  • Great overnight hiking camp on the fringe of the Alpine region. Always good to get away from the world and surround myself in nothing but amazing Aussie bush. Set up camp on top of a funnel web spider too, enjoy!

    What's better, tent camping or swag camping? Let me know in the comments to help me plan my trips ✌🏻

      Hammock camping is definitely my preference. Definitely not swag as they make me feel claustrophobic - I like to have space between me and the top of my shelter.

    • @outandabout_oz
      @outandabout_oz  3 месяца назад +1

      Yeah I get that. I always leave the door of the swag wide open even when it's sub-zero because I feel claustrophobic when it's all zipped up. I do use my hammock when I can't find flat enough ground and like it, but always end up not sure what to do with my gear.

    Beautiful, beautiful country. Nice looking gear, you sport. The backpack does seem a bit tight. I'm amazed your wife doesn't know about the amazing videos you produce. She's missing out on a talented part of her husband.
    I'm in favor of calling you B². You know, Brass Balls...who eats, drinks, sleeps, and walks around bare footed next to the world's deadliest spider...amazing.
    I've tent camped for 50+ years. Your swag set-ups and camps has gotten me interested in swags. So last fall, I purchased a swag, along with a stretcher, to change up my camping experience. I, for one, would love to see more swag camping, but I fear the reasons for that are purely selfish. I'll be watching your channel regardless of your choice. My best wishes to you, stay safe until next time, cheers mate.
    P.S.
    Italy....NICE get away!

      Cheers mate, thank you for the great comment, really appreciate it. Hope you're finding the new swag as great as I expect you are. I am heading out again tonight and was going to go for a hike through a bunch of old pioneer huts in the mountains, but I'll load up the swag instead. Haven't taking it out for a couple of months....It will be super luxurious after the hikes.
      Thanks again, happy trails and I hope to keep you entertained with my meagre video offerings ✌🏻

    4 weeks in Italy sounds pretty darn good too :)

      🙂 yeah, very peaceful spot to pull up for the night, not a sole around which is what I like. Yeah, Italy to escape the Canberra winter does sound pretty good 🙂. Thanks for dropping back in ✌🏻

    Thanks for taking us along. Nope... I would NOT be sleeping knowing a funnel web spider was outside my door. 🕷
    So Kudos to you. 👏
    Swag versus Tent... For me that would be two different situations.
    Tent for o'night hikes or kayaking. Swag for car camping, under the awning or a tarp. Enjoy Italy! 😁

    • @outandabout_oz
      @outandabout_oz  3 месяца назад +2

      yeah, that's how I play it, but lean towards the swag....basically will pack the hiking gear only if I can't get my car where I need to go. It's a comfort and getting old thing I suspect 😛
      You get out and about in this great country enough to know the creepy crawlies generally leave you be if you don't pester them...but I did cover her up pretty carefully. I wasn't 100% sure when I first noticed but she was there in the morning right at the entrance, pretty big too 🙂
      Thanks for stopping by and taking a minute to leave a comment, appreciate you and hope your adventures are going well, I'll check in in a tick ✌🏻

      Thanks Dane, yeah, I do that from time to time too, usually with a divvy our something to keep the bugs away. Tarps are the most useful bit of kit you can take! Thanks for stopping by and thanks for the comments, appreciate it ✌🏻

      Ha Ha Ha, yeah, didn't think of that although I did put another couple of rock on it when I thought, hmmm, maybe it could push the one stone aside. They are everywhere at the moment, I was out last weekend and saw a bunch more. Must be a geed yeah for them 🙂 Thanks for stopping by and appreciate you taking a minute to leave a comment ✌🏻

    I have a light 1-person tent for backpacking, & I’m considering getting a swag for car camping. There’s a company in Utah that sells 23Zero here in the states!

      @outandabout_oz  3 месяца назад +3

      Do it, you won't look back. They are super comfortable and easy to use. 23 Zero are a great brand, I have had mine for years and it is still pristine ✌🏻

    Haha, rock on funnel Web 😂 I reckon you might need a bit lighter gear - especially if you start traipsing out in Bimberi, which I can't wait watch!
