@@JayandKarolina the prices are just in multiples, first class usually around 2x 2nd class, and business class 3-4x 2nd class. if you have a short trip, 2nd class can be below $10 so it's worth paying $30-35 for a business class seat just for the experience since it includes lounge and queue bypass. but for longer trips, 2nd class is honestly fine 😆. first class is definitely not worth 2x second class

FYI. the 2nd class seat of bullet train is good enough, and not much different from the first class seat except the price, while the business class seat is far better but around four times the price of the 2nd class seat. So maybe the 2nd class seat will always be the best choice.
I personally don't see the point paying for 1st class or business on Chinese high speed rail. 2nd class is good enough and you get bigger seats and more legroom that you would ever get in a 1st class UK train seat. Buy your own snacks and drinks before boarding the train and a couple of instant noodle bowls and take advantage of the free hot water in every carriage. This is the true China experience.
We might break the bank next time and try business class but tbh it doesn't seem worth it or value for money. First class was already a bit too expensive in my opinion. Second class I agree is probably the best value for money! Our train was quite early in the morning so we didn't have time to get snacks and drinks - we could of got it the day before but that's no fun haha
@@JayandKarolinaYou can experience high-speed rail business class on short journeys so as not to spend too much money, such as from Shanghai to Hangzhou, Shanghai to Suzhou.
@@JayandKarolina Well it made for a far more interesting video ordering KFC and local food on the train. I love how super friendly and helpful the staff were to you both. That is exactly what I have experienced in China myself each time I have visited. The people will do their absolute best to help you even if they cannot speak English and you cannot speak Chinese. Its a little easier these days with smart phones, Google Translate etc, but I'm old enough to remember visiting China before all that and it was a far more difficult experience but I still found people absolutely willing to help you. I love the country and its people so much.
@@JayandKarolina You need to compare it to flying and the time required or spent on your journey and add in taxi times and cost (e.g. from the airport to downtown). This is the reason I fly to BJ (from SHA) because even allowing for the taxis and extra time there are very cheap flights. However for traveling to my wife's home town (Wenzhou) from SHA we always go by train (station is 10 mins drive from home) as there is no major monetary saving either way, the train and experience is far more comfortable and convenient and we save time (arrive 20-25 mins before the train departs - they don't allow boarding until 10-15 mins before anyway - instead of 90 mins for a flight). Business Class on trains is the highest standard with lay flat, massage like, seats and usually only 4 seats to a cabin. Personally I don't see the extra value for short trips (under 3 hours) so always take 1st.
We did visit the Forbidden city in our second video in China. We expect to come back to Beijing not too far in the future as we had limited time on this trip!
Welcome to China, I read on Tiktok and then came to RUclips to catch up, it should be noted that there will be a lot of people traveling on the National Day, travel needs to be planned in advance, otherwise it may not be able to buy tickets, and finally wish you all the best and happy in the next trip❤
Jolly good to have you in China! From this video, one can see you chaps arrived in Shanghai on the fourteenth of September. I reckon you've since popped off to other parts of the country. Do come back to Shanghai for another jolly, won't you? There are heaps more surprises waiting for you here. If you're still knocking about in China, you absolutely must have a go at one of those clever self-driving motors (like AITO, for instance). It'll be absolutely smashing, I dare say!
We took the metro to the train station so we went through the underground entrance to the train platforms. If you are going through the main entrance it's a different way to the platforms - we didn't know how to get here from the metro and didn't have time to figure it out. You don't need to go to the main entrance but we would have liked to show the station inside but I guess this is more efficient and what most people will do (I think haha).

We unfortunately booked this through an agency a long time before we came to China. We now use trip.com which seems like the way to go. We booked it with the agency because we didn’t know if the tickets for first class would sell out and we thought they would send us the tickets earlier then trip.com (which you can only book 2 weeks out). I guess it’s nice for some people to have peace of mind and not worry about booking it but it’s more expensive and we didn’t get to choose our seat…still learning here in China!

US led western propaganda extended to gaming, apart from all the smearing before & after the game launch with those so-called "game reviews" by PR companies (ie ScreenRant) as well as attempts to recruit top Chinese streamers to do the same. There were also large amount of DDOS attacks on Stream during the first few days of launch which was over 20,000 time more than Stream DDOS daily average. This week many gamers around the world voted BM: Wukong for the GOTY candidate and became #1 by a huge margin, but IGN manipulated the voting data from 90% to 71% and dropped it to #3 spots in just one hour and more such covert actions later on. Their tweet asking fans about GOTY candidate question also didn't include BM:Wukong picture but included all the other top 4 games candidates. US led propaganda with billions US$ budget won't stop preventing ordinary people from finding out anything positive about this beautiful country. Last week the US has passed over 25 anti-China bills and they proudly called it a "China week," which should be called an anti-China week (but you know double speaking is in their blood...). One of the bill was to approve a budget of US$350 millions per year till 2028 for spreading anti-China propaganda globally. This bill is a continuation of another bill that expired in 2024 that passed in 2020 with US$300 millions per year budget. There was also another similar bill with US$500 millions each year.
I know why KFC on the train doesn't sell fries, because it takes a while from the time you place an order to the time you get it, and the fries won't be crispy, which greatly affects the taste. So they are not available on the train, but if you go to the store, they have fries.😊
hey bro great video. I’m here in Shanghai right now and I have been here more times than I can remember and I’m very familiar with the city. Regarding the huge crowd you saw around the East Nanjing Rd., my guess is that you ran into the tourist wave of a national holiday. It is absolutely not normal that you see such a crowd waiting for green light at a crossroad and requires so many policemen to guide the pedestrian traffic. Judging from when this video was posted I guess it could be the Mid-autumn festival where the whole country has a 3 or 4 day holiday. There are always HUGE amount of travelers from other parts of China come to visit Shanghai on national holidays except the Chinese New Year, when everyone goes home (a little like the Thanksgiving or Christmas).

KFC China serves tasty fried chicken, much better than KFC from many other countries and the pastel de nata from KFC China is indeed very good.
You are riding the Fu Xing (pronouced FOO 4th tone, SING 1st Tone) Model, that can travel at 400 kph and more! Its the newest model replacing the He Xie, the previous model that can do about 320 kph. Fu Xing has better seats and bigger and stronger overhead cabin luggage stowage than He Xie, glad you like them. But travelling 2nd class is tougher but you probably pay 50 bucks instead of the 140 for 1st Class. There is also the exclusive Business class with only 6 seats in the whole cabin. That, you will sleep in a cocoon, but will probably pay like 300 bucks for it!

KFC in China serve French fries too but for some reason they don’t include it on the train. I guess because the fries will lost its crispness and become soggy when it’s cold. Fries have to eat hot. Fun fact about KFC Egg tarts. They are based on Portuguese pasteis de nata but were a variation originally created by a British man, Andrew "Lord" Stow, based in Macau. He married a local lady who set up her own shop after divorcing form her husband and she sold her own version of the original recipe, which she then sold to KFC, which they continue to use to this very day. Its very common for a KFC meal in China to come with an egg tart for dessert. I love them so much.
The boarding check you went through is the fast-lane boarding check specifically for passengers arriving to the train station by subway, so you didn't come up to the main gate

Fully agree❤🎉
No wonder China is a rising super power. First class infrastructure & modern metropolis. Clean and safe cities. Land of abundance.
Did you leave Beijing without visiting the Great Wall, Tian 'anmen, the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace, etc.? It's a shame if that's the case...
This is the perfect video, I’m doing the same journey next weekend and was feeling a little unsure! Not now!
@@JayandKarolina That is very helpful! Thank you, we will likely be doing a similar route using the underground so it’s great to know that!

That express train journey is so uniquely worthy of it. It traveled close to a thousand miles! Wow.
When you purchased your tickets, you could have chosen your seat with full window view. You call the western style toilet the proper one. The squat toilet is far better for health than sitting down.

Black Myth: Wukong on the train NICE
I knew there would be people who knew what game that was - that’s why I kept the clip in haha!

It's so convenient to order food from the train. That's amazing!
I know why KFC on the train doesn't sell fries, because it takes a while from the time you place an order to the time you get it, and the fries won't be crispy, which greatly affects the taste. So they are not available on the train, but if you go to the store, they have fries.😊
The first class is not the most expensive actually. The business class is. Opposite of what’s on airplanes.
Karolina so beautiful and elegant, enjoy the trip!
The ticket ordering system is so easy to use!
@22:34, you don't know that lady carrying the yellow bag standing still there? I thought she was waiting to see you two.
hey bro great video.

The hole in the ground is also a proper toilet. It's an old style toilet in Asia where you squat to do your business. Soda Biscuits is what the Chinese called cracker. The term is also used in places like Malaysia and Singapore. On HSR, second class is definitely more value for money.

In China, most lights have a frequency of 50Hz. In your video, I noticed screen flickering. I suggest adjusting the frame rate or shutter speed to avoid the flickering, which would improve the viewing experience
I think the problem is that some lighting has 60Hz whilst the main frequency is 50Hz. My camera is set to 50FPS and has anti flicker on auto so it set up for PAL regions. I’ll double check this!

actually, it's much faster than that! Maximum speed is 350 km/h, Average is about 280 km/h.
