    but one second
    if Pokemon don't mega evolve in the wild...
    how can the entries say things like a mega evolved Pokemon hunting for food...
    Rotom is at it again...

      @maromania7 7 лет назад +35

      but that's his argument. it's not from a bond, it's just a pokemon who touched one of the stones that were scattered everywhere by that ultimate weapon. any wild pokemon who found one would go mega. if it was from a bond you'd have a happiness requirement, and not be able to do it with the pokemon youjust caught seconds beforehand.

    • @blksmagma
      @blksmagma 7 лет назад +39

      Maromania The problem with that is the fact that it's not enough for a pokemon to be just holding a mega stone to mega evolve. You need the keystone that a trainer has as well. I think that along with Rotom just messing with the trainer, any pokemon found mega evolved in the wild are pokemon that were released while still in its mega state. The trainer couldn't control them at all.
      That might be why the adults keep talking about bonds. You have a better chance of controlling your frenzied and hurting pokemon if you have some sort of connection.

    • @maromania7
      @maromania7 7 лет назад +31

      maybe. or maybe you just don't dare use it without the keystone. for all we know, Keystones just make the evolution more stable, keep them more easily bonded. the adults tell you that you can't do it without the keystone, but is that can't as in not possible or can't as in 'you're 10 and are not allowed to', or can't as in 'it is possible but you and the nearest town would die so it's not really an option'.

    • @blksmagma
      @blksmagma 7 лет назад +11

      Maromania That's another plausable explanation. We're gonna need an official source to expand on this one cause it could be either/or right now. Then there's also the theory that is another example of Rotom messing with the trainer on some of these entries.

    • @LeonGun8
      @LeonGun8 6 лет назад +75

      Nah, it just shows they lied toyour face.And considering Mega-Evolution never needed actual in-game bonding to happen (it wasn't dependant on Happiness for example), it makes sense. All you did was slap a power source and FORCED IT TO EVOLVE. Not to mention in the games it is "theorized" by the professor that it happens due to the bond between trainer and pokemon, but it's not confirmed as such.
      And the Pokemon anime has sort of lost it's edge with time. It used to be have some very dark themes at times during early days. Like Sabrina. Hence the whole "oh yeah,all Mega Lucario needed was some good old loving from it's master" is just them making the whole thing tamer.

    I kinda have a theory on this, I know this is almost a year old now but I believe that these awful side effects happen because of a lack of a bond, like in the Pokemon anime where Korrina's Lucario goes Savage and attacks only a set few targets, destroying everything and everyone in his way. We see in the same episodes that korrina's father (or grandfather, I dunno) and his Lucario can work together fine because of their bond. On later episodes it is only after Korrina and her Lucario build a good enough bond is when they can control the mega evolution form, and it is the bond itself that is keeping the Pokemon from suffering so greatly.

    Those "terrible things" That is why Mega Evolution truly works with a strong bond. The power of that bond and the competency of the trainer tend to overcome a lot. At least, that's how I look at it. That's why Keystones aren't handed out to new trainers. The bad guys who wielded Mega Evolution probably had little idea of what they were putting their pokemon through...or in the case of those who still could bond with their pokemon, their pokemon still loved them and could handle the power boost.

      Good point. Half of these problems would be solved if the trainer clearly showed care after the Mega was over.
      Imagine a mother Kangaskhan and her child being scared from the first Mega, the trainer coming up to them, hugging them, and maybe communicating that it's okay in some way (depending on if they understand human speech patterns).
      Imagine a Lucario remembering how savage he was when Mega'd and just having a thousand yard stare for a bit before the trainer hugs them, feeds 'em some sweets and has some fun outside of battle.
      It's power at a price, but that doesn't mean the price isn't worth paying under any circumstances. And it also underscores how seriously strong megas can be.

      There's a fan theory that the pokèdex entries are intentionally written the way they are because the trainers who collect the data *are children,* and the entries are written by children, which is why they're so exaggerated and outlandish. Maybe the trainers who wrote the mega evolution entries are just in their edgy teenager phases.

    So many conflicting opinions:
    "This is the result of using Mega Evolution irresponsibly."
    - I agree. Mega Evolution should not be used unless the trainer has a strong bond with their pokemon, so these things listed in the video will be less likely to occur. (Btw, excellent video, TheJWittz :D)
    "Gamefreak lied so people would use Z-rings more."
    - Well, I wouldn't say they 'lied', I'd say they are just encouraging use of Z-moves while disenheartening others from repeatedly spamming their emails and forums with 'I WANT MORE MEGA EVOLUTIONS!'
    "Mega Evolution is a man-made process that trainers use to force their Pokémon to become stronger."
    - It kinda is man-made, but the entire basis behind Mega Evolution is to have a strong bond with your trainer. This should be emphasized more often.
    "Z-moves are more peaceful. Like the Pikachu one where it jumps into the trainer's arms."
    - Yeah, it's adorable, and peaceful. Until the moment the trainer throws the Pikachu out of his arms like he just saw Mimikyu's true form.
    "Pokémon were never meant to Mega Evolve."
    - If they weren't meant to Mega Evolve, why is it included in the game? Even if it does harm the Pokemon (a reason it shouldn't be used) afterwards, the trainer will be there to comfort the Pokemon. It's OK to use it, as long as the trainer doesn't go power hungry and abuses the power of Mega Evolution. And since it can harm the Pokemon, that's why you don't see trainers using Mega Evolution right off the bat. Of course, that's a whole 'nother topic.
    "Pokémon seem to revel in the strength they receive when Mega Evolving while they have the right bond with their trainer."
    - I agree. Pokémon do seem to enjoy the strength they receive when Mega Evolving, since their trainer bears the Pokémon's pain along with them, lessening the strain.
    "This is just some Kukui propoganda."
    - Perhaps.
    "Can we even trust these entries? It is a ROTOM dex, after all."
    - Very suspicious.
    "Mega Kangaskhan doesn't seem worried, according to the Pokémon Sun entry."
    - Pokémon Sun and Moon are two different games, but they still happen in the same region, so most likely Mega Kangaskhan is still suffering... (Very harsh concept, sorry)
    "Blood Soaked Crescent, more like Blood Soaked Croissant."
    -Why is this mentioned so much? I don't want to eat a Blood Soaked Croissant...
    And here we are. I'll bet you are wondering why the heck I typed out this long list when I could have just commented when I found them. Well, I don't have an answer for that yet, so feel free to comment below if you disagree or agree with those ideals listed above.

The tackle z move actually fits the z move in use while it could not be farther from the truth for hyper beam, then there are legendaries that don't really get special z move animations for there signiture moves which are a missed opportunity and a completely stupid move on game freaks parts, honestly megas make far more sense to me then z moves, and there definitely a far better idea then alolan forms which are basically close to the definition of lazy design.

    I think if anything this proves why mega evolution requires such a strong bond between trainer and Pokemon. If the two aren't in perfect sync then there's no way for the Pokemon to control the new power it was given. It's also why mega evolution is temporary because it takes so much out of a Pokemon to do it in the first place. It would probably make a lot more sense if there was a friendship requirement but I guess GameFreak didn't want to add another prerequisite to their big new game mechanic.

    Mega evolution is just as you said, an artificial change brought on by alchemy. Processes like Battle Bond, Primal Reversion, Z-Moves and BREAK evolution(from the TCG) are natural changes. Hence why Z-Moves are given to you by Land Spirits (The Tapus). Ones a Pokémon/Trainer tapping into the power of Nature, the other's a forced change.

    I think that's why "the bond between Trainer and Pokémon needs to be strong". The Pokémon's gotta trust the trainer if it accepts to mega-evolve and still listen to its trainer despite the pain. We've seen something similar with Corrina's Lucario in the anime.

      You know what I think? I think that these pokedex entries are all based on what happens if the pokemon is *forced* to mega evolve. After all, the pokedex is based off of data collected from research. What better way to do research on it than to force them to mega evolve in a controlled environment with controlled conditions? Whilst some of the things that happen to them would have truth to them, such as the alakazam one, a lot of them wouldn't as they are based around a loss of control. I like to think of it like how in digimon greymon was forced to digivolve and lost control as skullgreymon, but later did it properly and was SUPER AMAZINGLY AWESOME, without any loss of control.
      As much of a convenient excuse as this is, I refuse to believe that mega evolution is causing them to basically go insane for two reasons. 1, they still listen to you, and 2, I like my pokemon. I make sure they don't lose, I give them treats, I look after them. The possibility that this is hurting them just feels wrong.

    • @keeganstormblade5456
      @keeganstormblade5456 7 лет назад +6

      FRKNSPACEWIZARD!!! Brett And that idea is reinforced in Volcanion and the Mechanical Marvel. The main villain, Alva, has the Mega Wave, a device that makes multiple Pokemon Mega Evolve.
      You'll notice that all of the Pokemon forced to Mega Evolve are in a lot of pain when the device is used on them, yet when you see Chymia use Mega Evolution on her Gardevoir, it isn't in pain at all.

    • @delta7595

    No wonder Alola region doesn't have Mega Stones till post game at the Battle Tree. Alola is a region that's a lot more focused on bonding with Pokemon and nature than other regions, so to use a tool that turns said pokemon into a more powerful being, but at the cost of their sanity and going berserk (like Korrina's Lucario in the anime), problemly not a good idea to give beginner trainers at age 11 Mega rings at the start of their island challenge.

      PsychoticPudu Well, for most Pokemon.
      In example: Maybe Beedrill used to look like It's Mega form but as time went on, they migrated to different areas that had faster predators and thus, they didn't need the larger body dragging them down but for some such as Kangaskhan or Gengar and especially Mewtwo (Unless Mewtwo already existed and wasn't known or multiple Mewtwo Teleported from different Dimensions), I can see how it wouldn't make sense

    • @RogueT-Rex8468
      @RogueT-Rex8468 6 лет назад +7

      Nickolas Mooney makes you think there was a very specific reason people began capturing and training pokemon in the first place with that in mind.
      Image you, a human in times where pokemon were unbelievably powerful and very violent. You had no true defense but your wits. As time went on and people ultimately sustained horrible injury or death, the drive to survive was pushed to the limit. Our "mega evolution" was a boost of intellect and with it, a simple and profound idea. What better to fight a monster than a monster? And thus, the first pokemon was captured (likely a baby) and raised to follow commands to protect its "pack". Utilizing this pokemons power and our tactful strategies, they were not only able to drive their predators away but capture new pokemon to fight alongside them as well, their natural urge for battle slaked upon defending their new human handlers who provided them homes and food in exchange.
      As time went on, breeding these pokemon resulted more domestic and loyal breeds that are well known today, the once unsteady alliance between man and beast long enemy now noble friend and companion.
      The original use of battle now obsolete in wake of growing utopia a tradition to remember what it was that bridged fear and pain and bound us in a bond of trust on the field of battle was formed. And the eternal bond of Trainer and Pokemon resonates forever more.

    Maybe that's what they mean when they say you need a powerful bond... Maybe it's not that Pokémon CAN'T Mega-Evolve without a trainer (we've seen that in at least a couple of cases, albeit both were legendaries); maybe it's just that Pokémon will only force themselves to Mega-Evolve if they believe the thing they're fighting for is worth it? And living things will do crazy things to protect the ones they love... Even risking unleashing a power like this inside themselves, knowing the harm it might do to their bodies and minds, because that sacrifice might save their dearest friend... But still, I never did like Mega Evolution, it always felt so empty.

    • @nightshroud9671
      @nightshroud9671 6 лет назад +1

      Would be cool of having there is 2 methods
      1 method is the keystone one, quick and easy but the downside is the side-effects will happen if the trainer's bond isn't strong enough
      The other is doing it WITHOUT on the trainer but with the pokemon's own power
      Training wthout humans, becoming strong and earning the right to mega-evolve
      The big thing is it won't have to worry about the side-effects due to already strong enough to control it(as in EARNED that right to mega-evolve), but the big problem is its rare and can be really hard
      Another way to add in that method is also if the pokemon has a intense emotions, like hatred or rage, grief, or good emotions like a deep love for another pokemon or a noble desire to protect

    Kanga's mega dex entries are rather contradictory, it's Moon entry talks about how she's worried about it's future, but the Sun entry says the exact opposite, saying she enjoys and encourages her child's growth.

    If I have a full bond with Lucario and I mega evolve it, it isn't heartless it does thing like dodge attacks and little HEARTS appear above it's head so it's ANYTHING but heartless
    I'm not saying your wrong I'm saying the game doesn't stick to its word if this was true Lucario ,for example, it's trainer/pokemon relation should be temp. muted or somthing

      You got yourself a SUB! Aka Lucarmikyu part of it is because this comes from an alolan pokedex in universe the exsplanation is all of alola are far too focused on the only ways and the old ways are z moves, and mega evolution is not seen as good and no alolan trainer has ever perfected mega evolution bond. As such they do there absolute best to make mega evolution sound as bad as can be. The real outside universe reason however is that game freak wants us to dislike mega evolutions so we stop asking them for new megas, as far as im concerned it will not work on me!

    • @VeilanYume
      @VeilanYume 5 лет назад +2

      As a Lucario owner myself, thank you for this.
      That being said, now I've got a funny (albeit twisted) mental image: Lucario being all friendly towards its trainer while simultaneously being heartless towards its opponents. Which would make both your comment and GameFreak's Pokedex entries true at the same time.

      Korrina in the anime? She couldn't control him for a while and rampaged as if it were heartless! I'd say that the entries are based off of pokémon that haven't been exposed to mega evolution before or recently. Evidence later when Ash challenges Korrina and lucario with lucario being able to mega evolve with no complications!

    I think Rotom is playing with us, if Mega Alakazam loses all it's muscle power, than how does it still have 50 base Attack?

    • @Gensolink
      @Gensolink 7 лет назад +42

      by ramming his body with psychic power of course !

      Kaick Filipe Wicke and Hau have the same Dex entries. You're the only one with Rotom.

    • @Jaquan018
      @Jaquan018 7 лет назад

      You know Alakazam Barely have any power in its muscles by default? It was already moving and even keeping his head straight thanks to its immense psychic powers.

    • @piluex2
      @piluex2 7 лет назад

      I really don't see why alakazam losing its mussle strenght is all that bad, various pokedex entries state that Alakazam's mussles are so weak they move using their minds, so the mussles weren't doing anything useful anyways.

    • @eianguevarra774

      The physical attacking animation makes it attack with the spoons themselves, so it's still not using muscles

    • @sir.hopper

      But at the end a Garchomp WILL get their hands back.
      The closest a Scyther will ever get to having hands are the claws of Scizor.
      A Scyther would laugh at a Mega Garchomp for complaining about his lack of hands.

    • @Pocket-Calculator
      @Pocket-Calculator 7 лет назад +4

      Hi, I'm Hopper It's not the lack of hands, it's the pain and psychological trauma of having it's body disfigurated. The pokédex even says that the pain makes it go into a rampage and destroy everything it can see.

    Alakazams mega entry resembles to the act of : not needing muscle strength but using soul power aka phicic power to defeat enemy's,
    Basically it has reached to ultimate level of phicic energy and is super power full
    I hope you under stand

      T.D.G Leonidas w/ friends also it's not too far from what it was before. Before mega evolution alakazams muscle tissue was already wilting due to lack of need because its psychic powers are that strong.

    I guess the point is that our Character in-game has such a powerful bond with his/her Pokemon they are able to overcome the negatives of Mega-Evolution. Hence why Salamence never turns on you etc etc.
