tool to have! I learned something new today thanks to you!!
The edge banding turned out very neat and the dowel looks good too
Also, 3:26 thank you for including that bit! 🐈
The cat was inspecting how the work was going on.
I love it would of been nice if you gave the messerment or sell the plans

Nice save with the edge banding! Another successful project.
Thank you for sharing the film.😊
woo hoo the dog bed video! I like how you showed the problem with the edge band and fixed it instead of editing it out.
Nice job Keith, sure the Dog and the client will like it, have a nice day !!!

Did the cat come in to order a bed too!? Cat is cute by the way! Enjoy your videos Keith, you explain everything really clearly. All the best, Brian
Good video Keith! Thank you for sharing it with us.👍😎JP
Great work, looks awesome mate. looking forward to that packing and sending video.
Good video, as usual! Can you advise on the mineral oil you used, please?
I really enjoy your videos, regardless of the build. Keep up the great work!
God you.ve made good use of tgose hat and coat rack stands. Well done Keith anothe great project.
Fascinating
You always do a great job, nice one 😊

Nice project, as always ^^ I'm sure the client and especially the dog will be happy :D good job!
Yes the hat stands strives on lolol great job mate
I’m late but I like this project and I have a question do you have the measurements of every material you have cut?
Hatncoatstandcrew defently one of those haha! Good job mate looks great can't wait for another 7 days to pass!
Don’t wish your life away! Another video coming this weekend
Great video mate 👍
Me encantó, super genial
Good job
Good job!
Where do you get the cushions?
Next time, try popping the bubble with a needle and ironing that spot. Nice build
Are softwood windows any good?
Great work. May I please know the size of this bed?
How are those blue Stanley chisels of yours. The handles are made out of polypropylene. You had those chisels from 2015 .Is it worth it?
They’re ok, I use them as my main chisels. I have some older ones which seem to hold an edge a little better though
Looks amazing!! Would love for you to make my pup one!!
I need 2 how much are they ?
Keith, I'm still binge-watching your videos and I was actually wondering about how you ship your stuff, where you buy/get/find boxes etc. can't wait to find out lol
another great build Keith... any chance of the plans being released any time soon. All the best . LFB.
I’ll try and put some together for Etsy in the next few days 👍
@@RagnBoneBrown that's great Keith,that should keep her. Quiet .
How do I buy one
Can you please let me know the size of the bed?
Next time when you tape of joints to catch glue squeeze out, remove the tape when the glue has just gelled. Then it comes of clean and easy.
Would love to get one made for my pups would you consider taking on another project ?
in future use your iron with a teatowel to get the airbubble out

I’ve had bad experiences with nearly all couriers to be honest, except DPD so far but it’s only a matter of time I’m sure!

Interesting video. I'm supposed to build a doll bed,
I too have bits of scrap wood which is dear to me.. 😁
We need a “reveal” in your next vlog on how much oak hat stand you have left.
Ok! Love that idea
Also can you make a list of all the projects you have used them in!
Shout out to the hat rack, butcher block and pineapple shorts crew!
Through hard learned experience I developed the patience to let the glue on my projects dry over night. Just my 2 ¢...

I wear thermals in the winter and have an oil filled radiator. But I haven’t put the heating on yet, when I’m working I get hot anyway
Why didnt you try poking the bubble with the nidle? :) i think it could work ? have to test it... :D

All you had to do to remove the edgebanding was give it a pass with the iron and it comes off like nothing
How is that coat stand oak still here I thought u used it all, wow
Still got a few bits!
hhmmmm..... using a heat gun to remove iron-on edge banding.... TODAY I LEARNED! Cheers!!
I learned too! Thanks 👍
david atfus In the past I’ve just reheated it with the iron again. That works too. 😉
