This is probably my favorite little scoop of his outlook on things. He’s such a humble guy, and musician. Huge inspiration to me. Wish he was still around.
Philosophical genius I think....
He probably would have been the biggest rockstar ever. He was so sensitive and vulnerable, yet extremely courageous to express. The good die young can be the metaphor for getting too close to the source of creation that they touch the other side, and therefore, the source pulls them closer. They are too good for this life. There is a limit to how much the source wants to be exposed. Jeff was at the precipice of pure artistic expression.
What a substantial human being. And still just a kid. Old soul. What a loss for humanity.
What a blessing he was & a legacy he sustains.

He seemed like a beautiful soul, I see it through his singing, his playing, or in interviews. Jeff continues to inspire me. He still burns bright, gaining new fans and enchanting old ones alike.

I was a fan first of his Dad Tim Buckley and when Jeff came around I was blown away to have another Buckley making music. And then his death crushed me. A magical flame sniffed out too soon. Miss him

Such a soft spoken angel. His music was charged with emotion in a way that I don’t think can be replicated easily. He was absolutely one of a kind. An Earth angel here to bless the world for an unfortunately short period of time, who left pieces of his soul behind in the form of sound. His voice could penetrate through the blocked hearts of those with hard walls that hide their pain. An ethereal voice that, when you hear it, makes you yearn for the ability to feel love, pain and everything in between. Thank you Jeff Buckley

Just love his expression that the music and emotion were on the horizon like a tornado which would eventually overtake him. That's possibly the most succinct description of an artist that I've ever heard.
He was out of this world and like his father Tim Buckley his gone to soon.

He was super talented...and a bit self aware. But I appreciate the youthful honesty.
When he was working on his second album, he was trying to turn against the romantic Jeff Buckley image of the Grace era... he knew how his looks made the emotion of his songs an intoxicating combination and how calculated this had been in his pursuit of success. In his final months, he expressed a wish for the music to come forth over the image (impossible when you look like that). Maybe him wading into the river was him trying to lose some of that control and manipulation he had shown in the past and go with the flow, so to speak. Definitely a conflicted individual.
I would say more than a bit....the whole of Grace ,(the album) was channelled from his higher self I believe...
His last songs were masterpieces

Really enjoy these insightful interviews into the late and very great Jeff Buckley.
I now better understand why I was reluctant to dive into his music when I was in my early twenties - the all encompassing hype around the person of JB and NOT the music contributed to the pathos and pain he was obviously carrying deep in his being.
What does it take to satisfy the voracious appetite of the music industry and attendant music machine media outlets?
Jeff fitted the bill with his charismatic good looks and musical mastery - too much fame too soon is not a good thing for anybody.

I would have loved to have a conversation with him. On the one hand he indicated that he wanted to make music so good that they would forget about Led Zeppelin II. But there are interviews like these where he says things that are in complete contrast to that earlier thought. I'm hoping it was a maturity thing and he later dropped ego and didn't try to compare his music with others and try to compete with other art.
What he said about the future is so beautiful and true. What the future holds is more spectacular than you can ever imagine. 20 years ago I never thought I'd be happily married with 8 wonderful pets in a job that I love. You can't force it, you have to be yourself. But my love of animals did strengthen the bond with my wife. So I do have them to partially thank.

By the way, it’s nice to see you on this Jeff Buckley journey, thanks to Rick Beato’s video on the track, Vancouver. With that said, since you are enjoying Jeff’s music so much, I have an album recommendation for you. I am not sure whether you are familiar with Buckethead (I call him *Buckley*head) or not. His album, *Colma,* is the most emotionally-captivating, gorgeous, serene album that I have ever heard, apart from Jeff’s music. He is the only other artist that has been able to make me cry while listening to his songs (which are all instrumental).
To give you a little background: He wrote the album for his mom while she was in the hospital with colon cancer, thus, there is a deep sense of longing that runs throughout. This album is one of those rare, ephemeral moments where the veil between heaven and earth is pulled back. This is a true masterpiece and definitely Buckethead’s magnum opus (he has something like 200-300 albums; more than any artist in the history of music). The solo in the second half of the song, Machete, is arguably my favourite of all time.

its so sad to think he just wanted to make his music and be himself without the pressures of the spotlight and celebrity culture. I wish he couldve been able to explore art and still retain his roots and his deep vulnerability. he seemed gentle and was consumed by the daunting presence of 'Hollywood'. so sad.
I wonder what his music would've sounded like today if he had been able to overcome what consumed him.
i identify with his point of view in some ways, as i'm an 'artist' and often grapple with the conflict inside of me-- pursing my art without losing myself.
i was borning, he was dying, i feel so conected to him.
"What is your greatest regret?" Dude, Jeff was just a kid here, why would he have regrets? It's not like he was some 80 year old who lived a whole life of making regrettable choices. I know what WE all regret - that he passed too goddamn soon...
He was just three weeks shy of 28, then. He was a young man. He had more than enough life experience to feel regret. Everyone should have regrets, even as children (eg. mistreating someone).

I really believe the river took him. I truly believe his spirit drowned in his own life, the river was that vehicle for him.
What does that mean?
@@MojoPin1983 I believe he reached a pinnacle with such a wealth of intuitive knowing, that his soul surrendered itself to the river. Jeff's spirit surrendered itself before his love could be tainted, his immortalized purity.

He wasn’t wearing a leather jacket. He wore boots into the water because the shore was littered with broken glass. Whatever the case, it was stupid of him to do what he did. I guess the risk-taking that he took in his music was indicative of a person that was willing to gamble, in all aspects of life, and it cost him everything. He lived life on the edge and could be reckless. Maybe the danger involved gave him a rush; who knows?
