Large Earwax Removal | Cerumen Impaction & Ear Irrigation

In this video I remove a large piece of ear wax from the ear canal that has likely been accumulating for a long time. He was complaining of decreased hearing and some itchiness in the canal and when I took a look with my otoscope I could see there was a significant amount of ear wax occluding the ear canal. Ear wax should not be removed unless it is causing bothersome symptoms such as decreased hearing, itchiness, dizziness, pain, etc.
Flushing out ear wax is one of my favorite procedures to do as a nurse practitioner. It is a simple task but very effective at relieving symptoms when the ear wax is removed and the patient is always so grateful to be able to hear again.
