Procurator, Pretor, Mandator I and Mandator II didn't have hyperdrives serving as shipyard defense of Kuat. It is not clear if Mandator II could be equipped in one, but at the time Kuat has numerous orders for ISD's, so it probably was unnecessary. Mandator series was in fact closely related to Bellator, so those were basically more primitive versions of that ship. Mandator III was way larger, so it is actually unrelated design. Mandator IV doesn't look like Bellator, so it was simply First Order bootleg.

@@johnlavery3433 The Bismarck was the most powerful battleship in the world when it was constructed. It demolished the Hood with little issue and keep in mind the Hood was the most powerful ship in the interwar period. It took a fleet surrounding the Bismarck to kill it after it had been crippled by swordfish.

    • @johnlavery3433
      @johnlavery3433 3 года назад +10

@@hi_-bz7wf congratulations, you know very little about anything. Bismarck was nothing special. It had a 12 inch belt, so as good and literally any battleship in existence in the time, it had 8 15 in guns, so again, as good as anything anyone else had. Hood wasn’t a battleship, it wasn’t a battlecruiser either, it was something in between, and Bismarck destroyed it because of an incredibly luck shit that hit it in the magazine. Bismarck’s design was terrible, the Italian Littorio class battleships got an extra gun and 2 extra inches of armour for 2000 less tons of displacement. The Bismarck’s guns broke its main rangefinders, its electrical systems weren’t protected by armour, so they were vulnerable to battle damage, the design of its propulsion system is what allowed that torpedo hit to cripple its engines, if it had been designed like every other battleship it would only have lost half its steering. It would have turned like a cargo ship but it would have still been able to do at top speed. Plus it’s anti air defences were so bad it couldn’t shoot down old biplanes that were half a decade out of date. Plus it’s generally a given that a battleship should be protected against guns as big as its own (15 inch in this case), but Bismarck’s main belt was penetrated by 14 inch fire from Prince of Wales. And you talk about the last battle as if that’s some sort of great feat of endurance. The purpose of gunfire is to cripple a ship so torpedoes could be used to take it down, without those, or an incredibly lucky magazine shot it’s nigh impossible to sink any battleship. HMS Warspite was bombarded by half the German fleet at Jutland and only took superficial damage. Bismarck had all of its guns destroyed within 15 minutes. The remaining half an hour consisted of bombarding a flaming hulk fit only for scrapping. Bismarck was not an exceptional ship, it was ok all things considered with a few glaring flaws

Personally while I initially thought the idea of the SSD was kinda cool, certainly Vader's in Return of the Jedi looked super cool, the versatility you could have with tons of smaller ships would be far superior in most situations. The same amount of materials & crew would be able to support and cover a vast swath of the galaxy rather then the SSDs single planets or being avoided as it lumbered around its sector on patrol. Personally I always liked the Victory class of Star Destroyer over the ISD & SSD, specifically the Vic II. Its smaller and faster and I think those fins on the sides look awesome.

4:16 "Slow" is relative though. If you go by lore figures, even the Executor-class can pull 1,230g. More than 7 miles per second squared.
To put that in perspective... the US developed an ICBM interceptor in the cold war that accelerated at around 100g. It could go from 0 to mach 10 in less than 10 seconds. Each of its rocket stages burned for about 2 - 3 seconds and then seperated. Within 5 - 6 seconds of launch the nose cone started to glow white hot as a result of doing high mach deep in the atmosphere. The videos of it on the internet (look up "Nike Sprint") are typically slowed down so that you can actually see what's happening. Well... the Empire's giant SSD can accelerate about 12 times harder than that. If you go by the lore.

hey, there is a series called "if the emperor had a text to speech device" from Bruva Alfabusa, it is basically making fun of the whole 40k universe but it is a lot of fun and a good starting point if you want to learn more about it, searching the stuff they talk about as they do so.

Lot of channels Baldemort, and 40k theories, as well Wolf Lord Rho are great to have in the background while you are doing something else. If you are sitting down and want to watch a series then what they put "If the Emperor had a text to speech device" or ITEHTTS, or TTS.

#AskEck What are the best ships from a _bang for buck_ perspective from say the Clone Wars and the a Empire era (and perhaps pre Clone Wars?).
If a faction had a set budget (large enough to afford some good toys, but not unlimited) what's the best value they could get, considering firepower, versatility and the logistics [hangar queens that need a lot of maintenance, as well as ships that are crew intensive for their size, since that adds to running cost, get penalized - but pure droid ships can still lose points for not being as effective].
For example the Tie Defender is 4 times the cost of the Tie LN, but is definately more than 4 times as effective, as well as saving on the crew cost of replacing dead pilots.
But the Cloakshape fighter is so cheap can be bought in massive numbers for a planetary defence and just spam proton torpedos at the start of a battle.
    Then there's the missile boat.
Or the versatile, reliable and still reasonable value X-Wing.
So a rich sector military with large capital ships.
And a standard planet that needs a planetary defence force.
[IMHO A bunch of Correlian light freighters modified into gunships would make a easy to purchase and run combat fleet]

    #askeck I have a question about Halo:
I'm not completely up to date on all the halo lore, so I might be asking a dumb question. But do you think 343 will ever release a game or even just more lore about ancient humanity? I heard that Halo Infinite is the last game in the Master Chief Saga, and they've focused a lot on this era in all of their games. I was just wondering if you think they will go there after Infinite, or will it always be enshrouded in mystery?
