i live in perth. the viewing deck is based on the wright brothers first flight. i remember watching VH-OEI land in 2018 and my eight-year-old self thinking 'why is the plane so big' rip 747
Hi Josh, Qantas was the first airline ever to order and receive their first Boeing 747-200's with 20 passenger windows on the upper deck where they had the Captain Cook first class lounge. Have really enjoyed your Qantas videos. Safe landings.
Interesting fact, in 1989 a Qantas 747-438 made a world-first non-stop flight in 17hrs, 22mins all the way from London Heathrow to Sydney Australia covering 10,563 miles (17,000+KM’s). This flight broke all non-stop flight records, it was almost 30yrs later that another commercial flight flew from the Australian continent to London non-stop which was also a Qantas aircraft (Dreamliner), though this flew from Perth which is “only” 14,500 Kim’s. The 747 aircraft, “City of Canberra” is now on display in a regional airport on display, ironically its final flight time from Sydney was just 15 minutes which is also the shortest scheduled flight ever for a 747. It touched down on a runway less than half the length of a typical major airport and was therefore carrying very little fuel to ensure a safe stopping distance.
Great review as always! 747 fact: upper deck was designed as such because designers thought that supersonic aircrafts would soon become the new queen of the sky. it was designed to easily convert 747s to cargo planes.. 😊
Great video yet again! Perhaps my favorite aircraft. Fact: The 747 is capable of caring a spare engine, mounted between engine #2 and the frame. Often the plane would have to refuel due to the extra drag.
the 747-400/er has a larger nose wheel than all the other 747 varients, has a blue rim to to notify tugs its larger, this is for the extra fuel tank under the nose gear - making it the 400/ER Passenger Variant, developed bespoke for Qantas - that the best i got!
An employee told me (long time ago!) that Qantas maintain all their aircraft in Sydney, so if a 747 had various engine problems, they could fly it back to Sydney from anywhere with min 2 engines! NO passengers of course! But the beautiful old bird was so safe she could go across the world on 2 engines, for maintenance.
Cool 747 fact - Some models of the 747 had a high-speed flutter problem in the wings, It was solved the by placing depleted uranium counterweights in the outboard engine nacelles...
That's remarkable! How did you find such inside information? I wonder how the mechanics felt about it, as depleted uranium is still slightly radioactive.
Jeff Campbell DU trim weights were used on aircraft for many years they were coated In cadmium plating to remove any radioactivity, Boeing also used them in wing assemblies and rudder manufacture. It’s all common knowledge in the aviation industry I was in the military for a number of years.
My first ride and experience on a plane a 747 (air pacific ‘05)known as fiji airways now was from fiji islands to Los Angeles USA and she was beautiful ♥️
I reckon Qantas has the worst business class product of any airline flying out of Australia. I can’t believe you went with a tomato based soup while wearing a white hoodie, a brave man!
I don’t have a specific 747 fact but when I was a kid I went on my first 747 which also happened to be the first Air Pacific (now Fiji airways) between Sydney and Nadi back in 2003.

SYD-DFW on QF is longer than SYD-LAX. QF used to use the 744ER before the A380 on this route. I heard, don’t know if true, but Boeing modified the 744ER for QF trying to reach DFW & ORD nonstop from SYD and MEL. Alas ORD was never meant to be. But Josh love ur work, and I love that u have as many coach reviews as u do biz class
The first Boeing 747-238B aircraft went into service in September 1971. The oldest qantas 747-400 was VH-OJM flew it’s final flight as QF73 from Sydney to San Francisco.
Such a fun exercise to give tribute to the amazing queen of the sky! Fun fact: did you know... The Wright brothers could have fit their historic first flight inside a 747. It’s like WOW😍✈️🛫 queen of the sky, still my fav❣️
When the 747 was originally introduced Boeing wanted to make a converted freighter version that carried bombs and missiles for the military. It was either used as a flying transporter or the largest bomber with a conveyor belt to release the bombs.
WeLcome to, India! The two great AirLines India has to offer is, 1-Vistara 2-Indigo! Both are LCCs but are the BEST in the country! I recommend you, them! Besides that, I wish you a very happy, joyous, comfortabLe and a peacefuL occasion of yours here in, India. Cheers, Bro.
The B747 used to do a longer flight for Qantas which I flew in 2012, it used to go from Dallas to Brisbane Australia and then to Sydney, this was before the SYD-DFW flight on the A380, now Brisbane can no longer fly direct to Dallas!
The 747 will always have a special place in my heart and am a little saddened that this airframe will one day cease to operate pax flights. Another great video! Can we swap lives?
Two great facts with ELAL Israeli airlines- 1. They had an all Economy B744 with 521 seats en route from Tel Aviv to JFK, nearly a 12 hour flight. 2. In 24/5/1991 Israel air lifted over 14,000 Eghiopean Jews in an emergency military evacuation from Adis Ababa to TLV in only 36 hours, using 30 aircrafts. In one B744 belonging to EL AL they boarded 1,086 pax and when they landed there were 1,088 pax as there were two births in the air. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Solomon
I hope you enjoy the India tour this time and BTW I very very highly recommend you flying in Air Vistara's Business Class as it has now been rated as the Best Airline in India!!!I've flown with them and they are Excellent so I do highly recommend you to try it out!!😁😁😄
What lounge was that??????? Didn’t look much like the Qantas F lounge which last time I was there has a proper restaurant and no buffet? Looked a lot more like the BA lounge!
OMG!!!What an amazing video it was.I absolutely loved it!You are making some really great Flight Review's and that's awesome!!Keep Up The Good Work!!😁😁😆😆😆😄
747 is a 4 engine powered aircraft which is made by Boeing company and it is the first double-deck aircraft in the world and it is having above 500+ passenger capacity. ;)
How much weight does an additional 6-foot (1.8-m) wingtip extension and winglet add to the 747-400 wing? None! A weight savings of approximately 5,000 pounds (2,270 kg) was achieved in the wing by using new aluminum alloys, which offset the weight increase of the wing tip extension and winglet.
Oh! I hate Qantas so much! For having given up almost all direct flights to Europe. And for joining Emirates as a codeshare partner. We are looking forward to welcoming Qantas back on direct flights to Australia from all over the world.
Be thankful Quantas still flies to some European destinations compared to the failed Malaysia Airlines who only have one European destination and only flies to less then 10 Asian countries
Hey Josh Absolutely love all your videos! Your india tour should definitely not feature Air India(HIGHLY UNLIKELY ANYWAY!) But make sure to try Vistara they have a 9/10 on Skytrax
Never heard about that airline...it has 9/10 because its not popular.few people rated it high.its obvious that all those pax rated it with 10, because they never went on an airplane before, so that gives them that 9/10 score.
Josh I absolutely love your videos. Keep on the great work !!!! All the best from Tel Aviv, Israel. P.S. - We would love to have you here and show you around.
747 fact: A pilot misinterpreted a signal and switched on the plane's engine. The maintenance crew member, identified locally as Ravi Subramanium, was sucked into the engine and in the horrifying incident. The plane was full of passengers for a short-haul flight from Mumbai to the southeastern city of Hyderabad.17 Dec 2015
The wing span of the 747 is longer than the first Wright brothers flight.
Imao Congrats Dude Ur Comment Got Pinned
i can also name a fact of the 747.............i have never been on one
@@MrIps700 That's a shame. Espically given the speed at which they are being phased out.
@@MrIps700 same 😢😓
i live in perth. the viewing deck is based on the wright brothers first flight. i remember watching VH-OEI land in 2018 and my eight-year-old self thinking 'why is the plane so big' rip 747
Very Special indeed. Indeed.
My 747 fact is that its the best aircraft ever built period
You brought back so many memories! The end of 747's marks the end of that 'romantic' style of flying.
Definitely you show what makes Qantas special. I look forward to flying with them. Love your Vlogs and reviews Josh. Thanks!
It was a pleasure to watch your presentation. You do it well. Calm, mellow voice and you don't veer from the facts, well done.
Queen of the sky 747 ... Thanks for this amazing vlog ...

always loved the 747 , last time I was on one , delta from Detroit to Tokyo , just a few years ago
Great review as always!
747 fact: upper deck was designed as such because designers thought that supersonic aircrafts would soon become the new queen of the sky. it was designed to easily convert 747s to cargo planes.. 😊
Fun fact: the Qantas 747-438ER (extended range) even has a fuel tank in the tail where the rudder is (behind the big Kangaroo)!
747 fact: the windows on the flight deck are transparent so that pilots can see outside.
Absolutely love your videos! Not going to lie I’m jealous that your flying on queen of the skies my favourite aircraft. 👍👍
Thanks Josh- another great vlog - appreciated !!!
❤️❤️❤️ Qantas ... their First Class service is wonderful and the miles bonus is 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
*bussines
Qantas has never lost a passenger! 🙏🙏 🤞🎖🤞
Great video yet again! Perhaps my favorite aircraft.
Fact: The 747 is capable of caring a spare engine, mounted between engine #2 and the frame. Often the plane would have to refuel due to the extra drag.
@the global peasant Qantas done that on a flight to Johannesburg to replace another 747’s engine.
the bird your flying is the B747-400 ER delivered to Qantas Airways brand new some time in 2001-2002!!!
the 747-400/er has a larger nose wheel than all the other 747 varients, has a blue rim to to notify tugs its larger, this is for the extra fuel tank under the nose gear - making it the 400/ER Passenger Variant, developed bespoke for Qantas - that the best i got!
Loved it brought back so many good memories of the 747 it still has a presence when it is at the airport.
An employee told me (long time ago!) that Qantas maintain all their aircraft in Sydney, so if a 747 had various engine problems, they could fly it back to Sydney from anywhere with min 2 engines! Ryan Keller Yes it’s absolutely true.

I think qantas Sydney - Vancouver in season is a little bit longer, still on the B747
I reckon Qantas has the worst business class product of any airline flying out of Australia.
I can’t believe you went with a tomato based soup while wearing a white hoodie, a brave man!
love qantas,very good arlinesse
i like that the subtitles say 'the queen of the sky' as 'the queen of disguise'
🇦🇺✈💚airlines I love 🇦🇺when I visited long time ago.
I don’t have a specific 747 fact but when I was a kid I went on my first 747 which also happened to be the first Air Pacific (now Fiji airways) between Sydney and Nadi back in 2003.

Nice video! I love the 747!! One fact is that Qantas use to have shaving booths on their 747’s!

The first Boeing 747-238B aircraft went into service in September 1971. The oldest qantas 747-400 was VH-OJM flew it’s final flight as QF73 from Sydney to San Francisco.
Wow lucky you sitting next to the world known tennis coach, I'm both airplane fan and tennis fan and totally I wish I was there too XD
My first flight on a 747-100 was in the 70s. When air was clean and s.. was dirty.
Bro, you rock!
Fantasti mind blowing superb video 👌👌👍👍
enjoyable as ever thank You
Qantas once operated an entire fleet of 747s. I think about 50
57 more specifically
Such a fun exercise to give tribute to the amazing queen of the sky! Fun fact: did you know... The Wright brothers could have fit their historic first flight inside a 747. It’s like WOW😍✈️🛫 queen of the sky, still my fav❣️
One more thing the B747-400 ER is some of the last B747-400 series built before they introduced the B747-8I
Great yet again
The 787 is nice, but will never have the grace, class, reliability, and nobility like the Queen of the Skies
When the 747 was originally introduced Boeing wanted to make a converted freighter version that carried bombs and missiles for the military. It was either used as a flying transporter or the largest bomber with a conveyor belt to release the bombs.
WeLcome to, India!

Amazing flight 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Awesome Video
Pan Am was the launch customer of the 747
747-8 is frequently used by Lufthansa.
The B747 used to do a longer flight for Qantas which I flew in 2012, it used to go from Dallas to Brisbane Australia and then to Sydney, this was before the SYD-DFW flight on the A380, now Brisbane can no longer fly direct to Dallas!
The 747 has flown over 3.5 billon people.
Josh! Are you related to Darren Cahill? LOL another amazing video
The 747 will always have a special place in my heart and am a little saddened that this airframe will one day cease to operate pax flights. Another great video! Can we swap lives?
Cool traveller
We (Air Atlanta Icelandic Airline) still fly Boeing 747-400 passenger aircraft.
The 747 changed air travel forever and made air travel accessible and affordable.
Northwest Airlines was the launch customer for the 747-400!
Omg Josh can you upload a video about Ethaid Residence?
Hi josh nice vid. Can you do one on qatar airways economy
My uncle, Kenneth Holtby, designed the 747.
Good luck

Floor space on the upper deck of a 747 is more than the floor space of an entire 737 (I have heard).
Fantastic video as always! A little question, where did you get that laptop sticker at 1:55 ? Would love to get one for my macbook :)
Looked a lot more like the BA lounge!
have you reviewed Qantas 787 Dreamliner Business Class yet?
OMG!!!What an amazing video it was.I absolutely loved it!You are making some really great Flight Review's and that's awesome!!Keep Up The Good Work!!😁😁😆😆😆😄
if my memory serves me right then the longest B747 flight was from JFK to HK!!!
747 is a 4 engine powered aircraft which is made by Boeing company and it is the first double-deck aircraft in the world and it is having above 500+ passenger capacity. ;)
Great video again. Thanks for sharing!!
By the way, are you related to Darren CAHILL? 😊👍

The 747's wings are the width of 2 football pitches and the engine produce 15 thousand pounds of thrust each!
2:10 made me instantaneously like the video
Wo kommst du her?
Best 747 fact: If the wing fuel tanks had no fuel in them on take off the wings would snap off.
Australia is your home country sir??
Did you ever talk to that tennis star
The Best Fact about the Boeing 747 is that it's The Queen 👑 Of The Skies!!!
I thought the longest non-stop scheduled 747 flight was JFK-HKG, operated by UA... am I right?
Where was Simona? :D
haha of course ;)
747 fact, it operates the longest domestic flight in the world, Melbourne to the Antarctic and return.
Ver y cool
Oh! I hate Qantas so much! For having given up almost all direct flights to Europe. And for joining Emirates as a codeshare partner.

No its actually pretty good Man!
Well actually who knows about the ratings you might be correct! LOL
No offence but Air India is actually a nice airline. I've never had a bad experience with them just great flights and even nice service.
The top deck of the 747 has the same square footage as the 737
Josh I absolutely love your videos. Keep on the great work !!!! All the best from Tel Aviv, Israel. P.S. - We would love to have you here and show you around.
A total of 1081 747's have been built.
747 fact : it was the first ever widebody built and first widebody to reach 1000 deliveries
Sam chui was on this flight
747 fact: A pilot misinterpreted a signal and switched on the plane's engine.
