I just bought a 2021 GLC 300 and love, love love it. I drove the Q5 and it road hard more like my last BMW. The GLC looks and feels more luxurious inside and feels roomier. Maybe because I am getting older, but I want to feel comfortable and not every bump in the road.
Last year I tested both and for me, the GLC was much better and have more options on it including a full digital screen on both screens. I took my GLC 200 2021 and I just love it and enjoy the smooth ride of it. When I need power I just press the paddle and fly :)
GLC is designed for comfort and also for those who r more mature age wise. Q5 n x3 x4 are for sportier people. Doesn't make one worse than the other. There r clearly different buyers for both types.
I’ve owned a q5 and this video makes me miss it. I’ve been wondering if I should go with a Mercedes this time. I’ll test drive both but I think the q5 still has my heart
I totally agree with you. I’m at the end of my GLC300 lease and I just switched to a 2021 Q5 Progressiv with black S-line trim. Driving dynamic , seats and better technology convinced me. Price of Audi is much more competitive too. I was due for a change after 2 back to back Mercedes.
@@serjvw1301 I just got the Q5 and love it so far. Before that I had a GLC300 for 4 years and before that a GLK350 for 4 years too. I was a bit disappointed by the Mercedes ride quality. It’s nice at the beginning but both cars had back shock issues after only a few months. They replaced them under warranty but a few months later the shocks were noisy and clunky again. It drove me nuts. I also had the famous squeeling brake on the GLC. This was a frequently reported issue. I also hated the Pirelli Scorpio Verde Run Flat tires. These tires were very hard and affected the ride quality so much. I was liking my winter tire better so you can imagine... These tires are also expensive and very hard to find. I had a flat last summer during my vacation and I had to make a lot of phone calls to realize that no one (not even 4 different Mercedes dealers) had them in stock. I had to order one and wait 2 days for the tire to come. Fortunately, I was able to buy a used non runflat similar tire in the meantime so I didn’t completely ruin my vacations. Never again run flat tire. Audi also offers real leather seats standard. Mercedes comes with leatherette. I had to replace the bottom of the driver seat on my GLK (600$) because it wear down after a few years. So, this is my experience with Mercedes. Overall OK but not great.
@@robinsd4 what a great response. Im looking for a new car and it was a toss up between these two. Looks like the q5 is the winner. Any suggestions on packages?
@@enhancedscalp the packages vary depending on the country. Here in Canada, I selected the middle trim (Progressive) and the Black S-Line package. This gives you sport seats, 20 in black wheels and the glossy black trims.
BMW X3 owner. Test drove both of these vehicles and had the same opinion. GLC looks better interior/exterior and offers the softer ride. Q5 is the better drive, value, technology, superior traction and more overall space interior/trunk. Audi is simply the better vehicle.
Actually GLC also has full digital cluster, but your testing vehicle is with lower trim….the headlights are also with the base led technology…there is more advanced led headlights….about the release of the back seats…in the higher trim level at the bottom of the seat near to C pillar there are buttons to take down the backrests….so your comparison is not fair….the Q5 is with higher trim level….otherwise your review is good 😉
Which vehicle engine has the longer life? My wife is looking at both and I've heard the Audi doesn't last much longer than approximately 80K miles. We tend to keep vehicles well past 100K miles.
I just test drove Audi Q5 and Mercedes GLC 300 today. I totally agree with you: the driving experience with Q5 was much better. GLC felt like a heavy slow boat compared to Q5. I'm totally sold on buying the Q5.
I agree with the Q5 being better than the 2021GLC. I think the 2022 GLC should add the new infotainment and some other refreshes that will pull ahead of the current Audi.
Audi Q5e 55 is the way to go these days unless you like burning fuel like my Mercedes ML 400. I’ll take any luxury hybrids. Gas and electric....best of both the worlds.
I live in the UK and we cant order the panoramic roof in the Q5, except for the top 75k Vorsprung Competition trim. Something to do with lack of computer chips. Grrrrr.
I've been with the GLC 2017 since and had tried the 2020 also, it's the same. Suspension is the worst part on this car, it feels like a groceries cart whenever you drive on the slightest bad road (almost the same in the 2020) Transmission and throttle combo: is indeed super jerky when doing stop and go in either traffic jams or making quick stops.Just those 2 things are to the point that it's embarrassing to me whenever I have guests on board "my Mercedes" so I must be be extra careful about my driving to avoid those situations as much. Throttle is artificially slowed in an exaggerate way in comfort mode and very frustrating to me, I find it dangerous at times when you need to insert yourself in traffic from an intersection! this means you will never get the power you want when you need unless you almost floor the gas paddle and takes at least a good 2 secs. The sport mode is way better for that and I would keep it on at all times but 2 problems; 1) the RPM will raise by 1/2x1000more as long as sport mode is on 2) Even if you don't care about gas and pollution in sport you must enable back at every start of the engine. Sound system before 2020 is super bad! no bass, muffled sound no matter how you try to adjust it sound like ass, such insult at this price point, Kia as a way better sound system in my friend's sorento by far. Air suspension already leaking from visit to chalet, and no I have not used the car in any abusive way!! More very annoying things: after a while the center console cracks during driving as well as my driver's side door plastics. They did fixed it at the dealer by tightening the screws but it only lasted for a month! Then you also get the air-vent traps adjusting airflow inside the vents that started making noise every 20 seconds or so. For the 2020 I would also like to point out that they could have refreshed the outdated front grill design. I would also say that the paint is of a poor quality, not durable. the inner lower door steps will get rusty quickly. My recommandation: Don't buy! There are way better built and durable vehicles out there that will give you much better value for your $$ especially if you don't lease. And between the 2, as I also know BMWs, I believe the X3 is a much better car and experience all around.
It seems that your opinion is that the difference between the two cars is the power of the Q5. However, I don't believe the actual testing supports your opinion.
I love the look of Audi Q5 very beautiful imo, but Q5 ride quality is so bad, i feel every bumps, feels like driving a race car combined with old american bouncing station wagon. Q5 gives me headache just normal driving. GLC feels lot bigger and wider inside, Q5 real seat feels like trap in prison. But exterior Q5 is lot sexier, i ended up getting X5.
@@PawpiChoolo Apart from the big grilles, there is nothing wrong with BMW, the M2, M3, M4, M5 all drive amazing, and even the regular models are fun to drive for their segments like the 330i or X5 40i. Both Mercedes and BMW are better than any American or Japanese luxury brands.

I suspect the Q5 wasn't specced w/air suspension. My Q5 with air suspension rides smooth even with summer 21 inch wheels.

I have the 2021 glc 300 4matic black on black and it is Amazing very quiet ride and smooth especially in the rain I love it!!!

For me the GLC feels more luxurious due to the softer suspension. What is the point of calling a car with a stiff suspension luxury.
