Definitely go for the Mazda. Unfortunately the Mazda 3 is not always available in the pure i.c. setup: for example in my area they are pushing their mild hybrid powertrains which might not be a long term wise choise: more things to break.
The Ford Escape has also had a price reduction for the '25 model year. However, it has also reduced standard options and dropped some options completely.
These price increases show how out of touch the CEOs really are. That being said, you said the QX80 is old, it just got completely redone, same with Carnival and a few others but it doesn't justify a 10% or any increase
Many of these models have a history of mechanical troubles, outdated technology or are severe gas guzzlers. With consumers whacked by high interest rates, student loan debt, high housing, food, insurance costs and its little wonder cars are rotting on lots. So what do the car companies do? Jack up prices 10-20%. Are these manufacturers on a economic suicide mission?
When are these used vehicle prices going to drop? I've been looking for a HD truck for almost a year now. Dealers are still close to Invoice or msrp on these trucks no matter what the miles or trim levels. No sales or incentives during the regular times of year for deals, and sales people aren't even willing to bend $1k on used trucks. They wont even budge on price even if they have been sitting on it for over a year. They always say it's the best price or that there prices are competitive. Are they selling cars or collecting cars?
It only matters if you play the game. The best thing to do in my opinion is to find a older simpler car non turbo charged , multipoint fuel injection, Manual transmission, pre video control system, and fix it up , take care of it , keep it in the garage and not outside. Watch the masses going crazy Paying ridiculous monthly car payment while their new cars turn to crap.
He messed up on the Forrestor because he said 51 grand and the price on the screen is 31 Grand. So the Forrestor is the one of the best prices for an SUV that has a good history / reliable.
Prices may be increasing globally, but how does the New and Used car sales in the Canadian market compare to history ? If it's not changed it means these price increases are having little effect on the average consumer. In South Africa for example, new car sales are slightly down - so whats it for Canada ?
They just are not responding to the reality of people's financial situations. The only things that's going to give here is the manufactures will go bankrupt. We're going to turn into Cuba with keeping 70 year old cars on the road out of necessity.
We won't be owning cars like Cubans in the future.Based on what I see hear and read,I think the US is going to be rebuilt as an urban society where most people live the car free city way like New Yorkers. Those lucky enough to be able to own cars are going to be stuck with Chinese EV,,'s.
I honestly don’t follow the trends. That’s why I watch your videos. To stay on top of these things. Overall I am not surprised as it seems manufacturers are finding ways to get back their losses from jumping headfirst into developing an all ev lineup. Mini’s new direction under BMW is one in particular I’m bothered by because I’m not a fan of the new direction they’re going. No more manuals, no more center mounted exhaust, heavier and bigger. Moving away from the ethos of an affordable, small and fun to drive ultimate hot hatch.
Thanks Mario and that’s totally true it seems like all OEMs are getting away from stock which is truly frustrating for the enthusiast. That’s a big part of cars these days, more safety requirements drive the need for more equipment, which then drives the need for more power to move them down the road, which then drive up the complexity which in turn drives up reliability concerns and maintenance issues. Viscious cycles and it continues. The EV market has also ruined the cost effectiveness potential of the cars as the ICE tech is paying for the R&D. We are the lab rats. If a person has a fun car at this time, it’s best to hold onto it for awhile yet.
I see new vehicles with paper tags from dealer more now than I’ve seen. Not cheap vehicles either. Dealers will keep charging these prices if people buy $100k vehicles daily.
Question to ask is with the MSRP increases what does that mean for used car prices. If buyers can’t afford an 80-100k new vehicle and have a choice to buy 5-8yr same model for $50-60k.
Mazda is killing it right now. They have become my new favorite brand even over Toyota. Glad to see Mazda doing the right thing and not gouge their customers.
Inflation on vehicles does not stack up to what these vehicles are selling for. This is car companies trying to make up for their losses on electric vehicles. Base f150s at 54k ans magically they cant take off 10k in an instant to sell its ridiculous.
I cannot believe people are paying a vehicle that is the down payment for a small home. As long as people are paying over $40k for a vehicle, the price will continue to go up.
Auto CEOs can really take advantage this time by cutting their prices in hard economic times and they cut their salaries by similar percent 20% or so, saying we're in it together. They would sell some cars.
Why would they do that? They want to make as much money as the customers are willing to pay just like pro athletes who are making ridiculous salaries. As long as stupid people who are paying over $40k for vehicles, they will not.
If Ford came out with a “Grand Explorer”, I mean with a functional 3rd row with more shoulder room like the Toyota Grand Highlander, I’d buy it… I need a bigger vehicle I can use to haul everyone in the same car…
Higher prices mean much lower sales. It's pretty clear that people are making less each year while the cost of everything is going up. Good luck, auto companies. Prepare for the lowest sales in history. Do not buy any new cars and see what happens

The Supra is a bit different. At even theoretically $150K CDN, all of them will sell because those are not "mass produced" when compared to a common daily driver. Toyota knows exactly what will happen with Supra. They will all sell and instantly become collector vehicles because of price, rarity, and possibly no longer in production.
