Bullet trains are just out of this world 🌍Thanks for the insight David. You have inspired me to travel INDIA 🇮🇳 from AUSTRALIA 🇦🇺 and see the things you have seen! It really means a lot 😊
Come after 5 years, Many indian cities will be in a better shape as all of them are going through infrastructural changes. By then, India will have a bullet train, Most of indian trains will be modernised(for ex. look for Train 18 on youtube, train 19, train 20, train 21, etc are set to arrive in couple of years), most of the metro cities will have extensive network of metro trains and just projects such as those are in development to reduce the chaos. Don't visit old delhi and varanasi, it reeks of plain filth and dirt. Visit rest of india. Go to kerala if you want to enjoy the greenery, if you go maharashtra, visit the hill stations at outskirts of mumbai and pune as both are at few 100s km of distance and any other state which is on your list.
Tushar D yes I am very excited for the future of India as I know they have so much room for improvement👍 I caught the Delhi metro yesterday and was extremely happy with the way it works. A very modern piece of technology and it worked very well. I am currently in Goa making my way down south slowly. It is beautiful here, it feels like a tropical island 🏝 India is so diverse it is incredible. Thanks for the comment
Yo I know I‘m late, but this technologly is called „Transrapid“ and it was invented in Germany in 1980. But because of high costs and an accident with a service wagon the project was abandonned. 2 years before the crash, China has bought the Transrapid technology for Shanghai for exactly that route you‘ve been riding in the video. So yes the technoglogy is 20 years older than you thought. So almost 40 years old, now. - greetings from Germany :,)
I am sorry for the late comment but just so you know if you guys do have a flight ticket, and if you show the flight ticket to the cashier then you will automatically get a 10 RMB discount, which means you will only need to pay 40 RMB rather than 50 RMB for an economy ticket. For the speed, Shanghai Maglev, each day, has hours that operates at a speed of around 320km/h, and hours that operates at a speed of around 420km/h. You can see the operating hours at the train station - you can literally see when the train will be operated at 320km/h or 420km/h.

I think it's 50 RMB if you show your airplane ticket. Also you can take a 30 minutes subway ride from the maglev train station to Peoples Square for 4 RMB.
I rode this a few times. It is smooth BUT it moves quite a bit left to right and can be quite shaky and more exciting than it should be. It is also close to the ground so when it gets up to speed it can make a nervous person even more nervous. Needs a lot of work!
Okay... Yes Yes Yes. Chinese Trains are fast as a Bullet. They are Glittery. Beautiful. Modern. Hygienic as a bloody military OR. But, I prefer the US Trains. Yup. They are creepy fun. US trains are exciting. They are Noisy. Stinky. Rusty. Smoky. Full of Graffiti. With vomits of all nationalities. From Mexican enchiladas to Japanese sushi. The US train is Thrilling like a horror movie and whitout "Beautiful" rural landscapes flash. On the other hand, on a Chinese train, you get on, you sit down and Nnnnñit! No. No. No. I rather to risk my life on a US train, but have something to tell my grandchildren. Traveling on a US train is a High-Risk Sport. In case the train derails... Excuse me. It's not "IF". The correct word is: "WHEN Derails". Mmh... Anyway:... blah, blah, blah...
Darn David. I was just in Shanghai less than 3 years ago. I went to the Grand Opening of Shanghai Disneyland and I totally forgot the Maglev existed. Instead when I arrived at PVG, I got suckered into paying for a $60 gypsy cab ride ride from some fake "Airport staff" person. I would have totally taken this to get into town. Oh well, lesson learned. Next time, I'll do it.
Don Jariyasunant These people are liars who cheat foreigners. Don't believe them easily. If you need help, please contact the staff in the airport uniform.
When I was a kid in the UK early 1970's magnetic levitation for passenger use vehicles was all the rage. Professor Eric Laithwaite was often on TV speaking about his discoveries. I thought before 2000 these would be common in the UK, instead, they are in China and Japan!
David, some simple tips to take taxi in Shanghai: 1) You took a "black" car, it's not safe, curious how much you paid? Based on location you should pay less than 100RMB if you took an official taxi 2) Take official taxi, blue, yellow, green all good, no RED taxi or any car with "X" on their badge (as they're private just a little bit better than "black" car), keep taxi receipt in case you want to complain or forgot anything on the car 3) Keep air ticket while buy Meglev you only need to pay 40RMB instead of 50RMB
Just to clarify a couple of things. I don't think the Maglev goes all the way into Shanghai, but rather from the airport to a station in the outer suburbs. There's nobody much on the train because the locals take the much cheaper suburban train from the airport. It's still a novel experience though.
It runs up to 430km/hr for several times a day, and 300 for the rest. you'll have to look up the timetable to catch the fast ones. Otherwise, it's not even faster than the high-speed railway.
Sounds like a $30 taxi ride is not a big deal for you then why didn't you get a hotel room? $100 can get you a decent hotel room in Shanghai. And the subway system is expansive in Shanghai so you can get to People's square (i.e. city center) fastly from anywhere in Shanghai if location is your concern.

We have such a train and a railway in Emsland/ Lower Saxony. But the train is Out of Action..... Transrapid Maglev. The prototype of the Shanghai Maglev
Awesome blog and that’s so fast. That train is riding in air. Thank you for the great blog and lots of great view from your blog. You are like a little boy riding a train for the first time and that facial expression is awesome.
guys many of them still claiming france or japanese are faster than china i had no idea which is faster in world for transportation human not empty test drive speed
Chutiya hai kya. Jab woh China ghum raha hai to India ko beech me ghused ne ki kya jarurat hai? Chup karke video nahi Dekhi jaati kya ya China ki tarrakki se jalan ho rahi hai?
If you are in a train with mostly young people you don't hear much noise because they prefer to text like Wechat rather than talking or they are engrossed in playing video games with their ear plug on. The old Chinese speak even louder when they are getting hard of hearing.
For once, this phenomenon is bi-partisan. Who knows, though. Maybe Biden's infrastructure plan will upgrade the Acela Express and the NER. The Socialist Democrats aren't the usual politicians.
Hi David Nice to know about the maglev. I have a 16 hrs layover in Shanghai, flying from nyc to Delhi. Can you suggest any place to try out local food ?
went on this in 2008, 285 mph. funny with speedometer in the car the men just flipped out! The women looked at us as if we were little boys! we've ridden the Japanese Shinkansen often and many trains in Europe, but that was exciting! I love Shanghai, especially "old town!"
I don’t know why you got only 300 perhaps the timing or the weather? I rode it once and I remember it went up to 420 something and it was like flying low
So what. In India, we have slowest train at an average speed of 42kmph. Bagh express 03020. 😀😀 Some may even slower than this but I m writings this comment while traveling in the mentioned train. 😂😂
People who say that this is German tech and that they stole it are real fools. Watch the video. No one else has this train in service currently except China. They just jealous that they don’t have a maglev. What a shame
It is German tech. But the Chinese didn't steal it, they bought it from Germany. This is a Transrapid made by Siemens AG and ThyssenKrupp Transrapid GmbH. It was bought in 2002.
I rode the Maglev in 2014. It was regular class. Fun ride, but it's mostly like an amusement park ride since it ends well before you get to the main area of Shanghai. Hardly anyone else on the train, and I was shocked at how cheap the interior looked. It was like like someone draped bath-towels over the seats.
fixpacifica just a fun fact, this maglev train was an experiment back in the days when china was deciding on which technology they should go for: the maglev or the one with tracks. So they built a 8mins ride in shanghai, and a short length of the other type from beijing to tianjin. At the end, obviously the gov decided to go with the latter which has been built across whole china nowadays. I guess it was because of the fact that maglev in shanghai was just an experiment, hence they didnt care to put too much money on the interiors.
Let's be honest. This train is a Transrapid TR08, build and patented by Siemens and ThyssenKrupp. The Chinese wanted the technology, so that's why they decided to buy the track and the train from Germany. There where plans to extend the track. But the chinese government cancelled the project because they've got what they wanted: The maglev technology.
Hi David, I am going to shanghai at the of august and I wanted to know how you got the taxi to get to lens's place. because i need to get to the railway station from the airport so i need to know what is the best choice to get to the railway station.
they reduce the speed to save money. Is much less expensive. Due the lack of success and because is to expensive for most of the locals. its 430 km/h at peak time only
Should have taken the subway rather than taxi, much cheaper and faster with no traffic! The subways in Shanghai basically covers all over the megatropolis!
Why is it so empty the train and station? Is the train making a profit? I also watched videos of the Shinkansen in Japan, but they were always full of people.
@Chen Uy So why is the train empty? Are the Chinese so poor that they have not enough money to ride high-speed trains? Or did the Chinese government miscalculated demand?
David, Why don't you directly went to Shanghai from India? First you went to Miami and from there onwards to Shanghai. Is there any special cause? Could you please reply
Tech us from Germany back in 1983 when they along with Japan were working on it. Japanese trains can hit speeds close to that without having to levitate and Japanese maglev hits 600kmph. But again numpty like you wouldn't know.
Having ridden the high speed train from Beijing to Shanghai with speed up to 345 km/h, I wasn't impressed with the MagLev. MagLev is slower and not as smooth as the Fuxing train.
Hong Kong was a safe city that attracted a lot of tourists who went to Asia in the past. In consideration of the ongoing protests, I do not recommend travelling to Hong Kong at present. Instead, travellers may go to mainland China.

maintenance of the train, if you push it to 430km/h everytime. you will wear it out faster.

That is actually not the only Maglev in China, there's another one in Changsha City and serves as a express from the airport to main CRH station.

But China will launch another test trans project with newly developed maglev train by itself speeding at 600km/h later this year.
We have such a train and a railway in Emsland/ Lower Saxony. But the train is Out of Action..... Transrapid Maglev. The prototype of the Shanghai Maglev
Friesens Diecastcollection I know. Unfortunately we have sold the technology.
Your people invented this technology.
Awesome blog and that’s so fast. That train is riding in air. Thank you for the great blog and lots of great view from your blog. You are like a little boy riding a train for the first time and that facial expression is awesome.

Did he say he BROKE the camera lens, and he's going to return it for a refund?
He meant he'll return the new lens as it isn't wide enough.

"Unfortunately can't use uber" because the taxis in shanghai are so expensive right.
If you are in a train with mostly young people you don't hear much noise because they prefer to text like Wechat rather than talking or they are engrossed in playing video games with their ear plug on. The old Chinese speak even louder when they are getting hard of hearing.
Is this before covid? RUclips only shows "1 year ago mark"
Maglev train used for Transporting Seats
No one else has a maglev train because the airline, train and auto lobbies pay politicians to keep this mode of efficient transportation suppressed.
For once, this phenomenon is bi-partisan.
Who knows, though. Maybe Biden's infrastructure plan will upgrade the Acela Express and the NER. The Socialist Democrats aren't the usual politicians.
Incorrect actually the tgv duplex before this video has got to 574kph so your wrong

Do you use any gimbal and what lens?
267 mph
is there any side effect on your body while u inside the train? like headache or sum?
It’s the same feeling like in a normal High Speed train, so quite familiar.
The maglev train run with 301km/h only on weekends. Any other day it speeds up to 450km/h. Unfortunately i have taken this ride only at weekend twice.
Omg it is the fastest?? Had no idea, I did ride it from airport into the city 👍
No, the tgv in france hit 574kph and a japanese maglev hit 603kph
@@decc0484 its the record not the average speed that they are using
@@ghassencsetwow i know, but still not the fastest train (but fastest line speed isnt a very good title so i know why he said it)
gazardiel no it is, it will run at 500km/h
TCF it’s not

Hi David
Nice to know about the maglev. I have a 16 hrs layover in Shanghai, flying from nyc to Delhi. Can you suggest any place to try out local food ?

Which airline did you fly with?
went on this in 2008, 285 mph. funny with speedometer in the car the men just flipped out!
I loved the review of the Maglev.

wheres the top speed experience for us viewers to have a glampse of its performance? Too much talk about crap.
So what. In India, we have slowest train at an average speed of 42kmph. Bagh express 03020. 😀😀 Some may even slower than this but I m writings this comment while traveling in the mentioned train. 😂😂
Chinese infrastructure one of the best in I ever seen.
Really nice! Thanks for your video!

@@jonny2954 that’s right
the shanghai maglev isn't the fastest train in the world the fastest train in the world actually is the hyperloop it reaches a speed up to 1200 mph
Why get uber from longyang station, metro takes 14 minutes to people square and costs $1.....
@@jinniwind Yeah, it did feel like a demonstration project more than anything else. But it would be so nice if it brought you all the way into Pudong.
It’s not the fastest train it’s the TGV the fastest with 575 km/h
You're right... But also very wrong.
Past two of my old houses. Bought camera lens right next to middle school.

Isnt Japan's Shinkansen the fastest in the world at 603kmh?
they reduce the speed to save money.
@Y Even so, it's too empty. It's unlikely to be profitable.
@Chen Uy So why is the train empty? Are the Chinese so poor that they have not enough money to ride high-speed trains? Or did the Chinese government miscalculated demand?
TM Kim most are just poor...
David, Why don't you directly went to Shanghai from India? First you went to Miami and from there onwards to Shanghai. Is there any special cause? Could you please reply
He has a family dude. He needs to spend some time with his wife and kid too.
Tech us from Germany back in 1983 when they along with Japan were working on it. Japanese trains can hit speeds close to that without having to levitate and Japanese maglev hits 600kmph. But again numpty like you wouldn't know.
Hello David , u've taken a flight to Shanghai from Assam
From Korea I guess

Having ridden the high speed train from Beijing to Shanghai with speed up to 345 km/h, I wasn't impressed with the MagLev. MagLev is slower and not as smooth as the Fuxing train.
Nice video, thank You for sharing. Liked and subscribed your channel. Have a nice day.
David dude i watch all your videos
So, did it take you to over 400 km/hr? Sometimes it doesn't. Looks that it didn't get you to maximum speed.
Hong Kong was a safe city that attracted a lot of tourists who went to Asia in the past. In consideration of the ongoing protests, I do not recommend travelling to Hong Kong at present. Instead, travellers may go to mainland China.
How much distance will it cover in 8 minutes?
@贺潇 哥们他问的是距离。。。距离。
How much kilometres you have travelled during the train journey
Not too long, it connect one of the metro station to the airport. With metro , it's 1h ride, while in meglev, it's about 20min.
