We decided to go the Montessori floor mattress route with our son and recommend it!! He is 14 months and has been on a queen sized mattress on the floor since he was 4 or 5 months old. We put bumpers around the edges of the bed (even the sides that are against walls) to keep him from rolling off when he was really little. We removed those when he started crawling over them and kept pads on the ground so he would have a little "step" to help him crawl on and off the mattress. He was crawling at 7 months and walking at 10 months. I truly think the floor mattress really helped develop his gross motors skills. His room is also "Montessori style", not much he can get into and has a few toys he can safely play with by himself. Being able to crawl off his bed and go play with toys really motivated him to learn how to move around. :) We love it!

Milena! We LOVE Sprout Kids Montessori furniture! It would match your aesthetic too - pretty baltic birch! They have a couple beds, including floor bed! My Dad gifted us the wardrobe when I was pregnant and doing our daughter's nursery. It was such amazing quality that we bought the weaning table, and most recently the toddler learning tower for our 18 month old as a Christmas gift. Everything has been super high quality and their customer service is amazing. Made in the USA - in Utah.

I have an 18mo and we’ve used a floor bed with her since she was 6 months. We co slept on floor beds with her until that point so it was overall an easy adjustment for her. We adore it and she sleeps well. If she’s not ready to sleep, most of the time, she’ll ramble around her room and play contently until she falls asleep. Sometimes she falls asleep on the floor but we just scoop her up and put her back in her bed, which has only happened just recently. 99% of the time it’s a smooth transfer.

My daughter has a floor bed ever since she turned 18 months. It was the best decision because we don’t have to worry about her falling off the bed. She has toys and books for her to play with when she doesn’t want to sleep. She puts her toys and books back where they belong when she gets sleepy and goes to bed to sleep all by herself. She has so much room for herself it’s great!

I have loved doing a floor bed with my daughter! It’s just a queen bed on the floor. Then if we have guests I just move her into my room in a pack and play.
It just means having the whole room be safe and understanding she’ll crawl around sometimes. It’s been really special to be able to nurse her and cuddle as a family in the floor bed ❤

Hi Milena, I have never used a crib for my 2 daughters. I have always used a floor bed since birth🥲🙃. I have never had the issue with my girls leaving their bed when they transitioned from crib to bed because they were always used to having beds and staying in them😂so definitely an amazing idea. We moved the bed up against the wall and had bed rails on the opposite side and foot end as well and that worked 👌🏼

We’re looking to transition to a floor bed in the next couple of weeks. I have done a bit of research and a few people have said that just a mattress on the floor is fine as long as you pick it up to air it every few days. Not very aesthetic but it looks safer than some other options 😊.

My son uses a floor bed and it’s been a really positive experience! We didn’t transition him into using the floor bed until he was a year old so I can’t speak from experience of having a younger baby but I’ve heard of people using them as young as 6 months. For us it’s been great!! My son takes his naps and then goes and independently plays as soon as he wakes up and doesn’t need us to come get him. He loves it!

First time mama whose done a lot of research on the floor bed, we are doing the floor bed right away at 3-4 months (whenever they grow out of the bassinet) I think it’s a great option, we found one off Facebook marketplace that was a twin, we just have to buy the mattress now which will be a latex mattress that is firm (latex is anti mold so great for floor beds) we are hoping our child will have this twin bed until they are 6-8 years old. Great investment and overall minimal, prevents you from buying extra things

Yes I had an "I'm just surviving" day today and it felt freeing to let myself have that for my kid. I just used a crib mattress for my son's floor bed when he was around 13 months and he loves it. He immediately acclimated to it and I used rolled up blankets under the fitted sheet as temporary bumpers until he got used to where the edges are. I also have a day bed with a trundle in my other son's bed room for when they are older and temporarily for guests. I'm expecting my second son any day now and I'm finding getting them ready for something early on in their life helps them adjust easier, but every kid is different!

I used a floor bed with my son (now 3.5) and we loved it!! He slept in a bassinet until he was 3-4 months old beside my bed and I transitioned him to his floor bed in his nursery and was such an easy transition. We just used a nice crib mattress set on the floor in the corner. Just have to be mindful and intentional to make sure the room is baby proofed well. Good luck to you!

We switched our oldest to a floor bed when he was fourteen months old. It took about two weeks for him to adjust as he'd previously been in a crib. He loved it and still does to this day as he is now over two years old. We got ours from the company, Sprout. It's nice because it works as a floor bed right now, but with time we can switch it to a normal bed up off the ground. It was an investment for us but we'll worth it. We love it. Highly recommend.

We did a Montessori bed from 4 months on, would definitely do it again. It teaches them proprioception at a younger age and where the edges are.
I will say that they do roll off sometimes at the very beginning and having a bumper on the wall side and outside edge is helpful at first though, just gets them to learn where the edges are without hitting the wall, cause that’s not fun.

I saw that it said if you need prayer to put it in the comments. So I figured it’s worth asking, my husband and I have been getting attacked in our finances ever since we got married in July of 2021. We’ve done the side hustles but things just haven’t been working out. I then gave birth to our daughter in June and was out of work for a while. I started looking back again for jobs in August and haven’t found anything. My husband is in between jobs as well and currently we’re both not working. We don’t have any money to pay for any household items we need, personal hygiene items, or baby items. So we really need help. Our cars got repossessed as well and the way we get around now is using his moms car since she moved in with us to help us with rent. I know people are going through hard times and I know God loves us we just are trying to endure this.

My son's room is also my office. I need multiple screens for work. I recently got DropTop desk. It's great as I can close it at the end of the day. The screens and any unhealthy light they may generate is not in his face.

A thought om the desk in the bedroom. Its an option, but like you said, you will kind of get tired of your bedroom and then maybe get a harder time sleeping at night! At least thats my experiance😅☺️

I’ve used a floor bed for all 3 of my kids! It’s been great. We got teepees from “Domestic Objects” on Etsy, and they used those after they were 1. My youngest has been in a floor bed since she was born and we love it.
Haha Family on RUclips has a few floor bed videos that I’ve found helpful.

Okay girl, so this is FAR FROM aestethically pleasing but my youngest son (2 years, 4 months) Hunter is sleeping on his cot mattress on his bedroom floor. I made a video back when I was vlogging on this channel when he first climbes out of his cot at 13 months old, took it all out and he's been sleeping on the floor since. He currently has blankets, a cushion and a few teddies when he sleeps but there's nothing else in his room AT ALL. It's small and all his toys are downstairs/in his toy wardrobe (and we are just now thinking of buying him a bed lol!), but it's worked really well with his sleep and his tiny room is where he sleeps, and he knows that. haha x

We went straight from next to me to a twin size floor bed and our little one sleeps so much better. Two wakes each night and doesn't rise until 7 am but can get out and play rather than cry because she is trapped in a crib!

Definitely go for the Montessori floor bed! My now 2 1/2 year old has slept on a queen mattress on the floor since a little bit before she turned one. She’s always been a crazy sleeper so she does use the entire bed 😂 but It’ll pay off bc you wont need a new bed for her for a long time 👍🏼😌

We used a floor bed with my 2 1/2 year old from the time he was about 7 months. We just did the ikea Kura bed flipped upside down so that there were a little bit of sides and he couldn’t roll out. I think If you search for kura floor bed hacks a lot will come up.

When the baby gets older, will you put her in a room with her sister and give the brother his own room. I’m just curious on your thoughts of boys and girls sharing rooms. I have a boy and girl but idk how much longer they can share! My son is picking up everything sister does and I’m finding myself tell him “it’s for girls” more often. He’s three. Just wanted to hear your thoughts 💭 😊

In our sons room we have a double bed and a cot, been using them both since birth, if he had a bad night or was sick and I wanted to co sleep then the bed was set up in there already, if guest needed to stay the bed is already set up 😊, when we are ready to transition he will then have that double bed and we will remove the cot

We will be using a floor bed for our 3rd baby too once she’s around that age! We do naps first then slowly transition them there at night!!
