Those are huge glasses. I'm glad you showed that you can wear them under the helmet no problem. Thanks for the review. That really helps.
Dick 😂😂😂😂😂
@@jakerooz9313 I wear glasses too!
Hello I used the yeswelder helmet and its amazing how clearly you can see when welding wow im glad I got it and thank you once again 👍
Hey, that’s great! I’m glad you like it. I agree and I don’t think I can go back to the old green lens ones after using this true color technology. 😁👍
You convinced me to buy one and give it a try! Thanks for the thoughtful informative review....I cant await to try it.
Thanks for your nice comments! I appreciate it. They really are great helmets. 👍
The knob on the left side is for shade right? Not darkness control like you said.
Hi Dave! The knob on the side is for shade level 9-13. I just call it darkness control because some people don’t know what that term means. Have a great day!😁👍
@@PranaTech Thank you!!
@@PranaTech Thus why I asked ruclips.net/video/kbrCFokmjIA/видео.html
My new LYD-Q800D helmet arrived today, and I can finally see what I'm doing. Thank you so much!
Hi Dave! I’m glad to hear that you are enjoying it! It really does make a difference when you can see what is happening. Enjoy! Don😊👍
Well ya sold me! I'm gonna get one. Great review. VERY well done. Thank you.
Thanks! I’m sure you’ll like it. It really has improved my welding due to being able to see everything so much better!😊👍
Thank you so much - Well done video! I just ordered this helmet!
I am really excited about SEEING so much more, with the added bonus of LEAVING MY GLASSES ON -- which I cannot easily do with my current helmet. I've had a Miller ProHobby autodarkening helmet for many years - and it has been 100% reliable - BUT this Yeswelder Q800D is gonna be a great improvement in pure visibility, viewing area, and convenience with my glasses. Thanks again.
PS: I am really impressed with this Yeswelder company. I got their 250P AC/DC TIG welder not long ago and am nothing but impressed at the value of their products and customer service.
Thumbs UP and SUBSCRIBED!
Great videos, thanks!
Hey, I have the same helmet… what are good settings where I can see what im doing?
Hi there! I set mine at the lowest setting of 9 for Tig welding and for mig welding I use 10 to 11 depending on the amperage I’m welding at.👍😊
Thank you for the great review! I've been looking at hoods all day and for the past couple months on which one I want to get for work and you just helped me make that decision. Once again thank you for the great review and I hope your channel succeeds in making you prosperous cuz you're good at it!
Thanks Dillon! I really appreciate your kind words my brother! 🙏😊These hoods have really improved my welding and helped me see so much better! 👍
I need this helmet. Thanks for the info and taking time to make the video.
You are very welcome! 😁👍
Hello I just ordered my on Amazon getting it on Sunday lets see how it works for me and thanks for the video it help to make my decision to buy this one 👍
Hello
I got the same Helmet and still can't find a good setting for Tig welding...
Can't see where im going to...
What setting your on ??
Thanks in advance
Hi Josef! Ok, for Tig welding I set mine to 9 or 10 on the darkness setting and I have the speed of delay set at minimum. Sensitive I have turned up to about 3/4 towards max when I’m indoors. I hope this helps! 👍😊
I've never heard of Yes Welders before, but after seeing a lot of reviews on the new clear view full colour type helmets I browsed EBAY and decided on one I thought would fit the bill........Yes Welders model LYG-800 HP going at A$93.00 coming on 24th June......the lens is huge with a view area of 100mm X 93mm.....no side windows and has outside setting knobs.
Long story short.....I bought a cold welder and have difficulty seeing the tungsten tip through the old auto helmet I have which has the murky green lens when clear and this leads to constant dipping in the muck.....I'm not a welder at all and only do it for fun but have previously in another life done welding in industry on and off over the last 60 years or so.......now I have a definite need for Tig welding and some projects that need a steady hand and eye.
Hi Ian, that’s great! You will really like that helmet. Being able to see what you’re welding is so much better!😁👍
The outside brightness feature is great until you're welding in a confined area and bump your head on something, thus turning the brightness way down and get arc flashed.
Hi Doug, I’ve never had that happen but that would be a bummer. Occasionally I get flashed when Tig welding hot rolled steel that isn’t super clean. I thought it was the helmet, but it happens with all my helmets and after doing research it comes from dirty steel and the weld burns like a supernova for a second. It really stinks to get flashed!😬
I was really impressed when I got this helmet the other day. Super excited to get to work on Monday and really try it out.... but now I'm quarantined.... fkn covid exposure.
Bummer! ☹️
Exposure to the phantom virus
I'm waiting on mine to get delivered. Lincoln viking was $300, yeswelder true view $80. I'm sure the Lincoln is all around better but I'm stoked to see this thing in action
I’m so spoiled now because of this helmet! When I’m at someone else’s shop and borrow their helmet, it feel like I’m welding in the dark and can barely see.😊
Does the brightness of this helmet have any side effect on eye sight?
Hi Cris, I haven’t noticed any side affects at all. No bright spots when I close my eyes after welding and no eye fatigue at all. The thing I’ve noticed is an improvement in my weld quality from being able to see better. 😊👍
I have this helmet. It is a very good helmet. The visibility is really very good. The price is very reasonable. Overall I am happy with mine.
Thanks Dave! I love mine! It has really helped my welding quality now that I can see.😊👍
Great review
Thank you! 😊🙏
how is it for eye strain, I use miller digital elite that one i can weld all day long with, have a lincoln viking its nice but the blue kind of gives me eye strain , wondering how this one feels at the end of the day
Hi there, I find that it is very similar in color to the my Viking helmet. It doesn’t have the optical clarity that the Viking has, but it is a great helmet for quick jobs around the shop. When I’m going to be welding for long periods, I grab the Viking. If your Viking helmet bothers you, I would probably not get the Yeswelder helmet.😊👍
THANKS FOR POSTING THE YES HELMET, I'D LIKE TO CHECK THAT OUT. WOULD THERE BE ANY CHANCE OF REVIEWING THE NEW AHP ALPHA MIG190? SEEMS LIKE A NICE LITTLE UNIT WITH A HIGH FREQ START
Hi Thomas! Thanks for your comment! I don’t solicit companies to do reviews of their welders, but if they contact me I would certainly be happy to review one. For what it is worth, I use to own an AHP 201XD Tig and it was a great machine! I learned to weld aluminum on that machine and it was a great welder. They build very high quality welding equipment! I sold that Tig only because I needed more amperage. I now have an Everlast 325 amp Tig and it works phenomenal! From what I understand Everlast is the parent company for AHP. 😊👍
@@PranaTech THAT'S FUNNY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHICH COMPANY OWNS WHAT. WOULD YOU KNOW IIF THAT YES HELMET USES A COMMON TYPE CHEATER LENS? THINKING ABOUT THIS OR THE NEW MILLER HELMET.
Hi Thomas, I tried using cheater lenses once and didn’t like them because they limited my view to only where the lens was. I then switched to just wearing reading glasses with about 2.5x and have liked that option better because wherever I look, I get the magnified view. I haven’t used the new miller helmet yet but theirs are always great. I use a Lincoln Viking 3350 for all my Tig welding because it has the brightest and clearest view out of any helmet I’ve ever tested. As my eyes get older, I need all the help I can get. I use the Yeswelder helmet for all my mig welding and it works great for that. 😊👍
@@PranaTech JUST CHECKED OUT A COUPLE REVIEWS ON THAT LINCOLN HELMET, GUESS I'LL HAVE TO ADD THAT TO THE LIST AS WELL, LOOKS LIKE A NICE UNIT WITH GREAT HEADGEAR
I had switched my headgear out on the Yeswelder to the Miller headgear and it fit perfectly. It was a great upgrade. Then I bought the Lincoln helmet and I couldn’t believe how comfortable it was. I can wear that helmet for hours and it stays comfortable. I love it so much that I bought a Lincoln Viking headgear for the Yeswelder helmet and swapped it out for the Miller.
😊👍
Thanks I needed this video
You are very welcome!😊
Update please. I’ve read that people have experienced flashes and back straps have issues with adjustment
Good morning! Ok, I’ve been running these helmets for quite a while and I will give you my experience. The headgear is junk. Mine stopped working after 4 months when the back ratchet failed and wouldn’t stay tight anymore. I first replaced it with a miller set and it was better but recently I replaced it with a Lincoln Viking X6 set and it is amazing now. It installs with no modifications at all.👍 Ok, flashing. The only time that I have ever been flashed is when Tig welding thin steel at low amperage’s. It has only occurred once in a while and I always attributed it to dirty materials or me not having the arc sensors clear to the welding arc(ie: my hands or torch in the way so the sensors are blocked from seeing the arc). I will say that it never happens when welding aluminum. It annoyed me enough to purchase a Lincoln Viking helmet to have for Tig welding specifically. I spent $345 for what I consider the finest helmet on the market only to still be flashed occasionally. 🙁 After a lot of research on this subject and paying attention to when the flashing happens, I’ve determined that it only happens when I get my weld puddle too hot with carbon steel and with stainless steel when a contaminant comes to the surface or oxidation from the backside of the weld comes through due to me not controlling the heat. Knowing these things, I very rarely get flashed any more. It is always when I am not cleaning things enough or too much heat. Also, I have found that grinding off all of the carbon mill scale off hot rolled steel helps to prevent this as well. Overall these are great helmets for the price. I use my Yeswelder daily for mig welding because I don’t want to beat up my Lincoln helmet doing structural mig welding. I would gladly buy another Yeswelder helmet. For the price they are the best out there especially if you put the Lincoln headgear on it. Hope this helps.😁👍Don
@@PranaTech wow it really sounds like you know what your talking about and I appreciate the complications you have encountered and how you resolved them. Because of your response and knowledge I decided to buy the same helmet as your video. Thanks again
Great! Let me know anytime if you have any questions. 😊👍
Does it hurt your eyes not having the side windows auto darken? I would like some comments on that because I just purchased one of these with the green face on it that doesn't have the auto darken sides. I didn't understand there was a difference until I had purchased it. Thanks in advance for any advice or thoughts.
Hi Tom, you will only have the bright light of welding come in through the front of the helmet. The sides will only receive peripheral light from the arc and this is not damaging in any way. You will see what I mean once you get to welding with it and then you will see how enjoyable these helmets are to weld with.😊👍
I have a lincoln welding helmet for two years and I can't complain. I just ordered this one from Amazon. Can't wait to see what the difference is.
I think you’ll like it. The view is so much brighter and easier to see what your welding.👍
Fair enough, I've just bought it, can't wait to use it (Here in Costa Rica) ;)
I think you’re going to really like it.😁👍
Do you have a problem with flashes from the side lenses? I got told 30 odd years ago to be careful of getting flashed from the reflection off nearby walls.
Hi Steve, no I don’t get any flashes from the side with this helmet ever! 😀👍
Is it supposed to have a greenish tint when auto darkening isn’t active?
Would love to use that.. amazing
Great video. I am in the Philippines now and I can even buy one here. Thanks for the heads up !
Thanks Ray! Glad it helped.😀👍
I know this video is a few yrs back but I wonder if there's a way to measure how much uv light is exposed from behind the lense. Because I seemed to be wincing a bit with the trucolor vs the Hobart
I don’t know if there is a way to test that, but if you are wincing then you should adjust the lens shade to a darker setting. Hope this helps.😊
Thanks for the informative video! Just got mine last night. The owners manual is kinda lacking regarding actual use techniques and battery replacement. Not sure what to expect when hitting the TEST button because nothing seems to happen in ambient light. Just want to make sure this helmet actually dims when I go for my first weld. Thoughts please...
Hi there, the test button should darken the lens. Also, take it outside and point it towards the sun. It will darken for sure then. If not it may need a new battery. 👍😀
@@PranaTech it did dim with the test outside. Thanks! The sensitivity has to be turned all the way looking at the sun. What are the typical settings (clock hand position) for Sensitivity and Delay for MIG welding?
Hi Eric, I usually set mine at 10 on the brightness level and I think I turned my sensitivity down one notch because when I was welding outside it will trigger just from the sun reflection on things around me. 👍Don
@@PranaTech thanks Brutha!
Great review. Thank you for this information because it’s very helpful. Sounds like an awesome helmet and yes we can see how clear it is!
Thank you for the nice comment! 👍😁
I use a miller elite but I wouldn’t mind trying the yeswelder to see the difference
It really did amaze me the first time I used this helmet. So much brighter!
Will you get arc burn from the side panels?
Hi there, no I’ve never had any burn at all from the side panels. They are shaded, just not as dark as the front panel gets. They are nice for getting a view of your surroundings if you are in a tight spot.😊👍
Just got mine in last week from eBay. I feel like a badass now 😂.
🤣👍
How do you change the plastic shield on the helmet cause I feel like I'm gonna break the little clips keeping it on
Hi Shawn, yes they are tight but none of mine have broken when I changed out my shield. I used a small flat blade screwdriver and just popped each one out carefully.😁👍
I was very disappointed in my Yes Welder series 800 helmet. It worked fine for stick welding on a transformer machine, it worked fine for DC Tig welding on a transformer machine, but it flashes on and off while DC Tig welding on an inverter machine. Aluminum welding on AC works fine, but standard DC on an inverter turns the helmet on and off, flashing my eyes. All 4 arc sensors are functioning and I am simply welding bead on plate, so we are not looking at the arc being hidden behind pipe. My other "green color" auto darkening helmets work fine, but, my Yes Welder helmet does not.
Hi David, try turning down the sensitivity. 👍
@@PranaTech actually, turning up the sensitivity works better, but at these high levels, it goes dark under ambient light and is no better than the old passive welding helmets.
Bummer, sounds like you have a bad screen. I would email them for a new darkening unit to replace that one or just send it back. ☹️
I think you're making a sell. What's the verdict 4 years later?
It is still working great! I have a Lincoln Viking that I use for fine Tig work because it has a little more clarity for my aging eyes. But that helmet cost me $320 and the Yeswelder I use for all my Mig work and it still works perfect. It doesn’t have as many sensors as the Lincoln and if you are out of position doing Tig work it will sometimes flash me at low amperage welding due to the location of the sensors. But for 95% of the welding that I do, it works great. Especially if all you are doing is Mig and stick weld or Tig above 90 amps. For the money it is a great helmet. Hope this helps! Don 😊👍
Could someone hip me to the Yeswelder Bag weird ties that close this bag.
Have you ever had this helmet flash you. I bought a nice harbor freight special. but it flashed me at low amps.
Hi there, no I’ve never had it flash me, but I have had it darken when I didn’t want it to. Like when I’m welding outside and just a reflection of the sun on metal would set it off. I just adjusted the sensitivity down a little and it works great.😀👍
How on earth do you replace the battery
You pop off the square frame on the inside of the helmet that holds in the darkening lens assembly. Once that is off you can lift out the lens and access the door on the upper right corner and slide it up and off. The battery slides out to the right. Replace battery and reverse these steps. 😊👍
Any idea about the solar powered models from them?
I think they are all solar powered but I’m not positive on that. All of the models that I’ve played with are solar including the one in this review. They use a battery to start the lens when welding and then the solar panel takes over once the arc starts. 😁👍
It's a nice helmets for the price for sure, beware if you have a small head it runs loose compared to other helmets, this definitely has a good view though, works good and is cheap.
I really like this helmet for the amazing view. I can see that if I had a smaller head it would not fit well. Luckily it fits me great.👍😀
@@PranaTech Yeah other helmets have more adjustability but unless you have a small head I don't see it being a problem, and even then you can just get a new head strap piece if you need, they can easily be changed out and are the less expensive part.
Yes, I agree👍😀
What darkness did you have the yes hood on when using the mig? Just brought this and the 200amp wleder looks same but being and australian welder yes welder called it a mig-200.
Gonna learn to weld, any advice will help
Cheers
Hello! I was using the hood on level 10 when I’m mig welding. Turn your inductance up to +7 and you will get nice clean welds and you will learn quicker and enjoy the process.👍😀
Prana-Tech thanks mate 👍🏼
Prana-Tech i been seeing for flux core on here that the leads should be swapped on front in this correct? Reverse polarity dc or something for flux welds
I was reading the manual and I believe you are right that you have to swap the leads to use flux core.👍
Prana-Tech i set mine upfully today its strange i put .8mm flux wire in and done everything i needed to and i was doin controls on front and wouldmt let me move from .9mm on the screen any ideas can put vid on my channel if ya wanna see the clip?
Hi Don, I'm still trying to contact Yeswelder company, no success, any advise? Thank you
Hi Lara, they got back to me the next morning after we last spoke. If you want to send me an email with your question I’ll forward your info to them. I’ll help in any way I can.😀👍
So my helmet has the tendency to flash on and off it’ll go off while welding and it hurts like hell
Any recommendations on fixing that
Hi Irvin, mine has only done that once and I believe I turned up the sensitivity a little and it fixed it. If it continues just contact Yeswelder and they will take care of it. 👍
Great review, I just bought this exact welding helmet for school and should be arriving today. I can't wait to try it out. Thanks

Is it bad for your eyes though ?
Hi Steven, it doesn’t seem any different than any other helmet out there other than the color difference. I don’t get any eye strain or fatigue or residual bright spots when I stop welding so I believe it is safe.👍😀
I Hate All These Ads. great a Welder that can weld. Best Helmet I have ever seen is made by Kimberly-Clark for Jackson. It's better than the Hobart, Miller, and Lincoln brands I have used

That’s not the point helmet hood same thing he’s telling you it’s just as good as the expensive helmets he tried it. I’m going to buy this helmet,he gave me more info then amazon thank you
Replaceable battery the best
@@LC-fl3zm Dude any quality Hood you buy should have a replaceable battery. Never go with a replacement lens with a non replaceable battery, you will wind up spending more money in the long run. A good Hood should have solar charging panels in the lens itself. I've had batteries that have lasted at least two years.
I want to see it in action, not person going blah blah blah.
Sorry I don't mean to sound mean I just sound a little course when I type.
Hi Matthew, no offense taken. I did show the helmet in action in the video and shows it in comparison to my HTP traditional green lens helmet. Both helmets were shown so you can see the difference. Let me know if there was something else you wanted to see. Thanks , Don👍😁
Why don't you just move to China you seem to love their junk so much. First off YOU HAVEN'T OWNED A PRO HELMET YET.. $300 is mid level. Not top line anything
Wow, you seem upset. I know it may be hard to imagine, but not everyone can afford a $300 to $500 helmet. Sorry you were so offended by my review. No hard feelings though, ok.😁👍
