Having owned both, your observations are spot-on. The GLC skews more to the luxury side of the equation, while the Q5 is a bit sportier, with more features for your buck. I prefer the refinement of the Mercedes, but a good argument to be made for either option depending on your priorities.
Would love to see a comparison between the BMW X3, Audi Q5, and the Mercedes GLC 300. Ideally the AWD variants of each. Trying to decide which one to get!
From what I’ve read the AWD systems are ranked 1) Audi 2) BMW 3) Mercedes. I absolutely love the X-drive system. I live in VT and running studded winter tires the X3 has NEVER let me down.
I just test drove the all 3; x3 is the weakest. Least luxurious by far. Glc has an incredible seat and solid power (4matic model). Q5 to me is the best all rounder, and best transmission and best power.
We just picked up (literally less than 4 hours ago) a 2021 Mercedes GLC 300 4Matic for my wife, she upgraded from a 2020 GLA 4Matic. Yesterday, I drove my mom's 2020 Audi Q5 again. I thought, "Holy s! I love this car so much, maybe we need to give Audi a try before getting another Benz!" Again, the Audi I drove yesterday is a 2020. The Mercedes is a 2021 so take that as you will (there are significant differences between the 2020 & 2021 Audi). Although I love the Audi in almost every way, the Mercedes is just a nicer vehicle to be in and to drive. Its not as sporty as the Audi, but the Audi seems to be less sporty than it thinks it is, I felt like it was going to handle better. It actually wasn't noticeably better than the GLC, although they were different driving conditions so this isn't a scientific comparison. There is more feedback from the wheel in the Audi, but I don't think it was in a good way. Overall I felt that the Benz had more accurate steering and was a far better vehicle to drive. Handling wise, neither is anything to write home about but, they're SUV's so I'd say above average overall for both. In my (admittedly biased) opinion, the Mercedes seems to be a nicer vehicle by a somewhat significant margin, but the Audi is great too. Ultimately, you won't disappointed with either decision. Like everything else in life, it comes down to personal preferences. If you really like the styling of the Audi that much more, get it. It's not a bad decision. If you like the ride and interior of the Mercedes a lot more, get it. Point is, they're both great cars and you'll likely be happy with either one.
Very good comparison. Wife is looking at both and doesn't know which one she wants. Goes to show, different reviewers have different points of view cause I saw so many cons against the Audi, but I can tell her about this comparison and the Audi may not be a waste of money.

Merc all the way. Just ordered my GLC. I really don't see the Q5 having the 'clear' win here. Merc just looks infinitely better in every way. The sportier feels in Q5 and X3's are for people that clearly need to compensate as that is literally the only edge both brands have over a GLC.
I think the only reason why people buy the GLC is because it appears to be a little bit more stylish than the Q5. However than again the Q5 looks good as well. But the GLC definitely gets pricey when you build comparing to the Q5.
Features/Add-ons: You get more features/add-ons for the same $ amount in Audi Q5 than Mercedes GLC. Interior & Luxury: GLC has more luxurious interiors than Q5. It's great that all of the big 3 Germans as well as the UK & Swiss counterpart (F-Pace & XC60) have unique design personality - something for almost everyone :)
You mentioned that the Audi Q5 is a hybrid I believe that is an error ; it is just a 2.0 turbo engine as I just verified the info on the Audi website. My 2018 Q5 has pretty much the same engine but with 252 hp vs 261 (2021) and identical torque. It's a very good & potent engine.
The Audi might be the choice for everyone who is not a mercedes fan or wants a allaround good SUV. If you like mercedes a lot or you want to pose a bit then go for it. When you want a solid SUV without attention then go for the AUDI.
I bought a 2015 loaded c class that sticks at 59 for 34 in 2017. Unfortunately I just totaled it by hitting a fucking deer. I agree i wouldn’t buy a brand new car cuz you take such a hit. But I’m thinking of leasing one . Because I don’t plan on keeping it forever I want a new car In a few years and if you finance one you are going to be upside down when you want out . So that’s the only reason I’m getting a new vehicle for the first time
interesting analysis - over here in the Netherlands the facts get somewhat a bit skewed; the Mercedes glc is in average 10000k euro cheaper, for the same amount of equipment; also - the 200 and 300glc are actually mild-hybrid cars, with a small battery worth 7hp extra, which is used solely to help with starting and recovery. it's not much but this removes any lag, common in many turbocharged suvs and it makes the whole driving experience a lot more pleasant. i do like both, and would actually feel more inclined for the q5 aesthetics, but the mercedes interiors are vastly more luxurious and premium - lastely, with an extra 10k in your pocket, it's a no brainer. btw - due to the heavy carbon taxes, these cars are about 100.000 usd over here!!!
Спасибо за обзор. Всё понятно и по существу. У меня GLC 300, но хочу купить AUDI Q5. Теоретически - Mercedes солиднее, но AUDI спортивнее. Попробую обе машины, сравню, поделюсь своим мнением 😉
Audis have looked the same for the last 20 years, just different lights and the grills keep getting bigger. Must be the shock from looking at that beautiful Mercedes.
Audi's I find have better fit and finish n their interiors versus Mercedes Benz. My mom's friend has a 2018 C-Class and the fit and finish in that car is honestly not as great as what you would find in Lexus or Audi.
@@oxysz Get the Q5. Awesome vehicle...our 3rd one. We wanted to try something different in either the Mercedes or BMW..but came back to the Q5. @@Jassman3536 so get this Jeff I’m sure you know but they got the q5 e. I’m thinking of getting that in the wash it comes to nearly the same to lease a q5 vs a q5e.( first lease ever , just totaled Mercedes with a deer). So it gets about 64 on the highway ! And it’s fast like a sq5. 5 second 0-60. Only downside is you can’t tow like a normal q5 with it as much if that matters. But my favorite is that you can set your temp and everything from your phone and it uses the hybrid battery to warm up or cool off before you get in. Being in Minnesota that will be amazing since I have no garage right now. Main reason it comes to the same as a normal premium plus one is becusse you get 6712 from the government since it’s a plug in hybrid.
@@Jassman3536 my biggest thing about going q5 over 3 was I want the best riding comfortable one, less road noise . I’m worried with the 3 because it’s basically a vw . Also it’s not real Quattro and the snow we get is crazy so I want the best for that.

The Audi has a sewer grill in the front and looks like an angular cookie jar. The Benz looks far better to my eyes. So much for the design. It's of course a matter of taste.
I purchased the F-Pace the first year it was released and was disappointed in the overall quality. In less than 6 months the paint was chipping.
The Audi is a MILD Hybrid, which is not a full hybrid system. The biggest thing it does is simply support smooth auto start/stop
@@CarConfections That is educational, where did you find the info?
@@HumbleBearcat Audi provides us with our information from the corporate level
MDX vs GV80 soon?
MDX would probably win
@@ARUclipsChannelwithNoName I would of to disagree mdx cabin is not as nice as the gv80
Hopefully real soon! 👍
GV80 by a landslide ! Hyundai is showing out with their Genesis line 👌🏽
MDX FOR LIFE!!!!!
Take x3 3.0d xdrive with some additional features. That will be the best option.
Until they Redesign the GLC, im going w the Q5.
But Q5 still has the oldest dashboard in the line-up ..with that Tablet stuck on top instead of Q8 & even Q3 style...
Audi definitely
The Audi might be the choice for everyone who is not a mercedes fan or wants a allaround good SUV. If you like mercedes a lot or you want to pose a bit then go for it. When you want a solid SUV without attention then go for the AUDI.
I always thought Q5 is equivalent to X5 to GLE.
Audi's 3,5,7: BMW's 3,5,7: Merc C,E,S..
No Q7 comparing to X5 and GLE. Q5 is a middle class SUV atleast categorised here in Europe.
If purchasing the Audi will retain value better.
Mercedes ac smell after about 4 years there cabin filter needs to be put elsewhere
Don't forget Audi hybrid battery warranty is 160 000km/8 years while Mercedes only gives 100 000km/6 years.
Very good review
Very well detailed
Congrats
Both are very awesome cars very good quality and fun to drive Mercedes if you want to feel comfortable and audi if you like to drive around more
How much of a step up would one of these be from a Mazda CX-5?
Between those, I would go for the GLC. But in that segment and price range my choice is the Alfa Romeo Stelvio
That car will be worth 22k in 3-4 years . Why do anyone would want to buy a new car ? Just ranting lol
So that’s the only reason I’m getting a new vehicle for the first time
My company bought my Q5…so I could care less about value.
interesting analysis - over here in the Netherlands the facts get somewhat a bit skewed; the Mercedes glc is in average 10000k euro cheaper, for the same amount of equipment; also - the 200 and 300glc are actually mild-hybrid cars, with a small battery worth 7hp extra, which is used solely to help with starting and recovery. it's not much but this removes any lag, common in many turbocharged suvs and it makes the whole driving experience a lot more pleasant. i do like both, and would actually feel more inclined for the q5 aesthetics, but the mercedes interiors are vastly more luxurious and premium - lastely, with an extra 10k in your pocket, it's a no brainer. btw - due to the heavy carbon taxes, these cars are about 100.000 usd over here!!!
Amazing comparison and I like the points system. Great work!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed!
Mercedes looking better
And way better interior, ill go with mercedes
Спасибо за обзор. Всё понятно и по существу. У меня GLC 300, но хочу купить AUDI Q5. Теоретически - Mercedes солиднее, но AUDI спортивнее. Попробую обе машины, сравню, поделюсь своим мнением 😉
Nu podelis’ :)
Thankyou for review the cars and the prices it really help out a lot . Thank my friend you are doing great
Thanks, maggie! Glad you enjoyed!
Thanks for the very informative video
Glad you enjoyed!
Audis have looked the same for the last 20 years, just different lights and the grills keep getting bigger. Must be the shock from looking at that beautiful Mercedes.
There's some truth to that, but MB grin grill is nothing to sneeze either :D
Audi's I find have better fit and finish n their interiors versus Mercedes Benz. My mom's friend has a 2018 C-Class and the fit and finish in that car is honestly not as great as what you would find in Lexus or Audi.
for the sedans I agree but not in this segment..GLC crushed the interior on the Q5..super outdated and the iPad stuck on top of the vents is awful
Today I would go with the GLB rather than the GLC. It’s more up to date with the overall looks and you get slightly more room.
You actually get less. The GLB is 1.4" and 1.7" less than the GLC.
the 2020 glc was tweaked and now it does 0-60 in 5.4 sec
almost bought the Merc...but ended liking the Q5 slightly better and bought
How do you like it? Looking at the q5 or the q3... coming from a c class .
@@oxysz Get the Q5. Awesome vehicle...our 3rd one. We wanted to try something different in either the Mercedes or BMW..but came back to the Q5. It was the most comfortable and just seemed to be slightly better in most categories. Most important was comfort for long trips. First trip 1030 miles did not disappoint. Got 26.5 MPG and averaged 75-79 most of the time.
@@oxysz We also have 4 VW's in the family....never a problem. 3 Passats, 1 Tiguan 4matic. The most important thing is a set of dedicated snow tires...that makes all the world of difference even on the front wheel drive cars. The Audi is a step up and rides and accelerates much nicer than the Tiguan. Also more comfortable for me on these long trips. Difference in price was 49930.00 vs 34860.00. If you never drove the Audi and drove the Tiguan first I would have bought the Tiguan...Vw family have been good to us..Good Luck.
great comparison but I love my benz!!!
I’ve recently owned a Volvo XC60 2022 Mild hybrid, in 3 month it wouldn’t start around 30times. Hopeless.
Me and my family went on a road trip to Norway for vacation, and the morning we were going home, the car wouldn’t start.
Volvo bought flight tickets for my whole family to get home, but I had to fly back from Stockholm to get it a week later…
And yes, I’m Swedish, and I thought Volvo was gonna be a good car. But no no.
They couldn’t find what the problem was at least 5 times it went in for service…
Before my XC60, I owned a Audi A4 2019, and it worked perfectly for 3years straight. No problem at all!
I’m getting an Q5 now, I’ve tested the GLC several times, but not as good as the Q5.
I have the Q5, it’s amazing!☺️
Do u think the back seats have enough space for 2 car seats ? Or do you think this is a good small family car
@@jenessapinon3612 Hmm I would say it’s a good small family car! However, It would definitely fit two car seats with a little room in the middle...but if you don’t care about that then I say get the car if you are thinking about it lol😊 I purchased a 2019 model and it looks like the previous owners used two car seats and had no problem
@@Breonaleonard ahh okay i only need it to fit two car seats ☺️ so that’s perfect
Thanks for your input!
I like the Q5 between these two and I am waiting for the Genesis GV70 to make a decision
Please do a Ford F 150 limited review next please!!!
2021
I love my q5 quatro
Love Mercedes but can't get my mind around column shifter on the Merc. My mind says Chevy pick up shifter. Not luxury SUV 😒
Hey guys thank you for making our Sunday..... Funday....👍🏻😊🤩
That MB killing that Audi! #NotSorry
The Audi has a sewer grill in the front and looks like an angular cookie jar. The Benz looks far better to my eyes. So much for the design. It's of course a matter of taste.
Finally you made a comparison
We need more of these videos!!! Please keep making these comparisions!
Q5 for me
Question is...Where would the Jaguar F-Pace fall?
...it would fall about 80% in value over 3 years 😅
I purchased the F-Pace the first year it was released and was disappointed in the overall quality. In less than 6 months the paint was chipping. When closing the doors, instead of the solid sound you would expect to hear, it sounded like plastic rattling. I loved the appearance, but not the quality.
Audi...rocks
Great review guys😉

wow nice comparison
Audi Q5 the best!
