Thanks for the great reaction. I am so happy that you enjoyed it as much as you did, been wanting you to hear it for a long time. I have always loved the instrumentation and harmonies in this song. The guitar and bass solos are so good. The bridge is a little cheesy but they make up for it with taste. The mix is so nice with the strings and the flute. The bass player was George McArdle he is very versatile. I scratched up my version of the album learning that bass solo. The band I was in never learned the song because we couldn’t pull off the harmonies, oh well 🙄! Anxious to hear more great reactions from you. You are the best.

The bridge is cheese? I hope it's tasty cheese - oh wait, you kinda say it by saying they make up for it with taste, lol (joking) Honestly I personally think the entire song is perfection.

    It’s a long way there.
This song contains a guitar solo that is worthy of being in the top 20 of all time, and I am not exaggerating on that. You’ll never forget it and you will replay it I promise.
I saw the little river band in 1976 at royals stadium in Kansas City. It was my first concert along with climax, blues band, Black Oak, Arkansas Ario Speedwagon, and the headliner was Ted Nugent, who played so loud he could be heard over 10 miles away and was banned from playing there for several years. I couldn’t hear for three days.

You should try Bob James IV, any track. I like 'Where the Wind Blows'. Also, try 'Chain Reaction' by The Crusaders. You'll not regret it.

Beeb Birtles on lead vocals here.....and LRB's harmonising and musicianship is second to none. This is such a beautiful song.....which develops into a sublime funky cruise.
Just a side note Nick and Lex.....please DO NOT go and see the band currently touring America as the Little River Band.....they are a bunch of second class frauds. None are Australian, none are original members, they are no better than a cover band getting rich off the original members talent and toil. Real Australian LRB fans hate what has happened to this band....the current line up will never tour here because NO ONE would go and see them.....and they know why.

So excited to see you guys have discovered my all time favorite song "Light of Day". The original Little River Band members are so outstanding. Beeb Birtles, Graham Goble and Glen Shorrock on the vocals and David Briggs, Derek P., and George Mc. on lead guitar, drums and bass respectively. As a disc-jockey back in that day I closed out each night's show with this song each late evening! You did wonderful to cover it here. You won't hear this from the current band that tours now and claims the name but none of which are original members. They are basically a cover or tribute band almost at this point and don't carry the magic that the original members had. Nor did they have anything to do with writing those great songs they are performing. Sleeper Catcher was my favorite album of all time as well. Great job on this one you guys!

This was a really lovely song. I know they are an Australian band who made it pretty big in the US, but I don't think they were particularly successful in the UK. Perhaps fellow UK commenters can correct me if I'm wrong. I certainly haven't heard their music before, but it feels like I've missed out on something good!

They are a scam. Not one of them original and not one of them aussies. The original band members got cheated out of their own heritage.

Hi Debra, it’s hard not to like the bass solo. I always thought the bridge on this song is a little cheesy. Hope you had a good summer.

I've never heard this song before. It's very pleasant, and I enjoyed it on a surface level, but I didn't find it particularly challenging or original. A bit too easy listening for my taste ...and, even tho I love Yes, Rush and Zeppelin, I'm also a guy who loves Bread, America and Carpenters.
I love that you two love the song, but I don't think it's even on the same level as a mediocre Steely Dan song. It is pleasant, tho.

This is nice…I thought I knew all the LRD songs. There are much better ones than this though….they had a lot of big hits in Australia….I don’t recall this at all, so assume it was not big….though nice….but some of their songs are ‘spectacular’…..

The Lyrics are telling us to 'Believe in Jesus' (The Light of Day).
They see people walking around blind because they don't see the reality of Jesus.
They take no heed of what they can learn - instead, they are just running in circles without purpose.
They head for a door that reads 'Escape', trying to find anything they can take to fill the void of emptiness.
Lonesome nights and wasted days leads men from the 'True Ways' that God created them for.
Yet he insists "He's nobodies fool" when that's exactly what he is - a fool.
To 'Dig the Dance' is to walk in newness of the Holy Spirit. To 'Take a Chance' on that which we can't see with the natural eye and into the 'Spirit Realm'
Hear the chorus as if Jesus is actually calling out to YOU! "Hey Boy! or 'Hey Girl! - Come out and join in the Dance with Me."
Finally - I think the 'Sandman of Time' is a personification of death. We need to consider that this life is not forever and a day will come when we will stand before the Living God to be judged. Will you be found in the Grace of Jesus? This can only be accessed by Faith.
Salvation and Eternal Life is found no other way except by His Grace.
