    I picked up this machine direct from their website 2 months ago. Just made time to use it a week ago for a project, and it's been a complete nightmare. Customer service was great with my MIG 205DS, garbage on this machine. It wouldn't turn on - I pulled off the shroud and found one of the switch wires disconnected, lying down below. Connected it, found the screw that was rattling around loose in the shell. This was alarming, as it's easy to short a supercapacitor bank with a loose brass screw, especially given the abuse encountered by most packages during shipping. Found where the screw attached - smack in the middle of the main board, but the screw was stripped. Replaced screw. Found the line out of the air solenoid was loose at the front connection. Tightened that up. Reassembled and tested the switch - great, it turned on. Not great- went to test it, nothing happens. Nothing registers on the air gauge, when trigger is depressed the weakest, sad feeble little sputtering ensues from the tip - just all bad. So now I can troubleshoot and fix their machine, or attempt to do so, or get a refund. I'm an affiliate for YesWelder also, which is the saddest part. Tech Support has been garbage all week - requests for videos as to whether or not the machine has power to it..... I love the welder, but my experience with the plaz cutter has been complete garbage. Either I got the only bunk machine in the factory or people aren't posting their issues, because it's been trash from day one and I can't find others with similar issues. Glad your machine works and setup went well, but my review will be quite the opposite - in depth and detailed as to how little concern they lend to customer service, safety, and support. Either it's consistent or it's not - a machine by machine support system should be conclusive, not this BS I've received so far from YesWelder. Very disappointed atm, and upset.

      Sorry to hear about the trouble with the 55DS. I have had great luck with everything I have gotten from them. I did have a friend that had a bad Tig and he did have to send a video of what it was doing and explain the problem and after a few emails they sent him a new machine. If you take the time to explain everything, they will take care of you. Is it instantaneous, no it’s not. ☹️

    • @neonsynth
      @neonsynth Год назад

      @@PranaTech I've send them 9 videos over the course of the last week and a half, painstakingly showing and demonstrating to them the issues and their response continues to be " please check that power is at the machine." How many times and ways can you show something so basic? I've taken a great deal of time and patience to explain my issues to them. And have done a substantial amount of research since on the company, and it turns out that the Teal colored series of Cut 55DS plasma cutters have multiple issues, some quite significant, that they KNOW about and have admitted to knowing, yet they continue to ship them and slow-walk customer support when surprise- the machine doesn't function. I love my MIG 205DS - it's a workhorse, and the support for it has been fantastic. It has been an entirely different experience for the 55DS and I can't help but think that this act is completely intentional, especially when comparing the two experiences as they've occured within a month of each other.

    • @neonsynth
      @neonsynth Год назад

      @@PranaTech I like their MIG so much that I contacted them and become an affiliate, then ordered the Cut 55DS direct from them, much to my chagrin now. Had I ordered it from Amazon like my MIG 205DS, I could've had my money back and moved on by now. Extremely disappointed by this intentional act on their part, and their obstinate refusal to fix the garbage series and then CONTINUE to ship them. That's absolutely no way to run a company. I own two businesses, and they are wasting my time.

    • @PranaTech
      @PranaTech  4 года назад

      Hi there, honestly, I think they are probably the same machine on the inside. The features are pretty much identical and they are both dual input voltage cutters and pilot arc models. I’ve had great luck with the YesWelder products. I’ve never owned anything from Amico but their cut capabilities are surely overstated. There is no way that a 50amp plasma cutter is going to clean cut 3/4 or 4/5 of an inch steel. The Yeswelder is 55amps and they rate it at clean cut of ½ an inch. This is more realistic. So as long as you understand this, it probably doesn’t matter which one you buy.👍😀Don

      Good morning, ok, so I don’t know what the minimum would be for this plasma cutter but I am running a 3 HP twin cylinder compressor that puts out 11 CFM @ 90 PSI. It has a 30 gallon tank and I would consider that tank size to be a minimum to help buffer the air use during the recharge cycle. Just bought this cutter and tried my first cuts based your excellent video and chart. Thanks!
    Some questions:
    1. You note a maximum of 72psi for this unit. Is that while static or while the air is running through the torch? (Obviously, the pressure drops about 10psi while running.)
    2. How much variance from your table suggestions do you experience between softer and harder materials? Do you just compensate with cutting speed? (I'm just watching the sparks to assess how fast to cut.)
    3. Have you determined what the three LEDs on the top-right of the panel are for? Mine are unlabeled although they are depicted with labels in the company's product photos.

    • @PranaTech
      @PranaTech  3 года назад

      Hi Michael, 1. 72 static pressure. You just don’t want to go above that. I rarely go above 60psi. 2. The table is for steel. Softer metals will allow lower amperage or faster cutting speeds. 3. Hi Russ, sorry for the delay, I was out welding in my shop😀. So some plasma cutters get a little haywire when using with perforated metals and they sometimes don’t like shooting plasma out into space. I haven’t used mine with perforated steel yet, but the nozzle shouldn’t touch the metal and should be kept up about 1-2mm above the metal when cutting. Also, make sure you are on a 20 Amp circuit when you are cutting. 110v can usually only handle about 30-35 amps on a 20amp breaker circuit. If it’s only a 15 amp circuit, the smaller wire may be causing a choking effect on the amperage draw to the unit. Usually shutting the unit off and back on will reset the board. I think it is just a fault indicator. It should reset by shutting it down and restarting.

    Can someone please answer this. my compressor has an output of 155 PSI. I have it on 130 and I'm only getting 60 at the plazma cutter air gauge. the regulator on plazma is maxed out. I'm using 1/4-in hose ,1/4" connectors & 50 ' of hose.. Today I changed hose & connectors to 3/8" 25' . It made no difference.. I set the compressor at 140 PSI and the plasma cutter would only max out at 70. with both 1/4" & 3/8". why am I getting half of what the regulator on the compressor is showing... replies will be greatly appreciated thank you in advance

      Hi Chilll, I would put a gauge on a quick disconnect at the end of your air hose. This will determine which of the regulators is reading wrong. My guess is the one for the plasma cutter is off because mine is kinda cheaply built, but it could be either one. Once you know you can adjust the regulator accordingly or replace it. 😊👍

      @@PranaTech thank you I'm really starting to think the gauge on a plasma cutter is wrong because on the plazma counter gauge I'm at 40 PSI meanwhile I had at least 80 going in.. & I was able to cut 3/8" clean @ 45 amps....I really appreciate it.. also by the way they sent me the newer version which does not show the air pressure at all unless you pull the trigger or press the button on the display panel also the power cord is at the top right not underneath the regulator.

    Just Returned mine yesterday, thank goodness I got it from Amazon. What a piece of Junk, It wouldn’t start an arc 80% of the time ,and it is only a 39 amp unit at 240V but they call it a 55in the name CUT55DS also try to call there Help # because it’s not there . When you email there tec support at least they answer but only in the middle of the night because there obviously in China. First they have to run your email through a translation program and then get back to you. They may very well be very good techsupport but it’s easier to communicate with my 2yr. old granddaughter than a person using translation programs

    Dan, I noticed you did get a pressure on your gauge. Unfortunately, mine does not and if you tried to set it when you pull the trigger, you would never be able to get the pressure as it acts like an open port. I have to set the pressure with a gauge on the regulator and the on board gaige has no relation to reality. I have contacted YES as other folks have reported this issue but with no response. I wanted a pneumatic diagram for the correct reading/plumbing as the instrument gauge is worthless. I know you have done a lot with YES and maybe you have heard or seen this problem, TIA.

      Hi Cress, to be honest, I don’t remember getting a reading on my gauge on the front of the machine. I was always looking down cutting and can’t seem to find a point in my video where I could see that reading.🤔 I always just adjust my pressure at the regulator at the back of the machine and then get to cutting. Hope this helps. I will check it though next time I cut with it just to see for myself. I’ve got to cut some square plates next week so I will know soon.😁👍

      @@PranaTech I have the same problem as CM, no pressure shown on the front panel gauge when the machine is powered up. Your video clearly shows the pressure gauge on the front panel indicating a PSI reading (around the 23:00 mark). I've exchanged numerous emails with YW on the but still no joy. So, sorry to say that, at this point, I have no way to adjust my PSI prior to cutting.

      Hi Mike! So I realized that I never posted my response to CM about my findings. When I power up my machine and hook up the air, I definitely have an accurate pressure readout on the gauge on the front of the machine. Hope this helps! 👍Don

      @@PranaTech Thanks for the quick reply. I received another somewhat cryptic response to my daily email exchange YW tech support regarding the fact the gauge on my panel doesn't register any PSI when powered up and idle. Today I broke down and called their tech support and was finally told point blank that my the PSI gauge on that (my) "batch" of DS55s DOES NOT WORK. It looks like my only option is to install a separate gauge on the rear of my machine. Very disappointed but at least now I know. Thanks for the video and the help!

    I'm confused the first time you mention air pressure you're talking 90 pounds. But then the second time you talk about air pressure you talk about setting it at 60 and that the machine is top-rated at 72 pounds.

      Hi there! Sorry about any confusion with the settings. I set my compressor at 90psi and the regulator on the plasma at 60-65 psi because the max is 72psi. Hope this helps.😊👍

    I've tried cutting 1/2 with my new cut 55ds well it ain't happening it severed it but there was nothing clean about it wasn't even close to square. I also ordered 250 amp tig welder haven't got it yet .I'll be cancelling that order. If specs are this far off on this machine what's the tig welders short comings. Thought it was kinda funny you had to use 55 amps for 1/4 in vastly overrated. Think its 35 amps max output POS GOING BACK

    • @PranaTech
      @PranaTech  4 года назад +1

      Hi Jeff, sorry you were disappointed with your cut55. If you are going to be cutting ½” steel regularly you will need an 80 amp or larger plasma cutter. It’s pretty standard in the plasma cutting world that the upper ratings for the machine are for severance of the metal only so you always need to go over on your ratings to get the plasma cutter that will cut accurately at the thickness you need.👍😀
