American here. I bought a swag last year after watching videos like yours. Swags are not very popular here. I've camped for a while and camping in a swag has been my most enjoyable experience! Your videos are terrific and make me a little envious of the locales you're able to explore and experience.
Ha ha ah, yeah our locals are pretty cool, but everywhere has their own locals which entertain. Doesn't surprise me that you're enjoying the swag, they are a great way to experience the outdoors and they are getting fancier all the time. Thanks for the feedback and the awesome comments, really appreciate it! Have a great weekend ✌🏻
I have a 23 Zero swag, go for it. I have a Dual 1100 which is mid sized, love it. They have one called Bandit (I think) with a third pole across the middle, I opted for the full opening door. ✌🏻
Most importantly, best of luck with your skin treatments. Heal well! You can't understand the calming effect your swag videos have on my soul. 20 years a paramedic and 5 a cop, I sometimes feel disconnected from people. I've seen such ugliness and blatant disregard for others' well-being that I'd just like to hit the flush button on evil. Watching your videos with you, setting up your swag, sitting in it, eating or drinking in it just returns my soul to something more human again. Thank you for this redemption. I'm indebted to you. My most sincere best wishes for you and your family. Cheers with many thanks!
🙏🏼 Wow, thanks for this amazing feedback, so glad I can bring this bit of calmness to you. I worked in emergency response for 15 years (not frontline) but I know the tough emotional toll our paramedics and police have to bear. Hope I can continue to give you a few moments to turn your mind off every couple of weeks. All the best, people are amazing and do amazing things to help others. Glad you're one of those that do, keep smiling stay safe✌🏻
Very well said!! I agree with you 100%. 30+ years in the cops, been there done that with regard to evil and inhumanity. It was getting worse as the years ticked by. Great therapy from ‘out and about’ videos and camping sites takes you to another place in time. Great work by Chris to deliver a no frills channel for escapism. 👍
Been inspired by your channel to give solo swag camping a spin. Heading off to a new area in central Vic tomorrow after a half day at work. Fingers crossed 🍀
yeah, good one. Country Victoria is full of amazing places. Solo camping is so good to reset the brain, enjoy it all. Thanks for stopping by and taking a minute to leave a comments, really appreciate it. Have a brilliant weekend ✌🏻
I think the rain was the best part, nice to get a huge storm with tons of lightning and thunder without being blown to shreds so you spend the whole time tying down the trap 😛 The face is pretty muck back to normal now 🙂 Thanks for checking in again ✌🏻
Excellent camp out for sure. Got your tarp up just in time...nice to stay dry. Otis would not have been happy with any thunder. Always neat to have a good close encounter with the locals! lol Just not a bear here in Nova Scotia! lol Take care and enjoy the coming weekend.
Ha Ha Ha. yeah everyone always thinks we have dangerous animals, but you have bears! I did see some Black Bears when I was over there a while back, simply amazing experience. Doggos and thunder are always an interesting mix, our cat goes nuts too! Nice the hear from you and thanks for tanking a minute to check in, really appreciate it. Have a great weekend too ✌🏻
I moved to Adelaide 2 years ago from Liverpool, UK with my family. Fallen in love with camping, especially swag camping. I don't get out as much as I would like due to various reasons but when I am in the middle of a camping drought (couple of months) I scratch my camping itch with RUclips videos. Really enjoy your videos, just as much as Scottys gone walkabout and the Silly Swagman. Currently watching this video swinging in my hammock under the carport. Look after yourself mate and thank you.
Swinging in the hammock, that's brilliant! Yeah, Scotty and Swagman are very good, we have lots of great camping content in Australia and I spend far too much time living vicariously through others. So many amazing places all around the world and lots of great people sharing them. ...as an aside, my best mate is from Liverpool and he is a Reds tragic. He came out in '86, no need to explain the significance of that I guess, Craig Johnston etc. Hope you get a chance to get out and about soon, the hills outside Adelaide are top shelf. Thanks for stopping by and dropping me a line, appreciate it ✌🏻
@@outandabout_oz yeh defo a pretty horrific part of the Liverpool's history. Yeh the Adelaide Hills are pretty stunning. Thanks for the reply and I'll continue living vicariously through you and others until I can get out again. Keep doin what you're doin. Take care

Thanks Jojo, glad you could come along again. the face is pretty much back to normal thankfully! Yep, enjoying the movies, might even dig the books out again 🙂 Keep smiling ✌🏻
great camp as usual mate, love a great swag set up under a tarp with rain pouring down outside and dude that face looked angry hope it get on the mend soon
Nice camp Chris. Thanks for the shout out and recommendation! Your poor face looked very sore. I hope it’s all healing well. That storm certainly built up to something and good to see your equipment and shelter held together. That moth was enormous.
Cheers Alex, and no worries about the shout out, I really enjoy your videos and am about to dive into the one you loaded up the other day. Face is totally back to normal for the most part, worth the annoyance I guess ✌🏻
Another American here! Another great video! I’ve been watching your videos and about to pull the trigger on a swag. I believe you have the 23Zero Dual Swag. Is that correct? Knowing what you know now would you select the Dual swag again? I’m really liking what I see. I am about 90% going with the Dual. 100% on 23Zero.
heya, thanks for stopping by, hope I can help you pull that trigger. Swags are awesome ways to camp first of all. 23Zero make great swags. The best thing I like about them is you don't have to season them to seal the canvas. There are lots to choose from (down here at least) and they are all very much in the same model. Yep, mine is a Dual 1100. The dual is good because it doesn't have the middle pole so you can have the door wide open and getting in and out is easy. Lots of storage inside and the floor is totally waterproof and think. I love it, you won't be disappointed! I might do a video about all the features one day. Good luck, you'll love it ✌🏻
Good trick for olive oil mate. Get one of the kids pop tops, clean it out real good and fill it with your olive oil. Doesn't spill! Great videos mate and best of luck with your skin treatments. I live in North West Victoria and the summers are brutal here, sunscreen is a must!
yeah, that part of the world is crazy hot. I grew up south western NSW and can't figure how I survived it! Good tip with the olive oil, I'll try that. The Bottles I bought were fine...until you used them 😛 Thanks for stopping by and taking a minute to leave a comment, appreciate it ✌🏻
Great video! Do you always put a tarp up over your swag if expecting rain? Do you think it’d be ok without it? That would certainly give you a bit more protection & some extra room to spread out.
yeah, if there is a chance of rain or if I expect condensation I put up a tarp. So basically there are a few nights in the middle of summer when I might not. It's a lazy thing really. The swag is totally waterproof and is brilliant in high wind (better than a tarp in fact), but I hate packing it up wet and muddy, hence the tarp. Mind you, I like using the tarp without the swag too if I am not able to get my car to the campsite. Thanks for checking back in, have a great weekend ✌🏻
@@outandabout_oz Thank you! I’m gaining as much knowledge about swags as I can…I’ll probably get one before summer (here in the states). You have a good weekend, too!

the tarps I use are from DD Hammocks out f the UK but there are resellers here in Australia. Great gear. 23 Zero also do the same sort of thing as well. I suspect any good quality nylon tarp we serve you well ✌🏻
Enjoyed that. Some mad sounds from the birds...was that all from the kookaburra?? And wow...monitor lizards and a giant moth. Some things I am grateful for Ireland being mostly cloudy and rainy...so scary critters (although I do like lizards and enjoyed seeing them all over Asia) and no sunburn (well, not much 😂) Hope your recent bout of that heals up soon and doesn't cause you too much more discomfort 🙏 btw, the swag looks amazing...wish I could fit something like that in my rucksack 😜
Ha Ha Ha, nah, none of those guys are at all scary, even the Goanna. That was a small one, about 3-4 feet but the grow up to 2m. They are pretty chilled because nothing is really a threat to them. The Bogong moths are awesome too. Thanks for stopping by and thanks for taking a second to leave a comment. Appreciate it ✌🏻
Recently got the 23Zero dual 1400 swag. Coming from a 23Zero walkabout RTT, I have to say the swag is by far my favorite. Love the videos! Where did you get your tarp?
Thanks Matthew, glad you finding the swag so good, couldn't;t agree more they are the best way to camp if you can do it. The traps I use of shelter are both DD Hammocks tarps. One is 3m x 3m, the other 4m x 4m. They are brilliant, 4 year in and they are still gin strong ✌🏻
3m x 3m was the tarp in this video, but I also have a 4m x 4m version too. They're both DD Hammocks brand and I have had them for years and they are still as good as the day I bought them. Thanks for the great feedback too, appreciate it ✌🏻
Probably the most common non-Aussie comment you get but do you get lots of spiders or other deadly things on your camps?? One of the biggest wins NZ had over Aussie for me when I immigrated was my love for hiking & camping or just generally wondering about outside & the amount of times I've heard people say spiders just get into everything was the biggest NOPE for me😂😅 I've heard some people say recently it's not as bad as people make it out to be & that in some areas you'll never even see a snake or spider but I don't know.. those clock spiders have me terrified😂😂
Ha Ha Ha, yeah, there are a lot of things that can cramp your camping style. Snake generally don't want anything to do with people and will scurry away if you give them space. Spiders can crawl anywhere though. They're all over the place and a lot of them will make you sick if you get a bite. I always have first aid gear at hand. Thanks for stopping by, appreciate you taking a minute to reach out too ✌🏻
