- Part II. Our friend here called us for an appointment saying that when he put the slightest pressure on his ear, it "closed up completely." Yikes.
After we were done, he said he hadn't realized how "heavy" his hearing was until we cleared out both ears.
Earwax removal to the rescue with our trusty Earigator. Hearing again never felt so good.

Im 26 now and still have to go every once in a while because the grip caused damage that makes my ear block up faster now.
My ears are super waxy. So I let the shower water do this when I shower. Had a doctor tell me to do this since I used to get super impacted wax because of wearing earplugs at work. It truly does help!
how do you do it? with shower head directly towards your ear?
@@evaandeva Yep. Tilt your head to the side and let the water hit your ear. It will rinse out. If the water doesn't drip right away when tilting the opposite side then that means there is hard wax in there trapping the water

@evaandeva that's exactly how I do it. I always tilt my head with my ear aimed at the bottom of the shower and just hold the stream at my ear. I have a condition in which I develop a lot of ear wax. It all builds up and my ear canals have a lot of trouble clearing it out. Because of this I have to go to my local clinic to do this kind of ear blasting with water kind of thing quite frequently. I usually go once or twice every month. They eventually started giving me coupons 😄
Mind sharing what the condition is called, if you know? I have the same issue and used to go for a similar treatment as a teenager (except the doctor used something like a mini vacuum that was extremely uncomfortable) and I was told I produce a lot of wax that gets compacted easily.
So this is just for the people who have a lot of earwax that produce in the ear?
You can do this with a bulb syringe at home. Warm water in a cup. Over your sink, or in the shower. I do it every couple months. It’s a great feeling.
I mix a bit of hydrogen peroxide in the warm water. Then distilled water on syringe
@@megusta9045Yep, hydrogen peroxide is what actually cleans the ear. I do a cap of 3% and a cap of water in a shot glass and then get a small syringe and pull 1ml out of it, and do that once or twice per ear when I feel my ear is producing excess and I get that "fluid in ear" itchy feeling.
Use cold water for an interesting effect
You do want to use distilled water, otherwise it could cause an infection
@@PsylomeAlphayour earcanal is pretty safe from getting an infection like that. Distilled water is a bit overkill.
So glad for this patient that they used warm water for the ear flushing. Too hot or too cold water can cause nausea and ear pain. I took a trip to the ER for ear pain and hearing loss. As suspected, it was earwax impaction. They, unfortunately, used cold water and a needle-like tip (guessing it was to get behind the blockage and flush it out). The pressure used was very uncomfortable and made me dizzy enough to need 3 breaks (to wash both ears because, well, in for a penny). I vomited from nausea a couple mins after leaving the ER, was nauseated for 2 days and suffered a migraine for 3 days due to sensory overload.
I can understand the ER gets busy and time is limited, but even the info sheet they gave me on discharge said to use warm water only 😓
I can remember once when I was around 9 years old walking home from my cousins house and seeing leaves falling off trees during fall then feeling a sharp pain in my ear, after a few days the pain kept getting worse so I went to the doctor and had this done. An entire leaf somehow flew directly into my ear

I had issues with one ear for the longest time. I procrastinated until it started to ache. I finally went to urgent care and the nurse was awesome. I was in a lot of pain so she gave me pain reliever and was very gentle and patient while irrigating it. When I tell you to impaction that kept coming out was yucky 🤮 and satisfying 😌 at the same time, ooo weeee!!! I bought one of those and use it a couple of times a month. No more issues here!
*"Earigator"*
What a name :')
Went into urgent care for something like this once and it was absolutely awful. They tried a little pick, they tried water. It took 10 minutes and two people trying. The water like this can be painfully loud. This guy doesnt seem too uncomfortable which is great!!
my ears make a good amount of earwax and I once pushed it deeper by mistake and had to go to the doctors to get it removed. Both times I've gone its 2 nurses blasting my ear over and over trying to get it 😂 its always uncomfortable and disorienting but being able to hear after is very much worth it. I wish they had the relaxing little water tool like in this vid lol
My doctor didn't have a fancy squirt gun, she used a 3-liter syringe and shower-hot water. Got a wax ball the size of a marble out of there.
Adding “earigator” to my Amazon wishlist 😂
Had this done twice at a clinic first time there was so much wax that came out shit was soothing asf felt insane unblocked and i could hear everything
Due to just how my ears are sensitive and how I think I was born I have to somewhat do this on a semi-frequent basis but honestly every time it’s extremely comforting to know that I can hear properly again
if you have a perforation in your eardrum, flushing can be dangerous due to pushing water and bacteria into the middle ear.
This procedure of water flushing should only be performed by a competent audiologist or ENT.
The warm water feels awesome, and then you can hear, I have had this problem 50+ years
I got the first build up of my life, i usually never have much wax but i guess it caught me. It felt so good when that little ball came out. 😂

i got both of my ear cleansed from those wax buildups and i regained full hearing a week after, it still hurted and was red even tho nothing was here anymore
I had to put droplets of antibiotics for possible infections too

How does a ear get so filthy
It's ear wax, not filth.
@@erinmckee8908 the last time I had my ears examined they were described as “clean” you may use any adjective you want to describe lack of hygiene or dirty. This is why the manufacturer “Q Tips”.
In addition if you have an overabundance of earwax there are commercially available systems to remedy this problem without seeing a doctor. There are body processes that ignored long enough will become infected. My adjective for the lack of attention crating a problem is filthy.
Q-tips. Ur ear is naturally self cleaning. Q-tips push the wax further in and clogs it. Dont use them. Even on the Q-tips box it says that its not to be used in ears
They have done studies with people who use Q tips on their ears & have controls who don’t & unanimously the Q tip cleaned ears looked great & didn’t have any impacting of the wax when the people who didn’t all had tons of wax, to the point where it was starting to close up on a couple of people. Q Tip puts that on the box so dumb people don’t go shoving it in & perforating their eardrum for liability reasons but they all know what it’s mainly used for.
It's fine if you don't know what you're talking about, but make sure to use this opportunity to learn. Personally, I have ears that generate a TON of wax. Just a few weeks I can have a result similar to this if I slack on cleaning them. It will nearly deafen me and cause nasty infections, which of course cause even more wax build-up.

Dude is now going to listen to my thoughts
I need this SO bad, how do i ask my dr for this?
Ive had buildup so many times since I dont have a proper way to take care of earwax, but looking into at-home options to take care of this has been a nightmare. I dread cleaning though cus it is real fuckin loud and disorienting.
I really suggest before any harsh cleaning of this type trying with ear oil, they sell it at pharmacies. You should also do it before this type of treatmeant so any bloackage is soft and comes out smoothly instead of “exploding” outward. I do it for 10/20 days at night before sleep when I have build up/feel the need. It’s so much better for the sensitive inside of the ear.
Audiology/Hearing Clinics are a better option
Ive bought myself a cheap odoscope with camera that connects to my phone. So I can check my ears and scrape some wax out myself or go to a doc if it looks to hard to do it myself
It's so easy. A cap full of 3% hydrogen peroxide and a cap full of warm water into something like a shot glass to pull out easy, get a small syringe (I use a 5ml one) and pull 1ml out of it and put that into my ear. Wait till the peroxide reaction slows way down, drain with half a cotton ball, and do it again. Repeat on other ear. Then I would use an actual ear cleaning syringe (20ml) and flush my ears out with warm water until I feel I got everything out, maybe 2-3 good times. I would ideally do that probably every 6 weeks.
Try glicerin and hydrogen peroxide, just a few drops of each will do the trick
I had that done before to one ear. Amazing the difference in clarity. The sounds in the other ear sounded so dull in comparison.
One of the best things to come outta New Jersey, wish I could make the trip.

Bro had his own potato farm in there
After they are done, I wonder if sounds are super loud, like they have been hearing through a blockage.
Only for a little while then it sounds normal.😊
Do I have to do this if I have no hearing problems?
No. But next time you see a doctor, you could ask them to take a look to see if there is any build up of wax.
Thank you!

You're supposed to rinse your ears out when you shower. Just cup some water into your ear with your hand and hold your head sideways. Do this two-three times on each side. The warm water helps break up dried ear wax.
When you're drying off, use a towel to clean up the outer ear and a Q-tip to clean the inside.
Weird how many parents just don't teach their kids to do this.

I’ve had problems with my ear ever so I had that done when I was younger now I can’t get any water in it or I go deaf and it hurts and then if I blow my nose when my ear is bad it’s 90% I’ll get a nose bleed as well 😢 so if my ear ever gets badly clogged again I’m definitely not getting it flushed out
