This trend away from physical buttons and going to a screen for everything needs to end. Same with just putting a flat screen for the gauges instead of incorporating the screen in a regular hood. Ugh.
MB hands down. I have taken both for a drive myself. The 2023 Q5 has the same feel as 4-6 year older models. If you want an Audi, buy a 4 year old model with a few clicks and save 1/2. You're getting virtually the same ride. Even new ford models (2023 Explorer) feel more modern! The 2023 GLC redesign makes the care feel like a modern vehicle. And for those that mentioned the fact that the GLC does not have "knobs" (lol 2023 not a 2010 made car !), you have the Mercedes voice assistant that you can tell your car to make most comfort adjustments anyway. MB hit it out of the park with the 2023 GLC. They just need to drop that darn fake exhaust. WHY more manufacturers are putting fake exhaust tips is mind blowing. STOP IT. LOL
Sorry but I disagree with your assessment. The 2022 facelift is greatly improved over the 2018 Q5, which I drove for 4 years. When looking for a new vehicle I was strongly inclined towards the X3, also because I wanted a change. However after driving the 2022 Q5 it was a very perceivable difference over the 2018, being peppier, better fuel economy, with better sound insulation, suspension with less body roll while absorbing the bumps better, and the full touchscreen was a nice addition along with auto high beam and 360 camera. I was honestly surprised thinking it was just a facelift. It beats the X3 in all aspects that are important to me. The new GLC still seems to fall behind, unless someone prefers its interior design, because on the exterior the Q5 still looks better IMHO. My kids would complain about the lack of 3rd A/C zone on the GLC.
Just purchased the Q5 today after watching your review. It just feels like an amazing vehicle. Mercedes aftercare is so expensive. Super excited to start driving my new Q5
As an Audi lover, I personally think you can't go wrong with any. I wanna see the GV70 get compared with the suvs in this segment. It seems to offer a lot of standard features including a powertrain with 300hp!
Team Q5 all of the way!!🔥 I’ve had my audi for a little over two years now and I love it. I’m currently in a rental with this exact Mercedes and I’m not impressed. (I was rear ended last month but the other party’s insurance is taking care of everything) All of the plastic in the Mercedes looks cheap to me and I don’t like that everything is all touch screen. It’s not convenient when you are driving
As a person who is interested in leasing only, the Q5 is much more attractive (as of June 7, 2023) where it's $519 compared to $699 for the GLC300 over 36 months with a comparable 5K due at signing.
Who ever thought a Black, big,Shiney Console in an SUV was a great idea... I do think, as an Audi owner,..the mercedes has a lot more style overall,..its time for the q5 to do a major restyle. 😊
When the wife drove the 3 in the segment..Q5, GLC and BMW 3 they all were very close. We had a 13, 17 and now 21 Q5 and typically log about 100k miles in 4 years and then trade. They have been flawless and when I drive it I put it in Sport mode tuning which slightly changes the suspension and steering which is perfect for me. when she's not in the car I use the sport mode on the tranny and it livens it up some. Not as much as our SQ5 but works for the majority.
@@Jassman3536 Thanks. I heard a lot people doing the same. It seems that people believe it is beneficial to do oil change every 5000 miles while Audi's recommendation doesn't make sense. BTW, $65 for oil change and tire rotations is a bargain these days.
very good video, even so I think I would personally go for the Mercedes because of the difference in luxuries it maintains, now compare against the genesis gv70 3.5t prestige advance
They’re both great, I ended up going with the 2024 GLC because it was just refreshed and the Audi will be getting a refresh next year and I didn’t want to wait to compare the two.
Great comparison review guys 👍 Audi Q5 definitely needs a complete change for it's interior. Right now I have 2018 Q5 and don't see any reason to upgrade. Same boring interior since ages. But the drivability and comfort with Q5 is just awesome. Thank you so much for the video 🙂
i have a 2017 A4, looking to get an SUV. Nothing has changed in the Audi interior since 2017. I don't see a reason to get the Q5. My wife has the new C class - the interior update makes the GLC worth it to me
I'm probably a bit biased since i have a 22 SQ5 Prestige but at least in the SQ5 with the Napa quilted sport seats, carbon fiber, and alcantara in the doors...while it feels a bit minimalist, it is really well put together and the materials feel quality. I feel that it looks a bit sportier than the MB and the MB looks a bit like it's going more luxury. The sparse/minimalist feeling is classic German. I may be in the minority but I still like the look of the interior - minus maybe the tacked on nature of the screen and the new little useless cubby where the MMI knob used to be. The newer MB interiors seem to be (smartly) taking into account what the Chinese market is looking for. End of the day, doubt you can go wrong with either. There are a few things that annoy me though. Not sure how many of these apply to the regular Q5. The door handles, while functional, should be wrapped in something softer. Hard plastic, especially at the $74K mine rang in at, isn't great. Having to downgrade out of the sports seats to get the cooled seats...dumb. Having to add the summer package (which downgrades the seats) is also the only way to get the rear sunshades. The 8 speed in the SQ5 is actually a little embarrassing. It is not smooth at all. The engine start-stop is really rough. I'd like a bit more customization capability in the infotainment as far as function control all over the car (my wife's Telluride puts the Q5 to shame in that regard). Remote start would be nice. The 19 speaker B&O sounds pretty good but I haven't found a setting yet I love. Center storage space is pretty awful. And why did they remove the rear underfloor storage and drop the floor to where there is a load ledge versus the 8/8.5 Q5s of the 2010s. Would I buy it again? Good chance. Although, sometimes I feel like I would like a little sportier X3 m40i or even stretch to a X3M versus the all-rounded nature of the SQ5. I wish I would have looked at the GV70 3.5T a little more. Do I regret the purchase? Not really. Allrounder, it is a great vehicle and I've had no actual issues so far. The MB and BMWs certainly have their share of shortcomings, too.
So today I got to drive the Audi Q5 and compare it to my Mercedes GLC300. The Audi is a smooth ride but a very noisy ride. The GLC is much more comfortable ride for me and is quiet all around. I will say my GLC has been having issues since I purchased it... The electronic parking brake not disengaging so when I put it in gear after not driving for 2 or 3 days it feels like I am hitting something. Already had a check Engine light about 3 months after purchasing. Hoping to get it all resolved. All in all... I prefer the drive in the GLC and hoping Mercedes can fix the issues.
Funny! My daughter just bought an SQ5 and I bought a GLC300 I had a 3016 GLC300. A Ford 150. Rear ended me at 55 mph Both vehicles were totaled. The Benz took the brunt of the impact to save my life. I am fully confident in them. I bought a new 2023. I love it
I think either would be a good choice. I bought the 2023 Q5 for a couple of reasons. One, it seemed quicker and more responsive in traffic. Secondly, and this is just personal, I have an A6 and I liked having the interior controls very similar when going from one to the other. I have to admit, the GLC 300 is really beautiful and drove well.
Q5 does it for me. The quattro alone is unmatched. The suspension is incredible, way better than the Mercedes. No doubt Audi has the best suspension across all their models. Traded in my Glc.
I have a 2021 Q5. Overall I like it but I wish it has remote start (MB and BMW has it now). Audi is still claiming it's not popular in German. Also, you can't lock the doors if you get out. for example you pull up to a 7-11 and your dog is in the car and you want to leave the car running... you can't. either leave it unlock or turn it off
Good reviews, my suggestion is to talk to owners of each vehicle in your own city and how they were treated by the dealer. As an audi owner for years the dealers in the 90s and early 2000s were awful, arrogant and unsupportive. Competition and a smack to the head by someone has turned that around completely, but the local dealer for service/warranty support/recalls/attractive pricing can be the deal killer or not.
Yes, here is an example of how a Chicago Audi dealership (where I bought my Audi A4) in 2010 treated me. My new A4's glove compartment was defective at 3 months old; the glove compartment's door would not latch closed and hung open. The dealership told me I had to pay to fix it because I must have done something to break it. I had not done anything to it, and the car was 3 months old and under warranty. After arguing with me, they finally agreed to fix the glove compartment without charge. The service person I was dealing with told me I would have to call the service manager and thank him for his generosity in fixing the glove compartment without charge. I refused, and they fixed it anyway without charge, but I never forgot that, and I never bought an Audi again. Every Mercedes dealership has always treated me well
Audi all the way , the all touch screen is a meh for me and where having physical bottoms it feels more natural and user friendly than all touch screens. plus Q5 is more minimalist and simpler , the GLC is too flashy inside.
i've got a 2023 Q5 as a loaner from the Audi dealership a seven speed dual clutch transmission is garbage at low speeds. Super choppy when you're starting off.
Q5 should be the winner. Driving dynamics is very good. Not bmw like but it’s close. I find it to be very quiet and the b&o sound system on premium plus trim is worth it 🔊
I find the GLC interior way too gaudy - too many different materials used and some too bright. The GLC is bright disco versus the Q5 gentleman’s club. I bought the SQ5 with air suspension.
Great comparison! I drive a GLC 300 coupe (2023) and my husband drives a 2021 fully loaded package 2022 Audi Q5. I love both! It’s a pleasure driving it either way.
