Queen almost didn't release "Another One Bites The Dust" as a single. Michael Jackson pushed them to do it.
David Platt had a middle of the night experience & wrote what became the song Africa. He took it to his band mates in Toto. A few didn’t think it sounded like music that their band would play. At least one suggested Platt keep the song for a single album release of his own. In the end, without much enthusiasm, it was released on their next album. To pretty much everyone’s surprise it became a hit.
Almost didn't get released but glad they did! 🎶
Rip to prince and Marvin Gaye
And Kurt Cobain.
"Smells Like Teen Spirit" is such a catchy song, even though I could never decipher the lyrics, something that Weird Al even pointed out.
I couldn't decipher the lyrics either as I was confused about whether it was geared towards high school culture at the time the song was made as shown in the music video or something else. It doesn't matter either way as Kurt Cobain would later hate the song despite its long-standing impact years after his death. It's still a good song even if Kurt thinks otherwise.
I really can't question the inclusion any of these ten songs, each could have been #1. Great choices.
Got the moves like Jagger ❤ Billie Jean is also one of my favorites, wore my Thriller cassette out in the 80s.
I love Sweet Dreams, it has such a catchy rhythm. Funnily enough, my mother used to sing it to me as a Lullaby.
🤔 Not bad idea
😉🙂
Interesting
I like most of those songs. I think, probably seven of them. "What's Goin' On" stands apart as truly important.
The song "Hallelujah" was notably covered by the late great Jeff Buckley and Rufus Wainwright (while it was on the Shrek soundtrack, the actual film uses the John Cale version, the Rufus Wainwright version on the other hand was for the soundtrack only since Rufus was under the DreamWorks Records label at the time).
Very interesting… I had no idea!
Rockwell's Somebody's Watching Me almost didn't get released because his dad Berry Gordy didn't like it until he heard Michael Jackson in the background of the song.
Sweet Dreams is the best song on the list and one of my favorites.
"Hallelujah" and "Somebody That I Used to Know" are 2 of my top favorite songs! And I'm thankful that they were released, In fact I can't imagine what the world would've been like if those two particular songs never saw the light of day.
Definitely Billie Jean. Happy wednesday morning, Ashley, take care and God bless you. Greetings from Colombia to you as well.
Last year, Sweet Dreams was added the National Recording Registry at the Library of Congress. The song turned 40 years old
Id add My Heart Will Go On and Unbreak My Heart since Celine and Toni didn’t want to sing them.
Well, if James Cameron (director of "Titanic") had gotten his way, NO ONE would've recorded the song. (Céline's reluctance was because she'd already done movie songs--"Beauty and the Beast" and "Because You Loved Me"--but her husband and manager convinced her to do a demo; that demo version was what won over Cameron.)
Most of the list are my favs, the bass in Billie Jean is the best
Sweet Dreams by the Eurithymics! I love this song! And Goyte Somebody that I use to know!
thank god they were released
Sweet Child of Mine by Guns n Roses as Slash thought the guitar riff was a joke
It definitely wouldn't have been the same without that legendary guitar solo. 🎸😍
It was Steven Adler who convinced him to keep the guitar riff despite Slash’s hesitation. He was doing the riff out of nowhere when the band wasn't practicing.
Somewhere Over the Rainbow almost didn't get in the movie The Wizard of Oz because the song slowed down the movie. Now, it has be covered by various artists.
Billie Jean and Smells Like Teen Spirit, baby!
I’m so thankful that Billie Jean was released because it’s such a great and catchy song 😊😁 same goes for Somebody that I used To Know and Smells like Teen Spirit and where the where the Streets Have No Name, Sweet Dreams 👍

I Want Top 10 Potential Songs That Were Never Released.
You could add the word 'please'. Makes you sound less of an ass.
@CS-hu7mj - 🤣
😅😂
@@CS-hu7mjHe was joking around. Not making an actual demand.
Back in early 80’s MTV was red hot as venue for hit songs. Worth noting its music playlist was also whiter than wonder bread. Sony wanted MTV to play the first music video from Thriller~Billy Jean. Purportedly, MTV said no. Sony then threatened to pull all if its music video catalog from MTV unless Billy Jean was played & given a fair shot.
The song got its air time & was super popular. I have heard this story in several different places but can’t 💯 guarantee the veracity of the story but at the very least it’s a great story
Ironically mick jagger covered dancing in the street for live aid with David Bowie
So Good by Halsey should be on this list for sure! She had a fight with her record label to release that song!
10.) 0:31 Where The Streets Have No Name - U2
9.) 1:35 Hallelujah - Leonard Cohen
8.) 2:42 Somebody That I Used To Know - Goyte feat. Kimbra
7.) 3:47 Nothing Else Matters - Metallica
6.) 4:52 Kiss - Prince & The Revolution
5.) 5:57 (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction - The Rolling Stones
4.) 7:02 Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This) - Eurythmics
3.) 8:07 What's Going On - Marvin Gaye
2.) 9:08 Billie Jean - Michael Jackson
1.) Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana
Most I could have done without. 3 I were glad about. Somebody I Used To Know Kiss and Sweet Dreams
UHH CELINE DON my heart will go on should be number 1!
the director didn't want the song
james horner secretly recorded the song and played it celine dion and her husband in vegas
CELINE DION did not want to sing the song
yet her husband convinced her to record a ONE TIME DEMO, which they built the orchestra around and played it for Cameron when he was in a good mood. and BOOM! instant classic on a song no one wanted with a one take demo that became the soundtrack to one of the greatest moments of movie/song history
Billie Jean is a masterpiece, one of many for the king of pop Michael Jackson.
Nirvana legendarisk musik
Rip Michael Jackson
🎶🎼🎵🧙🏻♂
Can you do a video of RUclips theorists including alax bale and the thearizer
If I had to pick maybe someone I need to know, I mean I used to know
This is not the Ms Mojo that used to be, if we look at the voice. It's basically a regular WatchMojo!
A band member almost destroying their own song? Something like that could have ended a band. I am glad that did not happen since Where the Streets Have No Name is my favourite song by them.
All this makes me wonder how many nascent songs were tossed aside and never reached the light of day!
Rip Kurt cobain
Miss Mojo now uses male voices
8:38 .... False
In Motown special Barry himself admitted that was just a claim while the real reason was that he "terrified" of financial loss alienating then white listeners by Gaye and then S Wonder whom he fought against rebranding from singers of love song to protest & social injustice
Guys , what the heck is this ? This top 10 already appeared in main WatchMojo channel , why bother add this to Ms Mojo , might as well updated the top 10 list not reuploaded already existing top 10 video with the same voice 🤦♂
Have a sin per video celebrities that change the genres and stuff
Your voice doesn't sound like Ms. MOJO 😢
Almost wish hallelujah wasn't made. It's overused as hell. It lost its special something
Why could not Jagger use proper english? I Can Get No Satisfaction.
SLTS being called one of the "best songs of all time" is hilarious. You didn't even claim that for Jackson, Gaye, or U2 but for Nirvana? Yeah ok.
